BuzzJack Music Forum _ Ariana Grande _ break up with your girlfriend, i’m bored • 3rd Single

Posted by: Cqmerqn Feb 7 2019, 07:03 PM

Surprised there isn’t a thread yet, but Ariana has confirmed that this is the next single and the music video drops tomorrow.

I’ve just listened to it and it’s... hideous.

Posted by: UltraReputation Feb 7 2019, 07:17 PM

Yep this is so meh sad.gif

Posted by: John-James Feb 7 2019, 08:20 PM

It's not as bad as you guys are making it out to be but I'm surprised they are going with this when Bloodlines is saying "sup b*tches"

Posted by: UltraReputation Feb 7 2019, 08:39 PM

Bloodline is gonna do a Breathin I think and end up being the next proper single despite this getting a video

Posted by: Jordan Lee Feb 7 2019, 09:11 PM

Gahhhhh.

I wanna listen but I don’t as I’m hearing it tomorrow anyways.

My Twitter seems to think bloodline and NASA would’ve better choices for single 3 though.

Posted by: jakewild Feb 7 2019, 09:26 PM

i feel like it must be one of them situations where (as very well we all know with her and her writing team / friends / fam) that they’re all in such a close bubble that ari doesn’t really ask anyone outside of that bubble what they think about the songs that it ends up just being personal to them and the songwriting process or connection sometimes.. which doesn’t really relate to the general public when they just finally want a pop bob again especially when you’re pushing former said single as a now album track and 3rd single from said probably already bought album by then

Posted by: BotchLikeThis Feb 7 2019, 09:45 PM

This sounds good from the snippets but Bloodline is screaming to be released.

Posted by: Theonix Feb 7 2019, 10:12 PM

Saving this til tomorrow but OMG Charles Melton is in the music video! wub.gif

Posted by: Liаm Feb 8 2019, 02:34 AM

As I said in the album thread I'd have Bloodline and Bad Idea before this for sure and then Needy/NASA too, but I do really like this - the production *.* I don't think she needs another trappy single after there was already 7 Rings, like Jake said though I think she just doesn't really care and is in that little bubble of what matters to her and fair enough tbh. She's in a position where she can kind of do that, but it is frustrating when she has songs like Bad Idea and Bloodline, I'll miffed if she does end up just sitting on them drama.gif

Tbf in this day and age, it's fairly easy if something takes off to just make it a single anyway, as with Breathin', so they can always see what happens with the songs on the album and this can easily get pushed back if it's not the best single choice.

break up with your girlfriend, i’m bored will be a worldwide smash but it will drop quickly.

What Ariana is doing this era is everything Taylor tried to do with Reputation.

I’d say it’s more like Bieber with Purpose rather than Taylor with Reputation

Rihanna with the transition between the Loud/Talk That Talk eras is somewhat the same thing just spread across other formats.

Posted by: mdh Feb 8 2019, 08:30 AM

somehow even worse than "7 rings"

Posted by: UltraReputation Feb 8 2019, 08:37 AM

This is starting to grow but it's still one of her weakest singles for me atm

Yeah ngl I don't really get this either, Reputation was an absolute mess of an era which basically turned into Taylor sacrificing the campaign etc in order to regain her reputation (which low-key kinda worked as she's def receiving a lot less hate now then she did a couple of years ago). I agree with Cody that everything Ari has done this era feels more similar to Purpose/Back-to-back RiRi releases

My first listen of the song was watching the video and I'm immediately underwhelmed. It's by far the worst single/music video from this album so far, I'd even go as far as saying her worst single since Yours Truly. I hope it grows on me though, because the concept is fierce and I love the twist at the end of the video

Posted by: Juliano Feb 8 2019, 11:03 AM

It is the worst single of the era, but the video has helped it grow on me a little, as dull as it is. Bloodline and Bad Idea to rescue the era!

Posted by: Conderella Feb 8 2019, 12:32 PM

it's not her most exciting song but I like it

Posted by: blacksquare Feb 8 2019, 12:35 PM

There are so many better choices for singles on the album

Bad Idea is right there~

Posted by: BotchLikeThis Feb 8 2019, 09:19 PM

Personally, I love it and love the video too <3

Posted by: Stu1985 Feb 9 2019, 01:34 AM

Ok I love this.

Posted by: Euphorique Feb 9 2019, 04:37 AM

Another underwhelming single. This era totally doesnt deserve the success that she's having. I'm yet to be wowed. And this is coming from three great singles from Sweetener

Posted by: Theonix Feb 11 2019, 05:18 PM

So I now officially love this *.* I take back what I said about it being her worst single since Yours, Truly!

It's currently #2 in the UK midweeks and only 41 sales behind 7 rings at #1, it's just overtaken the latter on Spotify so expect Ari to replace herself at #1 officially this week! I can't remember the last time a female artist did that in the UK but I'm so pleased for just how huge this era has been already

Posted by: Theonix Feb 11 2019, 05:30 PM

Okay so if this goes to #1 this week, Ariana will be the first female artist EVER to replace herself as the #1 single in the UK! The only other artists to do so are:

The Beatles - I Want to Hold Your Hand and She Loves You (December 1963)
John Lennon - Imagine and Woman (February 1981)
Elvis Presley - Jailhouse Rock and One Night/I Got Stung (January 2005)
Justin Bieber - Sorry and Love Yourself (December 2015); I'm the One and Despacito (May 2017)
Ed Sheeran - Perfect and River (January 2018)

a living legend *.*

Finally you see sense *.* A bop

Posted by: Theonix Feb 13 2019, 04:47 PM

#1 in the UK mids! Herstory about to me made, keep streaming, girls!!!

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn Feb 14 2019, 09:52 AM

The production on this is lit, but there's not much in the way of a song here is there?

Posted by: Theonix Feb 14 2019, 06:56 PM

The apartment that the video was filmed in is the same as the one in Selena Gomez's Hands to Myself video! I knew it looked familiar laugh.gif Apparently Charlie Puth's video for Attention was also filmed there

Posted by: BotchLikeThis Feb 14 2019, 09:17 PM

Two bops *.*

Posted by: Jordan Lee Feb 15 2019, 08:04 PM

This has entered at #1 in the UK replacing 7 rings.

3 number ones in less than 100 days!!

Posted by: SweetButJonjo👻 Feb 19 2019, 09:58 PM

This is probably one of the biggest ear worms of recent times for me! It's so infectious and I'm so happy to see it receiving so much success!

Posted by: blacksquare Feb 25 2019, 03:37 PM

This was disappointing to me at first but the production is just so stellar. I'm sold.

Posted by: liamk97 Feb 27 2019, 12:45 AM

Covered by Sam Fender on the Radio 1 Live Lounge. I hear it, I like it.

Yet another bop from Ariana Grande. She really is the Queen of the UK Charts at the moment.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Mar 26 2019, 02:26 AM

Whilst this is by no means bad it’s the track I kinda forget about when I play the album as a whole. Like I rarely play it on its own the way I do the rest of the album (bar bad idea).

Posted by: LewisGT Mar 26 2019, 05:33 PM

I already don't think this is going to be topped for my favourite song of 2019. So good! heart.gif

Posted by: Jade Aug 30 2019, 05:25 PM

This is Ariana's latest platinum single in the UK! cheer.gif

Very fitting timing, well deserved! I even underrate this track for no good reason.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Aug 31 2019, 10:10 AM

Good achievement for her.

But this is definitely one of her weaker singles for me.

And practically everything on the album bar bad idea is better.

Posted by: Jade Jan 3 2020, 11:44 AM

Unstoppable stream queen!
