BuzzJack Music Forum _ Little Mix _ Q4 2017

Posted by: JosephStyles Aug 6 2017, 10:01 PM

As we all know, the girls are on tour throughout Q4 as they continue to promote the Glory Days album. But the question is, will they be releasing anything during that time? 2012, 13, 15 and 16 have seen them land X Factor performances for new material while they took 2014 off.

A few potential options for what they might do:

- Not release anything new. Just let the Glory Days album sell while they're on tour but otherwise, work on new material for album 5 to be released in 2018.
- Release a fifth single from Glory Days.
- Re-release the album, with a brand new killer smash hit single and X Factor performance plus a few new songs.
- Start a brand new era??
- A Greatest Hits album

Personally I'd love a re-issue at this point. I think it's too early for a fifth album, considering Power is going to be charting for a little while still, and it'd be odd for them to tour album 4 while promoting album 5. A re-issue wouldn't feel so weird, and would keep their presence in the charts high over the huge-selling Q4 period with a brand new single and a reason for the diehard fans to buy the album again. It makes the most sense I'd say!

In terms of a fifth single from the existing album, I'm not quite sure what they'd go for at this point. Oops is the only hit left I'd say and even then, that's already a 200k+ seller and I'm not sure if it would catch on so long after its initial impact. A new song would be a safer choice I guess!

Please share your thoughts!!

A re-release makes more sense to me too

Posted by: Defaze Aug 7 2017, 12:45 AM

Yeah I agree with you on pretty much all counts. The remainder of the album doesn't come close to the four singles we've gotten quality-wise, and nothing is really crying to be released (unlike say, the majority of the 'Salute' album...). A re-release seems the best option to keep their name out there and perhaps push the album towards triple platinum. I'd really love another MNEK produced banger to kick it off.

Edit: I've mentioned this before, but I wouldn't be opposed to them featuring on another artist's track. I don't imagine that's particularly likely though given that they're a pop group.

I think it's quite telling that all their extra Glory Days tour dates were added at the beginning of the original tour dates, rather than the end. For that reason I have a feeling we should expect something on Friday December 1st...

I dont want a re-release or a new album in Q4.

Perfect scenario would be a new album in Q1.

But if they have to release something in Q4, a standalone single wouldn't be a bad choice. They can later include it on their Greatest hits album.

Posted by: White Mustang Aug 7 2017, 10:34 AM

I'd love a GH collection tbh. They have more than enough hits now.

Posted by: Matt_1989 Aug 9 2017, 07:16 AM

I'd love a Greatest Hits collection with a few new songs. If we get our wish and the girls break free from Syco a GH album would feel like a great way to round off the Syco years and finally do a full world tour.

I can see them re-releasing Glory Days with a brand new single as it would be strange if they didn't release anything in Q4. Releasing LM5 while still touring GD makes no sense so I hope they hold off until Q1- which although wouldn't give the big numbers they usually get but with little competition around then it virtually guarantees them another Number 1. Plus it would give the girls a bit of breathing space

I don't know where else to put this but a Mexican radio station has said that Little Mix will be collaborating with a boyband named 'CNCO' and will be recording a video in Miami.

The girls have been in the studio today with Phil Plested (co-wrote Touch) Touch 2.0 is coming!

Posted by: Jamesy Aug 17 2017, 11:16 PM

I think they'll re-release Glory Days with the single versions of Touch, No More Sad Songs and Power. They'll include Reggaeton Lento and there will be one or two more songs on there - at least one of which will be the autumn/winter single.

Still got December 1st feels for it as well.

LM5 is sooner than we think.. https://twitter.com/LoMas_40/status/905101987267710978

They're actually going to go down the 'release one album while touring another' route aren't they

Posted by: White Mustang Sep 5 2017, 11:14 PM

I still think it could be a re-release. It'd still sell loads for half the usual syco cost.

Posted by: Matt_1989 Sep 6 2017, 11:48 AM

A re-release I'd be fine with

Posted by: THEO. Sep 6 2017, 12:03 PM

I don't think they should be re-releasing at all. The album was a huge success and top be honest I don't think it was really deserving of its success, half of it already sounds dated, I only go back to the singles and "Oops".

They should have another small break, it worked between "Salute" and "Black Magic" and they've only become more and more successful since that break. Although I enjoy "Reggaetón Lento", it really was an unnecessary release as the original is much better "Power" is still doing well and is probably detracting more sales from that, plus it's not really breaking either act into any news markets.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn Sep 6 2017, 12:09 PM

Agreed, I think it's a seriously shit album but they have worked the singles well and made it a good era!

Posted by: White Mustang Sep 6 2017, 12:32 PM

Well that's why I think a re-release would be better. They're releasing something for sure, so i'd rather that it was for a quick Q4 cash in than another really rushed album, that isn't as good as they are.

Posted by: THEO. Sep 6 2017, 01:04 PM

I know what you mean but also I don't know the last time a re-release actually did anything for an artist album? Probably Olly Murs's Right Place Right Time and that was back in 2013...

Posted by: MrLoverboy Sep 6 2017, 01:42 PM

I'm not sure they're ever going to release an album as good as them while they're under Syco so I don't know. New music is always nice. I think the GP would realise they're only after money if they do a re-release and they'd start to get some hate.

Posted by: Cameron Sep 6 2017, 02:33 PM

Little Mix have enough fans to literally re-release glory days with the CNCO, Stormzy, Kid Inc and MGK features and record a few other collabs and rename it like 'glory days the collabs'

Posted by: Liаm Sep 6 2017, 02:37 PM

They could easily just do a standalone single like Lady Gaga did with The Cure for example, I think it's overkill a bit to re-release the album laugh.gif

Posted by: JosephStyles Sep 7 2017, 08:58 PM

I don't think it's overkill at all, it's an easy way of making money while they work on a new album! It doesn't have to sell by the bucketload, but it'd increase the sales for sure and keep it selling well for a second Christmas in a row. With the NMSS and Power single mixes, Reggaetón Lento, a new single and maybe one or two other tracks, that's a cheap and easy way of making big money from a Glory Days re-issue. It's sensible I think, then they can take a bit of time out after the tour and work on a huge comeback with album 5 next year! A standalone single would be pretty pointless IMO, might as well make some easy money and chuck a new single onto a re-issue.

Posted by: White Mustang Sep 7 2017, 09:49 PM

Yeah, I think a re-release would be VERY wise. A new album to me would be overkill, as they'd have another year's campaign to jump straight into. I say release a Q4 single, get that album (in re-released form) selling in high numbers again over Christmas, and then go quiet for 6/7 months, release a brand new single in Julyish and a second single with brand new album in Q4 2018.

They were very wise to rush Glory Days after Get Weird as they were onto something huge and needed to cement their status as a top tier UK act. But now they've done that they need to give us a break for at least the first half of 2018, to make us miss them and build up some buzz, as, over the past two years, there's not been a time when there's not been a current Little Mix single on the radio.

Posted by: MrLoverboy Sep 7 2017, 10:32 PM

/\ Totally agree. I think a repack is a smart move to keep them around during the busiest time of the year and yet leaves room for them to go on a short break to make people miss them.

Also, I just really hope the repack has a decent cover because listening to Glory Days on Spotify with... that thing is always a tragic experience. I'll never get over someone thinking that looked good.

"We will release a new single before going Christmas holidays" https://twitter.com/LoMas_40/status/907967396232794112

Posted by: pippa Sep 13 2017, 07:25 PM

A repack would easily be the best move from them and a brand new single to promote it. If it is a decent repack i see no reason that it wont push sales up by 300,000.

Posted by: shindymindy Sep 13 2017, 08:03 PM

Especially around Christmas.

Posted by: Jonjo Sep 14 2017, 01:10 AM

I'm thinking they could get two, potentially three, slots on XF. I get the feeling Simon is gonna want CNCO on one of the first couple of live shows, Little Mix will then be back a couple of weeks later to prem a new single for the re-release or whatever they have planned (perhaps a standalone single?) And potentially back for the final to possibly duet with a finalist?

I'd be happy with a re-release as I would like the remixes all on one CD as well as 'Reggaetňn Lento' on it too! tongue.gif

The guy who directs their documentary stuff just shared this https://twitter.com/GrownLMArg/status/909582055335440386?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fs9e.github.io%2Fiframe%2Ftwitter.min.html%23909582055335440386 So here's my guess:
Re-release around Christmas, with all the remixes, couple new songs and the documentary plus tour footage of their show in Paris.

I wonder if we'll get a TV show documentary this year on ITV?

That would do wonders for them over Christmas

I still think we're getting a re-release not a new album. The timing of RL is a bit off if they want to launch an entire new album this Autumn.
