Ariana Grande - One Last Time
UK chart-run: 70-70-65-67-61-65-63-36-33-34-33-28-24-27-37-37-39-43-51-61-71-49R(15)-11R(79)-12-2-2-7-13-20-27-28-28-33-37-42-51-50-68->38

Today marks 5 years since 'One Last Time' was released as a single from Ariana's sophomore album 'My Everything'! It was finally selected as the fifth single from the campaign (when including 'Bang Bang') to the pleasure of many fans. It showed positive signs commercially over here in the U.K. when released back in 2015, as it cracked the top 40 following the near-miss of 'Love Me Harder'. It initially peaked at #24. However, fast forward to 2017 and the single would experience a whole new lease of life in the wake of the Manchester Arena tragedy. People all over the world clung to 'One Last Time' in these tough times, resulting in its catapult to a new peak of #2. An initial moderate success for Ari eventually turned into her biggest selling single in the United Kingdom. Its accompanying video is pretty eerie now, as it depicts a fictional apocalypse, causing panic around the world. A fellow scary scenario. The video currently sits at over 311 million views.

How has 'One Last Time' held up for you 5 years later?

I was initially a fan but not to the extent that I am now. I remember placing this in the THIRTIES of my chart - painfully low in retrospect! But yeah, like others around the country, it was the Manchester tragedy that helped this to fully click for me. I remember tears rolling down my face after hearing it for the first time after the news broke and thinking oh my gosh... what a powerful song! I then had it on repeat for a while and it's continued to be a 10/10 ever since. What a gem!

I do think that 'One Last Time' deserved a better video but 'My Everything' really wasn't a vintage era for visuals in general

One of my all time favourite songs. It's always been my highlight from that era, long before it was a single, but the Manchester attacks definitely propelled it into being so much more than just "my favourite Ariana song".

one last time doesn’t have a video as far as i’m concerned, it’s an abomination + i still can’t believe what is actually depicted + then how the song became associated with the manchester attack which actually felt a lot like this video when i was there.

the song, however, remains flawless. there isn’t one thing i’d change about it. if it’s possible, it sounds better now than it did when it was first released. a masterclass in how to write, produce and deliver the perfect pop song.

This was my favourite thing she did at the time it was released. I do think she’s topped it since but it’s definitely a special song and I’d say in the UK it’ll always be seen as her “signature song”.
