I think episode 7 being an Eleven only episode works well, it's just because it came right after a massive cliffhanger. If this was a regular tv show (you know airing once a week instead of Netflix) then I don't think they would've done it the way they did. Episode 6 and 7 would've been mixed around to still have the same scenes but with Eleven's decision to return to Hawkins and Hopper seeing the Demodog's rise from the tunnels being the last two scenes. All the same plot content, but spread over the course of two episodes and mixed together. It definitely would've made for a lot more tension around Eleven's return as we would know that she was on her way back at the same time as the Demodog attack - meaning she could be in danger.

Maybe that would have worked better anyway, I don't know laugh.gif All in all though, I 100% prefer Season 2 to Season 1. I LOVED S1 and it definitely got me instantly hooked but by the time we're in S2 we know the characters (what they're like, what they've been through) and it's initially more focused on character development. Characters from S1 who were overlooked a lot (Steve, Dustin, Lucas, Will, even Hopper to an extent) definitely step up for S2 along with Max and Bob a bit.

By the end of S2, we're pretty much fully familiar with all the current main cast - paving way for S3 to start getting heavier as we learn more about: the Hawkins Lab experimenting, the test subjects (hopefully we see Eight some more), lore about the Upside Down, what the hell a Demogorgon is/where it came from/how did it come to be, etc. etc. etc. I expect S3 to be significantly darker than S1 & S2, which I CANNOT wait for wub.gif

All this is kind of just rambling because I'm excited because I just finished S1 & S2 (I started late okay tongue.gif) I'm probably gonna rewatch it all in a few days.

Side note: Does anyone else think it's interesting / cool that Sean Astin (Bob) was Mikey from The Goonies? Stranger Things is brilliant in that it takes influence from all sorts of classic movies (The Goonies, IT, Alien/s, Stand By Me, Carrie, Poltergeist, E.T, Predator, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and literally so many more I can't think of right now) and it's nice that a main character from Goonies managed to play a role in a tv show which took influence from his movie

Finally finished this! Note: Spoilers follow, I'm not gonna spoil them though as it's been online a month now so please scroll past (you shouldn't rlly be reading this thread anyway if you haven't finished it lol~)

Well it was a lot more slow-going (hence why I took quite a while to get through it, that and not having a laptop for a while~) than Season 1 and inferior to it in general, but I can appreciate the character development that went on and Episodes 8 and 9 are honestly two of the best episodes in the show's history and was a wonderful pay-off. I really liked most of the characters this season, the kids really have grown up so fast and felt so much more mature and well-rounded than the last season. Steve certainly had some great character development, and I agree about the brilliance of him and Dustin. The threats felt a lot more sinister and dangerous and Winona Ryder's performance felt a lot more subdued in general which I preferred. Took me a while to warm to Bob but awwww...sad.gif

It wasn't without it's problems though, mainly being the pacing, which while I do accept was more about character development but the plot did tend to stall a lot ore. Eleven and Hopper's situation in particular went on far too long and her storyline was one thing I don't think they did well this time - which brings me to Episode 7, yeah that was a total dud, there was a lot of interesting things they could've done with exploring her upbringing (I rlly liked the flashback to her birth and her mother's current state), but that wasn't it, the acting and story felt rlly below par for Stranger Things even as a completely separate episode from the storyline and was poorly timed what with the cliffhanger the episode before. Hopefully in the future Eight can be utilised a bit better, as she did seem quite interesting as a concept.

I also wasn't big on Max nor her brother (well he was supposed to be a douche but still), I can see that she drew the group apart initially, but asides from that, I didn't feel she had much of a point in the end asides from being a love interest, and I'm not sure how I'll get used to her as part of the group. I guess it's cos I didn't find her especially likeable and the domestic abuse storyline seemed to be just mentioned in passing and not explored as much so I don't feel I 'know' her as much as the main group, maybe next season~

Overall, another rlly good season, not quite as special last time, but certainly still cementing it as one of Netflix's masterstrokes. As for what would happen in Season 3, I'm not sure and I think they'd need to switch it up a bit in order to not come across as too stale, I definitely would like to know more about the science element and actual world of Upside Down and the Shadow monster, I said it last time, but surely there's more inhabitants or people there than just the shadow monster and the demogorgan things, alternate versions of the characters perhaps?

Where are Jay’s thoughts though?!? Did he explode with excitement before he even started watching or was it incredibly disappointed in it and he has moved on? ohmy.gif

Biggest flop since Go to Work

!!!!

I finally got around to begin watching it two days ago... and finished yesterday *.* I'll endeavour to share some expanded thoughts soon (although I have to say, what I think has pretty much already been touched upon by all of you already), but for now: this show is just so brilliant! Easily one of my all-time faves. wub.gif
