8th September 2019

It's a first week on top for a-ha's 1985 The Sun Always Shines On TV classic which topped my chart for 5 weeks in January/Feb of 86, and now belatedly gets a 6th, stopping Agnes grabbing a 6th with I Trance (for now). Snow Patrol get a second top 10 (the other being Set Fire To The Third bar in 2006 which hit 3 - I don't tend to go for their big hits!), Shallou & Colin get a first, and Lana Del Ray gets her third top 40 of the year.

In a tough week when Ive had no free time, only 4 new entries, Tove Lo bringing along Kylie for the latter's zillionth chart entry (I have no idea how many she's had, but it's a lot!), Adam Lambert extending his chart career to 9 years, and the listing is cut down to a more manageable 80. Phew!

Hello John!
Nice to see "Only Human", "Cold", "Dance Monkey" and "Boyfriend" gain huge! Especially for "Dance Monkey", it could be a huge contender for #1!
Out of all the debuts, I've heard two: "Really Don't Like U" and "Superpower".
"Really Don't Like U" is decent, but Tove Lo could to much better and "Superpower" is a nice song, hopefully will debut in my chart not this friday, but next Friday.
Great chart!

I'm just looking at your chart now to see if 'Every Night You've Got To Save Me' by Mass Gothic is here after you gave your 18 points to it in the BJSC last night and I see it's here at number 45. I'm glad you like it,hopefully it will climb further up your chart in the coming weeks.

Hi Rollo, thanks for dropping by smile.gif I thought Mass Gothic under-performed in the final a bit, though I'm not surprised, catchy, chirpy male-led rockpop always seems to fall between the 2 main fanbases in the contest, not cool enough for the indie crowd, not poppy enough for the pop crowd....

You get your wish though - into the new top 40 laugh.gif
