I was so bored during the Rusical - with the UK version happening and some similar challenges across both versions this feels like the 90th Rusical I've seen this year and I rarely care for them oops. Rosé was the correct winner even if I'm still finding it a massive struggle to root for her or particularly enjoy her, because that ego is gigantic. Good to see Denali finally getting some recognition and I think the critique on the whole was spot on this week.
The double shantay... I'm not thrilled we've still got Kandy around really but I do think it was difficult to separate her and Symone in the lipsync, so based on that I'd say it was somewhat deserved. Hopefully it won't be long now until we can get rid of Kandy for good though x |

It was definitely closer to a double sashay than a double shantay, but they couldn't get rid of Symone so soon.

The double shantay kind of symbolises the show moving towards feeling more scripted, I get the feeling that before the show aired they pegged Kandy as a Vanjie type who would be memed and loved by fans, so they're keeping her around for longer. It makes me think what's the point of a lipsync, what's the point of the challenges at really in a way, if they are just going to decide to keep some arbitrarily. Like I said, I'd maybe get it if say Kandy had a couple of wins by now and it ended up being two front runners in the bottom, but at that point, somebody who was or should be a front runner would turn it a LOT more than Kandy just lying on the floor for half of it again. It also makes the episode feel pointless when they pull that given there has already been a few episodes with no elimination, it's not so much the length of the series for me as the fact that only 4 people have gone home in 8 episodes. On paper it's nice to have more time to get to know the queens but it's just not working in practice. If they wanted a longer series, it would have been nice to cast a couple more queens and fill the episode so there was always something happening and give the series more pace. The premiere could have been a split thing with the two groups, lose the lipsyncs and just split them into groups like S12 but combine it into one 2hr premire maybe.

I think the main issue with this season is no one was eliminated in the first 3 episodes and we just had a 4th with no one being eliminated - it's making the season drag out. I think they should keep the split cast episodes 1 & 2 as standard format going ahead, but refrain from any other twists like the lip sync one from the first episode. Hopefully things will pick up a bit in the coming episodes - especially with snatch game next week!

What makes this drag on more is that it appears to be that there is no actual/competitive episode this week, just the corona documentary and then Snatch game next week
 That will be 2 months of airing and just 4 eliminations by the time we get another epsode!!!

I agree with all the points above! I also feel like there were other lip syncs this season that would have made much more sense as a double shantay just based on how good the lip syncs were (like LaLa vs Joey or Kandy vs Tamisha). But I also think that Kandy won that lip sync vs Symone personally, so what do I know?

Safe to say this is in my bottom 3 of favourite seasons at the minute. I'm just not warming to a lot of the girls. (and it also feels from the episode edits that they aren't warming to each other?)
The one plus I have right now is that every week my top 5 prediction is looking more likely! One thing I will ask, is Untucked giving a different impression or expanding your view of any of the girls? I haven't looked it out since it's not easily available on Netflix. |

Does anyone know if we have a confirmed episode order for this cycle? It has to be more than the usual 14 or else there'll be a huge exodus at one point (or a very messy finale).
Now it's also off one week apparently. I guess they want to drag this out until May. |

My biggest issue with this season is just how transparent the editing is — the favourites have been determined so blatantly that rooting for anyone else just seems pointless. I thought they had changed things around with season 12, but that really was just the sheer likability and talent of those girls.
