Listening to johnnie walker 1969 right now thanks for the link
I must post some of my radio clips from the early 70s one day...
I have been listening to a couple of 1997 Mark Goodier shows from https://www.mixcloud.com/1869300/ account today! I'm very interested in hearing 90s and noughties chart shows, so if anyone spots any others popping up on Mixcloud then please give me the heads up here!
Not exactly 'classic' but I'm currently listening to the 2007 EOY chart in the background at work and oh my, I suddenly feel 10 again. It's a great listen

There's a Facebook group dedicated to old POTP and Tom Browne Top 20 shows.

I'm currently listening to the chart from 20 years ago. Some 17-year-old singer called Britney Spears was at #1 for a second week!
https://m.mixcloud.com/1869300/uk-top-40-radio-1-mark-goodier-28th-february-1999/
Just found a https://www.mixcloud.com/StephenTheRadioKid2000/radio-1-uk-top-40-chart-with-scott-mills-20122009/ chart presented by Scott Mills and it's the iconic Joe vs. Rage Against The Machine one! I think this is the first one from that year that I've come across on Mixcloud.
Already living for the first song played
Prob the best chart occasion ever!!
thanks for the reminders - listening to the first chart of 1972, and so many 14-year-old birthday memories for me. I was sat with my finger on the record-button of my reel-to-reel tape recorder recording my fave songs from this show and radio generally, so I have bits and bobs of charts and radio shows from Singapore in 1970/1971 and UK from Oct 1971 onwards through to the 2000's, plus Florida radio in the 90's and 00's. Very few complete shows though.
This Jan 1972 show has Rod, Cher, Amarillo, T.Rex, Let's Stay Together, Deep Purple & much much more for fans of classic tunes...

Was happy to see https://www.mixcloud.com/1869300/uk-top-40-radio-1-mark-goodier-29th-august-1999/ chart in my feed today as 1999 is one of my favourite years for music. Background listening at work this afternoon sorted *.*
Thanks for this - what a start to that chart - classics from DC and I can't remember the name but that dance record is a classic, then one of my favourite songs of all time 'Only You'.
Hearing Mark Goodier doing the countdown is class as well. He is just starting to be a regular on the BBC 4 1988 totp episodes. He was so much more professional than anyone we hear now. Even with the facts about the Yazoo New Entry!
Ah yes Yomanda! I'm sure I have it on cd single from the time, just couldn't think of the name of hand. There were so many dance classics at that time.
Watch the totp episodes from 1988 on BBC 4 Mark looks so young in them lol. Great host! I remember his final show in I Think late 2002 - they played 'Angels' by Robbie Williams after the number one was announced.
Really enjoyed listening to that August 1999 chart show this evening, so many great tracks that week!
Just found this chart from https://www.mixcloud.com/1869300/uk-top-40-radio-1-mark-goodier-22nd-october-2000/ that was uploaded a couple of days ago! *.* that will take me nicely through this afternoon at work.
15 minutes in and 'Groovejet (If This Ain't Love)' is already an enormous highlight
Yes, that's the week that the Baha Men climbed from 14-2 with “Who Let The Dogs Out?” - the first song since “I Don't Want To Miss A Thing” by Aerosmith to become a Top 10 hit after debuting outside the Top 10. A feat that became very rare between 1995 and 2005.
How'd that happen again?
it was all the record companies, pushing a record onto radio 6 weeks ahead of release to build up demand, week of release make it half price, result: peak position first week of release and few climbers. You could pretty much make up a good list of likely chart-toppers months in advance just looking at the release schedule. Tracks that beat the odds and climbed were very rare, and tracks in films tended to have extended lives vs those that weren't in films.
We've been blessed with another 1999 chart! https://www.mixcloud.com/1869300/uk-top-40-radio-1-mark-goodier-26th-september-1999/ uploaded yesterday.
Currently up to 'Drinking In L.A.'
Wow, I vaguely remember listening to this one live at the time. So many great debuts that week with S Club 7, Shania, Britney, Tom Jones and The Cardigans, Kelle Bryan and more!
Ha, I forgot about the Sunday Surgery that used to be on after the chart! I used to listen to that before going to bed, feeling very grown up as I was only 12!
^ Glad that you guys enjoyed that show!
A few noughties charts have been uploaded recently:

https://www.mixcloud.com/1869300/uk-top-40-radio-1-mark-goodier-13th-october-2002/
https://www.mixcloud.com/StephenTheRadioKid2000/radio-1-uk-top-40-chart-with-jk-joel-24122006/
I'm currently listening to the 2006 one - just heard 'Chacarron' on it
Just found a https://www.mixcloud.com/1869300/uk-top-40-radio-1-mark-goodier-15th-july-2001/ chart from the week after my favourite song ever 'Another Chance' by Roger Sanchez entered at #1 so excited to listen to a chart from this year as I was too young to remember much at the time, was the summer before I started school!
Edit: yesssss half an hour in and there's some Basement Jaxx
Thanks for sharing these chart shows, JadeGagaOlly!
That 2001 chart is great. Castles In The Sky, Perfect Gentleman and Another Chance are my favourites
There's a Facebook group for old R1 chart shows and Terry there puts up links most days to shows on Mixcloud.

ALERT for Joseph!
Someone has uploaded Jameela Jamil's first chart show (13 January 2013) which is here: https://www.mixcloud.com/terry-obrien2/top-40-2013-01-13-jameela-jamil-her-1st-show/
The BuzzJack chart thread is http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=149462.
OMG
I need to find time to listen *.*
Omg I'm going to listen to this immediately. 2013
Edit: As it turns out that user has posted several early 2010s chart shows, excellent!
Well that is definitely going to soundtrack this afternoon of working GCSE memories *_*
I may as well use the opportunity to post https://soundcloud.com/thermometer1/jameelas-final-show-1/s-NdiQ2 again then - I put together a best bits compilation of the final Jameela Jamil chart show at the time. Sadly had no idea how to record the whole thing so that's all I've got, but it's a good 27 minutes.
❤️
Thanks for posting!
Working from home starts tomorrow for me so posting that user's link was a godsend, so many charts to dive through in the background to keep me sane *.*
Currently listening to https://www.mixcloud.com/terry-obrien2/top-40-2013-03-17-jameela-jamil/ and 'Boomerang' being mentioned as the mid-week #1 really threw me off but of course it was :')
Updated first post with links to channels hosting chart and other retro radio content
https://www.mixcloud.com/terry-obrien2/top-40-2010-03-28-reggie-yates/
I vividly remember this one airing at the time and being jealous of the chart fan Calum Daisy Dares You performing at his house *_*
Omg I remember that too
Just bumping this, as there are so many charts on here now.
My morning listening is sorted with the 25th July 1999 chart, I vividly remember it as we were on a family holiday in Great Yarmouth and I rushed back to the caravan to turn the radio on to find out where Better Off Alone had debuted
https://thechartshows.fandom.com/wiki/1999
It's funny how it all sort of sounds modern still in the production of the show and links, but the adverts all say 'for more information contact this number', rather than giving a website address. Also mentions of 'Radio 1's Eclipse Roadshow' And of course, pop music was popping, so much of the chart seemed so happy and cheery.
It's amazing to me that people taped the whole thing, kept the tapes, digitised and uploaded them for us decades later. I used to tape the top 10 every now and then but must have disposed of the tapes long ago.
I listen to charts when I go running. They keep me distracted as I try to figure out what's in the top 10 based on what's gone before.
Will get back into these soon as they were fun listening to in the first lockdown!
