That's fair, this sort of sums up a lot of the problems with it I think. But each to their own - https://www.reddit.com/r/LetsTalkMusic/comm...l_to_pitchfork/

Lately a lot of Pitchfork reviews have been spot on (Phoebe Bridgers, Haim, Fiona Apple)
I know Pitchfork are very US-centered and they hate UK and especially Irish artists
so I do take Pitchfork reviews into account but always with a bit of perspective

"3am" sounds that it's going to be huge.
This is their focus track in AUS/NZ, while "Gasoline" is their focus track in the UK. Both tracks have been added to their respective New Music Friday playlists on Spotify.

08 Los Angeles
08 The Steps
09 I Know Alone
08.5 Up From A Dream
08 Gasoline
06 3am
07.5 Don't Wanna
04.5 Another Try
08 Leaning On You
05 I've Been Down
06.5 Man From The Magazine
06.5 All That Ever Mattered
08 FUBT
11 Now I'm In It
07 Hallelujah
08 Summer Girl

a solid album, better than album two but def not reaching the heights of album one. I feel this is an album that works better as a whole than listening to individual tracks regularly. Now I'm In It is the CLEAR highlight and has become one of my fave songs ever of theirs, I wish there were a couple more songs with a similar-ish vibe to it.

Just finished my first run through and I really loved it. So many influences showing through but still that sense of fun that Haim usually have, I'm particularly loving the Sheryl Crow and Joni Mitchell sounds to some of the tracks. Particular stand outs on first listen are Up From a Dream, Gasoline, Leaning On You, Man From the Magazine and All That Ever Mattered as well as basically all the tracks we already know wub.gif

This album feels like a classic album that was released years ago — I had a similar feeling when listening to 'NFR!' for the first time.

I'm really impressed with the amount of sounds, genres, little production touches, etc that they have played around with.

So this is a massive step up from their last album! I kinda forgot it was released yesterday so only just got around to listening to it and it’s fantastic .. not up their with album 1 for me.. but it’s only been out for a day and album 1 was pretty immense!

A few listens later and this is my favourite of theirs to date, everything just grows and grows wub.gif

I've slotted the singles back in to the album though as I don't like them tagged on as bonus tracks at all

Summer Girl track 2 as it compliments the vibe of Los Angeles well. Although I'm not adverse to it being the final track either as they make nice bookends in style.

Hallelujah and Now I'm In It slot in after Don't Wanna in that order.

£4.99 on iTunes at the moment... I ended up downloading it for about £2 seeing as I'd already got a few singles to deduct from the price and also the download code in my vinyl doesn't work!

I thought this was a very solid album. There's no real weak points at all but there was also no song that really stood out for me.

That's a problem I've found with Haim in general, I like a lot of their songs but there's still only one song of theirs that I love.
