http://www.digitalspy.com/music/alice-in-wonderland/news/a789310/pink-announces-her-first-single-in-three-years-and-its-for-alice-through-the-looking-glass/

I got excited when I read "new single" thinking it was the "proper" single! It's for Alice Through The Looking Glass, but it's with Max Martin and Shellback - two of the best producers around <3 Very excited to hear this.

Don't be late for this very important date! On April 15, P!nk will release her brand new single "Just Like Fire" from Alice #ThroughTheLookingGlass

One of the reasons I love the Alice stories, and why I'm so excited to hear these songs, dark and moody reflects my emotions atm lol.

I wonder if white rabbit will be the b-side, or if that will just be on the soundtrack cd thinking.gif

Posted by: troublepink 5th April 2016, 03:34 PM

I've a question about the release, as I don't follow chart music much any more...

The single is released on 15th April, but does that mean we'll get to hear it before then?

Posted by: Mango 5th April 2016, 03:38 PM

Excited for new P!nk, especially considering it's a Max Martin collab biggrin.gif

Most songs these days tend to be on air on sal kinda tihngs.

It'll just come out at midnight I assume as that's a Friday, the international new release day now. In fact we might get to hear it Thursday afternoon as obviously Australia/New Zealand enter Friday then and it'll be out, depends if anyone "leaks" it laugh.gif

Oooh so we may hear it on thursday, thats exciting biggrin.gif Never thought of the Aussies laugh.gif

So is the friday release thing worldwide now? I feel so old, I really don't pay attention to charts and I feel like they've changed a lot since TTAL era started drama.gif I guess it makes sense though, if its being heard and released on the same day, people are less likely to get it for 'free' laugh.gif

Posted by: Regina 6th April 2016, 12:04 PM

Yeah, pretty much everything is released on a Friday WW now biggrin.gif there are some people who release on random days though laugh.gif

Posted by: troublepink 6th April 2016, 01:57 PM

I miss the good old days where i'd skip school so i could go into town and buy a CD single on a monday, then be glued to the radio on a sunday afternoon to see where that single got in the charts drama.gif

Posted by: troublepink 6th April 2016, 01:58 PM

I was going to post this in the music video thread, but lets keep it all in one, make it easier laugh.gif

The music video which Pink instagramed about is for this track, and will be released early May cheer.gif

(New York, NY) (April 4, 2016) – International pop icon P!nk is set to release “Just Like Fire” from Walt Disney Studios’ upcoming feature film Alice Through The Looking Glass on April 15th at all digital providers via RCA Records/Walt Disney Records. The track, which is the first single from P!nk in 3 years, will impact at radio on April 18th and a music video directed by Dave Meyers will debut in early May.
“Just Like Fire” was co-written by P!nk, Max Martin, Shellback and Oscar Holter and produced by Martin, Shellback and Holter specifically for the film. This is the first time P!nk has written an original song for a live action feature film. “Just Like Fire” will appear in the film and on the motion picture soundtrack from Walt Disney Records featuring score from four-time Academy Award® nominee Danny Elfman.
Earlier this year, P!nk recorded a cover version of the iconic song “White Rabbit” for the film’s campaign (watch here).
Alice Through The Looking Glass is an all-new spectacular adventure featuring the unforgettable characters from Lewis Carroll’s beloved stories which stars Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Mia Wasikowska, Rhys Ifans, with Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen. The film opens in U.S. theaters on May 27, 2016.

Posted by: Regina 6th April 2016, 02:07 PM

Looks like they are using it more for the movie than an actual chart hit. Figured, but still, new visuals *.*

Posted by: troublepink 6th April 2016, 03:08 PM

I've had these lyrics stuck in my head since yesterday... "I swear, you're just like fire, insteada making me colder, you keep making me hot..." rolleyes.gif laugh.gif

Posted by: Liаm 6th April 2016, 03:20 PM

It would be great if they pushed it, seems a shame to "waste" (well, it's not a waste as it's being used but you know what I mean) a Max Martin and Shellbeck production as they're behind some amazing pop songs as well as f***in' Perfect and RYG for Pink! Maybe she's worked with them for the album too though *.*

I've only had three hours sleep since 2pm Wednesday. My head is the biggest sleepy mess there is so I'll probably forget the song by morning, but I loooooove it so much. Very different 😍

Posted by: mr_pmt 14th April 2016, 11:21 PM

I like it! It's very 2003 in its sound though.

Posted by: ℒ𝓲𝓷⻤ 15th April 2016, 12:25 AM

I cant seem to find it on iTunes, I'm hoping this is the right link since it was uploaded an hour ago, I love it wub.gif

The acoustic guitar!!! heart.gif

OMG RAP AND THE HIGH PARTS OMG SO SLAYED YAS PINK IS BACKKKKK

Posted by: Liаm 15th April 2016, 12:44 AM

This could feasibly be a risky lead single, quality wise *.* It's very different which I love, excellently produced as expected from Max and Shellback!

I like how different it is, I expected a brooding sort of movie ballad so it's great for her to just come out with this!

Posted by: Cameron 15th April 2016, 08:26 AM

Very good! Such a surprise, I wasn't expecting anything like this *.* Slay P!Nk

Posted by: Davidson 15th April 2016, 08:32 AM

Heard this on Radio 1 this morning and instantly loved it.

The best thing she has done in a loooong time.

Posted by: KWEEN_DEE 15th April 2016, 08:57 AM

Quite boring really. I'm more excited for the cover.

Posted by: Regina 15th April 2016, 10:13 AM

Top 20 on itunes *.*

Posted by: Joe. 15th April 2016, 10:14 AM

This is going to be another big hit for Pink, I can feel it. Not my fave from her, but the hit potential is very clear.

Posted by: Draper 15th April 2016, 10:56 AM

It's awful. It's soooooo predictable. If the album is going to be anything like Today's The Day and Just Like Fire then I will be thoroughly disappointed! sad.gif

Really hoping its all just like this for the Alice movie.

She's being safe and uninspiring. She's had 4 years now to get creative and produce something with depth so that is exactly what I'm hoping and praying for.
More "Like A Pills" "Sobers" "Who Knews" please.

Posted by: Regina 15th April 2016, 10:59 AM

Nobody was expecting this kind of song though? We were expecting a dark song, which this is not. It's already been confirmed that this is for the movie, please learn to read.

You don't want her to be safe and uninspired but want her to reproduce some of her biggest hits? Okay then.

Dismissed.

Posted by: Liаm 15th April 2016, 12:18 PM

Already #14 on iTunes, it's fighting with Skepta and Little Mix for top 10 but I think all 3 will push their way in today. Streaming will hurt this though of course, at least for now until it builds a bit.

Posted by: HarryEzra 15th April 2016, 01:59 PM

Really like this on first listen wub.gif Glad to have her back

Posted by: ℒ𝓲𝓷⻤ 15th April 2016, 04:33 PM

this isn't predictable?! laugh.gif It's quite different for Pink as an artist and for a movie track, It's upbeat and catchy, what's not to like??? Sure it's not her best but it doesn't make it bad or boring.

Posted by: Ultraviolence1989 15th April 2016, 06:13 PM

THIS IS INCREDIBLE.

Posted by: T Boy 15th April 2016, 06:30 PM

Omg, just like everything of hers, I'm falling in love instantly with this. It also now top 10 on iTunes, I didn't think it'd make much of an impression. Glad to be wrong!

Posted by: Liаm 15th April 2016, 07:01 PM

This couldn't be less predictable, really laugh.gif If anything, for the film it's promoting, I thought it would be a brooding ballad. I love that it's like Red era Taylor Swift covering American Pie era Madonna, but at the same time only Pink could sing this <3

Posted by: Regina 15th April 2016, 07:04 PM

Full on rap album next P!nk *.*

Posted by: Jonjo 16th April 2016, 12:52 AM

It's 'ight. Really don't understand what's so amazing about it to get people wetting themselves over it, but it's ok. Definitely preferred a few of the tracks from her last album over this so far.

Posted by: Jake 16th April 2016, 06:46 AM

i'm taken aback after the details filtered through that THIS is the song we've gotten. as liam accurately noted earlier this has all the hallmarks of a gutsy lead single after a notable break.

it's a nod to the past, taking on new territory sonically for pink (the folk spliced with rapping and that falsetto breakdown), a total rebellion to the adult contemporary audience she was beginning to build and fits in nicely with the current musical climate quite well. it is kind of everything but the iamspamspamamisink but just about manages to hold it together and is an out and out joy.

well done pink IT'S BEEN A BLOODY WHILE, now a record in this direction and the world can be very happy.

Quite boring really. I'm more excited for the cover.

now i know you say all of this for a reaction and want to be indulged and i'm actually going to do that for once, "boring" how exactly? as a song it's many things ('dated' perhaps, a 'hot scrambled mess' etc) but 'boring' is the word i'd use to describe it, certainly not as a pop lover (unless lana's b-side demo collection is your idea of living)

I'm just missing a hook. That's all. No drama. Like I said... Excited for the cover.

I am a big lover of Lana's catalogue?! This doesn't sound v. LDR to me.

Posted by: troublepink 16th April 2016, 09:21 AM

Right now that i'm home and had some sleep, i've listened to the track properly and this is what i think....

WOW
Very different to what I expected. I was expecting something a bit more dark and twisted and moody
The lyrics are great, very catchy
THE RAP....Pink always said she wanted to be a rapper tongue.gif

Overall I think its a great song, not sure I would say its one of her best ever, but I like it biggrin.gif I'm excited to see the music video now biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Also, when I checked this morning it is at number 5 on the UK iTunes which is amazing considering that apart from social media posts she hasn't really done any promo for this, and I expect it to do well for a while now, especially when the movie is released (which is on my birthday, so thanks for the birthday gift P!nk heehee.gif )

I've also put the video from VEVO in the first post of this thread too, not sure if its been posted here yet, I spent a couple of days away from my laptop and i've too much catching up to do drama.gif laugh.gif

Posted by: T Boy 16th April 2016, 11:29 AM

It's just great to hear new music from her. It sounds a bit old school Pink too which I love, it could have come out of any era between 2002 and 2006. I'm really impressed to see how it's doing on iTunes, she never seems to lose her appeal even after a long break.

Posted by: Iz~ 16th April 2016, 02:56 PM

Lovely! The guitar is light and feathery, it's got a very pleasant sound to it yet with her trademark kick (rap etc) that stops it from becoming boring. She really is so very versatile and enduring as a singer, never a crushing disappointment and always a delight.

I keep meaning to get around to it but haven't yet! I think I'll have to be heading for one of Try This/I'm Not Dead/Funhouse (as those are where I like the most singles) as soon as I get a free moment.

Posted by: Jonjo 17th April 2016, 12:28 AM

'I'm Not Dead' >>> the others <3

Posted by: ℒ𝓲𝓷⻤ 17th April 2016, 12:52 AM

Yes defo start with I'm Not Dead Iz! Although Try This does have a bit of a rock edge to it which you'll probably like too happy.gif

Posted by: T Boy 17th April 2016, 07:51 AM

I'm Not Dead is the best but Try This was my first Pink album and I was hooked after that. Took me quite a while to get round to Can't Take Me Home but even that's pretty good for what it is.

Posted by: Cremey 17th April 2016, 08:10 AM

I'm loving this. She never fails to deliver, does she?!

'Missundaztood' has always been my favourite!
Haven't actually listened to albums for so long though, think I'll have to have a re-listen to them all 😍

Posted by: Iz~ 17th April 2016, 04:24 PM

Well I've just gone through Try This and I'm Not Dead and the latter really is quite amazing. The title track, Runaway, Fences, Centrefold, Conversations... are all going into my 'P!nk tracks I really like' list. Try This is also fairly good although consistently good rather than having named standouts although the rock edge on tracks like Unwind is very welcome.

Posted by: T Boy 17th April 2016, 04:28 PM

Oh Iz, I'm glad you've dabbled. I feel Pink is an artist where the singles just dint quite cover her greatness.

Unwind is a great track heart.gif

Try Missundaztood some time too, in my opinion its her best album. Also some of her b-sides (heartbreaker, words, disconnected...) are amazing too.

Yes at the 'Unwind' love!

Not feeling 'Just Like Fire' yet on first listen, and my mom said the same thing (she's a bigger Pink fan than me tongue.gif). I can sense it being a grower though.

Outstanding video for a strong single. Don't quite understand how the song's much of a departure from what she's built her name on or anything remotely game-changing, but it's definitely catchy and enjoyable for the time-being.

I've always heard 'f***ing like the world up for just one day' (!) rather than 'If I can light the world up...', and never thought to check the lyrics (especially given it's for a family movie etc.) until seeing the video just there. wacko.gif

Posted by: mr_pmt 12th May 2016, 04:43 PM

You can always rely on her to deliver in the videos department!

Posted by: Frank! 25th May 2016, 01:24 PM

She performed JLF on the Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Decent performance, shame the backing track was so that it drowned out practically any live vocals in the chorus though.

Still hearing JLF a lot on the radio etc which is great 😃
