Looks as though video is being shot today.
Please no.
I do like 'Famous', but it's not a single really. What is she/her label thinking when they have so many smashes on the album?
I Like Famous too. While it's far from being one of the album's duds it's also clearly not the strongest on the album. I was hoping 'I Need Ur Luv' would be the next single.
Good song, stupid single.
I love Famous, but would have preferred I Need Ur Love!
Unless this is a hit of some kind - which I can't see it being, I doubt there will be another single. I would have loved hearing 'I Need Ur Luv' on the radio.
The lyrics on Famous are a little childish, just like Break The Rules, which I'm sure had a hand in its flop.
Really like this track but yeah I can't see it being much of a hit sadly. Would love to be proven wrong.
It's a highlight for me but yeah, wouldn't have exactly been my first choice.
I can't actually see there being another hit from this album no matter what was chosen, which is a shame.
I'd rather she released Body of My Own with an added final chorus.
I can hear the instrumental of this track being used in the media, so maybe that's what the label are riding on.
It's the fourth international single?
Weird as the US is still milking out "Doing It" with Charli's Pepsi deal
Yeah we got Break the Rules between Boom Clap and Doing It although it was a big flop in comparison to the other two
Properly love this now actually!
Really hope it doesn't completely bomb.
Waiting for the inevitable Iggy Azalea remix tbh, complete with "paparazzi are flocking" sample.
I really like 'Famous' and it's one of the highlights on the album for me. However, like Joe, I would rather she had gone with 'Need Ur Luv'.
Well this is SUCH a comedown from "Doing It" which is possibly my song of the year so far. Not completely awful but very annoying and easily her worst single.
Would of preferred Need Your Love but meh ok
They can still prevent this tragedy from happening, I hope they do.
Video teaser:
She looks gross. What's she supposed to be?
Wtaf.
WTAF!
I think she's supposed to be a meth-addicted cheerleader?
Charli auditioning for The Walking Dead?
OMG WHAT ON EARTH
Tragic. It's certainly a one of a kind type video.
um... well... :/
OMFG.
I love it. Oops
WHAT THE F*** IS THIS
I don't get it.
Is it some commentary on the digital age turning everyone into Zombies?
Eeeek. :/
All the songs sound the same. She really isn't doing herself any favours in trying to breakthrough successfully. "Boom Clap" was great and I've really warmed to "Doing It", but I guess we'll have to wait and see whether she does a Miley Cyrus and follow-up a few 'meh' eras with something huge.
I think Boom Clap and Doing It are outstanding pop songs but to me this is just a decent album track. I think she was trying to break the Internet with this video and get a Black Widow/Blank Space/Elastic Heart kind of video effect. Famous is not in the top 1,500 though.
I just realised, this song is essentially 'This Is How We Do's brattier cousin (although the chorus on this is a bit stronger).
Eric Wareheim directed it so this is exactly what you'd expect from an Eric Wareheim-directed video
I adore Charli XCX but this video is absolutely horrific
The video is still only on 700k. For a worldwide artist that's pretty poor considering she was clearly trying to go viral with this. I really still am not feeling the song as a single. It hasn't even gone 1,500 here at all.
The video is basically saying 'don't be a Charli XCX fan'.
The video is absolutely crazy, but absolutely amazing - surprised it has such a negative reaction as it's so different (but I guess anything this different is going to be polarising). It's a very unique take on pop culture and the digital world today, very clever video.
Agreed, I think it's a fabulous video. Not the best advertisement for the song or anything and it's a pity it's gone so unnoticed but I think it's both brilliant conceptually and excellently executed. Like it more than anything since her last album, honestly.
The video is very 'what the f*** is going on?' but I don't totally hate it.
Not a patch on "Doing It" though, that has the complete package for me.
What's the impact date for this? Radio 1 haven't playlisted and I can't see them snubbing right now because they always seem to promote artists performing at their big weekend.
She's performing the track on Chatty man on 15 May 2015 I think.
Loved the video, made me laugh a couple of times. It's nice to see something that reflects the world we live in today even if it was an exaggerated, zany form of it.
fantastic little video. a bit too out there for mainstream airplay, surely?
'Break The Rules' should've gotten a bigger push as a single
Playlisted on Radio 1 and Chatty Man performance next week.
Will this go top 40?
Track of the day on Radio 1 today!
(Yes, it was added to the playlist yesterday)
What a terrible song and even worse video. A horror show all round, no pun intended.
Poor gal couldn't even get the song top 200 on iTunes with this performance. I didn't mind it - clearly half (or mostly?) mined though. Her outfit.
I can't believe this is playlisted by Radio 1, had good promotion (Alan Carr, MTV movie awards) and isn't even able to go top 200 on iTunes I hope this massive flop doesn't stop Radio 1 from ever touching her again!
I called it. What a waste of promotion and radio support. The song is just not single-worthy. You can't force ANYTHING down people's throats.
I need Ur Luv is so quirky and different too. And it's just sitting on the album.
Also, go to 0;48... The Audience are LOVING IT
What an absolute mess of a performance and song, Quite rare for a decent promo slot to result in no iTunes movement.
Couldnt believe the Alan Carr thing. Such a mess, Kesha on speed wearing a cheap Elvis suit.
In all fairness, Alan Carr rarely has much of an effect on the chart! I remember The Vamps' Last Night having one dark green update following their performance and then nothing else lol.
it's hardly a song to be released, but the video is a QT idea i guess.
I'm undecided how I feel about this single. We've still got till the 1st of June before it's official release so maybe with some radio playlisting and some TV performances (dare I say it, possibly BGT) we could get a Top 20 peak and then I'd be very happy with the Sucker campaign. 'Need Your Love' is my favourite but that can never be a single.
For an album that peaked at 15 (I believe) to get two top 10s, a top 20 and a top 40 is decent enough if this follows through.
Video is cute though
I've just noticed Famous is 59p on iTunes and that doesn't seem to be helping either.
Its just not a commercial song
I'm not expecting much from this song, but I would like to see a top 100 entry. It has now charted at #176 as of last week and is now up to #88 on iTunes, A-list is helping it, it won't make the top 100 this week, but might next week. (149 in yesterday's midweeks)
Took me ages to get around to listening to this but sounded great actually. Hope it does well in the chart
#149 in the midweeks is rather tragic considering its A-Listed, Had prime time TV exposure, a video, Reduced to 59p on iTunes, Available to stream and is from a poor selling album meaning not many people already own it....
Looks like 'Famous' will not make the top 100. I have grown to really love it but it was a silly single choice. #133 in yesterday's midweeks.
I predict the same thing is going to have that happened with so many of my favourites. Where maximum radio support (two weeks radio 1 A list) resulting in still flopping hinders the support of the next, far superior single.
It happened with Jessie Ware 'You & I', Katy Perry's 'Birthday', for example. Both of which had maximum support, and didn't do that well (in their own ways) - and then 'Champagne Kisses' and 'This is How We Do' got like C-C-B-B out type support and even though they outsold the singles that came before, but were never able to properly smash.
I can see this happening with "need ur luv'
