BuzzJack Music Forum _ Pop _ Susan Boyle - Ten

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 13th April 2019, 10:43 PM

Susan Boyle's new album Ten will be released on May 31st. It's a compilation album with 17 tracks: 13 old and 4 new - she has kept the 4 new tracks a secret!

This is her first album since coming back into the spotlight since her AGT Champions appearance and celebrates 10 years since her BGT audition.

Susan Boyle will return for the BGT live shows to perform a single from this album, which will be around mid May.

I'm sure many here would be surprised that I'm a big Susan fan (#susanalbumparty) - but she got me into musical theatre, which I'm a big fan of still.

She still has an incredible voice even 10 years later! biggrin.gif

Her BGT performance from earlier - still got it smile.gif

The lead track is a cover of A Million Dreams from The Greatest Showman with Michael Ball & the Rock Choir

The public still love them though - with a good promo slot on BGT this could do quite well for SuBo. (perhaps even top 40 with high iTunes sales)

Susan Boyle has an amazing voice but the problem is the material she has been given. It’s the usual dull, dreary covers that lack any originality or creativity. Typical of Simco.

But that $ort of $tuff $ells though wink.gif

It has done very well in general to date for her although interest has declined.
With her back in the limelight i can see this album performing much better for her.

She sold well initially but she has declined a lot. Had they invested in her properly as an artist by giving her better material then more interest might have been sustained!

But to be fair, the loss of interest was due to zero promo - due to Susan's mental health. Which luckily she has now improved.

I'm no fan of The Greatest Showman, but the public still love it. So Never Enough is probably a safe bet for Syco to launch her comeback with.

I think the latter albums have more targeted for the USA market than UK. She's done a decent deal for Syco ever since she's released on there...7 albums and she's now sold 20+ million plus albums! so incredible.

'Ten' is a great way to give her career a boost. But honestly i think she's dreamed and lived her dream now. She'll be very well off now and if she doesn't do anything else i wouldn't feel sad. There's only so many times you can keep covering the same type of songs either give this woman some original music or lets leave it at that, personally.

I hear they're a lot of fun.

The other two missing songs are.

500 Miles
Climb Every Mountain

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 18th April 2019, 11:08 AM

As in The Proclaimers? laugh.gif

Bloody hell that's going to be incredible!

There was me thinking her covers of Baby Got Back and Milkshake might make it in this time :')

Posted by: Bjork 18th April 2019, 05:39 PM

Cant be the Proclaimers song

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 18th April 2019, 06:07 PM

It is! I've done some research and apparently she performed it live a couple of years ago at some Scottish event.

What other '500 Miles' songs are there anyway? tongue.gif

Posted by: Bjork 18th April 2019, 07:54 PM

boh the Proclaimers song is called I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles), not 500 Miles
and there is actually an old folk song from the 70s or something called 500 Miles

but if she covered the Proclaimers track before, sure then that's the song

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 18th April 2019, 07:59 PM

Actually it could be the folk song tongue.gif (by Peter, Paul & Mary)

I can't find where Idreamed got their info from for the two unnamed songs.

Posted by: Idreamed 18th April 2019, 08:18 PM

I signed up to her site, everyone that did had an email last week with the full tracklist and signed copies of her CD.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 18th April 2019, 08:20 PM

Ah fair enough!

Posted by: Idreamed 18th April 2019, 08:23 PM

The album was called "A Million Dreams" with only 3 new songs, but they changed it.

Also a Diane Warren song was supposed to be on it, but that now seems to be shelved.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 23rd April 2019, 07:00 PM

It is indeed The Proclaimers' 500 Miles!

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 2nd May 2019, 08:55 AM

A Million Dreams is premiering on Ken Bruce's show at 11am!

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 3rd May 2019, 04:34 PM

Not the biggest fan of the song - but this is very good!

Posted by: Idreamed 6th May 2019, 07:10 AM

Does anyone think this will sell more than 20,000 in the 1st week?

Posted by: gavindeejay 6th May 2019, 06:47 PM

I doubt it’ll sell half that!

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 6th May 2019, 06:54 PM

It's coming out on the BGT semis/final week - Syco are going to give her a good slot.

I wouldn't be surprised if it sells 20k+ but I reckon it'll be around 10k.
It's her first in a while so it's hard to tell.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 27th May 2019, 10:40 AM

Susan & Michael Ball will be performing 'A Million Dreams' on the BGT final on Saturday - should help the album with sales.

Posted by: Jordan Lee 27th May 2019, 11:18 AM

I think it might have good sales personally.

She’s got a big promo slot.

I could see her selling 20K.

I can see this album outselling her last album too.
