Who was your preferred finalist from each series? How many times was your favourite finalist also the winner?

Who I wanted to win in...
2004: Steve Brookstein
2005: Shayne Ward
2006: Leona Lewis
2007: Same Difference blush.gif
2008: Alexandra Burke
2009: Stacey Solomon
2010: Rebecca Ferguson
2011: Little Mix
2012: James Arthur
2013: Sam Bailey

More often than not my favourite finalist went on to be the winner! I wasn't disappointed by the Leon Jackson/Joe McElderry/Matt Cardle wins though, so I've generally always been satisfied with who wins. That might change next week if Ben wins.

2004 - I hated G4, so although I wasn't particularly fond of Steve even during his time on the show, he was my preferred winner out of the two.
2007 - I was happy enough with Leon winning, I never understood Rhydian's appeal.
2012 - Probably my least favourite final in recent years - I didn't overly care about any of the finalists. James Arthur was the best outcome though, and that's saying something.
2013 - Dreadful really, those two boys were poor competition for Sam Bailey.

The 2009 and 2010 finals were the best, all would have made worthy winners!

I still can't quite believe some of the acts who managed to make it to the finals stage: Nicholas McDonald, Luke Friend, Christopher Maloney, Marcus Collins, Eoghan Quigg... blink.gif

I watched from 2007:

2007 - oddly I remember wanting Leon to win really badly out of the fina two, Same Difference beforehand (tbf what an awful year, Niki was about the best! Oh and Alisha but she was f***ed over really sad.gif Rhydian was obv super talented but really not my thing)
2008 - Alexandra <3
2009 - Stacey and Olly were pretty much neck and neck my fave all the way through and they intermittently overtook each other week by week depending on the performances, I wanted stacey slightly more but then I really gunned for Olly when she came 3rd.
2010 - Rebecca
2011 - Little Mix
2012 - James (worst final ever though)
2013 - Sam (this is pretty much tied for worst final ever but she was vocally amazing at least even if the other two were crap)
2014 - I want Fleur

I was happy with Matt winning in 2010 though and I didn't hate Joe so I'm not too annoyed at his win, although at the time I was gutted for Stacey and then Olly! Leon was a bit of a shit winner looking back but I was 10 then and I was happy enough for him to win laugh.gif I usually get the outcome I want too, Ben will be the first winner since Leon I really don't like if (or sadly, when) he wins sad.gif

The only 2 acts I've ever truly rooted for are Matt Cardle and Little Mix.

I still cant believe Matt was given that Gary Barlow cast off song, Loving you last year proved with the right material he would have done fine or at least had a Shayne Ward career.

laugh.gif! You've seen right though me. kink.gif

I never really understood his appeal tbh. He's not the worst in that list I made, but he wasn't for me! Joseph loved him, I know me mentioning Luke unfavourably won't best please him! teresa.gif

2004: I don't remember anything about this series at all
2005: Shayne. I only really remember him and Chico, though.
2006: Leona
2007: I stopped caring by the final
2008: Alexandra! Though so many others would've made a fine winner as well.
2009: Either Stacey or Olly.
2010: Rebecca Ferguson, though I liked all 4 to an extent. 1D were better after the show.
2011: Little Mix, though I loved Amelia and Misha B as well.
2012: All 3 were awful, so Jahmene by default. Union J and Ella were my favourites, though.
2013: Luke
2014: Fleur

2004: Steve Brookstein (purely out of G4 hate)
2005: Shayne Ward
2006: Leona Lewis
2007: Leon Jackson (didn't care at all though)
2008: Alexandra Burke
2009: Joe McElderry
2010: Rebecca Ferguson
2011: Little Mix
2012: James Arthur (again, didn't care)
2013: Sam Bailey (awful awful)
2014: Fleur East

So the only year it didn't go my way was 2010 (but I liked Matt and 1D too, so I could cope with it, was a fab final). However a lot of them was out of sheer desperation due to how bad the other finalists were. Hopefully this means Fleur can take it, after last night I think she has an even better chance now.

2004: Steve Brookstein / G4 - don't really remember watching this too avidly ohmy.gif
2005: Shayne Ward / Andy Abraham / Journey South - oops lmao, but I did go on to enjoy Shayne's material a LOT more than Andy's, as most people would have.
2006: Leona Lewis / Ray Quinn - no question, I loved Leona and was never huge on Ray.
2007: Leon Jackson / Rhydian Roberts / Same Difference - the lesser of three evils lmao. Didn't like ANY of them, all rubbish.
2008: Alexandra Burke / JLS / Eoghan Quigg - of course heart.gif
2009: Joe McElderry / Olly Murs / Stacey Solomon - Stacey and Joe were my 1st and 2nd favourites for the entire series so I was happy with the result anyway!
2010: Matt Cardle / Rebecca Ferguson / One Direction / Cher Lloyd - not bolding 1D, I know I know!! They were my 2nd faves and obviously I've gone on to enjoy their music more.
2011: Little Mix / Marcus Collins / Amelia Lily - wasn't entirely sold on Little Mix at this point but they were preferable to Marcus by a mile.
2012: James Arthur / Jahméne Douglas / Christopher Maloney - again, the lesser of three evils lmao :/
2013: Sam Bailey / Nicholas McDonald / Luke Friend - heart.gif one of my favourite contestants ever
