 5 years ago, as a 17-year-old sixth form student, I was finally convinced by Bré and April to join in the fun of BJSC. I mention my studies because it was probably a bit naughty when A Levels were in full swing. But hey, everyone needs a distraction or two right? I signed up as Jadakissnia and debuted in 74 alongside forever allies Aprogonia (still in our hearts x), Cor Lupus and Flynnonda. We started off on a good note with a 13th place finish in that contest! We've had a few bumps in the road (I like to forget 77 ever happened) but I'd like to think that we've established ourselves as a fairly successful and diverse nation. From Spanish pop to witch house, we love finding a new discovery to unleash in this contest. So... let's go back through the archives! The ground-breaking Aphex Twin has provided everything from ambient to off-the-wall electronic music for over 30 years now. We've decided to select the classic 'Ageispolis' from 'Selected Ambient Works 85–92'! It's been a huge favourite of ours for years, so it feels right to send this in terms of passion for the song and to be a bit cheaper than we usually are. Here we have an über soothing bleepy bloopy instrumental. Does it sound familiar? Well that might be because Die Antwoord sampled it in their song 'Ugly Boy'. I appreciate that version too. But nothing quite compares to the blissful original. In Hendinia tonight it was announced that we'll be in slot one of semi 1. Opening the whole contest, no pressure! We hope you guys enjoy our anniversary entry. It's been a pleasure to be a part of 50 contests in a row - so much escapism over the years and plenty of brilliant discoveries. We're going nowhere

Been a fan from the very start with me pointing highly Virtual Paradise. Top picks from Dobago would be Scope (gave that a random play a few weeks back, tune), Waqqaberry & Gauc n Bass. I do believe we've never given each other top marks yet

I love that you listened to 'Scope' recently - funnily enough, Mssingno finally released some new music the other week and I'd highly recommend those songs too. Annoyingly they're only available on Bandcamp though - my poor 2020 Spotify playlist  Yay! Glad to hear it - fingers crossed it qualifies tonight. |

We QUALIFIED for the BJSC 123 final with Aphex Twin - Ageispolis!
Tonight it was announced (by Sharon Mitchell) in Hendinia that we have progressed to the final of BJSC 123! We are over the moon that our anniversary entry 'Ageispolis' found enough fans in semi 1 to make it. This is our 10th qualifier in a row which matches our longest ever qualifying streak! We currently have the joint 2nd longest streak in the contest, tying with Altyr Muunilinst and Hushkanukia who are also on 10. Fljótavík lead the way with 13 qualifiers, following BJSC heavyweights Aeroche and FARC DNQing. This is our 43rd qualifier to date. Thanks so much to everyone who voted for us! We've been drawn in slot 21 of the final. Here's to a solid result! Semi 1 votes: 12 Q 10 Q 08 Q 07 Elëdan: Arca - @@@@@ 06 Q 05 Q 04 Q 03 Q 02 Flynnonda: Yaeji - WAKING UP DOWN 01 Q Jadakissnia alumnus Arca scored us a 9th place finish in the first Pride spin-off with 'Desafío' but sadly this success could not be replicated for our 7 pointer '@@@@@'. It may just have something to do with the length of this one. We just get the feeling. Our fellow BJSC 74 debutants Flynnonda also failed to reach the final with Yaeji, who has previously made it. Here's to a better result with their own 50th anniversary entry next time! We were happy to get as many as 8 of our votes through. Would-be Semi 2 votes: 12 Q 10 Q 08 Skall: Laurel Halo & Hodge - Tru 07 Q 06 Q 05 Q 04 Thelonia: NOISY - Bring The Drums Back 03 Q 02 Q 01 Oslol: MIREI - Lonely In Tokyo Skall flopped again with a good song. Rude. Thelonia's DNQ was quite the shocker as it had a great reaction on BeatSense (plug.dj's drunk cousin) and definitely stands out from the crowd. Let's not make #TheloniaRacism a trend again! Oslol was also a bit of a shock. That was a catchy pop number right there. |

Taking on the task of attempting to rank all 50 of your main contest entries because why not xx (I voted for nearly all of these songs so it's tough to rank some of them
 )It's kind of tough to decide where to rank 'Ageispolis' as it's the only entry of yours that I don't associate with BJSC at all, having been a fave song for me outside of the contest for years - it could easily be #1 here but decided to give that spot to an actual BJSC discovery as it'd feel a bit wrong otherwise!
