BuzzJack Music Forum _ Dua Lipa _ Lost In Your Light (feat. Miguel) • Fifth Single

Posted by: Juan Carlos 🌊 Apr 8 2017, 06:39 PM

Dua Lipa was http://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/dua-lipa-interview-things-couldnt-be-going-any-better-right-now__18102/ by Rob Copsey from the Official Charts back in February and she mentioned that a new single from her is coming out (soon) and she teased a collaboration too. That said, looks like the cat is out of the bag and the track will be released in two weeks.

Miguel ohmy.gif Interesting! I've loved everything she's put out so naturally I'm hyped biggrin.gif

Posted by: Davidson Apr 9 2017, 01:16 PM

Wow at Miguel collab, that is unexpected. I am expecting something wonderful as I don't think Miguel has been on a bad song yet.

Posted by: John-James Apr 9 2017, 03:04 PM

April 21st kink.gif

The title of the song, which is "Lost In Your Light", is out there, so I can update this thread with Miguel as the featured artist too.

Miguel... wub.gif

There's a 15-second preview of the track posted on her social media, which confirms that the release date will be on April 21.

Oh no, this is her first single I'm not immediately on board with sad.gif I like the verses but the chorus feels very uneventful. Agreed with many that this is her 'So Good' moment, I'll be very surprised if this isn't her lowest peaking single (aside from the couple that didn't chart pre-Hotter Than Hell) and not what she needs to lead the album with.

(I heard a snippet of the MK Remix though and that sounds much better and should be the single edit)

Posted by: Andrew♀ Apr 20 2017, 05:42 PM

It's good, but there's nothing really special about it...while it may be her 'So Good' it's a masterpiece compared to that though laugh.gif

can someone pm me a link plz x

Posted by: JosephStyles🐶 Apr 21 2017, 12:41 AM

OK this is actually so much better than the clip suggested! The production is slick and Dua and Miguel work surprisingly well together. Actually quite impressed ohmy.gif

Posted by: jase. Apr 21 2017, 12:43 AM

Falls a bit flat for me on first listen sad.gif

Posted by: jjake Apr 21 2017, 02:51 AM

this is terrible isn't it?

Posted by: jjake Apr 21 2017, 02:51 AM

APPAULING

Posted by: ♀mdh♀ Apr 21 2017, 08:43 AM

Ngl this has flop written all over it for me. Nowhere near as instant as all her other top 40 singles - can't see myself going back to this either sad.gif

Posted by: Tinasha Apr 21 2017, 08:49 AM

Better than I expected, but sounds like a post album single, not something to lead a campaign.

Posted by: danG Apr 21 2017, 10:46 AM

It is quite good but I have to agree it's a letdown compared to her previous singles. sad.gif

Posted by: HausofIRNBRU Apr 21 2017, 11:05 AM

Lmao I was not expecting this response from you guys. I think it's really really good !!!

Miguel sounds so embedded in the song and not just a feature thrown on, a proper duet. I'm a big fan <3

Posted by: liamk97 Apr 21 2017, 11:07 AM

^ Agreed Bal! On first listen, I think this sounds really good and seems like something that could be a hit. As you say, Miguel fits so naturally into the song too.

Posted by: Liаm Apr 21 2017, 11:12 AM

I agree, this sounds like radio would eat it up! It's not my absolute fave of hers by any stretch but I think it will grow and I do like it.

Posted by: ___∆___ Apr 21 2017, 11:23 AM

Hopefully it's a grower as it's not a standout for me.

And I'm so over the hype and excitement I felt for Dua and the album - it's still like another 5 or so weeks until it's released and I don't think this song will make it sell anymore than it would have nocheer.gif

but is this a single proper or just a Grat?

A proper single!

Posted by: Andrew♀ Apr 21 2017, 02:39 PM

Finding this a lot better on second listen, it's still nowhere near her other lead hits but it's only been a day and Blow Your Mind and Hotter Than Hell were two of the best pop songs last year *.* Yeah it'll be big on radio, pretty big overall I'd say!

I'd rank her songs so far as~

wub.gif
1. Blow Your Mind (Mwah)
2. Hotter Than Hell
3. Be The One
4. Room For 2 (Really underrated)
biggrin.gif
5. Last Dance
6. Lost In Your Light (feat. Miguel)
7. New Love
Meh
8. Thinking Bout You

Posted by: JosephStyles🐶 Apr 21 2017, 02:53 PM

(Scared to Be Lonely)
1. Blow Your Mind (Mwah)
2. Hotter Than Hell
3. Be the One
4. Lost In Your Light
(No Lie)
-- big gap --
5. Last Dance
6. New Love

Not heard the instant grats as I've been saving them for the album, been a longer wait than I anticipated :')

No Lie
>
Scared To Be Lonely
>>

Be Yhe One
Scared To Be Lonely
Blow Your Mind
Hotter Than Hell

Last Dance
Lost In Your Mind (will move up soon probs)
Room For 2
No Lie

New Love

Thinking About You (by FAR her worst)

Posted by: LustForLife Apr 21 2017, 09:52 PM

This is quite nice and sounds like the type of song that will grow a lot with time.

Posted by: Dobbo Apr 22 2017, 02:15 PM

This sounds so bland & forgettable, next.

Posted by: Andrew♀ Apr 22 2017, 02:24 PM

Okay I'm loving this now! wub.gif It really does need to be a hit for her though or I'm scared the album will be pushed back to September or something laugh.gif (I've had it on pre-order for five months now :'))

Posted by: (Zach) Apr 22 2017, 04:37 PM

This is all very Zara Larsson, each new song is less and less enjoyable. Thinking 'Bout You, Room for 2, and now this are all underwhelming. I fear that this era will be dead by the time the album drops.

Posted by: Bjork Apr 23 2017, 06:13 AM

if the label is so desperate to sell this album, they should have gone with the Chris Martin duet instead of this, which is nice but not a wow song to gain new fans like a duet with Chris Martin would

Posted by: Dexton Apr 26 2017, 09:03 AM

I think this is fine, the only bad thing would be the actual production of it which makes it sound like just a deal. More of a funky/house sort of vibe, akin to maybe Duke Dumont, would suit it much better than whatever it has right now. Here's to hoping for a good remix eventually.

Be The One will always be her best though, lets be honest tongue.gif

I guess the Chris Martin song might be a ballad whereas this ones more breezy and perfect for summer?!

Posted by: 360Jupiter Apr 26 2017, 10:41 PM

It is a grower but not as good as Be The One or Scared to Be Lonely.

I wouldn't be surprised if after the surprise success of those two, they're quickly retooling the album to put another song like that on and just releasing more singles to keep interest up while they're stalling.

Doing re-releases of albums with a bunch of new tracks seems to've fallen by the wayside these days.

Posted by: (Zach) Apr 27 2017, 12:54 AM

1. Blow Your Mind 10/10
2. No Lie 9.5/10
3. Hotter Than Hell 9/10
4. Scared To Be Lonely 8/10
5. Be The One 7/10
6. Last Dance 6.5/10
7. Room For 2 6/10
8. Lost In Your Light 4/10
9. New Love 2/10
10. Thinking 'Bout You 2/10

I dare say this had the potential to be at least semi decent if the chorus wasn't so underwhelming and flat.

Posted by: Klaus May 27 2017, 10:02 AM

I sort of agree. sad.gif

I love the verses but the chorus really is so flat that its prevented me from getting into it as much as her other singles.

Posted by: awardinary Jun 10 2017, 07:52 PM

Frustrated to see this flop so badly. Hope there's still time for one more single from the album now that it's been released.

Gawd, they just wanna be different for the sake of it don't they?

Posted by: Dexton Dec 1 2017, 03:39 AM

It's not like Lost In Your Light is at all a bad song though laugh.gif Sure it was the wrong single to release after the success of Be The One / No Lie / Scared To Be Lonely, but it's still good biggrin.gif

It's a good job Dua didn't release/push New Rules until later on in the year anyway. There's no way she would have got a #1 a few months earlier with the Shape of You/Despacito takeover

Posted by: Joe. Dec 4 2017, 09:05 AM

The Rolling Stones lists are a total mess.

Posted by: Jack Dec 4 2017, 05:14 PM

Well, they ranked 'Sign Of The Times' as the best song of the year so the list is null and void automatically.
