Dua Lipa was http://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/dua-lipa-interview-things-couldnt-be-going-any-better-right-now__18102/ by Rob Copsey from the Official Charts back in February and she mentioned that a new single from her is coming out (soon) and she teased a collaboration too. That said, looks like the cat is out of the bag and the track will be released in two weeks.
Miguel Interesting! I've loved everything she's put out so naturally I'm hyped
Wow at Miguel collab, that is unexpected. I am expecting something wonderful as I don't think Miguel has been on a bad song yet.
April 21st
The title of the song, which is "Lost In Your Light", is out there, so I can update this thread with Miguel as the featured artist too.
Miguel...
There's a 15-second preview of the track posted on her social media, which confirms that the release date will be on April 21.
Oh no, this is her first single I'm not immediately on board with I like the verses but the chorus feels very uneventful. Agreed with many that this is her 'So Good' moment, I'll be very surprised if this isn't her lowest peaking single (aside from the couple that didn't chart pre-Hotter Than Hell) and not what she needs to lead the album with.
(I heard a snippet of the MK Remix though and that sounds much better and should be the single edit)
It's good, but there's nothing really special about it...while it may be her 'So Good' it's a masterpiece compared to that though
can someone pm me a link plz x
OK this is actually so much better than the clip suggested! The production is slick and Dua and Miguel work surprisingly well together. Actually quite impressed
Falls a bit flat for me on first listen
this is terrible isn't it?
APPAULING
Ngl this has flop written all over it for me. Nowhere near as instant as all her other top 40 singles - can't see myself going back to this either
Better than I expected, but sounds like a post album single, not something to lead a campaign.
It is quite good but I have to agree it's a letdown compared to her previous singles.
Lmao I was not expecting this response from you guys. I think it's really really good !!!
Miguel sounds so embedded in the song and not just a feature thrown on, a proper duet. I'm a big fan <3
^ Agreed Bal! On first listen, I think this sounds really good and seems like something that could be a hit. As you say, Miguel fits so naturally into the song too.
I agree, this sounds like radio would eat it up! It's not my absolute fave of hers by any stretch but I think it will grow and I do like it.
Hopefully it's a grower as it's not a standout for me.
And I'm so over the hype and excitement I felt for Dua and the album - it's still like another 5 or so weeks until it's released and I don't think this song will make it sell anymore than it would have
but is this a single proper or just a Grat?
Finding this a lot better on second listen, it's still nowhere near her other lead hits but it's only been a day and Blow Your Mind and Hotter Than Hell were two of the best pop songs last year *.* Yeah it'll be big on radio, pretty big overall I'd say!
I'd rank her songs so far as~
1. Blow Your Mind (Mwah)
2. Hotter Than Hell
3. Be The One
4. Room For 2 (Really underrated)
5. Last Dance
6. Lost In Your Light (feat. Miguel)
7. New Love
Meh
8. Thinking Bout You
(Scared to Be Lonely)
1. Blow Your Mind (Mwah)
2. Hotter Than Hell
3. Be the One
4. Lost In Your Light
(No Lie)
-- big gap --
5. Last Dance
6. New Love
Not heard the instant grats as I've been saving them for the album, been a longer wait than I anticipated :')
No Lie
>
Scared To Be Lonely
>>
Be The One
Blow Your Mind
>
Hotter Than Hell
>>
Lost In Your Light
...so far. I can't recall how the rest of them go :')
Be Yhe One
Scared To Be Lonely
Blow Your Mind
Hotter Than Hell
Last Dance
Lost In Your Mind (will move up soon probs)
Room For 2
No Lie
New Love
Thinking About You (by FAR her worst)
This is quite nice and sounds like the type of song that will grow a lot with time.
This sounds so bland & forgettable, next.
Okay I'm loving this now! It really does need to be a hit for her though or I'm scared the album will be pushed back to September or something (I've had it on pre-order for five months now :'))
This is all very Zara Larsson, each new song is less and less enjoyable. Thinking 'Bout You, Room for 2, and now this are all underwhelming. I fear that this era will be dead by the time the album drops.
if the label is so desperate to sell this album, they should have gone with the Chris Martin duet instead of this, which is nice but not a wow song to gain new fans like a duet with Chris Martin would
I think this is fine, the only bad thing would be the actual production of it which makes it sound like just a deal. More of a funky/house sort of vibe, akin to maybe Duke Dumont, would suit it much better than whatever it has right now. Here's to hoping for a good remix eventually.
Be The One will always be her best though, lets be honest
It is a grower but not as good as Be The One or Scared to Be Lonely.
I wouldn't be surprised if after the surprise success of those two, they're quickly retooling the album to put another song like that on and just releasing more singles to keep interest up while they're stalling.
Doing re-releases of albums with a bunch of new tracks seems to've fallen by the wayside these days.
1. Blow Your Mind 10/10
2. No Lie 9.5/10
3. Hotter Than Hell 9/10
4. Scared To Be Lonely 8/10
5. Be The One 7/10
6. Last Dance 6.5/10
7. Room For 2 6/10
8. Lost In Your Light 4/10
9. New Love 2/10
10. Thinking 'Bout You 2/10
I dare say this had the potential to be at least semi decent if the chorus wasn't so underwhelming and flat.
I sort of agree.
I love the verses but the chorus really is so flat that its prevented me from getting into it as much as her other singles.
Frustrated to see this flop so badly. Hope there's still time for one more single from the album now that it's been released.
This has been ranked the 34th Best Song of 2017 by Rolling Stone!
http://www.rollingstone.com/music/lists/50-best-songs-of-2017-w512456
No 'New Rules' though.
It's not like Lost In Your Light is at all a bad song though Sure it was the wrong single to release after the success of Be The One / No Lie / Scared To Be Lonely, but it's still good
It's a good job Dua didn't release/push New Rules until later on in the year anyway. There's no way she would have got a #1 a few months earlier with the Shape of You/Despacito takeover
The Rolling Stones lists are a total mess.
Well, they ranked 'Sign Of The Times' as the best song of the year so the list is null and void automatically.
