RESULTS:

This Year / Last Year / Playoff Position / Artist / Song / Points Gained

60 60 22 Timbaland (feat. Justin Timberlake & Nelly Furtado) - Give It To Me 96
59 58 25 Mutya Buena - Real Girl 98
58 51 24 Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Catch You 114
57 59 7 Alicia Keys - No One 129
56 27 - Mark Ronson (feat. Daniel Merriweather) - Stop Me 141
55 55 21 Amy Winehouse - Love Is A Losing Game 149
54 16 - Beyoncé & Shakira - Beautiful Liar 153
53 33 - Klaxons - Golden Skans 164
52 RE 18 HelloGoodbye - Here (In Your Arms) 166
51 44 23 Aly & AJ - Potential Breakup Song 168
50 40 14 Killers - Read My Mind 170
49 NE 17 50 Cent (feat. Justin Timberlake) - Ayo Technology 171
48 48 20 Kelly Clarkson - Never Again 172
47 30 - T2 (feat. Jodie Ayesha) - Heartbroken 172
46 46 4 Rihanna - Shut Up And Drive 178
45 22 - Freemasons (feat. Bailey Tzuke) - Uninvited 179
44 17 - Mason vs Princess Superstar - Perfect (Exceeder) 184
43 23 - Kanye West - Stronger 188
42 52 9 Fergie (feat. Ludacris) - Glamorous 188
41 39 10 Mika - Grace Kelly 189
40 35 - Beyoncé - Listen 190
39 42 15 Arctic Monkeys - Brianstorm 196
38 57 19 Justin Timberlake - LoveStoned/I Think That She Knows 199
37 21 - Arctic Monkeys - Fluorescent Adolescent 200
36 37 3 JoJo - Too Little Too Late 200

This one we do care about as these will have to get nominated and go through the first round again. Especially bad for the two Arctics songs as alt music is often disadvantaged in any round. Give It To Me finishes last two years in a row, incidentally with one more point than last year. Shut Up And Drive repeats its performance that it does in most years too, strong finish in the playoff then loses most of its votes to stronger pop songs in the yearly final. Playoff bronze JoJo just misses out. And we lose two of the three new/reentries here as HelloGoodbye and 50 Cent don't pick up huge support. Big falls for Mason and Beyonce/Shakira, both in the top 20 last time but right down the bottom this year.

35 43 13 Kaiser Chiefs - Ruby 201
34 19 - Ida Corr & Fedde Le Grand - Let Me Think About It 201
33 49 6 Christina Aguilera - Candyman 202
32 12 - Groove Armada (feat. Mutya Buena) - Song 4 Mutya 203
31 18 - Fray - How To Save A Life 204
30 36 2 Alex Gaudino (feat. Crystal Waters) - Destination Calabria 208
29 53 11 Fall Out Boy - Thnks Fr Th Mmrs 209
28 NE 5 Fall Out Boy - This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race 209
27 38 1 Gwen Stefani - The Sweet Escape 212
26 20 - Justice - D.A.N.C.E 214
25 45 16 Bloc Party - Flux 215
24 41 12 Calvin Harris - Acceptable In The 80s 216
23 13 - Mark Ronson (feat. Amy Winehouse) - Valerie 218
22 29 - Take That - Rule The World 222
21 54 8 Avril Lavigne - When You're Gone 224
20 32 - Avril Lavigne - Girlfriend 230
19 34 - Gossip - Standing In The Way Of Control 232
18 25 - Amy Winehouse - You Know I'm No Good 237
17 31 - Timbaland and OneRepublic - Apologize 241
16 26 - Foo Fighters - The Pretender 241

The Fall Out Boy pair become autoqualifiers for the first time this year biggrin.gif It's the second go for Thnks Fr Th Mmrs and the first for This Ain't A Scene but they won't have to suffer round one again. Neither will the likes of The Sweet Escape, Destination Calabria and When You're Gone, that one being the highest of the qualifiers this time.

There was a tiebreak over the last two votes I was deciding have qualified The Pretender over Apologize (PSA: now I'm a bit more sorted, for the finals the criteria used will be firstly votes that had the song in their top 10 (+25 to +16), then number of votes, and the Foos had 9 to OneRepublic's 5), but Jay swooped in and put the other Timbaland song in ahead of both of these.

15 9 - Timbaland (feat. Keri Hilson & DOE) - The Way I Are 252
14 24 - Justin Timberlake - What Goes Around... Comes Around 268
13 10 - Kate Nash - Foundations 268
12 15 - Amy Winehouse - Tears Dry On Their Own 270
11 28 - Fergie - Big Girls Don't Cry 301
10 11 - Leona Lewis - Bleeding Love 318
9 14 - Paramore - Misery Business 328
8 7 - Nelly Furtado - Say It Right 337
7 8 - Britney Spears - Gimme More 360
6 6 - Girls Aloud - Sexy! No No No 382

A big clap for the Timberlake and Fergie as they secure places to the semis in lieu of Song 4 Mutya and Valerie, all of last year's top 10 are in here with the biggest mover into the top ten being PARAMORE <3, again at one point threatening to qualify but against the deluge of well-loved pop songs couldn't quite get to the top 5.

5 3 - Girls Aloud - Call The Shots 408
4 5 - Amy Winehouse - Back To Black 414
3 2 - Robyn - With Every Heartbeat 450
2 4 - Sugababes - About You Now 503
1 1 - Rihanna (feat. Jay-Z) - Umbrella 530

Yeah, the top 5, and indeed the top 8 is the same as last year, we've got a well-solidified contingent up here. I expect most of you will be very happy about this, they are all indeed strong songs. Notably though, last year's winner has gone down from finishing in 2nd last time to 3rd this time - so is that an early sign that it won't defend its title or not? Umbrella beat it last year as well in this round and all songs start on equal footing in the final...

Pretty poor trade of AQs there, Mason/T2/Klaxons/Mark & Daniel are sad departures and most of the new ones aren't too great (bleh at how low Hellogoodbye finished as well). Yay for Alex Gaudino and double Fall Out Boy I guess, and happy to see Justin climbing into the top 15.
