21 1048 GAYLE - abcdefu (...-1-1-1-1-3-3-6-11-11-11-10-11-26-27-30-34-xx-57-xx) [17 wks]
22 1028 Ava Max - Maybe You're The Problem (7-4-6-5-4-4-3-8-8-6-6-13-20-35-35-43-57-xx) [17 wks]
23 1027 Griff & Sigrid - Head On Fire (13-6-8-6-3-4-5-7-12-16-14-15-17-18-36-49-xx-59-53-xx) [18 wks]
24 1019 Charli XCX feat. Rina Sawayama - Beg For You (7-3-1-1-1-1-1-2-2-5-7-8-19-23-40-xx) [15 wks]
25 994 Sophie Ellis-Bextor & Wuh Oh - Hypnotized (44-25-25-15-10-7-6-7-14-11-12-15-17-28-23-23-39-55-xx) [18 wks]

With a little help from JSG, Sophie Ellis-Bextor's 'Hypnotized' became her first Multichart top 10 hit since 'Bittersweet' in 2010. Buzzjack collectively lost their shit when Charli XCX collabed with Rina Sawayama and interpolated September's naughties classic 'Cry for You'. Griff reached the Multichart top 10 for the first time with her Sigrid duet 'Head On Fire'.

Sometimes confused with an electric car, pop star Ava Max continued her Multichart relevance in 2022. 'Maybe You're The Problem' with its mouthful of a chorus spent an impressive 11 weeks in the top 10. And there was a time we won't remember fondly of where GAYLE's 'abcdefu' was found atop the chart for an entire month.

Haven't been following this but now I am. Shawn, Taylor, ROSALIA, Charli & Rina, Ava, George (AFY), Griff and Sigrid and yes even GAYLE as unpopular as that is here are all highlights.

'Hypnotized' smashing the top 25 here though *.* g'won Sophie in 2022!

16 1104 Nicki Minaj - Super Freaky Girl (25-11-12-7-8-4-4-4-6-6-9-16-18-25-26-24-28-31-xx) [18 wks]
17 1090 Steve Lacy - Bad Habit (61-32-31-21-21-20-17-16-13-11-7-10-12-19-19-20-24-33-30-35-54-xx) [21 wks]
18 1078 Cornelia Jakobs - Hold Me Closer (63-40-24-19-18-21-23-22-33-20-13-5-4-5-8-13-16-23-27-45-xx) [20 wks]
19 1068 Nathan Dawe feat. Ella Henderson - 21 Reasons (35-18-20-13-9-5-6-11-12-7-8-7-10-16-17-22-32-52-xx) [18 wks]
20 1060 Kate Bush - Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God) (18-16-3-3-3-3-4-4-6-9-13-17-21-22-24-35-48-59-xx) [18 wks]

The resurgence of Kate Bush's 1985 classic "Running Up That Hill" was one of the handful of chart highlights last year, another of those being Steve Lacy's unexpected breakthrough - with "Bad Habit" becoming a huge hit courtesy of TikTok. Nicki Minaj's "Super Freaky Girl" rode a Rick James sample to three weeks at #4 on the Multichart, the same peak for Cornelia Jakobs' "Hold Me Closer" - funnily enough the same position it reached for Sweden in Eurovision 2022. There are also far more than 21 reasons why that Nathan Dawe song sounds like ass, hence why Buzzjack ate it up x

11 1197 David Guetta & Bebe Rexha - I'm Good (Blue) (9-3-3-2-1-1-1-2-2-3-3-5-7-11-14-12-16-...) [17 wks]
12 1190 LF SYSTEM - Afraid To Feel (27-10-5-1-1-2-1-2-2-2-4-4-6-16-19-20-28-46-58-xx) [19 wks]
13 1185 Beyoncé - BREAK MY SOUL (31-4-2-1-2-1-1-1-1-1-2-6-9-11-14-24-34-46-68-xx) [19 wks]
14 1177 Tate McRae - she's all i wanna be (28-15-8-8-5-6-7-8-11-12-13-14-17-26-27-30-35-22-38-55-60-50-xx) [22 wks]
15 1140 Elton John & Britney Spears - Hold Me Closer (59-5-2-2-1-2-2-2-3-4-5-8-7-9-20-27-28-42-...) [18 wks]

'Hold Me Closer' didn't quite get the 9 weeks at #1 that 'Cold Heart' had, but still a respectable result for two legends! Tate McRae's 'she's all i wanna be' was also well embraced by Buzzjack, surpassing the #10 peak of 'you broke me first'. Last summer 'Afraid To Feel' and 'BREAK MY SOUL' were actually trading places at #1 for a few weeks, only fitting that the end up together on the EOY too, with LF SYSTEM proving superior by just 5 points! And 'I'm Good (Blue)' is not quite good enough (or blue enough) for the top 10, although if just the first chart week of 2023 were included here, it would've made it gino.png

Stay tuned to find out which songs did make the top 10!

10 1216 Jax Jones feat. MNEK - Where Did You Go? (20-3-2-2-2-2-1-1-1-3-4-6-10-10-28-35-32-29-37-xx) [19 wks]

Jax Jones snuck his first Multichart topper since 'All Day and Night' in 2019 with the MNEK-featuring 'Where Did You Go?'. Although, its 3-week run at the top happened to be in a dry spell where around 620 points was only required to be #1. Unlike on the UK chart, it didn't endlessly avoid ACR, instead crashing straight out the top 75 from #37.

9 1218 Eliza Rose & Interplanetary Criminal - B.O.T.A. (Baddest Of Them All) (50-38-11-6-2-2-1-1-1-3-3-3-4-5-7-13-26-32-41-xx) [19 wks]

Eliza Rose & Interplanetary Criminal's "B.O.T.A." had barely finished its stint in BJSC courtesy of Kathaldazia before gaining traction on TikTok, and quickly shooting to #1 on the UK chart - Eliza being the first female DJ to reach that spot in over two decades. This playful summer house tune also spent 3 weeks atop our very own Multichart

8 1223 Tiësto & Ava Max - The Motto (...-16-8-6-6-6-8-7-5-6-13-13-13-15-14-16-21-21-23-34-46-xx) [20 wks]

Tiësto continued his commercial success at age 53 with 'The Motto', with Buzzfave Ava Max lending her vocals while she was in between album eras. Some listeners had to look up the alternative meaning of "gelato" after hearing it censored on the radio edit. kink.gif Buzzjack certainly approved of this collab and rewarded it with a top 5 Multichart peak.

7 1282 Lizzo - 2 Be Loved (Am I Ready) (64-31-33-55-26-24-19-9-7-5-5-5-5-4-5-4-6-9-12-23-24-35-56-...) [23 wks]

Max Martin and Ilya helped the fearless pop queen Lizzo pen this post-album single which might have missed the UK top 10, but on the Buzzjack Multichart it became a massive top 5 smash. The song was apparently likened to music by The Pointer Sisters and Hall & Oates.

6 1295 Rina Sawayama - This Hell (14-10-13-9-4-5-4-4-6-5-13-21-34-33-42-38-23-19-22-32-31-45-xx-69-60-61-68-72-xx) [27 wks]

Rina Sawayama kicked off her much-anticipated second album campaign with 'This Hell', a rowdy pop anthem which reached a Multichart peak of #4, one of her three Top 10 hits as lead artist (alongside Hold The Girl and Lucid) and achieving one of the lengthiest chart runs of the year at 27 weeks

5 1329 Sam Ryder - SPACE MAN (28-10-9-12-17-18-16-13-6-2-1-1-1-1-2-6-9-10-23-28-59-71-xx) [22 wks]

"I'm up in space MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN" *.* The UK finally put some effort in their Eurovision entry after many years of blandness, and not only were they rewarded with second place, but Sam Ryder found himself at #1 on the Multichart for four weeks and top 5 in the EOY! Josh Dubovie could never etc.

4 1350 David Guetta, Becky Hill & Ella Henderson - Crazy What Love Can Do (12-6-2-2-2-4-6-7-7-15-12-14-15-13-9-8-12-15-23-35-43-60-xx) [22 wks]

David Guetta's ghost producers teamed up with queens of mainstream dance vocals Becky Hill and Ella Henderson on this extremely innovative and interesting song. It was held off the top spot for 3 weeks by Harry Styles (who is still to come in this countdown). The lengthy chart run and rebound almost mirrored the one it had on the UK Chart. Or perhaps our members could not resist the "Da da da da da da dun dun dun da da da da" hook?

3 1432 Harry Styles - Late Night Talking (20-18-16-19-17-16-16-17-12-6-5-7-9-8-8-8-6-8-10-15-17-24-35-75-xx) [24 wks]

'Late Night Talking' debuted in the top 20 following the release of Harry's House, soon becoming the second proper single from the album and eventually reaching the top 5. Harry Styles' biggest hit of the year hasn't made an appearance as of yet, is it still to come...?? (no you don't get any prizes for guessing)

2 1483 Lizzo - About Damn Time (42-11-5-3-3-3-3-2-2-1-2-5-9-8-11-7-11-14-18-22-23-42-57-49-64-xx) [25 wks]

Those first couple weeks for 'About Damn Time' didn't look promising, until TikTok caught on and suddenly there was no stopping it! Now it's Lizzo's biggest hit of her career including here on the Multichart, where it snuck a week at #1 to become her first chart-topper.

And up next, it's about damn time for the #1 to be revealed!

winner.gif 1 1555 Harry Styles - As It Was (6-1-1-1-1-1-1-2-2-3-4-6-7-8-14-15-23-17-19-39-38-36-36-43-52-56-65-xx) [27 wks]

You guessed it. The EOY number one is none other than this inescapable, catchy synthpop tune by Harry Styles. While it spent 15 weeks at number one in the US and 10 weeks in the UK, it managed 6 weeks on our Multichart thanks to Joseph playing it on loop lol. Thank-you to everyone for following the countdown. See you all again next year heart.gif
