The rumour of the remix album turned out to be true. cheeseblock.png

I think Kylie and Moloko seem really possible but I’m SO intrigued as to who else might appear!

Omg yes, this is such a nice gift for my Bday week cheer.gif

AHHHHH. This is such exciting news, cannot wait to see the other artists who will appear. Physical ft. Gwen already sounds like a match made in heaven. Apparently the Jamiroquai logo is on the car in that picture as well, so should be other hunt.

I can't at Madonna posting this picture before Dua herself could actually do it.

Posted by: Juan Carlos 5th August 2020, 05:42 AM

The Blessed Madonna confirmed that she has pretty much handled most of the production of the remix album and "Levitating" is the first taste of a much bigger concept.

I was asleep and had my phone on silent but enough people started texting and calling me that it rattled off my bed stand and woke me up so I will just say what Dua has said. It’s true. I’ve been working very hard to do justice to this masterpiece that is the original and for Dua who I admire with every bone in my body. Club Future Nostalgia: The Remix Album is coming this month. Levitating with Missy Elliot and Madonna is the first delicious bite of a much bigger concept. It was a dream to create it with Dua and the unbelievable cast of heroes involved. There’s a hell of a lot more to say about this but I will zip my lips for now and get back to dreaming because my dreams keep coming true. ❤️#clubfuturenostalgia #dualipa #theblessedmadonna

Yep that's 100% the Jamiroquai logo - exciting!

The telephone box is also a Blondie thing!

Posted by: Frenchie 5th August 2020, 06:28 AM

Upon further inspection there appears to be another person on the left of the picture but I can't tell who it is. Im guessing there is a complete image will all the featured artists on.

Also intrigued what she means by 'all future nostalgia tracks and then sum' are being remixed. What else is there be remixed?

Posted by: LMLou 5th August 2020, 06:37 AM

This is so exciting, just like true entire era has been! Can’t wait to see what else comes from it
Has anyone got a clue on how this will chart? Will it be combined to FN, have its own placement on the album chart or maybe be on compilation I’m not quite sure?

Posted by: Bjork 5th August 2020, 07:35 AM

was wondering the same, sure it will count towards the album charts cos Dua is the main artist in all track, sure it's not a compilation

I think it will count as a separate new album, but not 100% sure
depends on how they release it, if it's out on its own or as 2nd disc added to FN

I hope this isn't true but some are saying that Bleona is on there too laugh.gif

If you never heard about Bleona, then let me shed some light...she is a delusional albanian star who proclaimed herself as albanian Madonna. She even said that her concert had attendees of 50k(?) in Tirana, which the truth of that concert is that it was organized for 100 years of Albania Independence and there were a lot of other people who performed, and it was free laugh.gif.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bleona

Apparently she had a UK #7 chart hit according to her wiki laugh.gif

I hope this is not true and I just can't see Dua really bringing her to this album along Madonna, Gwen, Missy etc. etc.

Posted by: Klumzee 5th August 2020, 02:26 PM

THE Bleona Lewis? *.*

This is quite exciting! I can't think of anything similar where a whole album (albums tracks included) are getting remixed, some very exciting names already included and plenty of hype about other potential collaborators. the hype is real!

I just was about to ask this! I’m guessing it will be like Gagas album The Remix and it’ll chart separately to the original album.

Excited yet intrigued at this! I’m not usually keen on remix albums but the guest artists on here have made me very interested and I think this’ll be one of the better remix albums to be released.

Looks quite fake to me, I thought the Blessed Madonna was the choice of producer for nearly all the tracks? Probably a few too many 'big' names on there and there'd be no need to rename Break My Heart considering it's already been a hit with its original title.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 5th August 2020, 05:52 PM

I'd happily take that tracklist - but I can't see it being real or not having a Good In Bed remix

The Moloko rumour would be amazing but didn't Roisin recently said Moloko weren't ever going to reunite? So would be a bit of a random move to pop up on a Dua remix all of a sudden.

If Ed is on it his track will almost definitely take away the focus of Levitating with Madonna and Missy.

It could be Roisin solo maybe if Moloko were an inspiration? I'm presuming that tracklist is fake anyhow, surely Ed Sheeran isn't going to show up when he's meant to be having an off year.

As much as I would die for a Kylie feature on Hallucinate, I doubt this is true.

People are suspecting Kylie as a feature because of the white horse on the cover and because Kylie's new single featured a white horse, but Kylie didn't invent that concept of a white horse, it's a famous disco event (idk how else to word it, but we all know of the white horse x studio 54 thing), so I'm guessing a very strong disco remix of something OR a prominent disco artist will feature.

I also can't see Zara being on 2 songs? Especially as she's not really.. big or current right now, sadly.

Also I'm bias cause Cool is top 3 from the album and I don't want that loser to ruin it. sad.gif

Described as a stellar collection of brand new remixes and features from an incredible roll call of superstars, underground heroes and some of the world's finest dance music talent and has been curated and also mixed into a continuous mixtape format by The Blessed Madonna. The result is an eclectic and euphoric mix of the past and present, it's a celebration of musical worlds coming together, with 90's house blending seamlessly with 2020's finest pop and remixers, a splash of 80's soul and a few noughties musical gems added to the blend.

Dua teased the following:
QUOTE
"The last few months have been surreal. I've watched you all dance in your homes and on your Zoom parties to Future Nostalgia like you were in the club with me. It brought so much joy to my days spent at home, even though I would've much rather been playing these songs live for you all on the road. During this time, I decided to take the party up a notch with the incomparable The Blessed Madonna, who secretly helped me to craft the mixtape that would become Club Future Nostalgia. We invited some friends and legends to join in on the fun with us. Absolute queens Missy Elliott and Madonna joined me for an epic remix of "Levitating," and my dream girl Gwen Stefani and the supreme Mark Ronson teamed up to take "Physical" to the next level. And the party doesn't stop there – there are so many more surprises to come!"

The Blessed Madonna added this:
QUOTE
"Taking Future Nostalgia and reimagining it as a mixtape album was an enormous project, which had to be done in absolute secrecy, alone in my attic. In a way building this fantasy out of this beautiful record Dua had already given us was the perfect task for the pandemic. It was a massive and infinitely detailed task. Creating remixes and originals, curating the dream team of additional remixers and weaving the features into a new album was both daunting and thrilling, to say the least. My admiration for Dua only deepened. She is brilliant, once in a generation artist and a sweetheart. Being able to make this love letter with such a legendary cast of characters is beyond comprehension. In the end my goal was to build a new world: Club Future Nostalgia, the dance floor we all so desperately need but can't quite reach. I love this project so much and I hope you love it too."

Posted by: Juan Carlos 9th August 2020, 10:10 PM

Another day, another fake tracklist. I think I've seen three so far. DeadBanana.gif

Anyway, re-reading the press release, I don't think all the songs are going to have features and I assume that there's a possibility that there could be samples in a couple of tracks instead. Also, some of the artists who are hinted through that promotional picture might appear because of the aforementioned and not necessarily because they recorded something. However, if someone told me that Dua Lipa was going to work with Gwen Stefani, Madonna and Missy Elliot in a remix album of her sophomore album some time ago, I would have laughed on them, so anything could happen at this point to be honest.

Posted by: Juan Carlos 11th August 2020, 04:14 AM

Dua revealed that the remix album has been pushed back a week because there are going to be animations for every song on the record during her interview to Gwen Stefani on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Posted by: LJ JORD 7 13th August 2020, 12:48 AM

It think it depends if it is combined with the original, which it still doing very well.

Posted by: LJ JORD 7 13th August 2020, 09:27 AM

I’m thinking it’s being treated as it’s own seperate album so it’ll chart separately.

I guess this won’t be confirmed until it’s actually out though.

Posted by: Dexton 13th August 2020, 03:35 PM

I love this idea but I feel it’s coming a bit too soon, no? Hallucinate needs a few more weeks to peak realistically and surely releasing this closer to Christmas and away from other big releases is a good idea. Or even having a remix single out October/November then the remix album out early next year

It was top 3 and is one of the best selling remix albums of all time! ohmy.gif

But even with that, I get your point that it hardly made a splash in the grand scheme of things and I'd be hard pressed to find even the biggest of Gaga fans that listen to the remix album regularly (if at all ever). I think we as fans of the original album will always prefer the original songs as opposed to remixes.

If this was an album where each song had additional verses tacked onto the songs (like Katy adding them to a few songs in the Teenage Dream era) I think more of us would be here for it, but as a remix album I can't see people loving it as much as the original.

I'll reserve judgement until it's out and I am still so excited for what is to come, but I think I (and others) were perhaps too prematurely excited for a complete new mini era when in fact it'll probably be an album of remixes we hear once and then return to the original. Hope to be proved wrong of course!

Love Is Religion & Physical are def the two I'm most hyped for, I'm so worried they've screwed the former up ahaha

Posted by: JulianNial 20th August 2020, 05:26 PM

Not what I was expecting at all, but I'll give it a listen. Sad there's no Normani.

Posted by: Lukuzz 20th August 2020, 05:27 PM

So there's actually 3 features most are samples hmm, let's see what it's like

Posted by: Juan Carlos 20th August 2020, 07:29 PM

This wasn't meant to be a collaborative project since the very beginning and I think many people jumped on that idea because of the inclusion of Madonna and Missy Elliot on "Levitating" and Gwen Stefani and Mark Ronson on "Physical", so I'm intrigued how everything will work out, including the samples.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 20th August 2020, 07:54 PM

I actually quite like that she's drafted in some top notch names in house music rather than filling it with big name popstar features, it makes it look more like a musical concept than a cash-in.

I'm a bit gutted that If It Ain't Me isn't on there. Didn't Dua say that it would be coming at some point? I wonder if there is a plan to released a deluxe edition towards Christmas?

the samples look very interesting indeed, Neneh Cherry-Buffalo Stance especially

Posted by: Scene 21st August 2020, 07:38 AM

I don't think the Normani collab (in its standard non-remixed form) would fit onto Club FN. I think there's a time and a place for that song to come and it isn't now. tongue.gif If this whole era is supposed to last two years then I can see a deluxe edition coming next year with more tracks. Maybe even the LIR non-remixed version will feature on it...

Posted by: Slick 21st August 2020, 09:41 AM

I'm a bit disappointed by this project so far. It is just a remix album; I was expecting more.

Posted by: LJ JORD 7 21st August 2020, 10:43 AM

I’m not surprised Normani isn’t on this album it would sound really out of place. It’d probably work better as a stand alone release if it does get an official release.

I am intrigued at this though. The remix of Levitating was underwhelming on first listen but now does sound better so I do think this could be one of the better remix albums to be released.

That's what I'm going to assume, I wouldn't be surprised if we get a Deluxe with a couple of new tracks plus the Levitating remix and if that's the case then only then will they get my money. tongue.gif

Another bad joke is that the title of the album reminds me of Dannii Minogue's Club Disco album. Especially the fact that a lot of the songs on Future Nostalgia are disco influenced anyway.

Posted by: LJ JORD 7 21st August 2020, 03:09 PM

I think the CD could come out a few weeks after the streaming / download release.

She’s the type of artist with quite a dedicated fanbase so a physical would sell enough. Then again she also dominates on streams too so that could be the labels priority but I do think it’ll have one at some point.

Posted by: Future Nostalgia 21st August 2020, 04:57 PM

Although the album is a continuous mix, the remixes are going to be released separately too.

It’ll have a sample of Herb Alpert cut into it

Posted by: Juan Carlos 24th August 2020, 08:24 PM

• Mixed version: 28/8
• Unmixed version: 4/9

I don't know why both of them couldn't be released at the same time, but I assume it's because the continuous mix will give a proper vision of the remix album, so it's better to listen to it without any skips. As a side note, TikTok is teasing something and, apparently, the visuals of the mixed version will be premiered there (like The Weeknd did a concert in this platform early this month).

Posted by: Juan Carlos 25th August 2020, 04:19 PM

Available to pre-save on Spotify and Deezer and pre-add on Apple Music.

Posted by: jsweetxe 27th August 2020, 09:14 AM

Kiss & Make-Up being tacked on the end seems like a desperate move for streams because BP are monsters for streaming but.. so is Dua so it doesn't make much sense. Unless she and her team feel that the song was not given proper attention due to it being released on the complete edition.

Kinda bummed that If It Ain't Me isn't included on the album but relieved because I don't want it to get a remix.

Posted by: jsweetxe 27th August 2020, 12:09 PM

Definitely not feeling a few of these tracks.

Physical is too slow for the tempo Dua is singing at, Gwen fits in perfectly and really works well but Dua's first chorus isn't adjusted to fit the slightly slower tempo of the song. Kiss & Make-Up also loses all of its spark and Blackpink are sort of lost in a monotonous production. I'll give it all a proper listen after work but 3/3 of the songs I've heard so far have been so underwhelming and muddy.

Posted by: MrAndrewMan 27th August 2020, 03:47 PM

Just listened to the Physical remix. Maybe my expectations were lowered slightly by the Levitating remix, but I really like it! wub.gif

Posted by: UltraFolklore 27th August 2020, 05:12 PM

The Love Is Religion remix isn't too bad tf. The original is obviously FAR superior but this is good enough ftm, just hoping we'll get the original with side-B whenever that's released!

Major disappointment :/ beyond bad mixes

Posted by: Slick 28th August 2020, 08:08 AM

I'm listening now. It makes much more sense as a cohesive album (listening from beginning to end). It sounds like one long DJ set. I don't think I'll go back to it often, but I finally realise what they're trying to do.

Posted by: Jade 28th August 2020, 08:44 AM

- ok but why doesn't the Break My Heart / Cosmic Girl mix slap? It literally builds up and then they fade out the chorus?? GAH

I echo the sentiment here, not sure if I'm going back to this album much~

Agreed- I did like it but I can’t imagine myself revisiting many of them

Posted by: blacksquare 28th August 2020, 10:36 AM

I'm sorry but this is such a slam dunk. She could have easily thrown together some designed-for-Spotify remix album with expected chart-friendly DJ's and artists (basic) — but she didn't, and instead dipped even further into the entire premise of Future Nostalgia. I don't think a lot of people realise just how perfectly they have captured the vibe of an early noughties late-night radio show, or a club compilation remix album from that era. The bootleg mashups, the callouts, the choice of collaborators. Ingenious. 'That Kind of Woman' sounding like a lost Kylie/Xenomania track from 2004? Yes.

Remember, this is in addition to an already great album that she is clearly not abandoning.

Posted by: J00psyMethyd 28th August 2020, 10:39 AM

Given the names involved and how this was marketed, I'm very underwhelmed.

I feel like they imagined The Blessed Madonna would be a bigger draw.

Posted by: dandy* 28th August 2020, 11:54 AM

Maybe I wasn't expecting as much as everyone else but I really quite like this. It's a remix album that I'd actually choose to listen to, it's a journey and an entire project instead of just being a load of disparate mixes chucked together for no artistic reason.

I can't really comment on the individual mixes because that misses the point, I'd only ever choose to listen to this as a whole in the same way as I'd listen to the Soulwax 2 Many DJs albums from the late 90s/early 2000s. It's essentially a concept album and I think she's smashed it. I'm majorly impressed that she's even attempted to produce something like this, it adds further to my view that she is a real artist and I think this is a really impressive body of work in an area that she's never really delved into before.

It's not really even comparable to the original album as the ambitions for both are very different - but it's amazing that she's managed to pull off two really cohesive projects this year, even if they are both obviously linked.

Posted by: vibe 28th August 2020, 12:44 PM

Tbf the best thing on it is the levitating remix

Posted by: Jade 28th August 2020, 01:05 PM

My favourites are the Joe Goddard and Yaeji remixes right now! Although like Dandy I'd rather just listen to the project in its entirety.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 28th August 2020, 02:48 PM

This is absolutely brilliant! If anything I probably prefer it to the original album

Posted by: lewistgreen 28th August 2020, 03:01 PM

This is truly a DJ compilation for the dance stans and I love it. It’s definitely one that needs to be played as a mix rather than individual tracks

Posted by: Ansel 28th August 2020, 05:37 PM

I wasn't expecting to like this much because the Levitating remix was a bit disappointing but it's great! Really love the club atmosphere and all the stuff that goes on between tracks. My favourites were the Joe Goddard and Zach Witness remixes, I'm a big Yaeji fan but that one didn't quite click for me yet. The only thing that really didn't work for me was Break My Heart mixed with Cosmic Girl, the title track would've been a far better match for Jamiroquai.

Posted by: lewistgreen 28th August 2020, 05:43 PM

When the middle bit kicked in of Cool I was hooked! Don’t Start Now May have to take a few listens but I like what Yaeji has done. Echoing a few others’ comments about Love Is Religion being fab too.

The only damp-ish squib for me is Good in Bed

Posted by: Jade 28th August 2020, 06:51 PM

‘Love Is Religion’ now also emerging as a favourite heart.gif

Posted by: Andrew. 29th August 2020, 08:57 AM

I’ve just skipped to ‘Love Is Religion’ because I heard a snippet of it and it is GORGEOUS, exactly the sound I’d imagined when she announced this club project wub.gif

I’ve listened to about half the tracks but I can already tell this is way more enjoyable as a full piece (Levitating remix still meh though) so at least I can appreciate this project even if I won’t necessarily return to most of the song individually.

I love the 'Love Again' remix, and also the Break My Heart/Cosmic Girl one is interesting (with some of the uses of vocals from both tracks).

Posted by: LJ JORD 7 29th August 2020, 03:37 PM

This isn’t terrible but it isn’t really for me I don’t think. It’s pretty much just I prefer the original versions of most tracks. Love Is Religions mix was probably the stand out for me but I think that could be because I’m less familiar with that than anything else on this so it just sounded the best. It did flow well but yeah tbh even remix albums like Gagas I very rarely go back too so I wasn’t expecting to be wowed or anything. It’s a good effort for her to do something different though.

Posted by: MrAndrewMan 29th August 2020, 09:00 PM

There's a few tracks on here that I like, I absolutely love the "Love is Religion" and "Physical" remixes. I quite like the Levitating one as well but it's not as good.

Parts of it just sound really messy to me though. The "Good in Bed" remix in particular. unsure.gif

Posted by: Liаm 29th August 2020, 11:43 PM

I wouldn't say this is for me really, but people definitely need to learn the difference between it being bad and it not being what they wanted. It's mixed excellently, flows so well and I think it would be great in a club all night if I was drunk. It works better as a whole more than when I listened to tracks on their own earlier, but I don't think it's the sort of thing I'd regularly go back to for the whole thing if that makes sense? laugh.gif

I do love the Love Again remix, Love Is Religion is great too as is Physical with Gwen Stefani. I love that it keeps the 80s sound but in a totally different way to the original!

That (barely) remix is so jarring amongst the rest of it, and it makes the song sound even more annoying than usual.

Posted by: Addy!(By Demand) 30th August 2020, 02:18 AM

Listening from beginning to the end is like a requirement if you want to enjoy this as a whole project!!!

Personally I really did enjoyed it on a first listen and I thought it flowed and ended pretty fast...I guess I expected it was going to be one of those long remix albums but I am glad it's shorter and easy to digest!!!

Posted by: Atonement 30th August 2020, 10:01 AM

The first few songs I listened to on shuffle and that was a mistake!

Not every mix is as good as the other and I think some mixes should definitely be longer (the Paul Woolford Remix [Extended??????]) of 'Hallucinate' is so divine but way too short, and other mixes could've been left off, but it's definitely a decent remix album with room to grow.

It must be charting as a compilation I don’t think they’d combine it with the original as this is under Dua Lipa & The Blessed Madonna on iTunes and on streaming sites.

Dua Lipa has enough fans to take any album until the Top 100 , an explanation will come.

Posted by: Bjork 3rd September 2020, 01:44 PM

the album was #10 on Itunes on Friday and it's still top 40
there are many albums that have charted this year without physicals, only with iTunes and little streaming (Laura Marling, Fiona Apple)
so if it's not charting, must be a technicality, not that she's a flop

An unmixed version with extended remixes and a re-ordered tracklisting (and without the sample cuts/voiceovers etc I would assume)

1. Levitating (The Blessed Madonna Remix) [feat. Madonna & Missy Elliott]
2. Hallucinate (Paul Woolford Remix)
3. Don't Start Now (Kaytranada Remix)
4. Physical (Mark Ronson Remix) [feat. Gwen Stefani]
5. Love Is Religion (The Blessed Madonna Remix)
6. Break My Heart (Moodymann Remix)
7. That Kind Of Woman (Jacques Lu Cont Remix)
8. Pretty Please (Masters At Work Remix)
9. Boys Will Be Boys (Zach Witness Remix)
10. Good In Bed (Gen.Hoshino Remix)
11. Future Nostalgia (Joe Goddard Remix)
12. Love Again (Horse Meat Disco Remix)
13. Cool (Jayda G Remix)
14. Don't Start Now (Yaeji Remix)
15. Hallucinate (Mr Fingers deep stripped mix)
16. Pretty Please (Midland Refix)
17. Good In Bed (Zach Witness Remix)

I wish somebody somewhere could clarify exactly what's going on with the situation in terms of the UK, I was hoping Music Week might have touched upon it in their report.

Posted by: Bjork 8th September 2020, 11:03 AM

I think the label didn't registered it (on purpose) with the OCC or asked the OCC for it to be excluded
otherwise it would have charted on the basis of the iTunes sales alone (was #10 at the start of the week on iTunes), at least on the download chart

but I think this new version will chart now as it's credited to Dua Lipa alone, it's up for pre-order etc

Posted by: Bré 8th September 2020, 05:08 PM

Having to wait another week then... drama.gif but at least we do actually have a confirmation that it is coming out (and a new remix being included somewhat makes up for the delay I guess? interested to hear this KAYTRANADA remix).

I did end up listening to the mixed version and annoyingly one of the best sounding remixes (the Midland remix of 'Pretty Please') was edited to be barely 90 seconds long laugh.gif so definitely need the full version of that. 'Love Is Religion' was my other highlight and the remix of 'Levitating' has grown on me quite a bit (I still don't really care much for the Missy Elliott verse though). Also liked the Joe Goddard, Jayda G (a version of 'Cool' I can almost get behind yay), Dimitri From Paris and Yaeji contributions ~

I thought it was a great album/project! I'm yet to listen to the unmixed version but I will do this week, weird it's not on Spotify as a complete album, but instead as 17 separate singles.

Posted by: jszmiles 13th September 2020, 11:05 PM

where can I pre-order physical version of CFN?

Posted by: Juan Carlos 14th September 2020, 03:01 AM

It's been said that the remix album will be released alongside the original album in a double CD, but there's not a release date yet. The remix album will be the mixed version and not the unmixed version if it's considered the back cover, which you could see https://i.imgur.com/Va23sbW.png. It's too big to be embed though. However, I also hope there are plans that the unmixed version will be physically too.

Anyway, I still find odd that the unmixed version of the album was uploaded as standalone releases on Spotify, Deezer and Tidal, while it was available in an album (with a different order in the tracklisting) on Apple Music and Amazon Music. Either way, because of the aforementioned, I put all of them in a playlist on Spotify. It's based off the mixed version, including the KAYTRANADA remix of "Don't Start Now" after the Yaeji remix of the same song.

The vinyl is more like a box set of the era tbh! Totally out of my budget at the moment. If I can't get a Studio2054 ticket then I might reconsider though!

Idolator knows what they're talking about! cheer.gif Hopefully If It Ain't Me is snubbed from the Moonlight Edition at the last minute and Love Is Religion gets included instead wub.gif The amount of potential it has is just too much!

Is there any truth in a second one of these coming? I'm sure I read somewhere the other day it was rumoured

Yeh I read it too and they reckon she has Gaga and Ariana on a track. I won't hold my breath.
