This is the directing debut of actress Greta Gerwig and it is getting really good reviews at the moment so it could be one to watch out for at awards season this year (even though it looks a bit more Edge of Seventeen to me to be honest).

I laughed out loud at the trailer about four times and it looks really heart-warming too so I'm very hyped for this cheer.gif

This has become the most reviewed film to stay at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, with 165 reviews!!

'Toy Story 2' (!!!) was the previous leader (163 reviews)! ohmy.gif

I'm so excited to see what the fuss is about!

i really want to see this too after noticing all the hype.

Saoirse is one of the best actors of this generation, no doubt. Recently watched a bunch of her interviews on youtube (how boring can it be to answer the same question and joke about her name EACH FUCKING TIME?! yes we get it, it's Irish :/ ) and she's utterly hilarious! I also have never heard her real accent before now for some reason and I cannot get enough. *.*

This was really good and I really enjoyed it but I don't think it was anything outstanding - it was on the same levels of The Edge Of Seventeen for me. A really good film but nothing that made me go 'wow'.

Same Jack. I liked it, but didn't really love it or I don't think I'd watch it again out of choice at least. I found Edge of Seventeen more likeable and enjoyable.

I have a feeling I'd probably have liked it a lot more if I could relate to it more. But yeah, it's really not a bad film, it's just a generic coming of age story with good performances tbh

Saoirse Ronan killed it here, I think it could be her best role yet for me. The mother and daughter relationship felt very real and the film as a whole was very relatable. It was nice to see more of Lucas Hedges and Timothée Chalamet too - I can't wait to see what they both do next, two very exciting young stars!!

(I'd rather Shape of Water or Three Billboards win Best Picture though to be honest)

I would love to love Lady Bird, but it's a weak film to be honest and I don't understand all the hype about it. It doesn't bring me anything new, or unexpected. I, Tonya should have been nominated as best picture instead of this imo.

I agree, Jason. I just came back from seeing this tonight and found myself getting completely bored towards the end - it didn't feel like the writers knew where it was going and I completely lost interest.

I actually thought the stand out performance came from Laurie Metcalf, who plays the Mum, and I'm so glad she's up for Best Supporting Actress (even though I think Alison Janney will probably get it).
