The Weeknd battles Lewis Capaldi and Roddy Ricch for the #1 single, potentially his first in the UK. From the new releases, Dua Lipa's Physical should make a big splash, plus tracks from KSI & Trippie Redd with Wake Up Call, Gorillaz/slowthai/Slaves with Momentary Bliss and Taylor Swift with Only The Young

Open race for the #1 album, with Eminem and Lewis Capaldi in contention plus new releases from Blossoms with third album Foolish Loving Spaces and Louis Tomlinson's debut Walls. Other new albums include Meghan Trainor's Treat Myself, Kesha's High Road, Lil Wayne's Funeral, Marc Almond's Chaos and a Dancing Star and Liam Gallagher's Acoustic Sessions

Joel Corry and Becky Hill both for Top 40 this week PLEASE

Posted by: SLlewellyn 2nd February 2020, 06:00 PM

Who’s going to flop the most out of Louis Tomlinson, Kesha and Meghan Trainor then?

Blossoms for the #1 album!

Posted by: dan.G 2nd February 2020, 06:04 PM

not bad for own it to still be top 20 on acr. and at least it didn’t fall from number one.

Posted by: LMLou 2nd February 2020, 06:06 PM

Hope bad guy can re-enter the top 20 come Friday, doubt it though as it's falling pretty fast

U got 2 Pump It Up w00t.gif

Posted by: Jason 2nd February 2020, 06:23 PM

Posted by: Everton 2nd February 2020, 06:23 PM

11 new Dua lipa physical (1 week)

Posted by: LMLou 2nd February 2020, 06:26 PM

Awww I hoped Physical would be a little higher than #11. If it climbs on streaming throughout the week like DSN did it could still make top 10 maybe

at this rate it will be top 40 all year.

Orbital's The Box came up on one of my Spotify Daily Mixes a few days ago. It's incalculably better than this dreadful rubbish.

I wish they did a sunday album chart!

Posted by: LMLou 2nd February 2020, 06:54 PM

Surprised BYG is still has high as #2, the only reason it climbed so high last week was the CD sales - and the video effect should be a lot smaller this week. Can see it falling a little more throughout the week

The OCC (or their paymasters) don’t seem to care about chart runs. They are happy to have the chart as a snapshot of what is popular in a given week under rules that few people outside the music industry understand.

It's funny that US chart watchers loathe the UK charts and vice versa biggrin.gif

I prefer Hot 100 myself tbh, it's just a mess in the UK when the most consumed track is not #1 on consumption based chart. It should be popularity based chart then, because it's just not right. At least Hot 100 is pretty clear: the most popular track in points is always #1.

There’s certain things I like and dislike about both charts.

Like for instance the three track rule is a god send for our UK chart now!

7 NEW Jessie Buckley - Wild Rose soundtrack (no clue what this is??)
8 Taylor
9 NEW Louis Tomlinson

The soundtrack to a film which was nominated at the BAFTA's last night.

I was surprised Wild Rose soundtrack didn’t do better at the time of its release. It’s genuinely a really good film and the music used in it is also really good. If you liked A Star Is Born id definitely check it out.

Posted by: SevenSeize 3rd February 2020, 01:40 PM

i'd expect Louis to make the top 5 quite easily given his fanbase, could see Meghan reaching the top 20 even with low sales

Blinding Lights at #1 ohmy.gif inb4 the OCC make a few 'data tweaks', a song this good cant be #1 in 2020...ph34r.gif

Posted by: ___∆___ 3rd February 2020, 03:10 PM

I think Louis is being underestimated?! He’s got daily signings (some multiple per day) including one at a football stadium to accommodate volume, he’s also has signing next week but the sales from which count towards week 1. He has album launch shows, daily promo plus Amazon signed CD, 5 cassette and signed Polaroid photo bundle, vinyl, etc.,

How does that work? Very clever marketing technique, whoever came up with that for him!

Posted by: Cqmerqn 3rd February 2020, 03:39 PM

I guess in order to go to the signing you have to buy the album? Perhaps they’re taking bookings in advance, idk.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 3rd February 2020, 03:44 PM

Yeah that's it I think - I've seen quite a few artists do it lately.

Posted by: Wall 3rd February 2020, 04:41 PM

Yeh maybe Louis could potentially be #1 especially when he’s doing album signings daily! I think he will be a couple of thousand ahead in the first update at least!

Posted by: sammy01 3rd February 2020, 04:44 PM

He/his label are certainly doing everything they can to achieve a high first week placing. Fair play to them I saw him on BBC breakfast this morning, you gotta admire the effort and detail with everything.

Posted by: Bjork 3rd February 2020, 04:52 PM

I also think he could be #1 which is surprising considering the long list of flops that have preceded the album + he hasn't shown a cohesive career jumping from silly pop songs with Bebe Rexha to Oasis carbon copies but with a big label behind and some loyal exz-1D girl fans sure he could at least be top 5 unlike Liam Payne

Posted by: Bré 3rd February 2020, 05:18 PM

Blossoms are 8k ahead at #1 today, Louis at #2, Liam Gallagher only #12.

I'd never have expected Louis to be #1, if he can hang onto the top 5 that's a great result for him imo. Hard to tell if Blossoms are likely to hang on without knowing the numbers other than the gap between 1 and 2 - impressive if they can bounce back to get another #1 after their second album only got to #4 though.

Best new this week is Squarepusher currently at #24, hope he can hang on to get a first top 40 album!

Posted by: Bjork 3rd February 2020, 05:20 PM

was expecting Liam's live album to be much higher

Posted by: Bré 3rd February 2020, 05:21 PM

Pretty sure Liam doesn't have a physical release yet? That's where most of his sales would normally come from. The report points out that it's #1 on the download chart for the week so far.

Yes Blossoms! IIRC their second album was released on a busy week.

Blossoms do also have signings coming up this week

Yep, it was also a surprise release so wouldn't have pre-orders.

Great debut opening figures for Louis. It would be much better had Spotify showing him support this era but at least he’s almost guaranteed a top three debut unless he falls rapidly.

Wow, that's awful for Meghan and Kesha sad.gif

I’m surprise Meghan could possibly miss the top 30. I thought she would have scraped top 20 with The Voice but at the same time, I’m not too surprised as none of the singles from Treat Myself have even bothered Streaming or iTunes. Nice To Meet You is doing okay and could potentially help the album if Spotify and radio jump on board but I think she’s over. Kesha will probably miss the top 30.

Posted by: dan.G 3rd February 2020, 05:31 PM

I'm no Blossoms fan but I'd definitely take them over Louis Tomlinson.

Good to see Dua holding up reasonably well from yesterday's update, only down a place. Plus Joel Corry and Becky Hill looking likely to enter the top 40 this week. The Doja Cat song is quite good too, haven't heard KSI's yet but I wasn't too keen on 'Down Like That'.

That's a very healthy lead for The Weeknd anyhow so he should be safe for #1 this week, yay. Roddy only a handful of sales ahead of Lewis at the moment but should hopefully keep #2 with his better streaming.

A very nice climb for Saint Jhn too!

Quite surprised they're so low. I wasn't expecting fantastic sales but neither have cleared 2k yet. I would have thought Meghan's exposure from The Voice would have helped her out and I thought Kesha still had enough of a fanbase to do better.

Posted by: Bjork 3rd February 2020, 05:32 PM

wow pretty good sales for Blossoms

just checked and their debut opened with 20K at #1 in Aug 2016, in a week with zero competition
their 2nd album peaked at #4 but sold similarly, 17K in week 1 in Apr 2018, highly competitive week cos
Post Malone and Anne Marie were also released on the same week and TGS was still ruling the charts

but it's great to see they're gonna have their best 1st week sales

Posted by: LMLou 3rd February 2020, 05:32 PM

Pretty disappointing for Meghan and Kesha but I can't say I'm at all surprised. Kesha is a little more disappointing though cause I don't think any of expected Meghan's album to do much at all for the past few years but after Rainbow it seems like Kesha could've revived her chart success

Posted by: dan.G 3rd February 2020, 05:32 PM

Based on how Kesha is selling she'll be lucky to even go top 40 I think. Meghan should make it though.

Just looked it up and they debuted behind Post Malone at #1 and *shudders* Anne-Marie at #3 (The Greatest Showman hanging on at #2) - but it looks like the new album will easily surpass the opening sales as well though so it's not just that this is a less busy week ('Cool Like You' did 19.1k first week, this new album is only a couple hundred off that already). Should also beat the opening sales of their debut album (21.0k)! Blossoms joining Courteeners in being an indie group managing to keep enough of a fanbase to weather the downward trend in album sales I guess ~

Think they should definitely be able to hang on at #1 as they're already above the total that Lewis managed last week.

Posted by: LMLou 3rd February 2020, 05:34 PM

Shame Physical has fallen a spot already, it could still make top 10 this week but I'd imagine it'll get there eventually anyway, but Don't Start Now having such strong sales this far into its run Is impressive.
My Oh My climbing as well! Hopefully it can avoid ACR

Buzz single or not I definitely think Demi’s team expected the track to do better.

It had a GRAMMYs slot and it’s new music too! I expected top 40 at least.

I guess the real test will be how her next single does.

There’s nothing on there what stood out tbh and it’s like she’s regressed since her last album what was a real moment for her.

Come on Dua, would really love this to squeeze in at #10 for its first week at least, though I doubt this week will be its peak week anyway.

Can Do a Lipa get that top 10 debut this week do we reckon?

There's just 145 between Harry and Dua, but also just 115 between Dua and KSI, so hard to say!

Posted by: Bré 5th February 2020, 03:09 PM

Glad to see Dua re-overtaking KSI but I kind of expect him to push really hard for downloads today/tomorrow to get a top 10 like he did with 'Down Like That'.

Aw at Squarepusher being out of the top 40 already D: though it should still give him his highest chart position to date (he's had 3 previous top 100 albums but none charted higher than #89).

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 5th February 2020, 03:10 PM

Blossoms locked on for #1!

Next week will be interesting - I would have Green Day as a #1 contender, but this album is looking to be very different to their previous releases and it's very short as well. Though will low sales from others they could still do it.

yeah really a shame. It would be nice to see such artist inside top 40.

Posted by: gavindeejay 5th February 2020, 03:14 PM

I think Greenday will swim to Number 1 no trouble unless there's a bigger contender out there?

Posted by: Hadji 5th February 2020, 03:15 PM

Hopefully, Becky Hill makes it into the top 40 and that Ladbroke Grove will be back out of the top 40 by Friday

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 5th February 2020, 03:16 PM

Thinking about it actually - Green Day will have loads of sales from the Hella Mega stadium tour tickets (for presale you had to buy one of Green Day, Fall Out Boy or Weezer's new albums) - so there should be lots of sales from that.

Posted by: Bré 5th February 2020, 03:19 PM

Green Day look like they should probably be the highest new entry next week, just a matter of if they still have enough of a fanbase to beat whatever Lewis will be selling. Their last album in 2016 did 30k first week so they probably have a decent chance. Lol if they get a #1 album with what's heavily rumoured to be a low effort troll album to get out of their contract though ~

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 5th February 2020, 03:19 PM

Troll effort or not, I've been really surprised by how much I like the singles laugh.gif

How’s Fine Line doing this week??

Posted by: Wall 5th February 2020, 03:21 PM

Meghan potentially missing the top 40 then and Kesha most certainly missing the top 40.

Non-mover currently

Posted by: Wall 5th February 2020, 03:22 PM

Blossoms sold 900 copies yesterday
Louis sold 1,000 copies
Lewis sold 2,100 copies
Eminem 2,000 copies
J Hus 2,400 copies

If sales stay the same, Louis is guaranteed #4 but still has a good chance of finishing at #3.

Lovely...thank you!

Great to see Becky climb 3 spots since yesterday, top 40 looking more likely. Also glad Halsey seems set to go top 20 this week

Top 3 would be great for Louis, but i feel he will close the week at number 4.

who knows, maybe they add some last minute cassette sales from his website like they did with Selena
and hew ends up at #1 biggrin.gif
we've had a few surprises recently

Posted by: Hadji 5th February 2020, 09:22 PM

Funny seeing Jonas Brothers and Joel Corry switch places from yesterday. Hope both songs make it into the top 30 and that Regard gets pushed out. I also hope that Dermot (POM) can sneak into the top 40

Posted by: ukchartstatsfan 5th February 2020, 10:49 PM

Pleased that The Weeknd looks secure for his first UK #1.

Posted by: ukchartstatsfan 5th February 2020, 11:06 PM

Shift K3Y that's a name I didn't expect to see back in the charts from 'Touch' fame.

Posted by: Steve201 5th February 2020, 11:15 PM

Hope Godzilla sneaks into no4 again.

And yes great to see Halsey into the top 20 with her new single!

Are the pet shop boys still number 11?

Posted by: GTH 6th February 2020, 12:56 PM

Come on Becky!! Really want her to get that top 40 as lead artist.

Does JLo's Greatest Hits album have a chance to re enter the top albums following the Superbowl?

There's a chance it might appear in the top 100 I guess, probably not much higher than that.
