The Weeknd battles Lewis Capaldi and Roddy Ricch for the #1 single, potentially his first in the UK. From the new releases, Dua Lipa's Physical should make a big splash, plus tracks from KSI & Trippie Redd with Wake Up Call, Gorillaz/slowthai/Slaves with Momentary Bliss and Taylor Swift with Only The Young
Open race for the #1 album, with Eminem and Lewis Capaldi in contention plus new releases from Blossoms with third album Foolish Loving Spaces and Louis Tomlinson's debut Walls. Other new albums include Meghan Trainor's Treat Myself, Kesha's High Road, Lil Wayne's Funeral, Marc Almond's Chaos and a Dancing Star and Liam Gallagher's Acoustic Sessions

Joel Corry and Becky Hill both for Top 40 this week PLEASE
Who’s going to flop the most out of Louis Tomlinson, Kesha and Meghan Trainor then?
Blossoms for the #1 album!
not bad for own it to still be top 20 on acr. and at least it didn’t fall from number one.
Hope bad guy can re-enter the top 20 come Friday, doubt it though as it's falling pretty fast
U got 2 Pump It Up
Physical just missed out
11 new Dua lipa physical (1 week)
Awww I hoped Physical would be a little higher than #11. If it climbs on streaming throughout the week like DSN did it could still make top 10 maybe
I think Liam Gallagher will have a great shot at the #1 album - though I hope it will be Blossoms
NO Stormzy then
dear lawd do we really need SYL climbing three places in the top ten in Feb 2020?
at this rate it will be top 40 all year.
Bye The Box
That's 2 non movers, so that means yes
Orbital's The Box came up on one of my Spotify Daily Mixes a few days ago. It's incalculably better than this dreadful rubbish.
Unless some superstar dies this week, it's going to be The Weeknd week.
01 (02) The Weeknd – Blinding Lights
02 (01) Lewis Capaldi – Before You Go
03 (03) Roddy Ricch – The Box
04 (05) Dua Lipa – Don’t Start Now
05 (04) Eminem feat. Juice WRLD – Godzilla
06 (09) Lewis Capaldi – Someone You Loved
07 (08) Billie Eilish – everything i wanted
08 (10) Arizona Zervas – ROXANNE
09 (07) Future feat. Drake – Life Is Good
10 (12) Tones & I – Dance Monkey
11 (**) Dua Lipa – Physical
12 (14) Harry Styles – Adore You
13 (16) Maroon 5 – Memories
14 (13) Justin Bieber – Yummy
15 (15) Lewis Capaldi – Bruises
16 (**) KSI feat. Trippie Redd – Wake Up Call
17 (18) Endor – Pump It Up
18 (22) Billie Eilish – bad guy
19 (11) J Hus feat. Burna Boy – Play Play
20 (05) Stormzy feat. Ed Sheeran & Burna Boy – Own It
I'd rather have Someone You Love in the chart for a year than this (The Box)
I wish they did a sunday album chart!
Surprised BYG is still has high as #2, the only reason it climbed so high last week was the CD sales - and the video effect should be a lot smaller this week. Can see it falling a little more throughout the week
At last, best #1 of the year so far
I be back
hopefully the weeknd can stay at number one and roddy ricch can overtake lewis capaldi
Roddy needs at least one week at the top
I'd be happy for The Weeknd to remain number one for a few weeks. His best track. And the best track of 2020 to date.
I totally thought Do a Lipa was certain of a top 5 debut officially, although I have full confidence it will peak there anyway.
Really thought Dua Lipa was gonna start higher
The song is great and I imagined Dont start now had
taken her to the next level
I can't say I was aware there was a sample in the song and it's one of my favourite songs of the year lel
OMG was expecting Dua to be much higher... it’s a fantastic song
I find this business of songs 'randomly' appearing & disappearing from the charts just due to the 'three songs' rule, very disconcerting - not to mention hard for my spreadsheets to track.
Good thing it's not the US here then
It's funny that US chart watchers loathe the UK charts and vice versa
I prefer Hot 100 myself tbh, it's just a mess in the UK when the most consumed track is not #1 on consumption based chart. It should be popularity based chart then, because it's just not right. At least Hot 100 is pretty clear: the most popular track in points is always #1.
There’s certain things I like and dislike about both charts.
Like for instance the three track rule is a god send for our UK chart now!
I really hope Meghan doesn't flop TOO hard. It might be her best album!
Louis to flip epically though pls x
well Louis' album was #1 on iTunes on Fri
even right now looking at iTunes albums and excluding compilations it's:
1 NEW Liam Gallagher
2&3 Lewis
4 Eminem
5 NEW Blossoms
6 Billie Eilish
7 NEW Jessie Buckley - Wild Rose soundtrack (no clue what this is??)
8 Taylor
9 NEW Louis Tomlinson
10 NEW Meghan Trainor
Quite how that's related to Brexit I'm not sure.
I was surprised Wild Rose soundtrack didn’t do better at the time of its release. It’s genuinely a really good film and the music used in it is also really good. If you liked A Star Is Born id definitely check it out.
i'd expect Louis to make the top 5 quite easily given his fanbase, could see Meghan reaching the top 20 even with low sales
Blinding Lights at #1 inb4 the OCC make a few 'data tweaks', a song this good cant be #1 in 2020...
I think Louis is being underestimated?! He’s got daily signings (some multiple per day) including one at a football stadium to accommodate volume, he’s also has signing next week but the sales from which count towards week 1. He has album launch shows, daily promo plus Amazon signed CD, 5 cassette and signed Polaroid photo bundle, vinyl, etc.,
I guess in order to go to the signing you have to buy the album? Perhaps they’re taking bookings in advance, idk.
Yeah that's it I think - I've seen quite a few artists do it lately.
Yeh maybe Louis could potentially be #1 especially when he’s doing album signings daily! I think he will be a couple of thousand ahead in the first update at least!
He/his label are certainly doing everything they can to achieve a high first week placing. Fair play to them I saw him on BBC breakfast this morning, you gotta admire the effort and detail with everything.
I also think he could be #1 which is surprising considering the long list of flops that have preceded the album + he hasn't shown a cohesive career jumping from silly pop songs with Bebe Rexha to Oasis carbon copies but with a big label behind and some loyal exz-1D girl fans sure he could at least be top 5 unlike Liam Payne
Blossoms are 8k ahead at #1 today, Louis at #2, Liam Gallagher only #12.
I'd never have expected Louis to be #1, if he can hang onto the top 5 that's a great result for him imo. Hard to tell if Blossoms are likely to hang on without knowing the numbers other than the gap between 1 and 2 - impressive if they can bounce back to get another #1 after their second album only got to #4 though.
Best new this week is Squarepusher currently at #24, hope he can hang on to get a first top 40 album!
was expecting Liam's live album to be much higher
Pretty sure Liam doesn't have a physical release yet? That's where most of his sales would normally come from. The report points out that it's #1 on the download chart for the week so far.

Yes Blossoms! IIRC their second album was released on a busy week.
Blossoms do also have signings coming up this week
Wow, that's awful for Meghan and Kesha
It's going to be Foals vs James Arthur all over again
Great debut opening figures for Louis. It would be much better had Spotify showing him support this era but at least he’s almost guaranteed a top three debut unless he falls rapidly.
I'm no Blossoms fan but I'd definitely take them over Louis Tomlinson.
Good to see Dua holding up reasonably well from yesterday's update, only down a place. Plus Joel Corry and Becky Hill looking likely to enter the top 40 this week. The Doja Cat song is quite good too, haven't heard KSI's yet but I wasn't too keen on 'Down Like That'.
That's a very healthy lead for The Weeknd anyhow so he should be safe for #1 this week, yay. Roddy only a handful of sales ahead of Lewis at the moment but should hopefully keep #2 with his better streaming.
A very nice climb for Saint Jhn too!
wow pretty good sales for Blossoms
just checked and their debut opened with 20K at #1 in Aug 2016, in a week with zero competition
their 2nd album peaked at #4 but sold similarly, 17K in week 1 in Apr 2018, highly competitive week cos
Post Malone and Anne Marie were also released on the same week and TGS was still ruling the charts
but it's great to see they're gonna have their best 1st week sales
Pretty disappointing for Meghan and Kesha but I can't say I'm at all surprised. Kesha is a little more disappointing though cause I don't think any of expected Meghan's album to do much at all for the past few years but after Rainbow it seems like Kesha could've revived her chart success
Based on how Kesha is selling she'll be lucky to even go top 40 I think. Meghan should make it though.
Shame Physical has fallen a spot already, it could still make top 10 this week but I'd imagine it'll get there eventually anyway, but Don't Start Now having such strong sales this far into its run Is impressive.
My Oh My climbing as well! Hopefully it can avoid ACR
Don't Start Now, Someone You Loved, Everything I Wanted & Dance Monkey all still polluting the top 10, drop me out.
2 Louis Tomlinson - Walls (11.2k)
OMG!!! Strong numbers with poor streaming numbers
I hope Camila can overtake Billie and DSN outselling Physical
YEAH at Squarepusher beats act like Kesha and selling as much as Megan.
Singles Bonus (noteworthy climbers/entries):
41 Dermot Kennedy - Power Over Me
48 Taylor Swift - Only The Young *
49 Gorillaz feat. Slowthai & Slaves - Momentary Bliss *
57 Justin Bieber feat. Kehlani - Get Me *
58 Mustard feat. Roddy Ricch - Ballin'
63 Liam Gallagher - Once ^
70 Meghan Trainor feat. Nicki Minaj - Nice To Meet Ya *
78 Celeste - Stop This Flame
79 CamelPhat feat. Jem Cooke - Rabbit Hole
85 Harry Styles - Falling ^
92 Headie One & Fred Again - Charades *
94 Demi Lovato - Anyone *
98 Blossoms - If You Think This Is Real Life *
SYL still polluting the top 10 and I hope it doesn’t get performed at the BRITs otherwise it would be more torture
I hope the Weeknd can hold on, it could get tighter later in the week.
I hope the Weeknd gets it this week and that Roddy gets it next week
hooray at Bet Watt at 49. Hope he'll stay inside top 100 by Friday
Dermot Kennedy at #41 and Vossi Bop on the verge of dropping out. Hope that Dermot enters on Friday and that VB gets pushed out
Blinding Lights seems like sure #1 this week, huge lead
hope Power Over Me makes it
Gorillaz not far from t40 either
I know Demi wasn't looking for a hit with this song but I still feel it's really underperformed, especially after Selena had such a huge hit with a ballad a couple months ago
Buzz single or not I definitely think Demi’s team expected the track to do better.
It had a GRAMMYs slot and it’s new music too! I expected top 40 at least.
I guess the real test will be how her next single does.
Tbf, Louis Tomlinson is the best of the bunch - and releasing an album dedicated to the Ler Ha Wallaces of the world is an ace step in my book!!
Lil Wayne's album only #45
Lovely to see Neneh Cherry back in the top 40 - I've really got into her stuff in recent weeks following the reruns on BBC Four of TOTP from 1989. Still sounds fresh today!
Wow at Louis, surpassing everyone's expectations! Excellent to see Blossoms heading for #1, it's another great album from them great to also see The Weeknd on lock for his first UK #1, it's been a long time coming. All in all, a very good set of mids today!
Wow fantastic opening sales for Blossoms, one of my fav bands of the past 5 years! Sort of thought it would open poorly after the underwhelming download position but they seemingly have a decent fanbase now!
Great for Blossoms, although it's a pity that they still can't translate their album success into a Top 75 hit single.

KSI charting and debuting higher than Dua? You hate to see it.
boo :/ was kinda fearing that
this morning I checked the YT chart and KSI are #1 with a huge lead while Dua is just new at #20 even beaten by Meghan Trainor
also very poor update for Blossoms and Louis in albums, not even 1K on Monday is bad
Blossoms should still hold No. 1 but Louis could potentially drop to No. 4 based on that. He's still got lots of promo this week though hasn't he, so that should help him.
I hate to say it but Keshas album is really unremarkable.
There’s nothing on there what stood out tbh and it’s like she’s regressed since her last album what was a real moment for her.
Not shocked to see it underperform although I didn’t think it’d do this badly.
C'mon Squarepusher! stay top 40
Louis shifting 600 The sales from the signings were sold as ticket/album bundles though so those would have all been accounted for n the first update. Time for him to wheel out the £4.99 reduction and signed cassettes.
Louis Tomlinson should take Number 4 on Friday.
Urgh at Meghan! Ouch at Kesha and Louis only managing 600 sales is quite surprising! Album signings not really helping either then!
Glad to see Doja climbing and likely securing her top 40 placement but I’m worried for Becky again
Billie Eilish, Regard and AJ Tracey climbing Even though all three songs have passed their sell-by date
Is it time to start tracking what the Top 40 would have looked like without the 25% automatic reset rule in place? Some of those songs will still be on SCR for weeks if not months to come.
Where abouts are the Pet Shop Boys in albums update today?
Pet Shops are currently 10 places higher than i thought they would be for this week.
Louis Tomlinson, looks to come in under 15k for the week but is still performing better than I expected.
Glad to see Jonas Brothers in the top 30... hope it keeps rising over the next few weeks I absolutely love the song!
Louis album should get a decent sales boost tomorrow - the extra signed CDs they added to Amazon were not meant to be shipped for another 2 weeks but they obviously realized they needed those sales in week 1 and I just received a shipping notification
Those sales would be better for next week for Louis to keep the album some way a float in the week of an inevitable huge drop.
Even with these sales, i still cant see Louis achieving higher than Number 4.
Looks like Weeknd has increased his lead from Roddy. I was expecting the lead to decrease
The Weeknd has been consistently outperforming Roddy for the last 2 weeks, why would the gap be closing xx

Hopefully an indicator that we'll get a nice bit of movement next week!
Come on Dua, would really love this to squeeze in at #10 for its first week at least, though I doubt this week will be its peak week anyway.
Can Do a Lipa get that top 10 debut this week do we reckon?
Glad to see Dua re-overtaking KSI but I kind of expect him to push really hard for downloads today/tomorrow to get a top 10 like he did with 'Down Like That'.
Aw at Squarepusher being out of the top 40 already D: though it should still give him his highest chart position to date (he's had 3 previous top 100 albums but none charted higher than #89).
Blossoms locked on for #1!
Next week will be interesting - I would have Green Day as a #1 contender, but this album is looking to be very different to their previous releases and it's very short as well. Though will low sales from others they could still do it.
I think Greenday will swim to Number 1 no trouble unless there's a bigger contender out there?
Hopefully, Becky Hill makes it into the top 40 and that Ladbroke Grove will be back out of the top 40 by Friday
Thinking about it actually - Green Day will have loads of sales from the Hella Mega stadium tour tickets (for presale you had to buy one of Green Day, Fall Out Boy or Weezer's new albums) - so there should be lots of sales from that.
Green Day look like they should probably be the highest new entry next week, just a matter of if they still have enough of a fanbase to beat whatever Lewis will be selling. Their last album in 2016 did 30k first week so they probably have a decent chance. Lol if they get a #1 album with what's heavily rumoured to be a low effort troll album to get out of their contract though ~
Troll effort or not, I've been really surprised by how much I like the singles
How’s Fine Line doing this week??
Meghan potentially missing the top 40 then and Kesha most certainly missing the top 40.
Blossoms sold 900 copies yesterday
Louis sold 1,000 copies
Lewis sold 2,100 copies
Eminem 2,000 copies
J Hus 2,400 copies
If sales stay the same, Louis is guaranteed #4 but still has a good chance of finishing at #3.
Great to see Becky climb 3 spots since yesterday, top 40 looking more likely. Also glad Halsey seems set to go top 20 this week
who knows, maybe they add some last minute cassette sales from his website like they did with Selena
and hew ends up at #1
we've had a few surprises recently
Funny seeing Jonas Brothers and Joel Corry switch places from yesterday. Hope both songs make it into the top 30 and that Regard gets pushed out. I also hope that Dermot (POM) can sneak into the top 40
Pleased that The Weeknd looks secure for his first UK #1.
Shift K3Y that's a name I didn't expect to see back in the charts from 'Touch' fame.
Hope Godzilla sneaks into no4 again.
And yes great to see Halsey into the top 20 with her new single!
Are the pet shop boys still number 11?
Come on Becky!! Really want her to get that top 40 as lead artist.
.
Does JLo's Greatest Hits album have a chance to re enter the top albums following the Superbowl?
