What a nice surprise w00t.gif

https://www.royalalberthall.com/tickets/events/2019/emma-buntons-christmas-party

I made a new thread because it could be nice to keep the info on this show in one place. Hopefully as we get near the time, we get some news and rumours about the 'guests'.

But HEY WE HAVE A BUNTON SOLO GIG!! She hasnt done a solo gig since GAY back in 2006 teresa.gif

Tickets on sale this Friday cheer.gif

Huhm. My Happy Place re-release with Christmas songs disc coming?

Posted by: Jay ☆ 10th September 2019, 11:02 AM

A nice surprise, indeed! Don't think I'll be able to make it to this though. cry.gif

Probably! Or even just a Chritmas album. There were rumours throughout the last 10 years that she was recording one so might see the light of day finally. Im not that fussed about a Xmas album but I WILL TAKE A BUNTON LIVE GIG ANY DAY!

JAY! It's Bunton. Doing a live gig. At the f***ing Albert Hall. That's iconic and you can't miss it. Cancel everything else. Come on, we can go together yahoo.gif

Posted by: Jay ☆ 10th September 2019, 11:41 AM

cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif I really shouldn't! Promised myself I'd save after splashing out on 9 concerts this year already blush.gif

Will be interesting if she does a Christmas album... you'd think it would have been announced alongside this though?

Posted by: vibe 10th September 2019, 12:49 PM

I would rather a normal gig rather than her do some solo stuff and xmas covers.

Better than nothing i guess.

Anyone have price information.

Might be one of those things where the venue let the cat out of the bag too early.

It seems really random to be honest if there's nothing else tied to this, especially as they must've booked that slot months ago.

Posted by: vibe 10th September 2019, 04:54 PM

Emma has been promoting this on social media.

Posted by: Spiceboy 10th September 2019, 05:30 PM

How much are tickets? I’d love to go but can not afford it, might ask mum and dad if they fancy getting me then for Christmas wub.gif

Posted by: schizo_spice 10th September 2019, 07:42 PM

Cute didn't expect anything further solo this year.

Hope it leads to a solo tour.

So happy for Emma!!!!!! wub.gif

What do you think the set-list will be like?

I hope she does her biggest hits, obvs and I would DIE for her to do some album tracks, plus some guest appereances.

Singles:
What Took You So Long?
Take My Breath Away (could totally work with a Xmas arrangement)
Free Me
Maybe (xmas mix, totally different like she did with the Latino mix)
All I Need To Know (imagine, with snow falling it would be amaziiing)
Downtown (i dont like it but its totally xmas already so it makes sense!)
You're All I Need To Get By - with Jade Jones

Album tracks (any of these would be perfect for orchestra!)
Too Many Teardrops
Breathing
All That You'll Be
I Only Want to Be With You - with Will Young

Guests

Christmas Medley - the rest of the Spice Girls pop on stage and sing a medley of their THREE Xmas #1 singles 2 Become 1, Too Much and Goodbye
All I Want For Christmas is You - duet with Michael Bublé
Ginggle Bells - duet with All Saints

That's a bit optimistic - she'll probably do, at best, 1-2 album tracks. I doubt she'll do All I Need To Know over Baby Please Don't Stop tbh.

Posted by: sammy01 11th September 2019, 08:01 AM

All I need to know I'd say has a big chance of being used. Imagine her in an outfit similar to the video and twinkly lights, it's not a Christmas song but it would fit nicely in a Christmas theme.

No meet and greets apparently. I did see prices on Spice Circle earlier but can't find them now (that page is so annoying lol) I know cheapest were £30 and most expensive (hospitality package) was £230 next one down I think was £95?

Posted by: Mr.X 11th September 2019, 09:34 PM

She should fire the graphic designer though

https://spicegirls.com.br/storage/2019/09/Royal-Albert-Hall-emma-bunton.jpg

Posted by: vibe 12th September 2019, 04:39 PM

The design is rubbish.

Not long now to the ticket rush but will be easy enough as thousands available.

Posted by: sammy01 12th September 2019, 09:14 PM

Tickets are already on sale if you pay £45 and become a Royal Albert Hall member, a fair few have already done that as it gives you access to all tickets now.

Posted by: Spiceboy 12th September 2019, 09:16 PM

I really want to go but just can't justify spending the money at the min since we are living on one wage. Maybe if the job hunt looks up and there are still some left I can get some closer to the time... (fingers crossed)

Found the prices all with booking fee included:
Seats - £60.50
Seats - £77.00
Seats - £93.50
Seats - £136.00

Standing - £77.00

Gold Circle - £196.00

VIP Seats - £231.00
VIP Standing - £176.00
VIP Gold Circle - £291.00

Yeah I'm not too concerned about this selling out at those prices... will see if I can afford tickets closer to the time.

I'm pretty much 100% she will sing Baby please don't stop... it's the lead single from MYP.

I'm thinking something along the lines of:

1. What I am
2. What took you so long
3. Take my breath away
4. Free me
5. Maybe
6. I'll be there
7. Downtown
8. All I need to know
9. Baby please don't stop
10. All I need to get by (with Jade)

11. Sunshine on a rainy day
12. Breathing
13. Something tells me
14. Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps
15. Take me to another town
16. Too many teardrops
17. I wish I could have loved you more
18. Don't call me baby

If she can get them to perform:
19. I only wanna be with you (with Will Young)
20. Something stupid (with Robbie Williams)
21. 2 become 1 (with Melanie C)
22. Viva forever (with Mel B)

Obviously some of these songs would be taken out as I am guessing it will be a 20 song list max, but these are the most likely choices I can think of due to them being hits/singles, well known covers and a couple of fan favourites / potential singles...

24 songs is far too much

1.5 hour show

I would like the following tracks (not in this order)

1. What Took You So Long
2. Take My Breath Away
3. Maybe
4. Free Me
5. I'll Be There
6. Downtown
7. All I Need To Know
8. Take Me To Another Town
9. Baby Please Don't Stop
10. Don't Call Me Baby
11. Goodbye (solo version)
12. I Only Want To Be With You (with Will Young)
13. You're All I Need To Get By (with Jade Jones)
14. 2 Become 1 (with Robbie Williams)
15. Christmas Wrapping (with Melanie C)
16. Last Christmas (George Michael Cover)
17. Rocking Around The Christmas Tree (Brenda Lee Cover)
18. Fairy Tale of New York (with Male guest performer)

It has not sold that well !! (Yet)

Posted by: Slick 14th September 2019, 10:21 AM

I've got my ticket to this! An Emma Bunton solo gig is an absolute must. I imagine it'll be more than 50% Christmas songs but as long as I get to hear a few singles I'll be happy.

Posted by: Piers 14th September 2019, 01:04 PM

Lol. You guys are way more hopeful than I am with the setlists.

I'm half expecting her to do What Took You So Long, 2 Become 1 (with Mel C?), You're All I Need to Get By (with Jade), Baby Please Don't Stop (just because she hasn't forgotten it exists yet)...and then a whole ton of Christmas stuff.

Granted, that's not what I hope happens. I'd love it if she did all of her top tens (a Christmas-themed Maybe performance would be fab) and the three Spice Girls Christmas number ones.

I'm definitely not expecting album tracks or All I Need to Know. That's a song that charted at #60 13 years ago. I wonder if she even remembers it at all. But. Anyway. It'd be a nice surprise if it shows up. I've liked quite a bit of her original material (not the covers so much). So. Any of it that gets some love at the show is a bonus.

Posted by: Babyboy 14th September 2019, 02:17 PM

How is doing? It is a big venue for Emma..

Posted by: Michael Andrew 14th September 2019, 05:46 PM

Just bought my tickets too. I'm excited for a live solo Emma Bunton show. About bloody time! She will be amazing.

I'd love to hear
• Maybe
• What Took You So Long
• Baby Please Don't Stop
• I'll Be There
• All I Need To Know

If she does any Spice Girls songs:
• 2 Become 1
• Too Much

Melanie C has demonstrated those work as solo.

If she does album tracks:
• Too Many Teardrops
• Take Me To Another Town
• All That You'll Be

If she does covers:
• Something Tells Me
• Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps

I agree that people are being way too optimistic, especially with her doing things like All I Need To Know.

With her solo stuff I could see What Took You So Long, Maybe, Downtown, Baby Please Don't Stop and You're All I Need To Get By (/w Jade) (and some of those might be shortened). But that's about it. I have a hard time seeing her perform non-cover album tracks. I guess I Only Want To Be With You if they can snag Will Young and of course 2 Become 1 probably with Mel C. The rest will likely be Christmas songs.

Posted by: sammy01 14th September 2019, 09:26 PM

Setlist prediction -

WTYSL
Take my breath away
Maybe
I'll be there
Downtown (with Christmas bells)
All I need to know (with bells and fake snow falling)
Baby please dont stop

2 become 1 (with Mel C)
Goodbye (with Mel B)

10 xmas songs. Including Xmas wrapping with the 2 Mels.

At a glance I estimate she's sold around 2,000 tickets and has over 3,000 left to sell.

I feel like it should be okay in the long run. Hopefully there'll be a promotional push and I'm sure there'll be numerous people who'll feel more inclined to buy Christmas themed tickets once we reach November.

Exactly, so far this is only hardcore Emma fans who have brought a ticket. it has only been promoted on social media to her fans. Special guests announced, TV promo, everyone feeling more xmas like in a couple of months. It will be sold out.

Hopefully this indicates that Emma is recording some Christmas songs?

Posted by: Spiceboy 17th September 2019, 07:15 AM

How do we know that’s about Emma?

Posted by: Jay ☆ 17th September 2019, 09:54 AM

We don’t, but this is who she worked with on My Happy Place, she’s got a Christmas concert coming up & they’ve retweeted tweets asking if it’s Emma (not necessarily a confirmation but kind of a weird thing to do if it’s not her). We’ll see!

Posted by: sammy01 17th September 2019, 12:16 PM

They would be a bit mad not to chuck out a xmas ep or a my happy place reissue with xmas bonus tracks.

Posted by: tommie 17th September 2019, 12:46 PM

To be fair, she could just be recording studio versions of the planned Christmas tracks she plans to perform as back up for the show, so it might have nothing to do with any release at all.

I'm not sure they will go to that much trouble for a one off show. I'm sure she will have 2 or 3 backing singers on chorus who are in Santa outfits and do little dance routines behind mic stands at the back of the stage.

You're right. They'd never pay for those sessions for a crappy Emma Bunton show. It's not like she's Mel C or anything. pirate.gif

I've been thinking about what the setlist might look like and I'm thinking these songs are probs likely:

Singles:
1. What I am
2. What took you so long
3. Take my breath away
4. Free me
5. Maybe
6. I’ll be there
7. Downtown
8. I know him so well (with Melanie C)
9. Baby please don’t stop
10. All I need (with Jade)

My Happy Place Album tracks:
11. Teardrops
12. I wish I could have loved you more
13. I only want to be with you (with Will Young)
14. Don’t call me baby

Christmas tracks:
15. Last Christmas
16. Christmas wrapping (with Melanie C)
17. Baby it’s cold outside
18. All I want for Christmas
19. 2 become 1 (with Mel B or Robbie Williams)

Although I have a horrid feeling Here comes the sun might be in there, I'd rather any other track from that album tbh lol.

As much as I would love that, I don't think she will do so many singles and album tracks. She will probably do like 15 songs max... Forget Don't Call Me Baby, Teardrops, etc. This will be the big singles (Maybe, What Took You So Long, Take My Breath Away...), a couple of Spice tracks and then Christmas songs only.

I would LOVE a proper Emma Bunton gig though. Maybe one day...

OMG SAME! Teardrops is in my Top 10 Emma songs and it totally needs a live performance. I wish 🙏🏼

If it had been me, I would have released Teardrops as the lead single of My Happy Place, actually. Imagine it with a powerful video like All Saint's Never Ever style, and I think the album would have been more successful than this tbh.

It is a crime she didnt release a video for it at all. All I Need To Get By and Baby Please Don't Stop were cute, but Teardrops deserved the most attention!!

I think BPDS was probably the right first single but Teardrops is the better song and should have been the stronger second single with a proper promo trail. She barely performed her singles anywhere tbh why wasn’t she on This Morning and Loose Women etc?? A radio tour should have happened too...

Posted by: Mr.X 6th October 2019, 10:39 AM

I agree with you! I still tihnk Teardrops would have been the better first single, though. think the album being released SO CLOSE to the start of rehearsals for the Spice Girls tour was a bad move! She should have released a bit earlier in the year, with proper promo not just a few interviews on BBC Radio 2!

Posted by: sammy01 6th October 2019, 01:02 PM

I think the album should have been released a month earlier. Then the 2nd single promo be during rehearsals.

Emma just confirmed on The One Show that Will Young and Jade Jones will be performing with her at the Royal Albert Hall.

Shaping up to be a great show.

Posted by: Mr.X 6th November 2019, 12:09 AM

Glad about Will Young! Hope a couple more guests will turn up! Deffo one of the Mels will jump on stage!

Posted by: Spiceboy 11th November 2019, 12:06 AM

OK what do people think the setlist is going to be for the RAH gig? I'm predicting the below:

1. What I am
2. What took you so long
3. Take my breath away
4. Free me
5. Maybe
6. I’ll be there
7. Downtown
8. Baby please don’t stop
9. You’re all I need to get by (with Jade)
10. I only wanna be with you (with Will Young)
11. 2 become 1 (with Melanie C)
12. Coming home for Christmas
13. Santa baby
14. All I want for Christmas
15. Baby it’s cold outside
16. Last Christmas
17. I wish it could be Christmas everyday
18. Silent night

I think she will do all her top 10 singles and the two from the new album (YAINTGB purely because we know Jade is performing). Then she is bound to be doing the Will Young cover and she mentioned doing some of her solo singles and Spice Girls songs so I think 2 become 1 will show up possibly with Melanie C.

Then I think the rest will be Christmas songs, obviously we have seen she has done Santa Baby in Florida so reckon that's one plus the new Christmas single. I'd much prefer if she did Teardrops, Breathing, IWICHLYM, All I need to know... but I don't think they will get a look in. It's possible she might do some of the other covers she has done like Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps, Something tells me, Sunshine on a rainy day, Life in mono etc as they may be more familiar for the audience...?

Emma just posted on her social medias a clip of her singing her new song, Coming Home For Christmas. She sounds devine wub.gif

He's hoping she comes back quickly to UK and does promo for it!

Her voice is so pure it was made for angelic xmas music.

Posted by: Mr.X 26th November 2019, 08:57 PM

Some confirmed songs that Emma will be performing:

Maybe
2 Become 1
Say You'll Be There
Viva Forever
Take My Breath Away
Santa Baby
Coming Home For Christmas

Emma confirmed it herself here ah: https://twitter.com/EmmaBunton/status/1199417499953049600?fbclid=IwAR2YBb0Av6uVw5dpx9gQCx09prZw6rXSjwNG5bgS6iqgJrwDVQjbMhM6F5s

So surprised about Viva Forever and Say You'll Be There! I knew she was going to do some Spice Girls songs but wasnt expecting either of the two. A solo Emma version of Viva Forever in particular EXCITES ME wub.gif Totally expecting Mel C or Mel B to join her for Say You'll Be There ah

Posted by: sammy01 26th November 2019, 09:00 PM

At least she knows what songs people want to hear, I'm sure that conformation of Maybe, Viva forever and SYBT will push some more tickets.

Posted by: Spiceboy 26th November 2019, 10:43 PM

Bitch better perform What took you so long, her only #1!!! Also I'd much rather Free me over TMBA, I would have thought that would be more memorable since the era was alot more memorable than the first one. What I am would also be a well known one for the audience.

Posted by: Mr.X 27th November 2019, 12:36 PM

Emma just announced a new guest for the Albert Hall gig and it's erm........ Matt Goss dry.gif

So far, it is quite underwelming to be honest with you. I hope she brings Mel C or Mel B into it, or one of the All Saints.

Matt Goss, Will Young and Jade. She is really going for that late 90's, early 00's nostalgia factor hey?

Here's hoping she can announce a more interesting guest to the list.

Posted by: vibe 27th November 2019, 02:38 PM

Posted by: Spice Girls Net 27th November 2019, 05:57 PM

How many seats at the Royal Albert Hall? Is it 7,000 roughly?

Posted by: Jay ☆ 27th November 2019, 06:38 PM

Just under 5,500 overall capacity. My guess from glancing the seats left is that she maybe has in the region of 1,500 left to sell?

Posted by: sammy01 27th November 2019, 09:02 PM

4k sold, doing amazing. When did a solo spice last sell 4k tickets anywhere.

Posted by: Mr.X 27th November 2019, 10:23 PM

She is selling slowly but she will be fine. If she continues with promo, she will sell out by the time the show starts!

These venues have ways of selling tickets and it's not like Emma has a huge touring/live profile. In fact she is pretty new to this area and yet to prove herself as a solo live act.

I hope it sells out eventually and this giver her confidence to do more. I wish she would be out there performing in festivals and appereances like Mel C does. She's clearly not that kind of live act, touring everywhere. But I could see her doing things like the Proms, Jools Holland and smaller scale festivals.

She just needs to get a concert promoter that has confidence in her ability to perform well!

Posted by: d22ghj 28th November 2019, 12:56 PM

Don’t worry there are seat filler agencies that can make up some of the difference.

Posted by: pippa 28th November 2019, 02:14 PM

I think the show will be packed tomorrow and that is all credit to her though, even if it doesnt sell out completely. She has done well so far, for an artist who has never toured and hasnt done a full gig for over 20 years on her own and is not known for it either.

She really should have toured with Free Me. It would have cemented her as a credible pop artist like she was then on the verge of achieving. Still remember her saying she wanted to tour with full orchestra at the time - that would have been epic! She could have easily sell out a theatre tour at the time.

Sadly, I think the whole US release actually derailed that. It seems like when she should've probably exclusively focused on the UK market with some odd European dates she decided to suddenly attempt to crack the US, which just was unnecessary as it was never going to go anywhere except for the bargain bins (if stores had even put Free Me in stock to be bargain binned).

Posted by: Jay ☆ 6th December 2019, 12:03 AM

That was definitely the time she should have attempted a tour, and it honestly seems weird that she didn't. Suppose it shows the label/management didn't have enough faith in her, which is a shame. Summer or autumn of 2004 would have been a great time to tour (and released a Double A side of Breathing and No Sign of Life at the same time w00t.gif )

I don't even remember what she got up to during the second half of 2004 (was it European promo? Or did she just take time off lol). I don't think the US push came until 2005 did it?

At a glance, I would estimate she's about 85% sold out at the Royal Albert Hall, which I guess would give the impression of feeling like a full crowd, even though as things stand there's probably approaching 1,000 tickets that remain unsold.

By the way, that £15 tickets deal was for the £51 seat area, which is for the top tiers towards the back and the sides. There's still a few left at this price bracket. The only people who could buy these cheap tickets will have already needed to have been signed up to that seat fillers site though, it's not accepting new registrations!

Posted by: Mr.X 6th December 2019, 12:52 AM

Yes she did her play her cards very wrong in that period. She released Crickets, which was helping the album grow and then stopped for a while before attempting the US. A bad move, but I think that was probably Simon's plan and she went with it.

She could have totally done a No Sign Of Life/Breathing double A-side at the end of the Summer (would be perfect timing for those songs!), do some summer festivals, which at the time still had a lot of pop presence, radio shows, etc and then do a small concert hall/theatre tour. Probably wouldn't made much of a profit, but would certainly capitalise on the good will she had at the time. A shame it got lost, because then she dissapeared for a couple of years and launched her new album off the back of Strictly, which was another bad move.

For once, I am glad she is putting herself out there as a live act. Let's hope this brings her confidence to do more. Selling 85% of tickets at the Albert Hall is no bad feat!

Yeah the Albert Hall cheaper tickets launched yesterday were only for the top tier, but it did help as it sold quite a lot. Nonetheless, a lot of the remaining stalls tickets (which were more expensive, at like £75 each) sold yesterday which is a surprise. Maybe the tourists/last min boost of off-west end ticket seller stalls across London worked, who knows! Also the Choir seats sold impressively over the last 24 hours! They had barely sold any of those a couple of days ago so maybe people have been leaving it to the last min (which is normal in London ah!).

It will look busy, which is nice! The main worry is the Second and Third tier boxes, which continue to look a bit empty (so expensive though ah!).

I think her main issue is how expensive the tickets are overall, and her lack of profile as a live act. So she has done well!!

The album was released January 25th, 2005 in the US, but I'm pretty sure she spent the last part of 2004 promoting Free Me and Maybe there. Glancing at the Wikipedia page, yeah, she probably did spend some time in other markets, but honestly that wouldn't have stopped her from doing a mini tour and the festival circuit. But it's the same way that I feel about Dannii and Neon Nights - when she finally managed to build up a respectable profile in the UK she also went off instead and promoted elsewhere (though I suppose she had the failed Girl tour behind her).

Cardiff Arena is one of the smallest arenas in the country (and of the major arenas big artists tend to visit, it’s probably the smallest one). It’s not exactly atypical of what selling out an arena date usually entails!

Emma has come somewhat close to selling out one date at a concert hall (a very prestigious one, of course, but still... it’s a concert hall venue). It’s an achievement in Emma’s solo career, in terms of the fact that she’s never done a solo show before, but drawing comparisons to it being like almost selling out a small arena makes it seem more lame than you probably intended the comparison to come across like, lol.

(Little Mix didn’t visit Cardiff Arena on their most recent tour, although they did perform 32 arena dates at venues mostly ranging from 10k to 20k!)

Right, that's why. She's still selling okay though considering barely active as a solo artist and suddenly showing up in a very short period of time. You can't only rely on spice buzz and a cover album to sell out 5,500 capacity hall after long years break, you need to work more for it, so selling like 70-80% is still a success I think.

What a fantastic show. It was my first time seeing Baby Spice live as a solo artist. And she didn't disappoint.

Emma's voice is incredibly strong these days. Comparing last night's performance to the Spice World 98 tour – you can tell she's been working on her voice over the years. Of course, she has always had that warm, sweet tone. But now, boy can she belt it out. What's more, she was a natural on stage – exuding personality and charisma. She was every inch the pop super star.

The whole production was carefully choreographed and every song brought something new. A great deal of attention had been given to creating a cohesive show. And yet she managed to weave together so many hits. 'Maybe' was a personal highlight. That dance routine alone was a spectacle to witness. Yet I also appreciated the swing-styled 'Say You'll Be There' and 'What Took You So Long'.

I'd personally love to buy a live recording of 'Emma Bunton's Christmas Party'. It was a dream.

Kind of agree. I loved her solo songs, her Spice Girls covers and the fact she brought over gems from her own repertoire. It was a DELIGHT to see her perform Free Me, Take My Breath Away and Too Many Teardrops! What an absolute treat.

Personally, the overabundance of Christmas songs ruined it for me. She could have gone the better way and do just a couple of songs in each act but instead, she went IN on the christmas songs straight from the opening and personally, I just looked like bad karaoke with a budget...Shame she also mimed Maybe and Don't Call Me Baby. You could tell she was miming, which was sad.

Apart from that, MORE EMMA please!! Her voice was indeed incredible.

I left after What Took You So Long, because I had to get to Soho for a theatre show. I could have stayed for a bit more as I had the time, but honestly it was clear she was going to do more Christmas songs and no more of her own after that, so me and my friends just left ah

Hope she does her own tour, because indeed she has the talent and presence to do it!

What Christmas classics would we like to see her cover/perform?
I could imagine her doing these nicely for the album / to perform. Some of these aren't necessarily big favourites of mine, but I'm trying to imagine what would suit her vocals:

Baby, It's Cold Outside (with Jade Jones)
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
I'm Gonna Be Warm This Winter
It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year
Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree
Santa Baby
Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town
Winter Wonderland

Would be great to see her perform Christmas Wrapping with Melanie C!

Just looking back to see which song choices I predicted correctly and what I was wrong about!

Correct predictions:
Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree
Baby, It's Cold Outside (with Jade Jones) - (Ooh I was spot on with this duet *.*)
Winter Wonderland
Santa Baby - (and of course she even did a studio recording of this)
Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year - (Although she performed it with Matt Goss)

I didn't predict:
Jingle Bell Rock
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
Rockin' Robin
I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday

Incorrect predictions:
I'm Gonna Be Warm This Winter
Christmas Wrapping (with Melanie C) cry.gif

Of the songs she did, that would have been a nice selection for a Christmas album. If she'd released an album it likely wouldn't have done great things, but it would have been nice to have it anyway. She was probably right to play it safe by just releasing one cover & a new song.

I wish I'd been able to go to the show, but unfortunately it just wasn't good timing for me. sad.gif

Like schizo_spice says, I'm also quite surprised she snubbed I'll Be There, What I Am and Downtown. I feel like Downtown in particularly would have really suited the Royal Albert Hall.

I'm annoyed about the Coming Home For Christmas/Santa Baby CD. Supposedly only 96 copies printed? Ridiculous! That barely catered to people actually attending the show, let alone her fan base at large. Surely it's a missed opportunity to not print more & sell them on her website... she clearly has a few thousand loyal fans who would buy it. Would 96 copies even worth the manufacturing costs lol?

Posted by: sammy01 8th December 2019, 09:39 AM

The CD single was sold out in the first half an hour. I think there was 100 at each entrance (96 probably at one because 4 had been pre-sold before the doors opened). Most fans on Spice Circle who attended didn't manage to get one as it sold out so quickly. Surely sticking 1k copies on her webstore now would be easy money.

The whole thing was a success though, she got amazing press after (especially for a solo spice girl) and really if she and BMG are willing a 10 date tour of 800 to 1k venues and a new album should be the plan. Add in some small summer festivals.

Darling packed actually refers to things being packed in as in utilising every bit of space there is, so how can a not sold out date be packed?

Anyways I won’t argue one moment more sweet cheeks let’s just agree the night was fabulous tongue.gif

OK so we are going for semantics dissagrements here, which frankly I dont have much time for. I work in the entertainment business and let me tell you that sold out means sold out and 'packed' means it was busy close to sold out. It might be just a way that people refer to how well things sold rather than it being a standard use of the 'completely accurate and 100%' correct use of the English language.

I agree that the night was fabulous (thought I wish it had less Christmas songs..)

Posted by: sammy01 8th December 2019, 12:53 PM

A small tour of 8 venues that seat 1k people would get all the Spice crazies flying back over to the UK for it because it would have the lure of hearing all the singles and album tracks. Take those xmas songs out and add in singles and album tracks and you have an even better show I'd say.

Posted by: Mr.X 8th December 2019, 12:57 PM

Agree! Plus if she does the odd festival/event as well, it just helps bring in other casual listeners in general. Get on the road Bunton!

Posted by: Jay ☆ 8th December 2019, 04:38 PM

Would be lovely if it spurs her on to try a little tour in the future. Let me see you in the midlands, Bunton!

I loved every one of her Christmas versions of the songs I have to say, really wish BMG had released a Christmas album with those songs now, they really suited her voice!

The problem for Emma is the amount of money she will make doing a small tour, new album and small summer festivals is probably nothing compared to a regular radio djing slot of a presenting/judging role on TV.

Last year she had the massive money safety net of the reunion tour so her solo music career was almost a side project. Next year if it is the only thing she has bar bits and pieces of other work here and there will be interesting to see if she is still committed.

But really there is no reason why she can’t do her solo career alongside other bits and pieces. It’s not like she is consumed by worldwide promotion it’s literally just a couple of weeks promo and a small tour can be done in a few weeks time too... she could easily have done it alongside her Heart radio gig, she could even have it negotiated it into her contract that they play her material if she has a good enough manager...

Posted by: Mr.X 8th December 2019, 07:59 PM

No-one makes money from Music releases. She literally needs to tour to make up losses of making an album and releasing it.

There was a fan on Spice Circle who mentioned that BMG are actually quite happy with Emma and have plans for next year for her. Let's hope she has a deal that covers it all, including her doing more charity, more touring projects, and hopefully more music.

Would be great if she could release some duets with other artists to tie her up until she has new music of her own to release though...

BMG are happy, they've just released a Christmas single with Emma.

Posted by: sammy01 8th December 2019, 08:29 PM

Deluxe copies of My happy place and the vinyl were on sale at the gig, the vinyl was on sale at Wembley. Anything sold at those gigs wont be included in the albums UK chart sales though sadly as those sorts of places aren't registered with the OCC to count copies.

The album is still stocked in HMV (£5.99 2 for £10) and the regular, deluxe and signed are all still in stock on HMV. BMG are still getting what they can out of Emma and My happy place.

They invested zero in this single release. They didn't commission a music video or even a new photo shoot for it.

AHAHH no, Chris Stroud who consistently promotes stuff for the girls. He seems to know a bit of inside stuff, he knew about the RAH concert and knew the promo that was coming out. I think he is one of those people that every now and then the girls bring relatively on board to hype up their releases/announcements when they have stuff to announce.

Why would they bother for an xmas song. Little Mix have tour footage in their Christmas single video, Liam Payne'sxmas song has a cheap annimated video. I wouldn't want BMG to waste money on a video.

They released it and Santa Baby is on a decent playlist, they scammed 10 quid a copy out of people at the gig for a CD single too.

Saw some videos, she's such an angel still. A duet album with veteran and current young artists would be heaven for me, that angelic voice pretty much can suit with everyone. Is there gonna be a commercial release for this concert?

As far as we know, the concert was not professional recorded so probably not. I would imagine if she does it again they would probably do it yeah.

I'm not sure to what standard and for what purpose but Chris confirmed it was filmed by a camera at the front and backstage. I'd think it would be more for maybe something on YouTube rather than commercial release.

Also Chris is asking those who want a Home for Christmas cd single to sign up to a special email they are looking to try and make enough to cover the demand.

There was a post on Instagram of Emma and the guy that 'filmed the show'. He was the same guy who filmed the behind the scenes/stage shots for the 2019 Spice World Tour which was used on their YouTube channel. I assume they'll do the same with Emma's show perhaps?

Ah nice! It seems like she worked with the same team that she worked on for the Spice World tour this year. Some of the House of Baby dancers, the same choreographer, and now the same video guy... interesting indeed... Bunton likes to keep it in the family!

Probably cheaper than to try and keep seperate auditions for it. Baby's on a budget.

Many of the dancers on the tour have all overlapped working with various artists recently. I didn't really take any notice before but as I follow a few of them some dance with
Dua Lipa, Kylie etc then for the SG and now with Emma. I'm sure it's one of those professions were everyone knows or works with each other at some point.

I never got around to watching anything from this concert last year. I'll have to make some time to watch it this Christmas! The above video is the full show, lots of fan footage spliced together.
