"Waking Up In Vegas"

Here are some Buzzjack opinions on it from when it first came out:
QUOTE(Rob S~ @ Feb 28 2009, 09:09 PM) *
Ok its a good rocking showstopper of a song but i don't like it at all. One of my least faves. TOY is definently better or Self Iflicted

QUOTE(RobBob @ Feb 28 2009, 09:57 PM) *
Hope it does well though, love Mrs Perry to bits. And, this is a really good track, shame for TOY though.

QUOTE(Tyler @ Feb 28 2009, 11:10 PM) *
Hot & Cold and IKAG were so much better then TOY and this.

This song is ok though, just extremely generic and just bleh. Ur So Gay should be re-released or One Of The Boys should be released. OR I'm Still Breathing.

Those are the only 3 songs on the album I like after HAC and IKAG.

QUOTE(mr_pmt @ Feb 28 2009, 11:38 PM) *
I like this song a lot, I think her album is pretty awful but she's been smart with the singles so far and released the album's best four tracks.

Performing this instead of 'Thinking Of You' was a bizarre decision to say the least though.

?!?

It's just my opinion of course, but whilst IKAG and H&C were strong songs, they were very generic. Formula Dr Luke-type stuff...

Waking Up In Vegas has more personality. Still baffling that they're ignoring If You Can Afford Me. Her best song. By a MILE.

Was my fave back then and is still my fave now wub.gif

Basically pop-rock at its absolute finest, strong melody and lyrics and did well to recover from TOY underperforming. I was so happy it got to #1 on pop radio in the US.

This was good and really saved her from ProtoScreech ehich is one of the worst songs about and definitely her worst.

It was actually a big hit and all over tv and radio despite its peak. A turntable hit!!

My first memory of this is seeing it on a music channel whilst on holiday and it was instant love. This and Hot N Cold are both such fun, catchy pop songs, still my fave two wub.gif

I do kinda like this too, especially the video which is a lot of fun but once again it's not one of her best tracks for me. There are a few other tracks I'd have chosen as singles such as One of the Boys and If You Can Afford Me before this from her debut album.

A really great way to end her debut era and did well enough to recover the damage that 'TOY' did, If this was released as the 3rd single, then it definitely would have been much bigger than it was. But anyway it's still a very solid pop rock song with a great chorus and fantastic production with it's rock guitars and drums that makes it sound massive, especially for a song that's basically about getting wasted.

Such a shame that this gets overlooked, compared to some of her other big hits and feels pretty much forgotten now, but who cares.. it's still fantastic and I would rank it in my top 10 fave Katy Perry singles.
