Ariana Grande - Side to Side (feat. Nicki Minaj)
UK chart-run: 66-72R(14)-24-8-6-6-5-4-7-9-12-14-14-13-20-25-32-37-35-32-34-35-37-40-44-56-70-56R(15)-71->29

Today marks five years since 'Side to Side' was released! This was Ari's third team-up with serial collaborator Nicki Minaj following 'Bang Bang' and 'Get On Your Knees'. The first two singles from this era - 'Dangerous Woman' and 'Into You' missed the top 10 in the U.K. but 'Side to Side' proved to be a big hit in waiting and climbed to an impressive peak of #4. So this continued the trend of the 'Dangerous Woman' singles ascending with each peak position here. 'Side to Side' showcased a different... side... to Ari as she stepped into more of a reggae-pop lane. The lyrics are of course complete filth. The music video makes the most of 'Side to Side's playfulness and worked wonders for its success. Ari leads a spin class on bicycles and is later chilling by the sauna with Nicki. It was nominated for 'Best Choreography' at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards. It is still Ari's most-viewed music video to date with an impressive 1.9 billion views.

How do you feel about 'Side to Side' five years on?

The song has never really been my thing but I do love the video and feel like it's the moment that really turned her into a star wub.gif

Huge banger, I don't get why it seems to be so hated these days.

Yeh I really don't understand it. It's such a bop, did HUGE things for her career and has an iconic video.

It's these gays being offended by "overly sexual" lyrics and then popping their pussy to 'S&M' and 'If U Seek Amy' rolleyes.gif laugh.gif

it's such a good song. i think a lot of gays only hate it because they hold 'into you' in their hearts and it wasn't anywhere near the hit STS was.

I've never really clicked with this one? It's got everything, memorable chorus, great feature and iconic music video and looks to go with it. I used to think it might be the overtly sexual lyrics but I've enjoyed 34+35 since this?

Idk! Perhaps it was just overplayed on the radio, feels like one of the public's fave Ariana songs even if it isn't the fanbase's.
