BuzzJack Music Forum _ UK Charts _ BUY "ELECTRIC" AT MIDNIGHT!
Posted by: SevenSeize 3rd March 2016, 03:20 PM
The UK iTunes chart is about to receive a shock treatment (ha!!!) tonight, as a Buzzjack 10-year anniversary special campaign gets underway
Purchase Lisa Scott-Lee's 2005 hit "Electric" on Friday 4th March (tonight at MIDNIGHT!), and get it as high up the iTunes chart as we possibly can~ who knows, maybe even Capital FM will take notice
And don't forget to stream it on Spotify also! And if you're really dedicated to the cause why not purchase the CD single! http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/B000BCHJ0Q/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&condition=new
For more information on the campaign, here's the Lounge thread: http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?s=&showtopic=187292&view=findpost&p=5332313

To add, if you do not wish to spend, money, you may stream it and/or up to 15 different versions of it on Spotify/Apple Music. Remember you can stream a single version up to 10 times in a day for it to count towards the chart!

*fires up bit torrents*

Will it count if you buy the CD single from a reseller on Amazon? Isn't that like buying it from a charity shop?

By the time I wake up tomorrow morning I expect to see Lukas Graham pushed down to 0.0036 on kworb
Posted by: Vülker 3rd March 2016, 04:01 PM
I'm good to go with my playlists ready to play and repeat 10x a day on Spotify and Apple Music.
Will also get a CD single from one of the online music shops (not resellers) on Amazon.co.uk!
'Electric' for #1.
lol

I guess we'll have someone ready to catch the first viable update on iTunes to see if it had any effect at all?
Just imagine if it freezes for that period of time.

If it makes the top 1000 on the iTunes pop chart, it's already a success.

it's been the chosen song for weeks now! #flopglob
I hope my gift card still works that has £1.50 still left on it. Shame the song isn't 75p on iTunes I'd've bought two copies
Don't suppose I can just leave my iPod on all day to continuously stream all 15 versions repeatedly without it stopping/me needing to it? I'll be using the app. I guess I'll have to change its power settings so it doesn't turn off but just wondering if it stops playing after going through all songs in a playlist? Or do I have to attend to it every 46 minutes

I think it would be very exciting if it made it on the Pop Chart, anything extra is a bonus but we may as well try to get the song as high as we can. Who knows, a significant increase in sales might lead to an OCC report.

If anyone has friends at Popjustice (forum), they'd LOVE this.

I'm pretty sure sales on iTunes must be so low that anything as low as #1000 on the pop chart must have no sales at all and they just use a random generator to make up the numbers?
QUOTE(LushLifeLee @ Mar 3 2016, 04:41 PM)

Popjustice hated her and this song, they spent that entire week ridiculing her. I'm not sure they themselves would get behind it.
Regarding the streaming thing, also is it still the case that they're still not collating Thursday's streaming data? If so, we can only add 0.6 sales by streaming?

It MIGHT be in the top 200s tomorrow and only tomorrow, as lots of people multi-bought on different platforms, and streaming won't be included in tomorrow's mids. But only Minty has them, I suggest lots of people tweet him and ask tomorrow.
Posted by: DanChartFan 5th March 2016, 01:40 AM
I had no idea buzzjack was doing this, so I've already missed one streaming day. I'll try to remember to stream 10 times very day, I just hope the track is reasonably endurable as I've never heard of it. I probably won't buy though as my iTunes hasn't worked for months (holding about £30 to ransom in the process) and my amazon hasn't worked since they changed everything for streaming.

I think one website estimated it to ~40 copies, which seems about right.
If those people who bought it wants to try and get it into the sales chart (which is around ~200 copies) they could always try gifting UK frens with iTunes cards and get them to download Back To You that way, but it's a tall order to basically multipy the sales with 4/5.
Maybe the goal in 2026 could be to get a song into the sales chart. Lord knows the sales will be low enough by then (if the chart still exists!).
Posted by: Bjork 8th March 2021, 08:40 AM
the easiest solution is multi-buying, if instead of buying 1 copy, everybody buys 10, you get 500 sales in a day instead of 50 and then you could grab the iTunes #1 for the day for sure

I think it's hard to convince people to spend more than £0.99 on a song in general. But yes, of course, buying multiple remixes seperately could work (RIP Billiam), though that wouldn't effect its position on the iTunes chart.
