5th May

The Kunts - Stop The Monarchy

"With one month to go until the coronation of King Sausage Fingers the third, me and the Kunts have knocked up a song for the occasion - Scrap The Monarchy - to be released on 05/05/23 (Please put the date in your calendar!)

In an unexpected sequence of events for one of our songs, Scrap The Monarchy contains no expletives so is completely safe to be covered in the press, played on the radio and announced on the BBC Radio 1 chart rundown (bound to happen). As a social experiment to see whether it is the swearwords or the message in our music the media doesn't like, we are releasing the song under the name The Krown Jewels.

"We're going to need all your help and energy to get this campaign up and running. The chart sales are a lot lower than Christmas so if we shift similar numbers to any of the Christmas campaigns there is a good chance we could get to number one! This time we're going nuclear with the streaming playlist so please start thinking about which device(s) you can leave running for a week in a spare room! More details coming soon...

"We want YOU to get involved by writing and recording your own lyrics to Scrap The Monarchy. No previous experience needed!
9 winners will be released on download platforms alongside The Krown Jewels single mix! Closing date is one week today so get cracking!"

No it isn't!

Although it would be a word Radio 1 would censor.

I can definitely see R1 skipping it just for the band's name alone kink.gif

Anyway, looking forward to hearing this - they're a hoot!

Lots of words get censored for radio play that aren't swear words. For example, Wheatus being censored for the line 'he brings a gun to school' so I'm sticking with it just being a pejorative slang term. At worst it's a slur

It looks like they're going under the name 'The Krown Jewels' for this release.

Lyrics:

The coronation seems a good occasion to discuss
Why one family live in palaces, all subsidised by us
While folks rely on foodbanks, and we're supposed to rejoice
As a crown is chauffeured round in a custom made Rolls Royce
It's time for this to stop. Let's give the royals the chop

Scrap the monarchy
Scrap the monarchy
Their pampered lives are vile while people live in poverty
In inhumane conditions
While out of date traditions
Mean we all pay for the royals to live in luxury, so
Scrap the monarchy

King Charles's fingers are so fat, swollen, sore and red
From swans that he gets fed and things he does in bed
He propogates the narrative he's a climate protester
But his best friend was Jimmy Savile, Britain's foremost child molester
And his brother Prince Andrew, he's a noncecase too

Scrap the monarchy
Scrap the monarchy
They turn a blind eye to their paedos like the BBC
They think they can pay
For it all to go away
But covering up for nonces is their lasting legacy, so
Scrap the monarchy

What do they do? What do they do? What do they actually do?
What do they do? What do they do? They sponge off me and you

But what about Prince WIlliam? You're being so unfair
He's never had a mistress, or embarked on an affair
Maybe we have pegged him wrong, he really seems to care
And there's proof. When he does his good deeds, there's always cameras there
Samaritans, Big Issue, the list is comprehensive
Not so much Prince Charming, more Prince Charm Offensive

Scrap the monarchy
Scrap the monarchy
They don't give a hoot about the likes of you and me
Look past their PR
You'll see who they really are
A sinister, callous, entitled ideology, so
Scrap the monarchy
Scrap the monarchy
They stand for racist values and inequality
It's time to have a vote
Then stick them all in a small boat
And let them take their chances in some far flung colony
Scrap the monarchy

There's no way those lyrics are being put out on BBC radio considering they're being slagged off. I'm not sure if any radio station will touch this with a barge pole laugh.gif

I think they’re well aware the song won’t get played on radio lol

and after reading the lyrics it seems I missed the subtle pegging reference in the prince william verse first time around too !!

This has been released…. But it’s on a separate artist page from The Kunts which is a little annoying.
