Madonna‘s first greatest hits set, 1990’s The Immaculate Collection will be reissued on double vinyl in June.
This set has already sold a staggering 30m copies worldwide and contains 17 tracks. At the time, Madonna had released four studio albums (Madonna (1983), Like A Virgin (1984), True Blue (1986) and Like A Prayer (1989)) and had contributed to a few soundtracks including Who’s That Girl and I’m Breathless (the Dick Tracy OST).
As an indication of just how many big hits Madonna had accumulated at this point, there was no place for the Who’s That Girl single or True Blue despite the fact that both songs reached number one in the UK (Pop Quiz: Has any other act left ever left two number ones off their first greatest hits?)
Justify My Love and Rescue Me were the ‘new’ offerings, while many of the 15 other hits were edited remixed variants and not necessarily the single versions (Like A Prayer being a good example).
This double vinyl edition of The Immaculate Collection will be issued by Rhino on 1 June 2018.
Released tomorrow, available on Amazon UK for £25. I probably shouldn't buy this as I'm skint but I'm so tempted!

#62 on the UK midweeks! Not sure what its chances are for remaining Top 100, but it would be the first time since 2008 if it holds on.
Although we wait in vain for Warners to deliver any kind of Madonna deluxe reissues, they are certainly keeping the vinyl coming, since a few days after The Immaculate Collection was reissued as a two-LP set, a new listing has appeared on a couple of retail sites for a white vinyl pressing of Like A Virgin.
Previously, the 1984 album (produced by Nile Rodgers) was available in the UK as a clear vinyl pressing, exclusive to Sainsbury’s supermarket, although in reality it became quite easy to get hold of a copy across Europe and beyond (see the price comparison widget below).
There is no official announcement for this new vinyl edition as yet, but until SDE hears otherwise we will assume this is the standard album (without Into The Groove) pressed on… er, white vinyl. Also, at the time of writing the Amazon UK price can be taken with a big pinch of salt… I fully expect this to come down to something around the £20 mark.
Like A Virgin on white vinyl should be released on 3 July 2018.

The odd thing about Immaculate Collection in the midweeks is that it's showing as having sold 0 downloads and 0 streaming units throughout the week. It is actually available on download & streaming platforms and I find it hard to believe it's only generating physical sales.
I bought the vinyl by the way.

I wonder what is prompting it to do so well again? For a few weeks in the first half of this year, it was Celebration that spent some time within the Top 200 - but now it seems that Immaculate Collection has taken over.
(I still find it very curious that in the week of its re-issue vinyl release, it didn't have any streaming or downloads attached to its sales at all. In recent weeks it does have sales coming from downloads and streaming though... I suppose it must have been an odd mistake).

Erotica & Music are going to be reissued on October 19th - Erotic will be 2xLP on white vinyl, Music 1xLP on blue vinyl.

There isn't much incentive to purchase them if you already own them but I think the point is more to keep them in stock and changing the vinyl colour and coinciding with the tour is just a way to do that.
I want to start a Madonna vinyl collection but I'd rather wait for a reissue with added extras given I already own her albums on CD. We'll see what materialises from this Like a Prayer re-issue.

Confessions is indeed hot pink! Ray of Light is just black though! There are blue versions and clear versions of it that are available online, but I don't mind it in black tbh (cheaper than getting a colour version copy from eBay ).

I did recall seeing a blue vinyl for Ray of Light but was most unsure about Confessions colour. Bet it looks glorious!
I was looking at the vinyl tracking lists and each side seems really considered, like the opening track for each side makes senses and the groups of tracks work really well together.

I wonder if they ever release a package/box with all albums on vinyl. Many artists have this kind collection (old and new, Rihanna for instance), it would be awesome to get one (they have released CD box, so why not vinyl). I know it would cost a fortune but I would really get one for sure

I hope that a few of her albums are eventually reissued. As far as I can tell, Bedtime Stories / Hard Candy / MDNA & Rebel Heart are the ones that are currently out of print. Her other studio albums are currently easy to get in the UK.

No problems with Like a Virgin, it looks great It's the 2019 clear reissue, it was only £14.67.
True Blue is the black vinyl pressing from some time in the 2010s (Discogs members can't seem to agree whether it's from 2012 or 2016, weirdly). I'm so disappointed in it! It came unsealed, the inner sleeve was creased, and the vinyl itself has lots of little scratches. I'm sure it was owned by someone else and was sent back to Amazon, who then resold it as new. I complained to Amazon about it and they actually gave me a full refund, which was surprising, so at least I now have it for free! (I originally paid £13.53 for it). It's not a very good pressing tbh. The front cover is so blurry looking, and the colours appear washed out. At some point I'll buy a 2019 clear vinyl copy (it seems like the cover of that looks great). It's nearly £20 on Amazon though, that's why I decided to go with the cheaper version in the first place.
Amazon accidentally sent me two copies of Music, I only paid for one! (£16.12 for one copy). It's a recent repressing because it has the new Warner Brothers logo on the back cover. The top of one of them had quite a bad seam split at the top. Thankfully the other copy only had a very minimal split, so I'm keeping that one. I'm not sure if it's worth trying to sell the spare given its condition. Tbh I wasn't hugely impressed with the look of this pressing... the front cover is clearly a scan - the image isn't very sharp looking (image noise / blocky). It's passable though, and it looks better at a slight distance! I wish I had been able to get an original copy, it seems that it's only very recently been replaced with this repressing. I assume the original would have better quality artwork
I'm not sure what the sound quality of them is like yet, I've not got around to playing them!

I can only vouch for the clear, but I think it looks nice! When it comes to the artwork, in my opinion the image looks like it's good quality. The Discogs page for the white version seems to suggest that the artwork looks just as good, so I guess it boils down to which colour you think suits the album more?
I have Robyn's Body Talk album on white; this might sound random but I found it quite difficult to see the grooves to know where to place the needle down, in comparison to other colours
Another thing to note about Like a Virgin is that the back cover is upside down, but that's intentional and reflects the original release!

I only noticed today that my copy of Music also has a slightly altered front cover logo, to reflect the renamed record label. Instead of it saying "Maverick / Warner Bros.", it now simply says "Maverick / Warner":
Obviously it's a very minor change, but I still wish I had an original version instead. If life was normal right now and HMV was open, I'd visit to see whether they had an original copy and check whether the artwork was better quality, but alas...!
Hopefully this shows more clearly what I mentioned in my previous post:
It's hard to describe it but it's like there's faint squares visible on the artwork. Is anyone able to verify whether or not their older copies of Music have that sort of appearance to it?

My clear edition of True Blue and the red edition of You Can Dance turned up today... I have to say both are great, the clear vinyl works okay for True Blue despite my initial misgivings and the vinyl itself seems very good quality, it's really weighty which is a good sign. The red version of You Can Dance is just lovely though, exactly the right shade for the cover and has the same 'sire' labels that her albums used to have in the 80s - plus it has a big fold out poster which feels very apt!

I really like that, whilst it is strictly a limited edition, there's like 12000 or something so that fans can get one reasonably easily without having to pay a fortune from people who buy it all out just to sell on at a profit.

Do you think will there be a complete collection of her vinyl in future? I mean something like Rihanna, Janet, Queen and many other legends (ok Rihanna is not in that league yet). But still, I am a bit pesimistic about buying all albums one by one when there's a chance to have all in one box (actually she did it already once, but on CDs)

Finally got myself a copy of American Life and Bedtime Stories
I think that completes all the albums I'd have liked to get now, I'll live without Like a Virgin, Who's That Girl, Evita, Hard Candy, MDNA and Rebel Heart.

i dont play the vinyls most are in original wrapping and still sealed , prob from 2000 onwards !

Whilst I wish it had better mastering (a lot of the mid 90s RnB sounding albums sound amazing where as this just sounds good), I really enjoyed listening to it when mine arrived - it's better than I thought and actually sets quite a nice vibe.

I know right <3 so happy I managed to find one on eBay! I would definitely love to expand it a bit more - 'The Immaculate Collection' and 'Music' are the next ones I'll look into I think *.* the former covering the early base quite well and the latter completing my trio of favourite Madonna studio albums!

I wish I could go back to the 80s in a time machine and buy fresh copies of True Blue and Like a Prayer The copies I own, which are seemingly 2012 reissues, are pretty poor quality... dull/faded colours and lacking detail. Those two, along with Music (a 2020 reissue), are the Madonna vinyl albums I own that I'm least satisfied with. I feel like way more care could have gone into these reissues.

The pink Confessions vinyl is one of my favourite purchases - it's sublime and the perfect aesthetics for the era. Glad you got it Jade (you now have her two best albums imo!).

Two more great choices! 'Music' is a great mix of sounds that album producer Mirwais links together perfectly, whilst 'The Immaculate Collection' speaks for itself!

I'm hoping we can get proper vinyl reissues at one point (with bonus material would be even better). I keep reading on other sites something about it taking 35 years for an artist to own the publishing rights to music? I can't remember the exact phrasing. Certainly when the biopic is released, that would be a great time to start properly reissuing albums.

I wonder if I'm alone in preferring the True Blue cover to have 'MADONNA True Blue' placed at the top of the cover? That's another reason why I'd like to own an original 80s UK copy of the album.

Agreed about 'Madame X', it took a long time to get used to the name across the eyebrows, but I don't think it's necessary to be there at all. I think 'Madame X' sewn into her lips is strong enough as an image and it's what Madonna referred to herself as during the era too.
I don't like the title font or colour on 'Bedtime Stories', it doesn't blend well with the album cover and I like that pose on its own (the upside down cover all the way!).

The name across the eyebrows gets worse every time I see it. It would have been so striking without it, and just Madame X across the lips. It's a great image, but the letters across her eyebrow just cheap the entire thing for me. Looks even worse in full vinyl glory

Hmm I'm not too enthused by this, but I'm glad for Madonna fans that they're getting a properly new release this time, rather than a replica of old releases!

Yeah I'm not fussed either. I think the only interesting RSD release was 'You Can Dance' being released on vinyl a few years back for the first time since its release.
At least we have the Warner vinyl reissues to look forward to!

Ray of Light is just black though! There are blue versions and clear versions of it that are available online, but I don't mind it in black tbh (cheaper than getting a colour version copy from eBay

), also noticed they had the Madame X CD for £1.52 
(£16.12 for one copy). It's a recent repressing because it has the new Warner Brothers logo on the back cover. The top of one of them had quite a bad seam split at the top. Thankfully the other copy only had a very minimal split, so I'm keeping that one. I'm not sure if it's worth trying to sell the spare given its condition. Tbh I wasn't hugely impressed with the look of this pressing... the front cover is clearly a scan - the image isn't very sharp looking (image noise / blocky). It's passable though, and it looks better at a slight distance! I wish I had been able to get an original copy, it seems that it's only very recently been replaced with this repressing. I assume the original would have better quality artwork
If life was normal right now and HMV was open, I'd visit to see whether they had an original copy and check whether the artwork was better quality, but alas...!
