Hey Dr B, of that first half, there are just the three which I've not enjoyed enough to at least be on regular rotation.

My favourite is of course Doomscroller wub.gif Great to see that here, and Widow, BOTA, I Saw and Levitation were all massive hits for me too and be in our top 40. I did like that Charlotte and Bolis song, however much preferred the Soulwax remix of it, 'Cliché'

Ooh I'm sorry I missed that live recording, that sounds like a great idea! I can certainly appreciate this chart though! Particularly pleased to see Sudan Archives in the top 10 as I've not seen a lot of discussion for her on here and it's a really cool song with an interesting structure. Baby We're Ascending (I did not know Jon Hopkins was involved in that! Makes it even better), Billions & Protection from Evil are also great. as are Widow and Doomscroller further down!

Far too many songs to leave a fully comprehensive comment but safe to say it'd be quicker to name the songs I know that I'm not also a fan of magic.gif

'I Love You' is a fantastic #1, very tough to choose between that and 'Jackie Down The Line' for my favourite single from their album, I think the latter is more of an earworm / 'easy listen' while the former is a bit more hard hitting so kind of depends on mood.

'Billions' and 'Chaos Energy' are also excellent top 5 picks, 'New Romance' is great too but not quite up with my biggest standouts from 'Once Twice Melody', can't really go wrong with nearly any pick from that album though (but 'Superstar', 'Masquerade' and 'Hurts To Love' are the holy trinity for me). Louis Cole is my only blind spot in your top 10 so I will try and remember to get around to giving that a listen some time if it's ranked this highly against all these other great songs. KH, HAAi and Ibibio Sound Machine all fab too from the top 10.

I know it was in your chart before I sent it so I can't claim credit but it's cool to see 'COMATOSE' so high as well! And further Persephonia talent further down with 'born yesterday' being another great song from Quadeca <3

My other biggest faves from 11-40 are Bicep, Nilüfer Yanya (was a huge grower after finding it merely good on first listen), Shygirl, Metric, Jockstrap, Kai Whiston, Young Fathers' 'I Saw' (wasn't really into 'Geronimo' on first listen so maybe need to revisit as this one was great), Fred again.., Denzel Curry, PPJ and Daniel Avery's 'Higher' which is my favourite song to date from him, absolutely mind melting (I stiiiill need to hear his album but I will get to it very soon x). I'll stop there lest this post go on for years.

Is it possible to relisten to that radio broadcast? Sounds like it'd be a quality couple of hours x

I've listened through halfway (including 10 minutes of Doomscroller drama.gif ty to the radio host for waking me up after that x)

Here's some random blabble from yours truly

Levitation - I haven't heard anything else from their new era other than "Happy New Year". This is sounding a lot better than that on first listen wub.gif

Higher - LOVE this, but oddly it's the only single from the era to miss the top 5 on my chart. In fact it only peaked at #24 (50-26-47-48-29-24-33-42-xx)! Madness I know. Oops!

Lessons - always enjoyed this garage banger when it came on queue while listening to Altar.

BOTA - justice for GOOD UNDERGROUND DANCE MUSIC. The defining song of 2022.

Dar Um - 💃💃💃 I underrated this one a bit in BJSC. Enjoying it a lot more now. So joyous. It was great to see make the Multichart as well

Lights Out - that build-up and final breakdown

Tell Me Your Politik - this is great although it didn't really fit the vibe of my daily playlist. I can really appreciate Nakhane's artistry though and for not selling out to the samey amapiano music many other South African artists have been obliged to make.

So Typically Now - the descriptions this got during BJSC made me LOL, "Twenty One Pilots meets Kylie" (I'm a fan though)

Ceci n’est pas un cliché - This album I was super late to discovering but undoubtedly one of the year's best. So groovy, authentic and fresh. Worthy of all the acclaim.

Between Lures - I wish I discovered this sooner. Although I'm following Kai's releases religiously now. So many great instruments and elements going on yet they work together so seamlessly wub.gif

Widow - Jade payola? kink.gif

50/50 - bonkers bop. It was great to see something as "out there" as this do decently in BJSC

Mass Belief - this was a fantastic discovery from your chart. I recall it doing pretty well on mine too. A fabulous piece of dreamy breakbeat. It also transitioned surprisingly well into "Firefly"

Firefly - UGH. I will never tire of this masterpiece. Still to be revealed in my EOY. Which means it's somewhere between 1 and 9.

Tom Vek - first time hearing this actually! Enjoyed it A LOT! And added to my playlist. Working Men's Club vibes. The production is immaculate.

I'll be listening to the rest soon. Loving this concept Doctor Blind!

^ I thought 'Levitation' was actually one of the weaker songs on the Let's Eat Grandma album while 'Happy New Year' was one of the best so maybe our tastes just aren't that aligned on them but I would recommend checking out 'Hall Of Mirrors' too if you've not heard that one, it was my favourite song of 2021 wub.gif

Hello! Sorry it's such a short list, there's just so much I haven't heard.

#037 Eliza Rose & Interplanetary Criminal “B.O.T.A. (Baddest Of Them All)”

Outside your top 40.

47 Jessie Ware - Free Yourself - Peak - 3. 11 Wks. Debut: 24.07.22
59 Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Wolf - Peak - 2. 9 Wks. Debut: 30.10.22
93 Beyoncé - Break My Soul - Peak - 8. 10 Wks. Debut: 17.07.22

BOTA wasn't something I immediately expected to like and I didn't to be honest. But by the end I found it to be such a bop and I'm glad it broke through into the official chart and did well.

Free yourself is alright. I've heard better from her but it was nice to get something from her this year.
Wolf is fantastic. This is my first time heating a yeah yeah yeahs song with this single a couple weeks ago. The album is pretty decent as well.
Break my soul should have been the comeback of the decade but it's been such a squandered mess much like Adele's album!

Aww I finally found time to listen to the other half but it appears the radio show has now been taken down cry.gif

#020 Eden Samara “Madonna”
The production is quite innovative on this one. I love how it takes unexpected turns throughout and the shade of feminism in the lyrics is great. Her voice isn't really connecting with me though but I've given her a follow on Spotify

#019 Haich Ber Na “Now We’re Strangers”
First time hearing this. Fantastic stuff. The vocodered bridge *.*

#018 Fontaines D.C. “Jackie Down The Line”
I live under a rock and only gave this a listen after Grian Chatten's Leftfield feature. It was a lot better than I was expecting. I'll be keeping a keen eye out for their future releases.

#017 Gabe Gurnsey “Push”
This was a fabulous Buzzjack discovery. So punchy and immaculately produced. I was surprised it never got sent to BJSC but I guess the timing is too late now with several of us having already played it to death laugh.gif

#016 HVOB “Bruise”
A #1 on my chart as well. Incredible song wub.gif I thought it would have done a lot better in BJSC. Also a shame the album didn't have anything else of the same high quality.

#015 Nilüfer Yanya “midnight sun”
I underrated this a lot at the time. I love her voice and the rich guitar sounds

#014 Yves Tumor “Secrecy Is Incredibly Important to the Both of Them”
I've been sleeping on them it seems. This is another tune!

#013 Bicep “Meli (II)”

#011 ill peach “COMATOSE”
Gigantic banger! I've been loving their latest single 'HOLD ON' released this week.

#010 Ibibio Sound Machine “Protection From Evil”
This smashing in BJSC and going top 40 on the Multichart felt like a fever dream

#009 HAAi & Jon Hopkins “Baby, We’re Ascending”
Yay at this making your top 10! My fave from the album, narrowly missed my EOY top 10

#007 KH “Looking At Your Pager”
Nice to see this so high for you! I love how bonkers it is. I think it connected with you after you heard it live, if I recall correctly? thinking.gif

#004 Daniel Avery “Chaos Energy”

[2]

#003 Caroline Polachek “Billions”
Outstanding. Her vocal acrobatics on this, Mariah could never.

I also love pretty much every track is the 41-100 section. Great to see Vitesse X in there and Lolahol just outside the top 100. Fabulous Doctor Blind! Looking forward to following your chart this year heart.gif
