Good lorde, what a mess in the singles chart. drama.gif one good thing, it clears out the deadwood, but the deadwood will return.

This will be the deadwood, for months on end.

tbh it's a given some deadwood will remain, it's more of a case of all the Stormzy tracks plummeting out biggrin.gif (except for BFYB & possibly Cold)

I think it's ridiculous all the tracks from Eds album will chart this week. They haven't been released as singles; they are stand alone album tracks most of them. It just gives a disproportionate effect on the singles chart and clutters up the charts.

Wow at the sales for Ed Sheeran, should easily get double platinum on its first week. Its great to once again see some great sales. After just 1 week of sales, divide will be already a hugely successful album, what he sells in a week many many others would crave for the whole campaign of an album. Ed should easily make it three consecutive albums selling 2 million plus, X should get past 3 million very soon too.

I think he is doing great and being lucky with the streams added, finally.

That's more than what a regular NOW album would sell in a whole week. Second only to Adele who sold 313k in a day but bare in mind that her album was released near Christmas whereas this album wasn't

25 would have still sold over 300k in its first day had it been released in Quarter 1.

This is very true and in all fairness the album not being added to streaming sites kinda balances out the Q4 vs. Q1 battle against Ed, tbh.

Agree totally even though I like Ed and have bought the CD. Just as if he has 16 singles out at once like the Elvis and Beatles re-issues. rolleyes.gif

There are 3 versions of Shape of You in the Top 15. God help us all come Friday.

(could this dethrone Bryan Adams to become the longest running number 1 of all time?)

I don't think so, another Ed Sheeran track (most likely 'Galway Girl') will probably replace it soon enough.

Ed will probably set some sort of record for most consecutive weeks spent at #1 as an artist though.

oh m'lawwd drama.gif

don't think i'll bother listening to the chart show this week then especially as they have to play the whole top ten.

I didn't even stan Avicii as much as the UK are currently stanning Ed, and he had 8/10 tracks in my personal top ten both times he released an album laugh.gif

UM, it's not the SINGLES chart anymore, just a download of tracks chart...... and sadly most of those this week will be album tracks.

RIP the SINGLES chart. Luckily this has happened only recently, I can imagine in 1994/5/6/7 that Oasis would have had the whole top 40!
