Welcome to the semi finals of BJSC 93! Your entry has been randomly placed in one of the semi-finals below.

You must vote using the 12-point system (12/10/8/7/6/5/4/3/2/1). You may only vote in the semi-final your song is in. You may not vote for your own entry.

The deadline for voting is 18/03/17, 23:59 GMT. Late votes will be accepted up until 16:00 the next day, but any late voters will suffer a 15% deduction. Any non-voters will suffer a 33% deduction.

I count at least 11 songs in semi 1 that sounded like instant favourites from the clips on plug, looks like the stronger semi here by far I think! Only like 4 or 5 in my own semi (plus the autoqualifier) that were on the same level. Of course cannot judge these songs based on just the clips (not least my own song lmao!!1) but definitely more hyped to hear the other semi than my own at the moment. Semi 2 still sounded potentially pretty good.

Listened to about two thirds of the first semi final this morning (the ones that were on Spotify anyway). Mixed bag for me, but some good tracks. Everyone seems to think the first semi is incredibly strong from the reveal thread, so still cautious over a Bhangra qualification!

I have a feeling Ryder is going to miss out for the third time Semi 1 looks really strong, listened to the first half already, some crackers in there, its going to be hard to wittle them down to 10 tracks. I just hope Ubu gets through

Same as Harry really, I should be able to make both nights so I'm not massively fussed about which way the majority swings - but I am more eager to hear semi 1. Not only because it's my semi, but also it sounded like it would have more highlights from the previews on plug the other night. So yeah I would be on board with semi 1 tonight!

Just voted. Had the songs as my gym playlist for the past couple of days. Bloody hell. Absolutely horrendous. I must be on a different planet to everyone who thinks the first semi final was strong - there were genuinely three songs I actually liked. Mind you, the last time I said that I went crashing out in the semi final, so I'm fully prepared for the worst!

Semi 1 was a bit disappointing actually, I loved most of the songs I expected to but there wasn't much else that was more than decent. (lots of my favourites are probably at risk of DNQing as well oops)

first runthrough I got it down to 13 fairly easily semi 1, it's usually in the 20-25 ballpark. oops!

Sounds like the points are going to be very spread out and every point will count to qualify

Thank you! I know what you mean with what your "usual thing" would be as well. One of the main reasons I came back to BJSC was because I was pretty sick and tired of the UK charts and the dirge that they recycle week after week, and this is a good way to discover new music from a wide range of genres. From the past few contests, songs from KREAM, Grouplove, MUNA, Gareth Emery and Tone Damli in particular have stuck with me, and I'll listen to them for a while yet!

Poor Pupok ended up with some the most mehs. The production on Curry is actually pretty good funky house in the chorus even if the vocal could do with being a little less loud in places in the song. Would have wooped it anyway if I was there.

Semi 2 has nowhere near as many big highlights as semi 1 but far more songs that I feel are worth points (any of my top 18 could end up in my top 10 still, just so many songs that feel like 3 or 4 pointers or so). Fljótavík, Land of DW and Séyetana were the main standouts here, gonna be beyond gutted if they all end up DNQing like Dan predicted... (not that any of them sound like super safe qualifiers, although I'd really hope Land of DW will be at least, stunning Icelandic vocals + spookiness = fave).

I feel like my 18 could end up going to any of about 4 or 5 songs (a couple of which could DNQ and make my choice a bit easier, but still) which is unusually wide open for me. Exciting ~

Was surprised to not get any mehs and 10 woots is pretty great ofc! I'm not too confident of qualifying anyway though, as I expect a good few of those woots may have been 'this is pleasant enough to woot but not a favourite'.

It's not 'because it represents Spotify', just that it has the kind of basic pleasant background listening sound found in many Spotify playlist songs. x

(I didn't meh it btw lol)
