Mercedes look set to enter Formula E in the 2018/19 season.

Posted by: Silas 6th October 2016, 09:57 PM

They're not the only ones!

Renault have been involved for so long the first years cars all had their name on the chassis. They put in a bid to supply batteries from S5 onwards. Porsche were tendering for the battery deal, believed as a forerunner for a team. - the deal went to McLaren of F1 and Road car fame - Jaguar are now on board, Audi have a 'team', DS (Citroën's 'luxury' sub-brand) had a team, BMW have partnered with Andretti also believed to be a forerunner for a team, Volvo & Nissan & Honda are rumoured to be sniffing around and India's Mahindra have a team.

It's been a massive draw for Manufacturers in a way F1 hasn't for a long time.

Did anyone see the race? it was quite a good race to be honest.

Posted by: Cabaye 19th February 2017, 04:29 PM

Why doesn't anyone watch this?

It's a thrilling sport.

Posted by: Mack 19th February 2017, 05:25 PM

Obviously because of scheduling really.

Watched it, it was a OK race.

Posted by: Cabaye 19th February 2017, 08:26 PM

426k people watched this on Channel 5 last night.

Posted by: Mack 3rd March 2017, 07:34 PM

That's not great on prime time. Needs to be spiced up a bit this. The novelty of this has worn off.

Posted by: Cabaye 31st March 2017, 09:56 PM

Mexico race tomorrow on Channel 5.

Posted by: Cabaye 2nd April 2017, 05:30 PM

Much better race in Mexico. A real thriller. Full of drama.

Posted by: Mack 3rd April 2017, 07:55 AM

Indeed quite a race in Mexico. A good victory for Lucas di Grassi, the gamble paid off.

Posted by: Mack 15th May 2017, 12:03 PM

An solid race in Monaco it was. Buemi and Di Grassi once again battling for the win.

Posted by: Dobbo 15th May 2017, 04:10 PM

I saw highlights of the Monaco race for this.

Posted by: TroyTempest 16th May 2017, 04:46 PM

Paris on Saturday. Still a grower for me.

Posted by: Mack 22nd May 2017, 12:31 PM

It was quite a good race, Paris was. Still would be good to see one car being used for the whole of the race.

Posted by: Silas 29th May 2017, 07:56 PM

That will be from Season 5 according to the series roadmap! happy.gif

Posted by: Mack 1st June 2017, 10:26 PM

Cool. I'll be looking forward to it. I think the calendar should be just for the year e.g. 2017 only not 3 month gap before the next race.

Posted by: Silas 10th June 2017, 06:20 PM

Renault e.Dams have signed up Buemi and Prost for Season 4 and 5! (In the process revealing they're also working on their S5 car already)

Posted by: Silas 11th June 2017, 07:02 PM

Watched the second Berlin race today the whole way through. Actually quite enjoyable!

Posted by: Mack 12th June 2017, 12:38 PM

Another exciting race to watch in Berlin been a good weekend of racing there. Harsh on Rosenqvist to be penalised for that 10 second penalty.

Posted by: Silas 12th June 2017, 12:58 PM

I'm not so sure. That was a hideously unsafe release.

Posted by: Mack 2nd July 2017, 05:19 PM

It is good, other half watches it just as much as F1. The speed those cars can actually reach despite being all electric is rather impressive.

Posted by: Mack 29th July 2017, 09:54 PM

Buemi lucky to escape any sanctions it appears following an unsafe pit release.

Did anyone see his rant at Da Costa, Frijins and Art? He mistook Da Costa for Frijins.

Dramatic race.

Finale tomorrow live on Spike not Channel 5 who are showing.... Dirty Dancing.

OK. This isn't me being an arse but I genuinely would like someone to tell me why this is worth watching.

Firstly some context -

I watch F1 - It has has the top 6 drivers in the world and is the pinnacle of motor racing technology.

I watch Indycar - It is the 2nd tier of open wheel racing and is (by far) more exciting and competitive than F1 and has the most varied circuit types of any series worth talking about.

By the time I have spent my rare precious free sundays keeping up with them why should I watch Formula E?

On the face of it I see a bunch of drivers, not cut out to be back markers in F1, not good enough for the Indy circuit and son to be surpassed by the latest Formula Ford star. After the intriguing prospect of the technology is the racing actually any good?

Posted by: Bairlas 30th July 2017, 07:24 AM

There can be quite a few overtakes and some good drama. The field is fairly even at the moment too

However the FIA are up to their usual tricks and seem determined to make Di Grassi champion this year

Posted by: Bairlas 31st July 2017, 07:14 AM

Renault e.dams go 3 for 3 in the Constructors championship but the FIA finally get the Di Grassi World Champ they've been after.

Posted by: Mack 1st August 2017, 07:08 PM

Viewing figures haven't been great at all regarding coverage on Channel 5.

Posted by: 5 Silas Frøkner 25th October 2017, 09:00 PM

Renault are pulling out at the end of season 4. Alliance partner Nissan will be taking their place.
