I'm not surprised at all, although the timing is a little odd. After giving him their unanimous backing then getting arguably one of their best results of the season now they pull the trigger?

The positive thing is Ranieri still comes out of this a hero & the club go from most people's second team last season to now one of their most hated!

I was shocked to find out that Claudio Ranieri has been sacked by Leicester, it's definitely the wrong decision that has been made and it shows how ungrateful football owners can be. I thought that Leicester would turn things around if they kept Ranieri but now that they've gotten rid of him they are screwed, they will never have a manager as good as him ever again.

I better change my prediction for the match against Liverpool on Monday because they wont pick up any points from that match now!

Dunno, about the latter. A few journos have mentioned that he had completely lost some of the senior players.. probably a bit like Hazard/Costa last season at Chelsea.

I really like Ranieri, I always have. Feel a bit sorry for him, but he was definitely going down with Leicester, no doubt about that.

That's the second year in a row that the league winning manager has been sacked during the title defence. I'm in shock. If it's the players again then that's a complete farce

If Ranieri hadn't won the title for Leicester City, there's no doubt that he would have been sacked by now. Where do you stand regarding Ranieri? I blame the players myself but he has to make changes.

I still blame the players.

How ungrateful are the owners to sack the manager who produced their greatest ever achievement in their history and one of the biggest upsets in sporting history. It was uip there with the greatest stories of English football.

Again it was inevitable really.

He should have a statue at Leicester City. He'll probably retire now.

With or without Ranieri, Leicester are going down.

I hope Leicester get relegated now to teach the players and the board a lesson.

It's easy to see why he was sacked, they were sleepwalking to certain relegation and he'd gone from one of the game's greatest ever over-performances to exceptional under-performance. Leicester winning the Premier League pushed them up a level, they have one of the top 20 wage bills in world football and revenue is only just outside. They shouldn't be competing with promoted sides and basket cases. To think they could continue like last season is unrealistic, but there's no reason why being with the West Ham's and West Brom's of the league shouldn't be an easily achievable target. Their signings have almost all been utterly shite and still having two slow 30-something lumps at centre half every match is gross negligence.

It's easy to say sack the players, but that's not how football, or any team sport, works. Even if you wanted to sack players, rules dictate that you can't replace them.

I thought at the time that maybe he should've retired on a high, easy to see why he wouldn't want to and give the Champions League a crack, but it's a massive shame it ended so badly. But past performance is no indicator of future performance, and given how they've played throughout the season maybe he's already had the extension that sentiment should bring?

I think the only thing that would have saved him from being sacked at the end of the season was winning the Champions League.

He probably should have retired after winning the title, Ranieri.

I expected at the start of the season to completing with the likes of Stoke, West Brom, Southampton and West Brom just above the Top10. I would have taken 7th + 8th as a good season for Leicester City.

How is Huth still playing for Leicester?

Said it earlier, but Bournemouth could be in with a real fight on their hands to stay up. Guess we will see who Leicester appoint. Going to be some battle down there. Sunderland still look capable of picking points up, Boro can't score goals, Hull look a lot better, Swansea are playing some good stuff and Palace got their first home win in ages today.

I hope it goes down to the final day of the season.

Now they finally decide to show up after turning their backs on Ranieri. Those players should be ashamed of themselves!

Well I'm not gonna complain about who they've finally turned up against!

Literally the same as Chelsea last season too, game after they sack the manager they're up 3-0.

Ranieri must be seething after that result against Liverpool. He'll be wondering why they didn't play like that this season. Could be a one-off e.g. their result against Man City earlier in the season.

I'm inclined to agree with y'all that these f***ers be snakes. If they have been doing what the Chelsea players did then that's a disgrace and if I was a Leicester fan I'd be heavy disgusted with them

Absolutely truly terrible and stinky show by Liverpool yesterday. Always seems to happen to us when they sack the manager! Despite the PR noise, you can definitely tell the players were not playing for Ranieri (similar to Chelsea last season). Sucks a little, but also, if you remember Liverpool played exactly like Man City earlier in the season at the King Power.

Still, hoping Leicester go down. Not least because the King Power is becoming one of my least favourite aways biggrin.gif sad.gif

Sickening act of thuggish behaviour from Tyrone Mings stamping on Zlatan's head!

Both players should have been off. Stamp was awful, but Ibra should not have retaliated like that.
