Her new single is Named 'Hurts' and it's out September 16th. Apparently it's "an explosion of everything she's wanted to say for years and she's not holding back on it". Excitement biggrin.gif

Hope she follows the Ed Sheeran path really... 'Sing' was the perfect riposte to those who only really knew his ballads and I think Emeli Sande could be very successful doing something similar.

Of course, she's released Heaven and Next To Me and collaborated with the likes of Naughty Boy, Professor Green and Wretch 32 before but I'd love her to push that side of her more. Probably wouldn't sell as many albums, so its a no-go. laugh.gif

Her 'Rolling In The Deep' moment coming ohmy.gif??? Sounds intriguing anyway, I am actually quite excited to see what she comes up with.

After such over-exposure in 2012 it does feel like a hell of a long time since she's been around. Could go either way for her I think.

Posted by: leewallace Sep 6 2016, 02:50 PM

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Posted by: James1987 Sep 6 2016, 06:31 PM

Cannot wait smile.gif I just hope its not a massive let down!!

Posted by: Liаm Sep 6 2016, 06:54 PM

I'm looking forward to this, I loved her debut despite the overexposure. I don't think something like Sing would work for her but I agree with MLHammer, she could do with something a bit bigger and bolder that people don't expect. I mean even just something like Rolling In The Deep would be good, I know Next To Me was kind of that but it was like the softer version.

Posted by: Jonjo Sep 6 2016, 07:02 PM

Her debut wasn't too bad, iirc. It was just over exposure that completely killed her off for me. VERY same thing with Sam Smith (his album was better than I thought it'd be, too)

This sounds quite promising from that clip.

Posted by: Steve201 Sep 7 2016, 11:14 PM

I always imagined she would flop with a return cos it's been so long but we shall see!

Snippet #2 can be heard here.

This is sounding incredibly promising so far, sounds very big and cinematic. I'm actually excited now dance.gif

Now that instrumental sounds like exactly what I want from her and exactly what she needs *.*

anal anthem

You need to step up your bottom game!

Posted by: slowdown73 Sep 9 2016, 11:05 PM

Can't wait to hear this. Loved her first album. A true star.

Posted by: Davidson Sep 15 2016, 04:38 PM

Premiering at 7am apparently.

I have a good feeling about this, think she's gonna surprise everyone and really bring it with something great.

What's up with these morning releases? I'm up until two tonight - I'd like to actually have something to listen to while I'm in the car ffs. It's 7 hours worth of valuable sales lost.

Posted by: Rob S Sep 15 2016, 06:48 PM

Emeli is tomorrow's live lounge guest. Performing the song straight away so definitely going to do well tomorrow. Maybe #1 for a bit?

I just hope it's impressive as she's been away so long that you just don't know if she'll quite have the same success as her first era!

I doubt it's a valuable 7 hours kink.gif most people will be in bed! heehee.gif Hasn't harmed anyone in the past!

Posted by: Wizard's Sleeve Sep 15 2016, 07:23 PM

Gotta get those insomniac sales!

Posted by: JosephStyles Sep 15 2016, 07:25 PM

I guess some would argue Emeli is the cure for insomnia basil.gif

Posted by: mdh Sep 15 2016, 07:27 PM

I suppose so, but I recall The Tide going top 40 in like an hour based on fanbase buys, so it has to equate for something? Or was Click My Fingers up for pre-order (you should know this Joseph ;o)

Posted by: Liаm Sep 15 2016, 07:29 PM

Lots of bigger artists do the sameas Emeli is, they have a proper premiere instead of chucking it on iTunes, and it still works laugh.gif She's hardly going to bomb because she's lost 7 hours of sales.

Posted by: mdh Sep 15 2016, 07:31 PM

Yeah I do suppose I'm sawing my arm off with a blunt stone here, just salty it's not out at midnight :,) I'm sure it'll debut top 20 either way.

Click My Fingers did have a pre-order I think but The Tide are pretty much entirely reliant on their fanbase right now, so they all bought it instantly, and would have done so even if it got released 7 hours later so the time of release didn't really matter for that!

Posted by: Ultraviolence1989 Sep 16 2016, 06:41 AM

This is absolutely incredible. After a few more listens I can see this being her best since Heaven ohmy.gif

Posted by: Bjork Sep 16 2016, 06:58 AM

very strong indeed, impressive on 1st listen

Posted by: ML Hammer95 Sep 16 2016, 07:08 AM

This is very impressive! Her 'Sing' moment like I predicted.

Posted by: Liаm Sep 16 2016, 07:28 AM

This is INCREDIBLE!! Oh my lord. It's exactly what she needed to change it up a bit but it still feels very her, it's not too much of a jump into a sound that's implausible or forced. I love how cinematic and anthemic it is. This will surely be huge?

Posted by: cqmerqn Sep 16 2016, 07:37 AM

Future #1?

Posted by: Cameron Sep 16 2016, 08:13 AM

Incredible! I am down for sassy Emeli this era pls

Posted by: danG Sep 16 2016, 08:18 AM

This is really good! Exactly what she needed for her comeback really, sounds like a hit. Very anthemic-sounding (love the orchestral/choir parts) and perfect for X Factor season (performance incoming surely?)

Posted by: Mart!n Sep 16 2016, 08:27 AM

This is really good on first listen, a British #1 is well needed and a female act at #1 biggrin.gif

Posted by: Jack Sep 16 2016, 08:52 AM

Absolutely stunning, exactly what I wanted from her. Hoping this can be the hit she needs but I don't really trust the public in letting it become one.

Posted by: jakewild Sep 16 2016, 08:58 AM

now this is exactly what gags shoulda come back with

instant and addictive

Posted by: gooddelta Sep 16 2016, 09:02 AM

It's strong and has a good hook! I'm glad she hasn't returned with a piano ballad sound she eventually became renowned for and that it's more on the Heaven side of things.

Posted by: Davidson Sep 16 2016, 09:35 AM

I knew I had a good feeling about this for a reason.

Already her best after 'Heaven' for me.

Posted by: HarryEzra Sep 16 2016, 09:39 AM

Pretty good on listen one but hey only on listen one I can see it growing for sure!

Posted by: PeaceMob Sep 16 2016, 10:21 AM

Such an epic and glorious song, love it.

Posted by: Jonjo Sep 16 2016, 10:41 AM

Wonderful! So big and cinematic. It's different enough, without it being too different for her! Impressed wub.gif

Posted by: jakewild Sep 16 2016, 11:03 AM

she's just performed it in the live lounge and i actually forgot it was live for a sec 😱

Posted by: JosephStyles Sep 16 2016, 01:28 PM

I am loving this more and more with each listen, I was a fan of the last album anyway but this is really spectacular and has me very excited for album 2!

Posted by: Scene Sep 16 2016, 01:42 PM

Emeli! *.* Her and Alicia have really surprised me this year!! 'Hurts' is what Emeli needed to come back big imo. It's still very much her sound but more of a progression rather than trying to recapture the magic of OVOE.

It's like an antidote to My Kind of Love.

Posted by: Wizard's Sleeve Sep 16 2016, 01:48 PM

Yah this is like Well Well Well. Not exciting at all.

Posted by: Regina Sep 16 2016, 02:20 PM

In what universe?

Posted by: Davidson Sep 16 2016, 02:30 PM

I'm glad to see some of the hate be somewhat quietened by this release.

Sure, she was overexposed back in 2012 but that was 4 years ago and she has always had one of the best female voices in the UK and a great ear for music. I knew she'd have something up her sleeve.

Posted by: Addy K!ng Sep 16 2016, 04:04 PM

omg I love it...so beautiful <3

Posted by: Atonement Sep 16 2016, 08:51 PM

She has been absent for so long in the pop world that I thought it would be impossible for her to have a successful comeback, but with this song she might be able to pull it off? I think it'll be a bit of a slow burner.

I don't know how I feel about the song yet personally. It's definitely intriguing.

Posted by: burbe Sep 16 2016, 09:44 PM

This is pretty good - a great comeback from her!

Posted by: Noahspike Sep 16 2016, 11:20 PM

I'm not totally feeling it myself (at least right now) but it's clearly an excellent, classy, intricately formulated, multi-dimensional track that'll impress on a big scale, so a very smart career move. I forgot how gorgeous her voice is.

I do wonder though, given she's dictated her career from the off by forcing her to go by her middle name, how long Emeli's been sitting on this/waiting to release something considering Adele had been threatening a comeback for so long, and then of course took her audience hostage along with the rest of the world for the last year. laugh.gif

It was an instant click with me !

Posted by: Ðøßßø Sep 17 2016, 12:18 PM

Not getting the general overwhelming response to this song at all but at least it's a lot better than I was fearing, definitely won't mind hearing it on the radio but still sounds like something I'll get sick of pretty quickly.

Posted by: Mackenzie Sep 17 2016, 06:03 PM

Insant Hit with me!

Posted by: Scene Sep 17 2016, 07:09 PM

I do think Emeli will struggle in the streaming era so although this could've made it to the top in the digital age I'm worried she'll fail to go top 10 with this.

Posted by: Jack Sep 18 2016, 12:01 AM

If you're not a random dance act / Justin Bieber / singer/songwriter you're not going to do well in the charts.

Posted by: liamk97 Sep 18 2016, 12:12 AM

I wasn't really getting the overwhelming response to this either at first, as much as I wanted to. Like, I could totally appreciate what she was doing and her fantastic vocal ability, but something wasn't impacting on me in the same way other marching rhythmed, OneRepublic esque songs did.

I'm happy to say that it is growing now, especially after her phenomenal Live Lounge performance.

Posted by: lewistgreen Sep 24 2016, 07:56 AM

I know it probably won't get as much love in here but offaiah has remixed Hurts and it's amazing.

Posted by: danG Sep 26 2016, 02:47 PM

WOW. dance.gif music.gif dance.gif

offaiah hits it out of the park again
