QUOTE Dick Tracy 2 might actually happen 25 years on Warren Beatty is "serious" about it. BY SAM WARNER It looks like a Dick Tracy sequel may be on the cards. The original film came out over 25 years ago, though it looks like Warren Beatty may be ready for another outing as the yellow trench coat-wearing comic strip detective. According to Variety, producer Arnom Milcham revealed the news on Wednesday (April 13) as he collected the Legends of Cinema Award from the actor. Beatty later confirmed that he was very much considering the sequel: "I'm serious about it, but I am slow about these things." Milcham also suggested that the next Dick Tracy film could be done within two years. The original movie, released in 1990 and based on the comic strip, was directed by Beatty, who also played the eponymous detective. It followed Tracy's love relationships with Breatless Mahoney and Tess Truehart, and his clashes with crime boss Alphonse 'Big Boy' Caprice. Madonna, Al Pacino, Dustin Hoffman and Dick Van Dyke also starred in the film, which received mixed reviews but was a box office hit. Beatty is currently working on a Howard Hughes film with Milcham slated for release later this year, with the actor set to play the eccentric billionaire in his later years. Could we be smelling a Beatty comeback? Watch the original trailer for Dick Tracy below: Never saw the original so I don't know what happened to her character, but I doubt Madonna would return. Still, did anyone watch the original? Any thoughts? |

I'd be very excited for it (even though it would obv be Madonna free) as I absolutely love the original. It's a weird combination of gothic/Tim Burton comic book drama with humour and just downright crazy and a lot of fun.
