Zayn - PILLOWTALK
Zayn - LIKE I WOULD
Snakehips - Cruel (feat Zayn)
Zayn - I Don't Wanna Live Forever (With Taylor Swift)
Zayn - Still Got Time (Feat PARTYNEXTDOOR)

Harry Styles - Two Ghosts

13 songs, 28 rates! Which 3 will fail to make the top 10 and which will be victorious?!

While I finish up on the results, where do you think this will place in future rates?

Posted by: Josh! 12th September 2017, 12:05 PM

Predicting a "Sign of the Times" win, I think. Then I'd say "Pillow Talk" and "Slow Hands" perhaps finishing the top three.

"Pillow Talk" is by FAR my favourite on the list here so I do hope it does well. "Back to You" too as I've been surprised at how much I've been loving that recently wub.gif

#13: Harry Styles - Two Ghosts 5.55

I'm not sure if it's because it's the most unfamialir, but this is certainly not the worst song in the running here, so I'm quite surprised to see 'Two Ghosts' last. But despite coming last, it was one of very few songs to receive no -1s, it's lowest score just being a 0 from leewallace. So that's a silver lining, nobody actively hates it! Hopefully we'll get a real video for this soon? I'm sure Joseph knows when it's coming!

Posted by: ElectroBoy 12th September 2017, 02:10 PM

I think had Dusk til Dawn been included it would've done well - well it would've done with me anyway biggrin.gif

Posted by: JosephGutierrez 12th September 2017, 04:01 PM

I've not heard anything about a Two Ghosts video sad.gif I hope we get one ASAP!

Definitely not deserving of anywhere near last, shame on you Buzzjack.

Posted by: Calum 12th September 2017, 09:46 PM

Not a massive loss, but Two Ghosts is decent. Less offensive than some of the others. Liam's singles to drop out soon please kink.gif

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 12th September 2017, 10:40 PM

Looking at that list really reminds me how disappointing pretty much all of 1D's solo output has been. sad.gif

Posted by: Josh! 12th September 2017, 10:43 PM

Two Ghosts is really not deserving of last place. I wouldn't say it's one of my absolute favourite tracks from Harry's album but it does make a good single choice and is far better than some of the other songs left to come in this rate.

My personal bottom three would be "Just Hold On", "Like I Would" & "This Town", I think...

Posted by: Andrew. 12th September 2017, 11:07 PM

Harry's solo music has been the most disappointing for me unfortunately sad.gif I loved 'Sign Of The Times' on first listen but it tired on me VERY quickly and now I find it kinda unbearable to listen to mellow.gif I've heard the new single and a few other songs from his album and nothing has made an impression on me either! Tbf Niall's has really disappointed me too but he can stay for 'other' reasons xx

Posted by: White Mustang 13th September 2017, 02:36 PM

#12: Niall Horan - This Town 5.57

Coming in at 12th is Niall's debut effort, it's was critically not received too well, but did moderately well in the charts around the world. Why is there no video for this either?!

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 13th September 2017, 02:42 PM

'This Town' is the epitome of bland borefest. zzz.gif

Posted by: White Mustang 13th September 2017, 02:45 PM

The highest average for this rate is 8.32. Which song will take it?

Posted by: JosephGutierrez 13th September 2017, 04:44 PM

This Town is really lovely, but not very Buzzjack-friendly so not surprised at that outcome.

Posted by: ElectroBoy 13th September 2017, 05:55 PM

Niall hasn't done a video for Slow Hands either

Posted by: White Mustang 14th September 2017, 01:27 PM

#11: Louis Tomlinson - Just Hold On (with Steve Aoki) 5.59

This one is a cute bop! Quite throwaway and somewhat forgettable, but decent all the same, I didn't expect Louis' debut to be as low as #11, unfortunately just missing the top 10...

Posted by: Calum 14th September 2017, 03:23 PM

This Town and Just Hold On about right, just hope either one of Liam's is next though laugh.gif

Posted by: JosephGutierrez 14th September 2017, 03:36 PM

Just Hold On is WAY too low mellow.gif

Posted by: cqmerqn 14th September 2017, 10:25 PM

Slow Hands to win this

Posted by: White Mustang 15th September 2017, 11:04 AM

#10: Zayn - I Don't Wanna Live Forever (With Taylor Swift) 6.07

The first song in the top 10, and the first with a 6+ average and also the first from Zayn is 'I Don't Want To Live Forever', which was the followup from 'Love Me Like You Do'/'Earned It' fronting the 50 Shades films, though it didn't replicate the same success as those two songs, it was a big hit in the end peaking at #2 in the US and top 5 in the UK. It got off to a very slow start in both territories, but got there in the end due to the film's release/video release and well timed discounts.

That's one song from everyone apart from Liam...Will he be next?

Posted by: Calum 15th September 2017, 11:12 AM

No surprise that I Don't Wanna Live Forever's ended up as low as it has tbh. I seem to like it a lot more than most people! heehee.gif

Posted by: White Mustang 15th September 2017, 11:13 AM

I thought Like I Would would be more hated tbh!

Posted by: Josh! 15th September 2017, 12:42 PM

Yay a most of my least favourites dropping out early. "Like I Would" next please and then I quite like everything else left in.

IDWLF is underrated imo, I can see why it gets hated on by some but it grew on me massively and is one of my favourite Zayn tracks now.

Posted by: White Mustang 15th September 2017, 01:32 PM

#9: Liam Payne - Get Low (With Zedd) 6.26

Underrated bop. I muuuuch prefer this to Strip That Down...It seems only Jay is with me on that though. They shot the video for this a month ago at Trafalgar Square...But it seems to have been scrapped?

Posted by: Calum 15th September 2017, 01:48 PM

I much prefer Get Low to Strip That Down, however neither of them are really songs that have me on board with Liam's campaign.

Posted by: ElectroBoy 15th September 2017, 02:01 PM

Get Low is great - much better than Strip That Down!

Posted by: Jay ☆ 15th September 2017, 03:01 PM

cry.gif These results are going so badly... two of my major faves out already. drama.gif (Get Low & Just Hold On). I don't think IDWLF should be Zayn's last place song either.

Posted by: JosephGutierrez 15th September 2017, 03:08 PM

Get Low is average, no loss for me, but LIKE I WOULD still being in is a huge shock and quite undeserved imo!

Posted by: HarryEzra 15th September 2017, 04:12 PM

I wish I Don't Wanna Live Forever was more liked on here it is so lovely wub.gif

Posted by: Jade 15th September 2017, 11:09 PM

'Get Low' is just so unexciting and basic. 'Strip That Down' on the other hand has a bit of a trashy charm to it and I like the production a lot more. Glad that has ended up higher!

Posted by: all is vanity. 16th September 2017, 11:39 PM

I love Get Low! I'd put that in my top five.

Posted by: cqmerqn 17th September 2017, 11:01 AM

I love Strip That Down. Hope it's top 5.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 17th September 2017, 11:10 AM

'Get Low' just doesn't go anywhere.

Posted by: White Mustang 18th September 2017, 01:44 PM

#8: Zayn - LIKE I WOULD 6.42

Here we go, the first artist to lose a second song (Everyone has at least 2). 'LIKE I WOULD' Was the second single from Zayn's debut and it wasn't the best choice, BeFour would have been a much bigger hit. This has a good video though!

Posted by: Calum 18th September 2017, 05:41 PM

Expected. sad.gif I love LIKE I WOULD, one of my favourites from the album and it's a total bop! Strip That Down has to be out soon? unsure.gif

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 18th September 2017, 10:50 PM

I actually prefer 'Like I Would' to 'Pillowtalk'.

Posted by: ElectroBoy 19th September 2017, 07:14 AM

Like I Would is great - definitely better than Pillowtalk

Posted by: White Mustang 20th September 2017, 10:13 AM

#7: Zayn - Still Got Time (Feat PARTYNEXTDOOR) 6.48

Another one in the casket for Zayn here. 'Still Got Time' is a cute bop but it feels very album track rather than a single. Despite that, it did reasonably well in the charts, though not as well as his newer single 'Dusk Till Dawn' seems to be doing. Still nothing over a 7 average!

Posted by: ElectroBoy 20th September 2017, 02:27 PM

Still Got Time did nothing for me to start with, but grew on me massively.

Again way too low

Posted by: Josh! 20th September 2017, 05:16 PM

Still Got Time is pretty fantastic and definitely the sort of sound he suits best in my opinion in comparison to his poppier singles. I think it's my second favourite of his behind Pillow Talk. I'm still a bit gutted that it wasn't a massive hit when the inferior "Dusk Till Dawn" enters straight into the top 5 in the charts sad.gif

Posted by: White Mustang 22nd September 2017, 12:54 PM

#6: Liam Payne - Strip That Down (featuring Quavo) 6.62

And, outside the top 5 we say goodbye to Liam, as Zayn, Niall, Harry, Louis and Zayn all take a song into the top 5 (Zayn has two!) Strip That Down is fine, it's annoyingly got Ed Sheeran's voice on it but it's a low key jam all the same. Get Low is a lot better though, and would have placed in about the same place had Jade not -1'd it.

Posted by: JosephGutierrez 22nd September 2017, 02:46 PM

PONCHO

QUAVO

Posted by: cqmerqn 22nd September 2017, 08:00 PM

I really love Strip That Down

Posted by: ElectroBoy 23rd September 2017, 03:01 PM

How the hell did this get so high?

Posted by: Calum 23rd September 2017, 05:17 PM

Definitely wouldn't have that as high as #6, but glad it didn't bother the top 5 at all!

Posted by: Court 24th September 2017, 05:46 AM

I know it’s not the “best” song in the bunch but I’d rather listen to Strip That Down than any other song on the list because it’s just fun. It’s an ear worm and it grows on you unlike most of the slow melancholy songs the other boys are putting out. It makes sense that it snuck it’s way so high in this rate in the same way that it became pretty much the most successful out of all the debuts, after Pillowtalk.

Posted by: White Mustang 25th September 2017, 08:18 AM

#5: Louis Tomlinson - Back to You (Feat Bebe Rexha and Digital Farm Animals) 6.64

Making it into the top 5 by the skin of is teeth (Still nothing over a 7 average!) is Louis' with his latest and most recent hit 'Back To You', which is a Skype-ringtone jam where Bebe shines arguably more than Louis himself. It was his second top 10 hit as a solo artist, peaking lower than his previous single at #8 but will probably eventually outsell that.

Posted by: Jay ☆ 25th September 2017, 11:59 AM

I really liked Back to You at first, but unfortunately it grew old quite fast. Bebe definitely lifts the track; if it was just Louis it really would just plod along - so definitely a smart move to collaborate.

Liam’s debut was a bit of a let down for me. A listenable enough basic bop but I’m sure he’s capable of better stuff - we’ll see.

Posted by: JosephGutierrez 25th September 2017, 04:17 PM

Adore Back to You, comfortably my second favourite of their solo singles so far!

Posted by: Calum 25th September 2017, 04:52 PM

Yeah, I agree with Jay that if it had just been Louis himself, the track would seem a bit lifeless. I like it, but it's by no means one of my favourites of the solo material.

Thinking Harry will come out on top now... unsure.gif

Posted by: THEO. 25th September 2017, 05:06 PM

Lol at "Cruel" in the top five.

I'd love for "Pillowtalk" to win but it doesn't look like there's many fans of it/Zayn's music in general judging by the reductive placings for "Like I Would" and "Still Got Time" x

I think "Slow Hands" will win.

Posted by: Calum 25th September 2017, 06:09 PM

'Back To You' is really growing on me!

Love 'Strip That Down'.

#4: Harry Styles - Sign of the Times 7.08

Finally a song with a 7+ average! Here we have one of this year's UK #1s, 'Sign of the Times', which as soon as it was released, created a huge buzz and excitement, everyone was curious to hear One Direction's most famous member's first solo material, with SOTT flying up to #1 on iTunes and also storming Spotify. Critically and among fans it was a fairly mixed reception, but it's clearly well liked on Buzzjack, receiving one of the highest scores.

Posted by: cqmerqn 26th September 2017, 04:11 PM

Glad Signs didn’t win

Posted by: JosephGutierrez 26th September 2017, 04:43 PM

Some of the scores for SOTT felt exceedingly harsh so I'm not shocked at that finish, but I'm disappointed. Deserves much better.

Predicting Slow Hands to win, followed by PILLOWTALK 2nd and Cruel 3rd.

Posted by: Calum 26th September 2017, 05:35 PM

ohmy.gif Shame about that, as Sign of the Times is brilliant.

Rooting for PILLOWTALK now, but yeah think Slow Hands will edge it.

Posted by: cqmerqn 26th September 2017, 08:47 PM

Predicting

01 Slow Hands
02 Pillowtalk
03 Cruel

Posted by: White Mustang 27th September 2017, 01:14 PM

#3: Zayn - Cruel (Featured on Snakehips) 7.37

Snakehips and Zayn seem to have dark horse'd there way to the top 3 quite unexpectedly, no complaints though, it's a great song and I wish it'd done at least slightly better chart-wise! Maurice isn't a fan though, giving this a 1.

So it's Pillowtalk V Slow Hands. Which would you prefer won?

Posted by: cqmerqn 27th September 2017, 06:07 PM

I imagine Slow Hands will win as Pillowtalk got a couple of -1s if memory serves me right.

Posted by: White Mustang 28th September 2017, 09:44 AM

Next Page!

Posted by: White Mustang 28th September 2017, 09:44 AM

#2: Zayn - PILLOWTALK 8.25

#1: Niall Horan - Slow Hands 8.32

And there we have it, what a turnaround for Niall with his only other single finishing second last! Your winner, 'Slow Hands' was, upon release, immediately more well received than 'This Town' and it started to really smash the charts after being performed at Ariana's One Love Manchester concert. It'll be interesting to see what's in store for his newest single, as 'Too Much to Ask' isn't off to the greatest start comparatively.

Second place's #1 hit PILLOWTALK, received, by far, the most high scores of the rate (7 11s, 9 10s), compared to Niall's 3 11s and 5 10s, but it was harshly sabotaged by a couple of 0s and a -1, which means it ends in second place.

Thanks everyone! Those low averages for the top 2! Ya'll some messy 1D solo haterz.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 28th September 2017, 09:50 AM

'Slow Hands' is a decent song!

I don't necessarily think 'Pillowtalk' is a bad song per se, I just can't get on board with it as he's trying WAY too hard to be sexy and can't quite pull it off. And plus it is rather annoying anyway.

Posted by: HarryEzra 28th September 2017, 10:08 AM

I am so glad Slow Hands won it may not be my fave 1D solo song (either SOTT or STD are that but they change places all the time) but it is very good and I can see why people love it enough.

Posted by: THEO. 28th September 2017, 11:06 AM

Ugh. I want to like "Slow Hands"/Niall's solo music more than I do but I just can't. Pretty much every track on Mind of Mine is better than "Slow Hands"/all of the other members' solo material.

Thanks for running the rate, Joe! biggrin.gif

Posted by: Calum 28th September 2017, 05:05 PM

I do like Slow Hands, so don't mind that it won! PILLOWTALK is much better though, alongside practically all of Zayn's solo material. kink.gif

Posted by: cqmerqn 28th September 2017, 06:58 PM

Thanks Joe
