OMG WHAT THE f*** OMNG I AM FULL ON STAN FREAKING OUT
Genuinely so shocked at this! I didn’t think we’d get a new album from her until like late next year at the earliest.
Idk why but I have a feeling this album won’t be pop I think it could be a return to country music or exploring Americana type music.
I’m definitely interested in hearing this though. Possible contender for next weeks #1 too on the albums here in the UK there’s nothing major out is there?
Taylor feat. Bon Iver? Is this real life? well I very much look forward to this!
SCREAMING
I LOVE the artwork too, lowkey prefer it to Lover oops! Her first album cover without the title on it!
I'm honestly so excited, expecting this to be slightly less commercial but up there with her best work omg
oh my almost fell off the chair when I saw Taylor ft Bon Iver!
I quite like the cover as well. Very different for her but I’m quite feeling the nature vibes feel to it.
I’m becoming quite the fan of textless covers these days just imagine if we didn’t get this announcement today though and we just woke up to it tomorrow!!!
This feels so random and out of no where omg. I know she often pulls surprises but we usually at least know something is coming, but an entire surprise album is just crazy!
I'm shocked and feel so good about it!
Wohoo amazing news!!!!!!!!!
WHAT. WHAT? Omfg!!
She's given us three incredible albums on the trot, I'd love if we got something sort-of like Speak Now. Aaron Dessner from the National writing so many tracks as well
SO HYPED
I really just have this feeling that this is gonna be her masterpiece.
I just woke up from a nap I can’t breathe!!’
really love what Aarom Dressner wrote:
I was excited and honored when Taylor approached me in late April about maybe writing some songs remotely together. I had been isolating with my family but writing a ton of music in the first months of quarantine which I shared. I thought it would take a while for song ideas to come and I had no expectations as far as what we could accomplish remotely. But a few hours after sharing music, my phone lit up with a voice memo from Taylor of a fully written version of a song -- the momentum never really stopped. Over the next few months, we remotely finished 11 songs (She also recorded several others with the amazing Jack Antonoff) of her magical new album “folklore”. I've rarely been so inspired by someone and it’s still hard to believe this even happened -- these songs came together in such a challenging time. It wouldn't haven't been possible without so much help from first and foremost my engineer Jon Low. And my brother Bryce Dessner's beautiful orchestration on several songs from across the ocean. Justin helped to write and sing a beautiful song and so many other friends from our community contributed brilliantly from their respective isolation — Ben Lanz, Bryan Devendorf, Bryce Dessner, Clarice Jensen, Dave Nelson, James McAlister, Jason Treuting, Josh Kaufman, JT Bates, Kyle Resnick, Rob Moose, Thomas Bartlett, and Yuki Numata Resnick — More on them later! I'm very proud of all these songs and profoundly grateful to Taylor for inviting me into and trusting me in her process. She is one of the most talented, hardworking and deeply caring artists I've ever encountered. There's a palpable humanity and warmth and raw emotion in these songs that I hope you'll love and take comfort in as much as I do.
BEAUTIFUL news to wake up to. I was hoping for Cruel Summer being a single but this is even better *.*
Women are really saving 2020 huh
Just looking at the pics it seems like this will be the darker version of Lover. If so it’s the perfect time for me, Lover was the soundtrack to the best months of my life and now it’s kinda painful to listen to
I don't know whether or not I am excited about this. I'll probably listen to it out of curiosity if nothing else, since it seems to be a very different direction to her last few albums x
Taylor doing a folk album sounds like something that could be great but it could equally just bore me to tears ('Safe & Sound' is probably still my least favourite song she's ever made #hottake). Bon Iver and Aaron Dessner being involved with it is promising though. x
just under 13 hours to go omg, I am so excited!!
This is obviously her shortest gap between eras, as the 11 months between this & Lover smashes the prev record of 21 months between rep & lover!!
if it wasn't obvious already, insider confirmed the whole album genre is folk acoustic & there's piano.
We're really getting an album full of Safe & Sounds
there's also a clean version of the album on her store which suggests were getting an explicit song
Hype for this, her voice is so perfect for it! Can't believe she's really there dropping a surprise album, I am SHOOK
Wanting to get this on CD but reading that it’s limited edition and just for a week. Is that just the different artworks that applies too?
Her best album cover imo! So excited!!
okay so who of y'all is gonna be on here at 5am listening to this at the same time as me? x
When are they going to add it to the UK store urgh!!
Maybe it’ll be like Rihanna’s ANTI and it’ll come later on.
Perhaps because it’s so last minute there could be a delay outside of the US.
yeah hopefully we'll get details soon on physical copies, I need one so badly aha.
Hoping the iTunes pre-order goes up soon, I wanna know the track times!
her website said physical copies shipping in 8 WEEKS!!!
So many vinyl options I think I'm gravitating towards the 'Betty's Garden' purple one most!
5 explicit songs!!!
From an insider that's heard the album (the same person who gave the hints of folklore/cardigan last month):
Just dropping in to say that this is an absolutely fantastic album beginning to end. One of Taylor's best. Country music fans will be very happy with Betty. I'll leave everything else as a surprise. But what a beautifully written and produced album.
ahh I'm so ready
YAS BRING IT ON
This is going to be the album I didn't know I needed!
SO excited!
you can now pre-save the album on Spotify/Apple Music/deezer so hopefully iTunes preorder coming soon!
this is the first time I've ever pre-saved an album on Spotify ahaha, how does it even work?
When you pre-save it notifies you as soon as it’s available for a listen in full
This has really got twitter talking so I think we could see some big streams for this and I’m guessing she could be track 1 on NMF along with getting the cover as well?
I just saw all the posts on Facebook, I am dying to hear it!
UK Store updated! Now time to choose what album cover I want
Vinyl release date 27th November
I'm glad I don't buy vinyl's now ahaha
I think I'm gonna get 2 CD's + an iTunes copy, tf for birthday money *.*
I’m gonna get it from HMV I think when it becomes available. I don’t like buying from artists own stores for some reason although I did for Gaga
I’ll for sure be streaming this tomorrow though!
(edit: I’ve got it off her store and I’ve picked the first edition (like the “official” cover).
So even though it says shipping will be during August will this pre order count for her debut week?
I can't believe we are 7 and a 1/2 hours away from new Taylor, this day has been insane. I'm so f***ing excited.
I pre-ordered all of the CDs from her store.
The physical sales won't count in the UK until the release date, which is Friday 7th August - but this will go towards the Friday 14th August chart, which'll be the album's third week in the chart. It might work differently in the US, but then again I thought they had recently announced a rule change to discourage it - maybe it's not implemented yet?
~
A surprise album is such an exciting development, really looking forward to listening!
I think we’re potentially looking at week 3 being the albums peak sales week then and potentially Taylor’s first album in the UK to get more than one week at #1?
We should have strong digital sales this week though id imagine!
FIVE HOURS TO GO OMG. I'm SO READY
yasssss New Music Friday on Spotify is coverless so hopefully that'll mean Tay has the cover! <3
She is the actual queen of era aesthetics.
Going to bed now but looking forward to soundtracking tomorrow with this *.*
who else is listening at 5am here? don't wanna be the only one reacting then!
Aaaaah f*** it go on then
yassss we love to see it
album tea so far:
- My Tears Ricochet is a solo-Taylor written song and first song written for the album
- There's a collection of 3 songs she refers to as the Teenage Love Triangle -> they explore a love triangle from all 3 people's perspectives at different time in their lives
- yay we have Easter eggs in the lyrics. also character arcs + recurring themes that map out who's singing about who
- folklore is wistful and full of escapism. sad, beautiful, tragic. Like a photo album full of imagery, and all the stories behind that imagery.
I'm excited for the love triangle thing!! omg the album description <3
UNDER 2 MORE HOURS AHHHH I'M SO EXCITED!!!!
I need this rn I can't take waiting much longer ahhhh!
(yh idgaf if I'm triple posting, this is my night to spam x)
I'm SO intrigued by this!!! I don't really know what to expect but Taylor always brings it *.*
Taylor wrote some of the album before quarantine but most of it’s been created completely in lockdown and she started in April!!
okay so My Tears Ricochet is TRACK 5, Jack Antonoff said its one of the best things he's ever done, self written & first song Taylor wrote for the album -> album highlight incoming!!! It's about: The song is about a lost romance and why young love is often fixed so permanently within our memories. Why it leaves such an indelible mark (I think, this could be for Cardigan)
ONE HOUR AFHAFOJKDOJFDOJADFOJOFAJOFDAJO I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS REAL
Okay I’m knackered rn so I’ll listen as soon as I get up, enjoy guys 😭❤️❤️❤️
ahhhh okay (come back in an hour if u can't sleep!!!)
GUYS ITS SO CLOSE I'M SO EXCITED
10 MINTUES OMG!!
who else is here?
LET'S GO AHHHAHHAHAAHAH!!!!!!
THE 1 IS AMAZING. her swearing on the first line!!!
I'm here. I haven't started yet because it's loading.
Cover of NMF and track one with Cardigan. only one song on NMF
Track 4 on Today's Top Hits (ugly 5 are the cover)
Really low on hot hits uk ffs
The 1 is now playing!
accidentally started playing the album on shuffle so back to proper x
CARDIGAN IS AMAZING OMG AND WHAT A LEAD SINGLE
I'm ready for it, of course.
The 1 - Nice album opener!
I'm bopping to the last great American dynasty OMG this is FAB
I'm a song behind. Cardigan seems to be a good single choice, can't wait to watch the video later!
the album is 1 hour and 3 minutes long btw!
ooh wasn't expecting Bon Iver to start Exile but then again Gary did on the last time. No Taylor at all in the first min!
exile is stunning
this is my dream Tay album and I'm already crying.
the last great american dynasty - this might be an early favorite.
my tears ricochet time and I'm so hyped for this based on what we've heard surrounding the song!
exile - I am not a fan of Bon Iver.
Okay behind because I started with the video and chatting with my friends! Think cardigan and the one sound great! Definitely gunna be a well written album!
...but the piano and Taylor's voice are good.
my tears ricochet is gorgeous <3 the 2nd chorus omg
the lakes isn't on streaming so 16 tracks it is! somebody better get the deluxe quick
I feel some are gonna find this album slow/boring but omg its perfect for me
also back on exile, it reminds me of a better version of the last time!
can they add this to iTunes plz I wanna buy!! supposedly its not on Apple Music either yet?
EDIT: THE WAY THEY ADD IT THE MOMENT I POST THAT AHAHA
Damn this album is something special! This is where she belongs! I jumped ahead to mirrorball because I don’t want to be left behind
I hate that I'm behind a song. my tears ricochet is beautiful.
Mirrorball is rly nice but probs my least fave so far.
OMG HER VOICE ON SEVEN IS STUNNING
if u guys wanna catch up lmk and I'll watch the Cardigan video now!!
Listening to seven and I agree she sounds amazing! And I agree Mirrorball didn’t standout but I’m sure it will grow!
okay seven is my album highlight so far, WHAT A BEAUTIFUL SONG.
mirrorball - kind of a dreamy sound
Definitely! Seems completely herself here! Not sure what you thought of Me! But I did question it lol 😂
August is I love the chorus *.*
omg yassss at there being a folk version of Taylor's/Jack's screaming bridges I LOVE
REMEMBER WHEN I PULLED UP AND SAID GET IN THE CAR
August is amazing!! Amazing storytelling:)
omg the outdo on August is gorgeous, another career highlight
onto this is me trying now and track 9 of Tay's albums are usually my highlights so I'm ready
seven - another potential favorite
this is me trying is gorgeous and def sounds like a grower! it's probs in the lower half of my album rn which has never been the case with any of her track 9's bar stay stay stay! (which gets a hard time)
the amount of times, she brings up films and film reels on this album
Illicit Affairs is rly nice, it reminds me of an acoustic-y wildest dreams. this is one track I would love to hear with like wildest dreams' production on it or a bit more production!
this is gonna be a fave as well I think, its gorgeous aha.
Invisible string is definitely one of my favorites so far! Just a very cute song
Invisible String is so cute, another one that feels like it'll be a 10 for me after a couple listens <3
this is me trying
I love the start of the production of Mad Woman, it reminds me of a calmer version of Carrie Underwood's Blown Away!
DOES SHE MOUTH f*** YOU FOREVER
the Mad Woman lyrics omg
this is def a highlight, I love it omg <3 the strings are such a nice subtle touch!
I'm on Invisible String.
Epiphany is sounding like a solid ballad that will grow
Epiphany OMG
A f***ING MASTERPIECE.
Omg betty!!!! If you haven’t it I’m shocked!
yep that's another album highlight, the beautiful soothing production, the long gorgeous outro, the dreamy vocals
omg the piano on mad woman...
OMG THE COUNTRY OPENING IN BETTY, SHE'S BACK
I hope there is piano sheet music for this album.
Betty
this feels like a more mature version of a song that would appear on Selftitled/Fearless/SN and I love it
Betty is great!! Reminds me of speak now
I’m thinking she loves Betty??
#4 on iTunes already and will be #1 any sec *.* cardigan already 120!!
this is under alternative on iTunes too!!!
I'm on epiphany now...so beautiful.
Peace is nice but I think it's the weakest so far.
Sorry! I did jump ahead:/
Hoax is a really nice album closer and sounds like another grower
first listen finished and album of the year <3 <3
Hoax is good! Just a ballad but definitely a good one!
listening to Seven again whilst I'm doin my rate then gonna watch the Cardigan vid!
also Hoax going into playlist radio on f***ING PERFECT ILLUSION after such a calm hour was a choice for the ears
album. of. the. f***ing. year. easily.

I don't even f***ing care how loony this. TAYLOR. DID. THAT. Seven is so f***ing good. All the 10's are so instant, I'd say Mad Woman 2nd, Epiphany 3rd, The 1 4th, August 5th, Cardigan 6th, Dynasty 7th rn. Tears 8th, Betty 9th, Exile 10th, TIMT 11th, Affairs 12th, String 13th, Mirrorball 14th, Hoax 15th, Peace 16th.
I'm gonna be going back to this album so many times
Hahaha I’ll be back soon to give my rate
I'm going to watch the Cardigan vid now! (someone else comment in that thread plz xx)
Ran straight back to listens of Seven and Mad Woman which are sfg
the piano in hoax... (I'm a pianist, so I love a good piano bit.) ahhhh.
I'm feeling teary on Hoax.
I'm done. How can I even rank this? Everything is gorgeous in its own way.
Hahah can’t believe I’m up but the video is good! Not a traditional Taylor video but I did still like it!
okay listening to Epiphany a 2nd time and I think this may end up being my fave on the album, its SO STUNNING.
it reminds me of a way more stripped back version of the greatest/slide away, I love it.
I also finished the Cardigan video. Amazing.
it's been amazing listening along with u guys as well!! The first time we've managed to ever for a Tay album as everyone (inc me oops) always listened to the leaks of the other albums before they actually came out aha!! So much fun <3 <3
listening to Betty rn and then f*** it, I'm going for round 2.
and Betty is now a 10, already half the album being a 10 for me!!
#1 on US charts *.*
I low-key already prefer this to Lover
anyway the Apple Music playlisting is even worse than Spotify. I hope this is cos its a surprise drop and cardigan gets better playlisting further on & maybe one or two album tracks go on playlists! I'm not expecting this to be massively successful on the singles chart but I hope the album will serve longevity
OMG I just remembered we have the lakes as well to come when the physicals come out OMG IM NOT READY!!
Ahh, trying to first listen rate and rank now.

as much as I love Illicit Affairs & Invisible String, I feel they're blending into 1 for me atm for either of them to be 10's
f*** it idec if this is hyperbole rn, this is her masterpiece.

lemme have two 11's whilst I choose between them x Hoax is the biggest grower on listen 2
Hoax is my #1 now, I think.
a great choice *.*
I think Epiphany is affirming itself as my #1, it's so gorgeous. And listening closely to the lyrics, it hits 50x harder and is one hell of a song for the current times.
This album may be her best songwriting ever <3 I really think this album is going to solidify her reputation forever as one of the greatest songwriters of our generation.
This is honestly unreal, what a bloody album.
Such a great record...
epiphany is a career best. it might be her most beautiful song ever. it's so ethereal.
I think I've decided Epiphany/Seven/The 1/Cardigan/American Dynasty/August/Mad Woman/Betty are all already better than all Lover tracks not named Lover/Cruel Summer/Cornelia Street/The Man. and I think a couple more will join that list soon
Anyhoo I have now been up non-stop since Tay's announcement so imma try get a couple hours sleep so looking forward to seeing some of y'all reactions when I wake up *.*
loving Exile ft Bon Iver as expected and him singing with his full voice instead of falsetto is a rare treat!
I full on get shivers when listening to epiphany 😭😍
(Yes going to sleep is failing x)
This album is so amazing, love it!
EPIPHANY
The reviews it’s getting are unbelievable, 93 on metacritic with 4 reviews and 9.7 from user reviews
For me, it's probably her best album. I've never been big on Taylor Swift, but I really enjoyed reputation and enjoyed what I heard (the singles) of Lover. This is easily her best as I'm listening through now
I was intrigued about this subversion of expectations as I was a big fan of 'Safe & Sound' and I'm happy to report that I'm feeling satisfied with the album there are plenty of highlights dotted around but my favourite run at any point is that back-to-back trio of 'seven', 'august' and 'this is me trying' <3 the latter reminds me of 'Tomorrow' by Avril Lavigne a little. 'seven' might be my ultimate favourite on the record right now - so magical. 'epiphany' is certainly challenging it though!
I really look forward to returning to this later in the year. It sounds like it'll suit Autumnal walks and cosy winter nights in just perfectly.
Definitely ordering myself a vinyl now.
invisible string!
Epiphany is my favourite, also love Cardigan, Exile and Betty though. Definitely a super strong collection that I think is going to go down as one of her defining records, it's hitting different in the midst of what the world is going through. I think it's one of those albums that feels even stronger because it's been released at a perfect time.
Trying to listen to this in between calls at work is so hard. But thus far all I can say is: the ARTISTRY, the COHESION, the ATMOSPHERE that she has created is masterful
Also, the Cardigan MV is beautiful
Seven is amazing too
'mirrorball' is standing out as a particular listen #2 grower
She’s a cheeky bitch for channeling the opening of August solely through the right earphone. Nearly had a heart attack thinking that my new earphones had broke already
This is a really lovely surprise. I really like this new direction and it's great to see her being a lot less brash than she was on the last couple of albums.
I'm hearing Lana style melodies on quite a few of the tracks, that similar classic vibe to it.
Hmm, I think this album will take a few listens to get into. I am finding a handful of the songs very similar which is making it difficult to distinguish between them.
The 1 is cute, I really enjoyed it. I think Betty is my favourite, it is very quirky and I love the progressive build.
Epiphany gave me goosebumps, it's the kind of song you just close your eyes to and feel your body floating with every breath. STUNNING.
I’ve just listened to this whilst I was on my usual Friday walk and wow!!
The entire thing was really strong and really cohesive I can’t even think of stand outs yet as everything was so strong.
I definitely think this is stronger than Lover and reputation on just one listen.
This is genuinely a real turning point for her I think! I’m loving the direction she’s went den for this era.
Exile is heavenly 😭
Exile is breathtaking.
The whole album is stunning! MS SWIFT DID THAT IN LOCKDOWN. SHE. DID. THAT.
To think this is the same artist that released 'ME!' last year... What a perfectly timed triumph. I now have complete faith in Taylor Swift as an artist that can easily navigate a new stage in her career and blossom beyond hits and commercial success. This album is a definite risk, but she must finally feel liberated after achieving everything to not care in a way she would have before — makes me think of Beyoncé and her self-titled.
The lyricism is great and even the moments of The National cosplay feel inherently her. I just want to bathe in the sounds and stories she has written — 'Mirrorball' especially.
I'm awake again now so time to put this on repeat for the whole day *.*
Given this a listen and firstly I need to applaud just how incredible it is that she has managed to put this together in lockdown! She clearly has spent the time writing and exploring her inner thoughts and feelings and it shows because the album continually delves into her mind and lets us in. I am super impressed with the lyrics and the melodies.
Having said that, will I return to this album as much as I do 1989, reputation and Lover? No. I wish there was more light and shade on the album and differing tones and vibes. That is just for me personally, because 16 songs on the same pace is quite a slog to get through. But that is just for me, and I wouldn't actually want her to change this, because it is a complete body of work and clearly is meant to be so, so my minor gripe is just for me selfishly and is not to take away from this as a cohesive package. I will give it more time and see what grows and catches my attention moreso because I found it hard to do so on just one listen!
I’m on my second listen of this and it is very strong as a whole package. I get what Haus means kinda maybe it sounds better when you’re in like a certain type of mood.. this is very strong though!
I hope they CD I ordered is the explicit version does anyone know if they are from her store? I’m still working out what my favourites are I think over the weekend I’ll figure out what my main highlights are. I’m definitely here for this era though
ugh this just gets more and more perfect with every single listen I still can't believe this was record in just a few months and we didn't even know it existed just over a day ago!!!
inserts *I'm so used to giving and now I get to receive* gif <3
Not her recording the album at home and listing on the album info that the vocals were recorded at The Kitty Committee, I can't at her naming her studio that
I love her ahaha.
'Epiphany' is just... wow... Taylor at her best.
I'm gonna start a first impressions one week to rate, rate later tonight!
I have a feeling this will become my favourite of her albums in no time.
So many gorgeous melodies coming through with repeated listens.
exile, mirrorball, august, this is me trying, illicit affairs, invisible string, epiphany
invisible string is so Sufjan, can’t get enough
So as far as I can tell the album is doing better on AM in the UK than Lover which is great to see. Downside is I think its doing worse in the US
the UK on the other hand it's doing so much better!!! I'm really shocked just how much better it's doing
the update below was at 8:30pm so with 2 hours less and 2 versions of most tracks, Folklore has 2 tracks top 15, 5 tracks top 30 and 8 tracks top 40!! Lover found dead in a ditch x
Apple Music UK update:
23. Lover
29. The man
35. You need to calm down
40. I forgot that you existed
41. Cruel summer
50. I think he knows
52. London boy
53. Miss Americana
54. Paper rings
56. The archer
64. Cornelia street
77. Death by a thousand cuts
81. Me!
82. Soon you'll get better
91. False god
94. Afterglow
110. It's nice to have a friend
126. Daylight
What I love most is that its still very much a Taylor Swift album - she still has that charm but its just... developed
Cardigan and The 1 top 10 on UK Apple Music now omg! the slayage <3
The #1 is NUMBER ONE on US Apple Music
Cardigan (#4), Exile (#6), American Dynasty (#7), Tears Ricochet (#10), everything top 50, US slight underperformance is over and Lover is getting ha wig snatched again *.*
Feels like i've just had a free therapy class listening to this
My favourite Taylor album since Red / 1989!
Exile is just beautiful
Wait she released an album?!?!?
Vote for Taylor (& just Taylor x) in track of the week http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=236755&hl=
Currently in love with exile
“You never gave a warning sign”
“I gave so many signs”
This album was exactly what I needed. It’s so funny that last year Lover was the innocent, positive, falling-in-love record I needed and now folklore is the darker, kind of heartbreak album I need. Perfect timing Taylor! August hits particularly hard. Still working my way through the album
I feel that hoax is that underappreciated track that I love.
I haven't had much time today so still haven't listened to it all yet, but from what i've heard so far.. wow - stunning.
Exile just hit me like a tonne of bricks. I think I’ve seen this film before, just gets me
Hi T Swift fans!
I'm normally just a casual Taylor Swift listener, I'll listen to her songs but I wouldn't normally go out of my way to listen to her music.
BUT HOLY HELL. I've just sat and listened to this whole damn album and by GOD what a masterpiece! I'm loving the love triangle trio of songs!! Hard to pick favourites, but I can't stop listening to cardigan. epiphany, mad woman, august and exile are my stand outs.
Well done Swift.
Lover sold 16,867 on first day in the UK. Obvs first update doesn't include any streaming at all + no physicals, expect for a v. low number tomorrow x
also for comparison point for tomorrow - this is Lover's UK/US/WW debut on Spotify -> if anyone knows the Spotify counter number for Lover's first day (which is just a WW total), plz lmk as that's the first Spotify figure we'll find out probs:
couple notes - the UK debut for Lover (song) with those numbers would be enough for top 5 both in today's chart and last Friday's chart. the entire album make the top 50 (bar INTHAF & Daylight which'd both miss out by like 2k streams)
- as long as the J. Cole songs decrease on 2nd day, wishing well doesn't bump it too much, and folklore at minimum opens with the same numbers as Lover, she can grab the entire top 10 on US Spotify
UK:
7 Lover by Taylor Swift 339,320
13 The Man by Taylor Swift 297,735
17 I Forgot That You Existed by Taylor Swift 260,302

This is all great! Is it unusual to have 'August' as your fav track though.
The last Taylor Swift song I listened to was 'London Boy' so needless to say this is a massive improvement.
the way I've literally just had this on repeat non-stop since it came out.
I honestly can't remember the last time I've been as obsessed with an album...ever?
I think everything (apart from Peace which is a strong 9 and the two I titles which are 9.5's cos I need to differentiate them more rn ahaha) is a 10 for me now. omg.
My album ranking:
1. (3) epiphany
2. (1) seven
3. (6) cardigan
4. (7) the last great American dynasty
5. (4) august
6. (3) the 1
7. (2) mad woman
8. (9) betty
9. (8) my tears ricochet
10. (10) exile
11. (11) this is me trying
12. (14) mirrorball
13. (15) hoax
14. (12) illicit affair
15. (13) invisible string
16. (16) peace
I feel the top half is gonna keep changing atm
I’ll try to do a ranking but I’ve been obsessed with the same couple tracks all day so still need to let the rest grow on me lol
1. exile
2. august
3. the 1
4. betty
5. illicit affairs
6. mad woman
7. cardigan
8. the last great american dynasty
9. my tears ricochet
10. seven
11. this is me trying
12. mirrorball
13. epiphany
14. hoax
15. invisible string
16. peace
Beyond the first 5ish I struggle to recall, I’m sure the others will grow on me. Not a bad song on the album I have to say
okay I thought absolutely nothing had a chance of topping physical for my song of the year. and I think epiphany just did.
I have given this a listen and enjoyed it a lot. I thought 16 songs might make this too long as it’s past the track and length limit at which I usually think albums would be better if more condensed but there’s nothing that felt like filler or was hard work to get into, really good throughout and I suspect it’ll end up being something I listen to a lot. Exile and Epiphany were the early standouts.
I was excited to listen to it once I saw Aaron Dessner has worked so heavily on it, his work with The National goes from strength to strength and you can definitely hear his influence, he’d already produced another of my favourite albums of this year in Don’t Let The In Dry by Eve Owen, which isn’t a million miles away from Folklore in terms of style.
I listented yesterday after all the reviews. Maybe it was because it was background music but I found the majority of it a bit of slog. But I will give it a listen again.
That said, Excile is fantastic. Super haunting, excellent produced and the lyrics hit you and I really like Cardigan too.
top 3 for me: exile, cardigan and seven
actually not feeling much the lyrics in epiphany
Biggest female debut of all time in streaming! So happy for her!!!!
biggest female Spotify debut for a female ever
the entire top 16 in America
3 of the top 5 in the UK
this is getting it's own thread
Feels so weird hearing her say "fuck you forever".
the surprise drop. the excitement of the release. this being the album I've wanted from her in FOREVER. the album being so lyrically and sonically perfect. being utterly beautiful for these times. epiphany becoming one of my fave songs in her entire discography. the cardigan music video. the amount of 10's on the album. Tay being active on social media. the universal critical acclaim. the numbers absolutely smashing it out of the gate.
I am so f***in proud and as a major stan, everything feels so perfect in the last couple days These last 2 days have been pure bliss, I can't believe its been only 48 hours since she announced it!!

That U.K. website pre order 7th August
Perhaps a bit wishful (and premature) but imagine this potentially getting 3 weeks at #1! This week looks in the bag and assuming the streaming holds up well than a second week could be possible (can’t see any big releases). Then the 3rd week has the added advantage of physicals finally being released (hopefully in stores too)
The way Taylor has reeled in all the indie boys with this~
I've been (shockingly) having this on repeat all day and damn its so perfect with each and every listen
I think the last great american dynasty and exile are the tracks that have hit me the most today, the former is sfg and I adore the storytelling and the latter lyrically/vocally/production-wise is perfect. and cardigan is cementing itself as a firm fave with every listen <3
the bridge of the last great american dynasty is FANTASTIC.
I've also had this on repeat today also and after listening to the whole thing quite a few times now I think I can safely say this is my favourite album of hers. Every single track is stunning.
Perfection
Exile is my favourite at the moment with cardigan, betty and seven just behind.
I've listened to the album twice now and I've really enjoyed it. There are still one or two moments that I think are a little dull but overall it's a really solid and engaging album.
My favourite tracks are actually the first two (the one & cardigan) and my other stand-outs are betty, seven, invisible string & my tears ricochet.
Regarding Exile, I really liked the first 2 verses and choruses, but the song really drags with the bridge & the outro.
HDD have released their first US prediction!
Taylor Swift (Republic) 650k+ total activity, 450k+ albums
Very impressive! 200k in streaming seems rather low though, Ariana got 244k with tu,n so I imagine the prediction will increase
Wow, I’m shocked she’s sold THAT many physicals with none in store. Iconic. She’s really turned it around with this album. I’m so happy. Listening to it even more today than yesterday lol
I think this is gonna actually end up being my favourite Taylor album.
It’s a full on masterpiece from start to finish. She was so in the moment recording this it sounds like something what takes years to make but she really did this with what I presume was her fastest recorded album.
Has it been confirmed yet that the CDs from her store are from the explicit version or are they from the clean one?
Not that it makes that much difference just intrigued to know
and the stomping continues 1.3m units worldwide in 24 hours omg <3
this tweet from the end of April...
Lovely and chilled on a first listen, was perfect for sitting indoors on a wet day with a mug of tea and having it playing in the background.
August and This is me trying are the two standouts for me, August is up there almost instantly with one of my favourites from her. Love the lyrics and melodies in August.
this seems to be doing pretty similar to Juice WRLD's album on UK Spotify which did 21,850 from streams in its first week on the chart! he had more tracks (18 standard tracks + 3 interludes) so don't expect folklore to be that high, but that's probs around the ballpark to expect atm
my tears ricochet has hit me so hard today
mirrorball also hit me last night, I love the way it goes quieter in the second verse <3
16k album sales in the UK!!!
That’s a really fab start considering the circumstances. Lover did 23.1k in its first two days and remember this update is only one day streaming (where folklore is mostly relying on)
Anyone else get Sheryl Crow - Soak Up The Sun vibes in the vocal melody from 'mirrorball'?
folklore's sales atm are 14,329, not 16k aha however still a fab start even doing 50% of lover with nothing in stores.
folklore is tracking for a debut of 32,879 if it follows Lover's pattern (43.8% of its total by Sunday) which is fab, anything above 30k beats my expectations! <3
sales breakdown: folklore vs lover:
Saturday - Lover = 16,867 (9,173 physical, 7,694 digital), folklore = n/a
Sunday:
lover - 23.1k (11,036 physical, 8,600 digital, 3,544 streaming) --> lover did 906 digital sales on Saturday
folklore - 14,329 (breakdown unknown)
monday:
lover - ? (anyone know?)
Tuesday:
lover - 36,000
Wednesday:
lover - 40,033
Thursday:
lover - 43,900
Friday:
lover - 53,015
Well wow, this was a thing. I can't believe this is the same singer that released ME! last year. This whole album is wonderful, so much more mature, introspective and subtly powerful than I thought she could ever be. She really does this alternative folktronica sound really well and the strings and choral instruments really add some great layers to it.
My favourites are definitely exile, this is me trying (this needs more love!) and epiphany, some excellent structural building on in those, but I wouldn't turn any of these off, they all paint the same picture and create the same mood, which is clearly what she was going for.
Whether it was just lockdown that gave her some thinking time or natural maturing in sound, I'm really glad we got this as it shows that she is still a genuine musical talent behind all the fanfare, gossip, attention seeking and politics which was really affecting her work post-1989, I'm so glad I can actually praise her again!
it did 107k in US first day just from digital!!! (iTunes, amazon digital and google play). wow. supposedly around ~50k in streaming on first day too so +150k first day in US!!! we're v. likely hitting that 650k+ HDD prediction
I don’t want to listen to anything else at the moment, love this so much.
August is the absolute one 😭 with invisible string and exile following closely behind.
Already on level with 1989 for me.
14K so far is great considering it's just 1 day of streams
I estimated she did 8K on streaming on day 1
and looking at todays streams, I estimate another 5.5k from streams on day 2
I can’t get over how solid and strong this is.
yep I think I'm at the point I've accepted this is my favourite Taylor album ever. which is just insane, considering most of her albums are in my top 10 of all time. I cannot take it off repeat for even a single second, I literally don't want to do anything apart from just listen to this on repeat. a masterpiece
I've heard it enough times since my last ranking so here's my new order!! I think everything is a 10/10 for me by this point. Peace is def the weakest. 13-15 are also a lil behind the others. TIMT is a tiny bit behind the top 11. I think the top 11 are already up there with my all time faves omg. my tears ricochet is the massive grower over the last couple days, I full on weeped to it earlier <3 exile keeps hitting even more!! that lower half of the top 10 is a nightmare to order cos the fact two of those songs have to be bottom half on an album is insane ahh.
also guys remember to rate in the folklore first impressions rate which is only open until Friday!! (& plz more people vote and comment in all the polls and stuff goin on rn!! <3)
My album ranking:
1. (1) epiphany
2. (3) cardigan
3. (2) seven
4. (9) my tears ricochet
5. (4) the last great American dynasty
6. (10) exile
7. (8) betty
8. (5) august
9. (6) the 1
10. (7) mad woman
11. (12) mirrorball
12. (11) this is me trying
13. (14) illicit affair
14. (15) invisible string
15. (13) hoax
16. (16) peace
As expected, a few of the songs are growing a lot the more I listen.
The run of 'seven', 'august' and 'this is me trying' is my favourite moment on the album! 'exile' is of course great too!
exile up to 21 on UK iTunes now!! (which is 4 places above cardigan )
19,580 sales.
I wonder if it could hit 40k if it does an average of ~4.5k on Monday/Tuesday/Wed + ~6.5k on Thurs with streaming boost
monday is the day I'm missing Lover's daily sales on but I'm guessing it did around ~7k so Folklore doing 5.2k is great without physicals!!
sales breakdown: folklore vs lover:

UK midweeks:
04. cardigan
07. exile (ft. Bon Iver)
09. the 1
I think exile should be good for top 10 now, esp with it increasing on sales & staying stable on spot!! I wasn't expecting the 1 that low already so I'm worried it's gonna miss the top 10 it'll def be overtaken by the current #10 but I think it has a chance of staying above #11 (it sold more than the song currently 11th sold yesterday!)
Finally got round to listening a good few times, and it keeps growing with every listen. Now that I can tell all the songs apart I’m pretty sure my faves are; My Tears Ricochet, TLGAD, the 1, seven, August, exile, Betty and this is my trying. The only two I’m meh on are the last 2 that feel quite unnecessary and make the album quite long but overall a massive success even if I still kinda prefer pop Taylor
This is honestly one of my favourite albums in the last few years and definitely my favourite of hers. I’m still shook every time I listen.
from the insider that dropped the folklore + cardigan hint last month:
I know most haven't heard it yet, but for me "The Lakes" is the perfect closing track. It starts out with a 20 second intro which reminds me of 1940s music. The song is like acoustic poetry which takes my mind to the place seen in the album cover. In the chorus, Taylor sings "Take me to the lakes where all the poets went to die. I don't belong." She adds "Those Windermere peaks look like a perfect place to cry. I'm setting off." I am assuming she is referring to Windermere Lake in England's Lake District. Kind of makes me want to go visit the area in person to see the natural beauty there. I call this song an album-ending masterpiece.
omg I'm READY. also confirmed to be produced by Jack Antonoff!
"exile" is going to be sent to US Triple A radio and it's impacting this radio format next week.
I really want to hear the lakes.
August is the one I’m returning to the most often, I feel like I’ve known it forever.
I cannot believe we didn't even know this existed as little as a week ago
I'm still not over how good this album is! I've had so many songs as my favourite but I think 'epiphany' is definitely one of my favourites now after paying attention to the lyrics and reading about some of the meaning.
with today's numbers I'd say were probs looking at around ~35k to 37k. it sold 3,002 copies today. I feel it'll probs do 5k over the next two days to take us to 28k and then with streaming boost I think we'll end around 36k which'd be incredible!

"cardigan" - 110 adds on Pop, 51 adds on HAC, 3 adds on AC (2nd most added on pop/HAC, tied for 4th most added on AC)
"exile" - 1 add on AAA
"the 1" - 2 adds on Pop
"betty" - 3 adds on Country
I loved this album the first time I heard but it keeps getting better with every listen. There are new things to hear each time, its beautiful.
This was a pleasant surprise! I wasn't really sure what to expect going into it, but it blew me away. My favourites from it are "the last great american dynasty", "mirrorball" and "august"
I haven’t been on here for quite a long time but I also haven’t been this addicted to an album in about as much time. This album is pure genius - a lyrical and addictive masterpiece. Every listen unveils further depth and mystery. Epiphany is quite possibly the most beautiful song written, reverberating with poignancy and sadness while Exile chills to the core. Great work Taylor - I really hope it does well.
Is Cardigan being taken up well by radio?
Ok soooo I finally got around to listening to this and safe to say my skepticism of it has turned out to not really be warranted, this is a really good album. Gonna have to be a bit basic and say my fave is 'cardigan', that song really kind of blew me away on first listen the other day and is still standing above everything else after hearing the rest of it so I think she's made the perfect choice for the single, the instrumentation sounds so lush on it My other biggest faves on first listen are 'epiphany', 'august' and 'exile' (this one was a bit slow to start off with but it really kicks into gear when they start singing together) then on top of those I am also really liking 'the last great american dynasty', 'seven', 'my tears ricochet' and 'mad woman' so that's a full half of the album that I'd rank as major highlights!
As for the other half of the songs, I think most of them are at least pleasant to listen to, the only one that I'm not really liking at all is 'betty'. I also think the album both starts and ends on pretty weak notes, 'the 1', 'peace' and 'hoax' are all nice enough but definitely among my least favourites. So basically if the album was just tracks 2 to 13 then it would be nearly perfect for me
Let 'cardigan' get the Hot 100 #1 expeditiously pls
another increase from the previous day!!! maybe we sneak out 40k omg just?!?!

me realising it's been over a week since this was announced now wtaf, I'm still shook
She really recorded her best album in such a short space of time with this
Regarding the release of this because of how well this has went down could this potentially be the new norm now for Taylor and we’ll get surprise drops from now on?
5th number #1 album 37k sales! the 5th female artist ever to score 5+ UK #1's!!!
37k is made up of 67% streams, 33% downloads.
so something like 24,790 from streams + 12,210 from downloads (idk the exact sales figure apart from 37k rn!)
3 top 10 hits (cardigan, exile and the 1)
more top 10 hits than both rep and lover had in the UK + the same amount as 1989!!
exile is... actually really good I'm realising recently that I'm a massive fan of male/female duets (three of them have been #1 on my Personal Chart this year) and this is no exception.
823k this done in US, 584k in pure sales! Pretty amazing when it wasn't available to buy instore.
Taylor Swift has flexed her superstar muscle once again. With her surprise album folklore, the Republic icon dropped the year’s biggest debut to date, owning #1 on the HITS Top 50 with 823k. The set earns Swift her largest streaming week ever, with 275m+ on-demand audio streams. It’s also the biggest bow since her 2019 album, Lover (867k), which increased 64% this week and leapt to #15.
Among the records Tay broke with this album: the most first-day album streams by a female artist on Spotify (80.6m); the most streams for a pop album in its first 24 hours on Apple Music (35.5m); and the most U.S. and Global streams at Amazon Music for an Indie/Alternative album.
Earning 584k in pure sales, Swift’s folklore is now the #1 best-selling album in that category.
https://hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=322578&title=CHART-STORY%253A-A-BIG-FOLKIN%2527-DEAL
Amazing news and very well deserved. I was expecting results like this in the US but three top 10s in the U.K. from an album in this genre is fantastic. Excited and intrigued to see how this will do in its second week.
She’s only gone and done it, 16/16 folklore tracks are in the Australian Top 50 including Cardigan at #1!
1 Cardigan
3 Exile
4 The 1
7 The Last Great American Dynasty
8 My Tears Ricochet
13 August
14 Mirrorball
16 Seven
18 This Is Me Trying
19 Invisible String
21 Illicit Affairs
22 Betty
25 Mad Woman
29 Epiphany
33 Peace
43 Hoax
I think exile if pushed could perform similarly to Stay by Rihanna
Also so happy to see she’s #1 in the UK with this.
5 number one albums in a row! Who was last to do that female wise? Was it Madonna when Hard Candy went to #1 in 2008?
Australia she's the f***ing queen there *.* (after pink ofc)
Speaking of the 5 #1 albums in a row comment I made. I think her and Madonna could be the only females who’ve done it consecutively! I know Kylie who’s on 7 #1s hasn’t had five in a row and I don’t think Streisand has either.
What an achievement really hope this is her first UK chart topper to spend more than it’s debut week there I definitely think even if we’re #2 this week we could go back to #1 next.
I think August is my favourite song off the album, it’s absolutely stunning. Just lyrically and musically perfect. I can’t believe she had released this stunning album, I didn’t she could ever match 1989 but I think she has. Such a talent.
US:
#1 cardigan
#4 the 1
#6 exile
#13 the last great american dynasty
#16 my tears ricochet
#23 august
#26 mirrorball
#35 seven
#37 invisible string
#39 this is me trying
#42 betty
#44 illicit affairs
#47 mad woman
#57 epiphany
#58 peace
#71 hoax
Will update as we find out more!
Previous post updated
I think now she will be > hundred top 100 hits in the US
The evil (Nicki) is (temporarily) defeated
Pretty sad to see 'epiphany' so low down on the Hot 100, I know it's because it's late on the tracklist etc. but it underperformed even that due to 'betty' ending up so high. Boo. x On the other hand my other three big standouts all overperformed their tracklist order ~ 'august' in particular seems to have done really well relative to where it was on the tracklist!
Tuesday midweeks:
14. cardigan
24. exile
32. the 1
fab to see cardigan set to get another week top 15
albums:
2. folklore (6.8k)
that's a 2k increase on yesterday so I think we're looking of a 2nd week between 13-15k!! Lover's 2nd week was just under 17k so that is INCREDIBLE considering there's zero physicals rn
I knew Cardigan was gonna climb back, people were a bit paranoid in the First Mids thread
I was expecting about 12K for Folklore but was counting streams only, forgot she also has good downloads
Could have been #1 easily but Fontaines are quite popular right now, I was expecting around 20K for them
I'm so excited for Friday, when I can spam this at work every day! *.*
also first HDD numbers for next week are out! they're projecting 125-135k (20-25k sales) which will be enough for a 2nd week at #1 *.* lover flopping again in comparison!
Ooh! So we could get a second consecutive week at #1 then with this news?
I’ve listened to this album again today and it remains brilliant. I definitely think this is the best album she’s ever done.
2020 really has been quite a good year for music tbh literally the main saving grace of the year.
I’d say everything on this album is at least a 7 (that’s what I’d rank my least fave) super strong through it and I’m still finding out new lyrics, melodies and little intricate things on each listen too.
mirrorball is the one what really hit me today
I hope this doesn’t cost her a 2nd week at #1... She could be too far behind this week but then not sell enough physicals next week to get the #1 again cause of the spilt sales
some people have started getting their physicals so hopefully we should be hearing the lakes soon!!
lyrics to the lakes are now out (confirmed it's produced/written by Taylor & Jack), expecting a leak either tonight or tomorrow at the latest
Omg if she ends up being #1 on Friday after being so far behind all week Fontaines would be fuming
What’s the release schedule for next week? If for some reason she doesn’t end up at #1 with physicals this week could she get there next week?
ofc the lakes leaks the one night I'm out fml
I like it on first listen but it sounds like something that'll grow really quickly!
Thursday midweeks:
14. cardigan
23. exile
30. the 1
hopefully all 3 will stay top 30!
albums:
2. folklore (12.9k)
looks like folklore could be close to Lover's 2nd week which was 16.9k!!
I am pretty sure this figure doesn't include 90% of the physicals purchased from her store, I'd be shocked if it is lol
I wish they’d add her store physicals. Hopefully they get added tomorrow abit like Selena and 5SOS
Well hopefully that means week three sales will also be strong
Has anyone elses actually been shipped yet? Mine haven't!
Mine’s been shipped now!!! 🥰🥰 I’m so ready to have a physical copy of this <3
Hopefully y’all will have your copies shipped soon aha
Two out of eight of my copies were shipped.
Mine shipped at 9pm last night, I wonder if that means it will be counted in todays chart
My CD arrived today!!
Mine have arrived too and they’re so beautiful!!! 🥰🥰
(Time to download the lakes onto my laptop/spotify x)
do you guys think we'll have the #1 album this week?
I’d love to listen to the lakes - I actually don’t have a CD player so haven’t bought the cds! I’ll have to try and find somewhere to listen to it.
I guess the number one depends how many of those early release CDs are added this week compared to next?
I got an email telling me my copy had been shipped at 1AM and then received it at 9. Not bad service that
Excited to listen to 'The Lakes' later.
I shall wait with anticipation for the result
She did it!! It says 2 weeks at #1
https://www.officialcharts.com/search/albums/folklore/
#1
Taylor's first album to spend more than one week at #1 on the album chart!! <3
Is a third week at #1 likely? I guess we’ll know when we see how many physicals are sold this week
no sales yet but 3.5k ahead of Fontaines
Fontaines were on 17.5k on the last update and were selling about 1k a day so I'm guessing they ended up around 18.5k
folklore has to be over 21k (+3.5k of Fontaines Thursday) but under 23k (I don't believe it was certified silver) so I'm guessing around ~22k haha
The vinyls aren't shipping till November At least we will get a sales boost then
So happy that she’s still #1!!
Hopefully she’ll manage a third week stop the charts next week.
I guess I'm not getting my two shipped copies in the mail today. Maybe tomorrow or Monday.
22,550 sales 5.5k above Lover's 2nd week! 8,330 physicals
not this being 400 copies short of going silver this week, a messT
This is awesome news
Here’s hoping for 3 weeks - third times a charm and all that. If it seems that some physical sales will be counted in next weeks sales then here’s hoping.
where all the tracks are this week if they were chart eligible:
14. cardigan
21. exile
31. the 1
40. the last great american dynasty
46. my tears ricochet
50. august
54. mirrorball
56. seven
60. this is me trying
62. illicit affairs
63. invisible string
65. betty
80. mad woman
89. epiphany
95. peace
hoax isn't top 100 (and is quite a bit off, it'd be around ~115)
if it was on SCR, Love Story would be 64th
All my favorites toward the bottom...
I think I'm settling on this being my album ranking now after a couple weeks:
1. epiphany (untouchable)
2. cardigan
3. my tears ricochet
4. seven
5. the last great american dynasty
6. mirrorball
7. exile
8. august
9. Betty
10. the 1
11. mad woman
12. this is me trying
13. the lakes
14. illicit affairs
15. hoax
16. invisible string
17. peace
that 4-7 section is SO close. 8-10 are close. 14 to 16 are SO close as well. ahhhh
was also thinking that, besides the vinyl, the cassettes had a different release day, didn't they? cannot find it now but I thought I saw a different shipment day than vinyls...so we could see another bump when those cassettes go out
Album of the week on Radio 2! Probably not do much but anything is better than nothing
Got my copies today
number #1 in America for a 2nd week with 135k a fab hold and next week should def be 3 figures, possibly an increase due to the target/in store physicals *.* <3
More weeks at 1 than Lover!
Of Folklore’s second-week units, SEA units comprise 102,000 (down 53%), album sales total 30,000 (down 95%) and TEA units equal 3,000 (down 81%).
981,000 total units and will pass 1mil asap
#1 in the midweeks 600 copies ahead of 2nd (Glass Animals)
Hopefully she'll hold on and we get that third week at #1
I’m optimistic we will do this if she’s already at #1 in the midweeks it’ll likely just extend the lead it already has hopefully!
6,700 sales whew!
some physicals definitely shipped for this week's chart then considering last Monday's update was 4,680 and streaming is lower this week!
Lover did 11,459 3rd week. Lover had 4.1k on its 3rd Monday update so I'm guessing this week we'll end up in the ~14-18k zone
This is amazing. Can’t believe it is doing so well! Clearly the impromptu release (plus the amazing reviews) have really worked!
US 2nd week:
08 01 01 02 Taylor Swift - cardigan
23 04 04 02 Taylor Swift ‒ the 1
36 06 06 02 Taylor Swift feat. Bon Iver ‒ exile
66 13 13 02 Taylor Swift ‒ the last great american dynasty
69 16 16 02 Taylor Swift ‒ my tears ricochet
73 23 23 02 Taylor Swift ‒ august
85 37 37 02 Taylor Swift ‒ invisible string
91 42 42 02 Taylor Swift ‒ betty
93 26 26 02 Taylor Swift ‒ mirrorball
98 35 35 02 Taylor Swift ‒ seven
the other six fell out.
Pretty great on the whole def wasn't expecting that many songs to last!! It's interesting whilst the UK's 2nd week most the tracks were still in trackless order, the US has really gone out of tracklist order! invisible string in 7th was a surprise to me betty also unsurprisingly climbing into 8th! <3
in comparison this was lover's 2nd week:
12 04 02 12 Taylor Swift ‒ You Need To Calm Down (with f***ing dull Lewis Capaldi 11th both times with songs that took 9000 years to take off in the US)
23 10 10 03 Taylor Swift ‒ Lover
54 11 02 20 Taylor Swift feat. Brendon Urie ‒ ME!
61 23 23 02 Taylor Swift ‒ The Man
71 29 29 02 Taylor Swift ‒ Cruel Summer
74 28 28 02 Taylor Swift ‒ I Forgot That You Existed
everything else dropped out so slay folklore!
'epiphany' and 'exile' are career highlights, with 'cardigan' and 'seven' not far behind.
Do you guys have any idea why Taylor is not huge in the rest of Europe? She's doing fantastic in the UK and Ireland, but in other markets like France, Germany, Italy and the Scandinavian countries she's just not that big.
I can’t wait to listen to this album in Autumn and Winter, I feel like it’ll sound even better
I get that it was released in July because it was recorded during lockdown but it really doesn’t feel like a summer album at all
This is now my favourite non Gaga album of the year so far!
I still can’t get enough of it as a whole piece. I love how she just didn’t hype this up didn’t even do any promo before hand just literally released with an announcement hours before. The music speaks for itself though.
It’ll be so hard for her to beat this album for me now id love her to do some sort of intimate type tour purely just for this record the tracks would work so well in that setting (obv when it’s safe to do so etc).
#1 again
3 weeks at #1 yasssss <3 absolutely incredible!! the way this is slaying *.*
6k ahead of 2nd! official sales probs at 5:45 aha, hoping for 15k+ <3
15,539 3rd week so total sales are just over 75k, fabulous!
4k above lover's 3rd week and only like 6k under Lover's sales at this point to date!
first album to spend 3 weeks at #1 this decade I think Probs the last week at #1, v. likely Biffy Clyro & Burna Boy will be ahead next week I'd say
Dua had more than 3 weeks at #1 this year but I don’t think they were all consecutive like Taylor’s.
Have I said how much I love this album yet?
Dua still takes the cake for #1 album of the year for me but folklore is VERY VERY close and both are way ahead of any competition
P!nk was the last female album to get three weeks at #1 in a row (I think!) until folklore.
weirdly enough that was also her first album to get more than one week at #1 too
4.1k in today's update, which is the exact same as Lover's 3rd week update! lover did 11,459 in its 3rd week so I'm guessing that'll be around what folklore manages this week!
It's 5th in today's update but should easily be 3rd by tomorrow, could claim 2nd but #1 is impossible
back at 2 in the midweeks! Looks like the sales are gonna be nearly identical to Lover's 4th week!
prayer circle that exile will be top 40 tomorrow ahh
btw to American Swifties, signed copies of folklore are now available in independent record stores!! Taylor shipped copies to them for free to help keep these stores alive
My friend has ordered the "meet me behind the mall" version of the CD and her order is still "pending". Is this the same for anyone else who has ordered that CD? Idg why her copy hasn't been shipped yet? :\
Sorry for the questions But have you emailed them/tried to get in touch? Have they replied? My friend has tried and unlike me (I ordered the wrong vinyl and wanted to swap it for the correct one) she hasn't received a reply :\
They put signed copies on her website (US only of course) Ignoring the singles, the label aren't playing this era, 5th week at #1 incoming
#2 in the UK this week Fabulous as BC we're 100% going to be #1 this week so I'm glad she managed to stay ahead of Sea Girls! If only Biffy Clyro's album came out when it was originally meant to
This is now Taylor's album to spend the (joint) most weeks in the top 3 already! It's spent 4 weeks top 3, which matches 1989! Ofc it's already her album with the most weeks top 2 (1989 was previously top with 2 weeks).
This equals Red's amount of weeks in the top 10 this week. Next week it'll equal reputation and the week after lover as long as it stays in! Insane *.*
I'm hopeful they'll put some signed copies on the UK at some point because I'd argue we are her 2nd most important market. They might be waiting for a quiet week to grab another week at #1 (early September possibly)
10,552 sold this week, great to see it still over 10k after a month
fab to see it over 10k again Was lowkey hoping it'd be over 11k tho, esp considering it's been following Lover's 3rd week nearly exactly all week and that finished on 11.5k ahh haha!
This spends its 4th week at #1 in america!
First female since Adele "25" to spend its first 4 weeks at #1
Also sold over 100k again
https://www.billboard.com/articles/business/chart-beat/9438746/taylor-swift-folklore-no-1-fourth-week-billboard-200-albums-chart
Just caught up on all this. So happy she’s going so well. Didn’t have the chance to listen to the album much while away but back on it now. Although I will say that listening to the lakes while walking through the country was the best sound track for it - loved it. Also, some of the tracks I didn’t appreciate before coming forwards for me.
To be on a par with Adele with regards to the amount of weeks debuting @ number 1 is awesome. I defo think this can can break album records in the U.K. in terms of chart positions.
Go Taylor
I finally got all of my copies in the mail yesterday.
My god, you guys! We already have Taylor's first appearance in Folklore era!!!
Taylor Swift Made a Surprising Virtual Appearance on Bestie Selena Gomez’s Cooking Show
https://www.arentyouawesome.com/post/taylor-swift-made-appearance-on-selenas-cooking-show
UK this week:
Monday - #4 (3.1k)
Tuesday - #4 (4k)
Wednesday - #3 (5.4k)
Looks like we should have another week top 3 It could sneak #2, I'd say it's touch and go whether it'll manage to overtake Erasure. Also Pop Smoke could be a threat.
Still holding on fab though and will outdo lover again, which did 7,084 in its 5th week
Finishes the week at #3, yay for another week in the top 3 Pop Smoke did overtake in the end but Taylor managed to overtake Erasure! Ofc no sales yet but should be over 8k!
equals Rep's total amount of time in the top 10 + is now her album with the most weeks in the top 3!
Urgh would have loved another week at #2, I bet it was really close!
I'm lowkey worried about next week, I hope it can stay top 10!
I'm expecting all the following to definitely be ahead:
Gregory Porter
Katy Perry
Disclosure
Pop Smoke
Metalica
and I think all these could be ahead too:
Dua Lipa
Nines
PVRIS
The Killers
hopefully there's not 1 more album that comes out of nowhere + the killers continue to fall quickly ahh
#1 for a 5th week in America
98k sold! Wish it managed another week +100k but still utterly incredible 1.316m in total! *.* now tracking ahead of Lover in the US as well
5 weeks at number 1 is incredible. To think I didn’t even know this existed less than 2 months ago. The album absolutely deserves this - it’s a lyrical masterpiece intelligently written.
#8 in today's midweeks so we should be good for another week top 10 tf!
5 new entries above it (all in the top 5 - metallica/Gregory/nines/discloscure/katy) + pop smoke and the killers are ahead
Top 10 again is great! I wish it was #1.
'This is Me Trying' is so lovely.
this should be going gold today :folklore:
also looking set for a 6th week at #1 in the US!!!! (I think that'll be it consecutively, it has a chance for a 7th week and 8th week is out of the question)
Congratulations to her! If she makes #1 in the US again, I think she will be breaking another record! I am hoping!
i've really fallen in love with "seven" recently, and a lot of it has to do with the line "i hit my peak at seven feet, with pennsylvania under me". i think it's the first time she's ever mentioned her home state in a song apart from having lived on a christmas tree farm, and imo it really grounds the song in her personal history. it doesn't take place in the back of a pickup truck in a southern backroad or in new york or on a new england beach, it's just her on a swing where she grew up, which is none of those places. i've lived a good part of my life not far from where she grew up, and the whole visual aesthetic album just screams pennsylvanian countryside too, the whole cloudy appalachian feel of it.
#1 for sixth week! https://variety.com/2020/music/news/taylor-swift-nmber-one-sixth-week-folklore-chart-katy-perry-metallica-1234761497/?ocid=uxbndlbing
Tying Whitney Houston!
https://people.com/music/taylor-swift-ties-whitney-houston-billboard-charts/?ocid=uxbndlbing
She’s amazing. I’m loving this
Source: Headline Planet
Taylor Swift’s “folklore” enjoys a sixth consecutive week atop the Billboard 200 album chart, giving the artist the longest run at #1 since Drake’s “Views” enjoyed 9 consecutive (and 13 total) weeks atop the chart in 2016.
Swift albums, moreover, have spent a cumulative 46 weeks atop the Billboard 200 chart. She ties Whitney Houston for most weeks at #1 among female artists.
“folklore” also becomes the fifth Swift album to spend at least six weeks at #1. Only The Beatles spent at least six weeks at #1 with more than five separate albums (twelve, in fact).
In addition to celebrating the US success, Republic Records notes that the album is nearing 3 million worldwide consumption units (album sales or equivalent units from track sales or track streams) and 2 billion streams. It has not even been available for two months.
Wow! What an amazing record to get in the US.
This album really does deserve everything. It’s brilliant.
Hopefully the album will remain inside the UK top ten this week too.
In love with 'Illicit Affairs'.
Love this album, any news on a vinyl release?
Back in the top 5 this week
so with this album being nearly 2 months old now, what's everyone's thoughts?
I'm pretty confident that this is my favourite Taylor album now and easily makes up my holy trinity of folklore-reputation-speak now
My album ranking nowadays is probs like this:
Untouchable top 2:
1. epiphany
2. cardigan
I honestly think cardigan could overtake soon it's so damn perfect
perfection:
3. the last great american dynasty
4. my tears ricochet
5. exile (ft. Bon Iver)
6. seven
7. august
8. mirrorball
9. betty
a good music video + a push soon and exile can def move up to 3rd, it's v. close there. august has been hitting me so hard over the last week or two <3 and Betty def gets a boost from its live performance <3
perfection pt. 2:
10. the 1
(oops at this having a category of its own rn, august has outgrown this now and Betty would've been here until tonight oops!)
I stan so much but ngl my top 10 is dead set:
11. this is me trying
12. mad woman
these 2 are v. interchangeable depending on my mood
I love but the others are better:
13. the lakes
14. invisible string
15. illicit affairs
I've kind of cooled on the lakes over the last couple weeks after thinking it'd crack my top 10 after the first week of its release!! oops
I love but they're the ones I go back to least by far:
16. hoax
17. peace
HDD released the top 50 albums of the year so far and folklore is already in 6th place it's sold 1,404,000 and I think it could have a chance of top 3 with another couple boosts
880k pure sales, highest of the year obvs and hope it passes 1mil soon!!
in other Taylor albums news, Lover is 28th in YTD (670,000) & has spent over a year in the top 50 (ahead of rep and equaling red) and 1989 has now spent 300 weeks on the hot 200
a record store in Edinburgh sold signed CD's today I really hope more happen in the UK!
also #6 this week in the UK!
chart-run: 01-01-01-02-03-08-05-06 (8wks)
previous albums weeks top 10/top 40:
Selftitled - 0 weeks top 40
Fearless - 1wk top 10 / 12wks top 20 / 17wks top 40
Speak Now - 1wk top 10 / 3wks top 40
Red - 4wks top 10 / 18wks top 20 / 44wks top 40
1989 - 15wks top 5 / 43wks top 10 / 61wks top 20 / 88wks top 40
reputation - 5wks top 10 / 20wks top 20 / 34wks top 40
Lover - 6wks top 10 / 12wks top 20 / 41wks top 40
top 5 - 9wks off 1989 atm, beat everything else
top 10 - it's beaten everything but 1989, probs not gonna get near
top 20 - so far beat self titled & SN
so next up is Fearless/Lover 12wks in the top 20
This is quite tricky but here goes:
Perfection:
Last great American dynasty
Exile
Cardigan
Epiphany
Good:
Invisible string
Betty
The lakes
My tears really ricochet
This is me trying
Illicit affairs
The 1
Good but not quite as good:
mirrorball
August
Mad women
Seven
Peace
Hoax
Let me try that
Perfection:
Exile
Betty
August
Close to perfection:
The Lakes
My Tears Ricochet
Great:
The 1
Illicit Affairs
Mirrorball
Good:
Seven
Peace
This Is Me Trying
Cardigan
Mad Woman
The Last Great American Dynasty
Meh:
Invisible String
Epiphany
Ew:
Hoax
Ouch, my poor, beautiful hoax.
Poor hoax
She's going to perform at the Billboard Music Awards on October 14.
the leaked line-up seems to be untrue (it was a Portuguese commercial during the Emmy's last night), it seems to be a playlist with those artists on promoting the billboard music awards rather than the artists performing! Esp Ed Sheeran makes no sense as he has nothing out atm.
Tho I do think she'll perform whatever tho, hopefully we'll get a proper announcement soon!
Maybe we will get another performance of betty.
predicted to return to #1 in the US with around 85k sold! terrific to see, it'll be the album's 7th week at #1 if it happens
I hope it happens!
#1 for a 7th week in the US!!! 87k sales (iirc), insane and also this means she is now the female artist with the most weeks at #1 ever on the billboard 200 with 47 weeks (new thread time x)
passed 1bil streams today the slayage Taylor now has the most female solo albums above 1 billion streams!
shame its set to drop out of the top 10 in the UK this week would've been fab to have 10 consecutive weeks top 10 Hopefully the era will get more of a push as we hit October again!
I contributed to those streams.
This albums hits even HARDER when drunkk omg
Especially mirror ball WHEW
Any rumors if we get another single or is the album already done?
yay this is top 20 again this week 11th consecutive week
Fab to see it just hold on after being outside the top 20 all week + 11 new entries above it!!
So impressive she just hung on in the top 20! What a climber from the midweeks but so deserved.
I’m happy at the longevity this has had considering it was a surprise drop and she’s never released this way before I was curious to see how she’d do after the initial buzz but longevity has been great to her as usual. She’s probed herself to be a really consistent seller now ever since Red (I mean Fearless also counts in that list too but Speak Now wasn’t huge in the UK but she really become a force here from Red onwards).
Do we have any idea of the total UK sales to date? I'm hoping this and Lover can go platinum eventually
Her store had more signed copies of folklore.
I like the little blurb she wrote on Facebook:
"Along with the signed cd, some lucky purchasers of these items may even receive complimentary cat hair stuck inside the pages. Or the aromatic scent of white wine I occasionally spill while signing."
I want that!
Plus, look at this cutie.
https://www.facebook.com/TaylorSwift/photos/a.10151999693490369/10158211208945369/?type=3&eid=ARAH1vKb4ghhoMz3RVTfhfqmg0jeb-Lz6L5GdKhJMiB_-q-UKsAx4Thw-zJ4G2zUJmDp1LYZzzVo-rF6&__tn__=EEHH-R
That red vinyl sounds nice!
Do you think Taylor will release a new album in 2021? Maybe she's got nothing better to do these days than writing and recording, so we'll get another surprise drop sooner or later.
Who knows! If you asked me in 2019 if we’d have had one in 2020 I’d have said no but then we ended up getting folklore which is her best work!
I’d will probably say no though. I do think surprise drops will be her thing now.
omg not this set to return to #1 this week in America this week
