Jaymes Mansfield- BOOT

Posted by: Tinasha Feb 2 2017, 09:27 PM

Do we think Kimora will be the bitch of the season?

Posted by: Davidson Feb 2 2017, 10:10 PM

I cannot stand Kimora already.

Her meet the queens video gave me such Gia Gunn.

Posted by: Leonardo Feb 3 2017, 01:07 AM

Feeling cautiously optimistic about this cast as much as you can be with the "Meet The Queens" videos. Glad that they have their first Brit and first contestant to be going into the contest as openly trans.

Posted by: RobBob Feb 3 2017, 03:44 AM

Kimora Blac giving me vague Gia Gunn teas aswell... and quite the opposite to Davidson, this is precisely why I'm living for her already.

And maybe just slightly because of this, sorry to be shallow but not really

Posted by: Regina Feb 3 2017, 04:47 PM

OMG Charlie Hides *.*winner of Snatch Game already decided.

Posted by: Cucumberella Feb 3 2017, 06:54 PM

first openly trans contestant is great, about time!!!

kimora is visually GREAT - i love the overblown doll look but jesus she is boring as f***! love sasha velour's personality, shea coulee is gonna be IT this season (even tho i think she'll still be quite green) and theres a few other fun ones

jaymes mansfield has to be one of the weirdest contestant on there so far so im intrigued???

Posted by: Cucumberella Feb 3 2017, 07:03 PM

ps everyone is saying farrah moan looks like courtney act but i actually thought she was christina applegates DOUBLE

Posted by: Liаm Feb 3 2017, 07:22 PM

Farrah Moan might be my fave drag name ever omg

Posted by: DiamondHeart Feb 4 2017, 05:00 PM

Loving AJA and Jaymes Mansfield from the mini interviews.

Posted by: travis Feb 4 2017, 05:04 PM

Makes sense she's well painted, because I've heard she comes in like she's a contestant (I'm guessing she might have something covering her face) and then Ru reveals who she is. Which is amazing.

Also, judging by the very slight height difference between her and Ru in that picture, I'm guessing she's got on some KILLER heels, because Ru normally towers over her.

Posted by: Conderella Feb 11 2017, 06:24 AM

So this is coming in MARCH.

damnit still too long to wait!

Yay!

Let's hope Season 8 makes an appearance soon too.

(+Season 1 and both All Stars)

Posted by: Davidson Mar 25 2017, 01:02 AM

Enjoyed the first episode. I wish we got more time to get to know the queens, was pretty hard when it was all about the pageant.

How the hell Eureka was top 3 I shall never know. Charlie and Trinity killed it, should have been those two and Nina in the top 3 for this episode.

Jaymes was the only one who stood out as the obvious weak link.

Posted by: Tinasha Mar 25 2017, 09:18 AM

Rushed mess, it should have been a longer episode like last year for the first one. Why wasn't Ru in drag? Why was he stage so small they were all about to start falling off it? What is that shit studio about? Why could I see the judges legs?

Who's back though?

Posted by: Davidson Mar 25 2017, 12:13 PM

It is clearly Cynthia that is back. Only she would wear that awful wig.

Posted by: Liаm Mar 25 2017, 03:34 PM

Yeah it's definitely her I think! I think she was a bit overrated tbh but eh.

I agree with Joe about the episode, it was good but felt a bit rushed because it was only the standard 40 minutes and once we'd met the girls and had the pageant that was it. No bottom 2/3, not enough time to get to know them (although I already know Farrah is my fave), it just felt a bit rushed. But it does seem like a good cast and I enjoyed it, especially being a Gaga episode wub.gif I loved the homage to all her iconic looks and it was so sweet to see her loving all her tribute and generally being such a sweetheart. Jaymes the only weak link for me too, laughably so really and seems like an obvious first boot but obviously with Drag Race anyone can pull anything off the next week laugh.gif

Posted by: Regina Mar 25 2017, 06:39 PM

I'm here for Charlie from now until the end of time *.*

Posted by: RobBob Mar 25 2017, 07:39 PM

I liked this episode as an introduction! I often get a feeling with these first eliminees that they have more to show and as you guys say, Jaymes would've been in serious trouble if there was a bottom 2 and I'd definitely have felt like we weren't getting to see all that she's about in that case. It was more of an Episode 0 than an Episode 1, like an extended Meet The Queens of sorts and it's helped me established some of my favourites without seeing all of them.

Can't be arsed with f***ing Cucu returning though, not sure why they seem to think there was demand for that as lovely as she was, but maybe I'll be proven wrong (that is assuming it's her anyway).

Ranking after Episode 1 (not just based on challenge but my whole feeling for them with the series ahead):

1. Nina Bonina Brown
2. Charlie Hides
3. Sasha Velour
4. Shea Coulee
5. Valentina
6. Kimora Blac
7. Aja
8. Jaymes Mansfield (I can feel myself really rooting for her to overcome her nerves and messiness)
9. Eureka
10. Peppermint
11. Farrah Moan
12. Alexis Michelle
13. Trinity Taylor

Posted by: Tinasha Mar 25 2017, 08:11 PM

Surely it can't be Cynthia back, I know she's one of the ones speculated but she already won Miss Congeniality, she wasn't an episode 1 elimine.

Posted by: RobBob Mar 25 2017, 09:03 PM

I can't see how that person is anyone else, she's the only one who would wear such a short rassy ass wig who has been speculated. I'm sure they'll justify it by the fact she had cancer through the last series so this time, she means BUSINESS or something. Fair play for that reasoning but I just don't think she's that good and this series seem like it could be real strong, more so than last year.

Posted by: Casahovah Mar 25 2017, 10:28 PM

Idk if it's just because of the shadows/lighting but, like, the fourteenth queen looked a bit more...black than Cynthia.

Posted by: Tinasha Mar 25 2017, 10:45 PM

Yeah, the 14th queen looked black to me too. Why are we doing spoiler tags for speculation we have no idea about?

Posted by: Tinasha Mar 25 2017, 10:47 PM

It doesn't look like itd ever be her but Liela McQueen would have been a good one to bring back.

Finally got to watch this. My boyfriend wanted to wait until it got subtitled in Spanish. So yesterday was quite an excruciating day! :')

I agree this felt a bit rushed with only 40 mins but i didn't care as long as Gaga was there really.

Posted by: Slick Mar 26 2017, 09:35 AM

I really enjoyed the first episode. GaGa was perfect. I hope the 14th contestant isn't hugely disappointing. I'm never usually impressed by the queens they bring back.

Posted by: PaulM1983 Mar 26 2017, 12:32 PM

Gaga was as brilliant as I'd expected. She looked absolutely flawless serving CEO-realness during the judging too.

If you haven't already you need to watch Untucked. She goes backstage with her big notebook and gives notes to every contestant. It's hugely charming and she's so sweet and encouraging, but honest.

Posted by: RobBob Mar 26 2017, 12:51 PM

Some are saying it's Chi Chi, I would love that but she got so far last season I wouldn't see the point in her returning.

Posted by: Tinasha Mar 26 2017, 03:16 PM

I adore ChiChi but they won't be bringing back someone who made it to 4th or 5th place. Save her for All Stars 3.

Posted by: Liаm Mar 26 2017, 03:28 PM

Chi Chi is one of the most overrated queens ever. No thanks. I'm not sure they would or should bring back someone who got that far anyway, I agree save her for All Stars 3.

peppermint is such a bloody sweetheart!

Posted by: RobBob Mar 26 2017, 04:32 PM

I WILL NOT HAVE A BAD WORD SAID ABOUT CHI CHI sad.gif Adore her.

But yeah, I can't budge from my idea this is Cynthia, I just can't see how it's anyone else.

Posted by: Adam Mar 27 2017, 04:55 AM

I took it as confirmation it was Cynthia too, especially being shot 'from the Cucu'. Thought the first episode was a bit underwhelming but the first episode is always hard as you don't know anyone yet.. looking forward to watching again. Gaga was wonderful.

Posted by: blacksquare Mar 27 2017, 09:23 AM

In nine years has any other guest judge put in as much time and care as Gaga? Really wonderful.

Also Nina >>>

Posted by: Adam Mar 27 2017, 09:24 AM

I watched it again and came out with Peppermint, Eureka, Alexis and Nina as favourites.

Posted by: Tinasha Mar 27 2017, 09:32 AM

I feel like Eureka is very talented and could easily be the first "Big girl" to win. She seems very quick witted and will probably going to slay the comedy and acting challenges the same way Ginger and Darienne Lake did, bit it looks like she could hold her own on the runway, too. Hopefully she doesn't go too bitchy, because that'll cost her, the way I think it did for Ginger in the end.

Posted by: Regina Mar 27 2017, 09:40 AM

I'm really not liking Eureka sad.gif here for Charlie, Peppermint, Nina and Farrah tbh.

Posted by: Conderella Mar 27 2017, 05:03 PM

Eureka is such a shady bitch! But oh well they always need a bitch each season.

Posted by: Liаm Mar 27 2017, 08:16 PM

Yeah I feel like Eureka might go too far into that lane and end up like Ginger. It's somewhat amusing for now that there is someone who's gonna stir things like that, but it does get old quite quickly, if she is gonna carry on like that.

Posted by: Jack Mar 27 2017, 09:21 PM

Eureka is so f***ing annoying, shut the f*** up and let other people speak!

Posted by: Davidson Mar 27 2017, 11:24 PM

Ranking after episode uno:

1. Shea Coulee
2. Charlie Hides
3. Peppermint (love her personality, think she can do much better than this week)
4. Sasha Valour
5. Nina Bo'Nina Brown (continuing to grow on me)
6. Farrah Moan
7. Alexis Michelle
8. Valentina
9. Trinity Taylor (still don't completely feel her but her looks were fab)
10. Aja (was one of my pre-season favs but she's starting to annoy me now)
11. Kimora Blac
12. Eureka O'Hara (trying to be shady but without any wit)
13. Jaymes Mansfield

My early prediction for the top 4 is Shea, Sasha, Nina and Peppermint btw.

Posted by: Tinasha Mar 28 2017, 08:46 AM

This week's episode looks really good from the little trailer. I feel like it'll be a lot better with a proper challenge (Cheer-leading!) and Lisa Kudrow!

Posted by: Lukuzz Mar 28 2017, 09:33 AM

I'd currently rank them like this -

1. Charlie Hides
2. Nina Bo'Nina Brown
3. Shea Coulee
4. Valentina
5. Trinity Taylor
6. Kimora Blac
7. Peppermint
8. Eureka O'Hara
9. Sasha Valour
10. Alexis Michelle
11. Aja
12. Farrah Moan
13. Jaymes Mansfield

I'm actually loving the majority of them so far. I feel like Jaymes is out of her depths but she is so sweet I would love to she her to come out of her shell next week. Farrah is stunning but lacking in umph and personality. Currently adoring Charlie, Nina, Shea and Valentina ❤

Posted by: Addy K!ng Mar 28 2017, 06:46 PM

01. Nina Bo'Nina Brown - OMFG I hope she continues to slay with her looks wub.gif
02. Shea Coulee - wub.gif she is amazing.
03. Peppermint - seems to be someone who doesn't show off but has a lot to offer...big personality also wub.gif
04. Valentina - love her drag look!
05. Sasha Valour
-------------------------
06. Aja
07. Charlie Hides
08. Alexis Michelle
09. Farrah Moan
10. Kimora Blac - I was disappointed, hopefully she has something else to offer other than boobs and ass!!!
11. Eureka O'Hara
12. Trinity Taylor - There is just something about her that makes me dislike...her drag face is so mean and bitchy lol.
13. Jaymes Mansfield

Posted by: RobBob Mar 28 2017, 07:00 PM

I'm so rooting for Jaymes Mansfield to surprise people next week, I'd feel sad if she went first even though she does seem out of her depth & a lot less polished.

Posted by: Cucumberella Mar 28 2017, 09:27 PM

i love jaymes on youtube etc! sad.gif i hope she comes out of her shell she's v crafty

Posted by: Adam Mar 29 2017, 04:24 PM

I've watched Untucked and the carpool videos and now I feel ready to give some kind of order

01. Nina Bo'nina Brown
02. Peppermint
03. Shea Coulee
04. Eureka O'Hara
05. Alexis Michelle
06. Jaymes Mansfield
07. Charlie Hides
08. Farrah Moan
09. Sasha Velour
10. Valentina
11. Trinity Taylor
12. Kimora Blac
13. Aja

I do think both Sasha and Valentina are better queens than some above them, but I haven't warmed to their personalities yet. Conversely, Jaymes is far worse but I'm rooting for her.

Posted by: Leonardo Mar 29 2017, 05:11 PM

My inital ranking, bear in mind, personality/aesthetic will have the strongest impact until next week's challenge.

1. Valentina
2. Nina Bo'Nina Brown
3. Alexis Michelle
4. Peppermint
5. Charlie Hides
6. Shea Coulee
7. Trinity Taylor
8. Farrah Moan
9. Eureka O'Hara
10. Kimora Blac
11. Aja
12. Sasha Valour
13. Jaymes Mansfield

Also bear in mind I don't dislike any of them, just find Sasha a tad overrated and Jaymes too meek.

Posted by: Davidson Apr 1 2017, 01:25 AM

Was not really feeling Valentina up until now but she is coming across so adorable in the confessionals and slayed both the challenge and the runway. Might have to start stanning.

Also how was Charlie in the bottom?? Did they want her to injure and kill herself? I don't know what else she could do at her age with the challenge that was given. Silliness.

Overall, good episode and correct eliminee despite the challenge being a bit meh. Runway overall was great.

Posted by: Olipurr Apr 1 2017, 08:27 AM

As a viewer I don't think Charlie should have been bottom three, especially when they critiqued her for not being memorable and I don't remember half of the queens in that challenge. Obviously we don't get to see everything the judges do so maybe that had some bearing, but I was slightly disappointed with her considering she probably had one of the easiest "nicknames" to play up and make funny. She could have slurred her words or stumbled all over the place, heck she could even have brought an empty bottle as a prop and pretended to drink during the routine. She did slay the runway though with that demure snow queen look.

She's still my favourite though and I was worried she'd be going because I don't think we saw any of her other looks in the mega-preview video and that normally means they aren't in very long.

If it was based purely on the lip sync I think Jaymes should have been saved, but I understand her going because she definitely wasn't ready.

Posted by: Tinasha Apr 1 2017, 11:30 AM

Absolute lip sync robbery.

Posted by: Davidson Apr 1 2017, 02:39 PM

I can't believe how many people think Jaymes actually won that lip-sync. I must have been watching something completely different to everyone.

The most tragic part was when Jaymes started deliberately getting in Kimora's way and then at the end copied her and fell to the floor straight after she did. Jaymes looked stiff and desperate thoughout.

Posted by: Davidson Apr 1 2017, 02:45 PM

Also love Charlie telling Eureka to shut up on 'Untucked' laugh.gif

It's not facts it's an opinion and my opinion is that Jaymes sold the song a lot better and managed to embody the campy humour whereas Kimora was just kind of flat and too busy trying to look sexy on a song that didn't require that.

That was my take from it. Kimora was almost Miss Fame-esque just like moving her hips and pointing.

"Love Shack" should have been campy as f***, neither did it that well but Jaymes definitely did it better!

I was so annoyed by this! Wanted more Comeback references.

Also I hope Cucu doesn't get too far. She's so annoying and got to the third episode last season and won mrs Congeniality. I don't feel like she's going to be any better, other than being able to afford more expensive outfits.

Posted by: Kye Apr 1 2017, 11:00 PM

I was expecting Jaymes to stay after that lip sync! Ru most definitely was looking at the bigger picture letting Kimora go through. Just can't wait til Aja goes. I'm not liking her at all.

I agree, there's nobody terrible (I think Cynthia is my least fave because legit just SHUT THE f*** UP ABOUT YOUR CUCU) but there's nobody who really steals my attention who I'm stanning. Valentina is probably my favourite too along with Shea and Charlie.

Absolute lip sync robbery.

QUOTE(Tinasha @ Apr 1 2017, 06:02 PM) *
It's not facts it's an opinion and my opinion is that Jaymes sold the song a lot better and managed to embody the campy humour whereas Kimora was just kind of flat and too busy trying to look sexy on a song that didn't require that.

This this this.

Can't believe it's elimination one and they already got it wrong. But i can totally see why they didn't get rid of Kimora. There's more potential there with her.

That Jaymes' Aja joke from untucked KILLED me lmao

And Eureka finally got that 'shut up for a moment' she deserved the entire time she was there *.* Cannot stand her.

Is anyone else having a problem with the editing? They are trying to condense too much content into 40 minutes for VH1.

Yes, and the first two episodes last year were an hour long, which gave us enough time to get to know everyone (there was less queens as well). It was perfect, I'd be so here for all episodes being that long like Project Runway.

Posted by: ✖ ketabréna ✖ Apr 2 2017, 11:33 AM

the lipsync was NOT GOOD!!! jaymes could've REALLY sold that lipsync but she literally didn't look as if she was keeping focus and wasn't even looking in the right place? thats the ONLY thing kimora had on her. it's almost as if jaymes has ADD / aspergers / autism / social anxiety because a LOT of social cues seemed to be missed which would explain her being so out of her element.

Posted by: RobBob Apr 3 2017, 01:11 AM

Ugh, I can't even pretend Jaymes sold the shit out of that lip sync but I'm so gutted for her! She needs to come back next season, she feels like such a fan favourite like Shangela to just go in Episode 1 as an "underdog" and never be seen again.

Fell in love with Valentina majorly this week and she's shot right to the top for me, adorable, stunning, personality. AND OUT OF DRAG TOO. Trinity grew on me a fair bit this week actually, got to see her extend past just something hard-faced (genuinely, her surgery has given her a sour face which just looks so unfriendly).

But let's talk Cynthia. Can we f***ing not?! Every single line she says has "cucu" shoehorned in somewhere and it's SO annoying. She doesn't even have a particularly big cucu. Also, gone right off Kimora, she's clearly trying to play the Gia game but she doesn't have nearly the same likeability to go with it.

Posted by: A🐱🐱y! Apr 4 2017, 05:16 AM

It really sucks that we are getting only 40 minutes...it's just so hard to concentrate on each one of them, besides the ones that are standing out so far in 2 episodes (Nina, Shea, Valentina and Charles).

Anyway, my ranking based on episode 2.

1. Shea Couleé
2. Valentina
3. Charles
4. Nina
5. Peppermint
6. Alexis Michelle
7. Trinity Taylor
8. Farrah Moan
9. Eureka
10. Kimora Blac
11. Cynthia
12. Sasha Velour
13. Aja
14. James Mansfield

Top 5 is really miles ahead above everyone else so far!!!

Posted by: Serg Apr 4 2017, 06:02 PM

Peppermint looks like an early boot so I won't be surprised to see her out on Friday

Posted by: 152chris Apr 4 2017, 06:46 PM

peppermint will make it top 5 EASY

money's on farrah or trinity going next

Posted by: Tinasha Apr 4 2017, 06:48 PM

I think Kimora will go pretty soon tbh

Posted by: Lieowstic🐱 Apr 4 2017, 06:52 PM

Yeah Kimora and Farrah won't last long, Trinity I think will be about midway. Kimora seems to have not much substance other than having an ass and being a bit of bitch laugh.gif Farrah is stunning and was my initial fave for that but she hasn't made much of an impact at all.

Peppermint hasn't even had her main storyline yet (which I won't spoil for those who know more about her) so she won't be gone for a few episodes. It's a strong crowd though, hard to work out early exits.

Posted by: Davidson Apr 5 2017, 12:09 AM

Yeah, my top 5 prediction is:

1. Shea Coulee
2. Nina Bo'Nina Brown
3. Sasha Valour
4. Peppermint
5. Valentina

Obviously just after 2 episodes, so I might be completely off (and Sasha hasn't impressed in the way I expected yet). Even if not in that order, I really do expect those 5 to be the top girls. Would love Charlie to come top 5 too (actually win as she's my ultimate favourite as it stands) but I don't think she is going to last as long as I would hope unfortunately.

Apart from Kimora and CuCu, all the girls are really strong.

Also I can totally see it being Valentina vs. Peppermint for Miss Congeniality, both such sweethearts and so likable.

Posted by: 152chris Apr 5 2017, 08:07 AM

nina (ugh) and valentina i think will be DEFO top 3

then sasha / eureka / shea. tho u all seem to be a lot more convinced by shea than i am so far. from the promo i thought YAS but she's not really given me much so far

Posted by: Lieowstic🐱 Apr 5 2017, 01:19 PM

Valentina is so making top 3. It's ridiculous how strong her drag is considering she hasn't been doing it that long, so I'm so so excited to see how much stronger she gets on top of that as the challenges progress etc.

Posted by: Catderella Apr 5 2017, 07:34 PM

sasha seems like the max/bendela (if she was booted that first time she lipsynced)/milk/thorgy of the season tbh. i.e. gone a bit too early sad.gif

Posted by: Adam Apr 7 2017, 08:28 AM

Okay so before episode three, here's how I rank them

01. Nina Bo'Nina Brown - Definitely the most creative/variety-showing of them all so far and can be so funny. Love her so far.

02. Shea Coulee - The most consistent across the two weeks and smashed the athleticism. One to watch/beat.

03. Peppermint - Just so lovely. I can see she hasn't shown much variety in her looks but I think she looked stunning.

04. Valentina - The surprise, as she irritated me a bit in Untucked last week. I can see the cute schtick getting a little old but there's no denying she smashed this week, looked gorgeous and massively surprised me by bringing personality to the challenge.

05. Eureka - She clearly talks too much and is abrasive but I do think she has talent to back it up and will excel in acting challenges etc.

06. Charlie Hides - Looked stunning on the runway, I hope she doesn't try and blame her age too much. Hope we get to see her funny side soon.

07. Alexis Michelle - Was not a fan of the way she spoke to Jaymes but she seems seasoned and polished generally. I liked her white look.

08. Cynthia Lee Fontaine - Seems to have stepped up her game from last season, the Cucu thing is annoying but she is harmless I think.

09. Trinity Taylor - She was my week one boot from the promos, I was surprised how much she impressed me this week. LOL at her saying she hated heights then being the girl ending up on the ceiling.

10. Sasha Velour - I think she has bags of potential and I actually really liked her look this week, with wig, even though Raja and Raven ragged on it. But I think she has more up her sleeve than we've been allowed to see yet.

11. Farrah Moan - Glimmers of potential, and seemed fairly sweet in Untucked S1, but made little impact,

(Jaymes - showed little excellence but still sad.gif)

12. Aja - I still haven't been convinced that she is a polished queen.

13. Kimora Blac - I enjoyed her bitchy boy 'what are bloomers? it sounds disgusting' better than any drag she's done.

Posted by: Tinasha Apr 8 2017, 07:42 AM

Aja is a f***ing mess. How can they all think she's good? (As in the other queens and her herself). Kimora didn't even know the words but Aja's lip sync came off so desperate.

Posted by: Regina Apr 8 2017, 11:28 AM

Cynthia teaching Kimora about the English language *.*

Posted by: Kye Apr 8 2017, 11:42 AM

Aja's face?! Girl can NOT paint, I agree with Joe she is a mess.

Also.. Farrah's runway look was the worst of them all. Kimora actually looked like a hot jungle princess.

Posted by: DiamondHeart Apr 8 2017, 12:00 PM

Aja's make up is far too harsh I completely agree but I think it comes from her insecurity with acne scarring and only by learning to use the right make up for her skin and skin texture, can she develop. Aja owned that Lip Sync and was so enjoyable compared to last week's, completely reclaimed her place and I hope this push back much like Pearl's in S7 forces her to up her game.

Posted by: RobBob Apr 8 2017, 12:16 PM

What a shit challenge though, I can't say I found anything of them funny and found it all a bit lame really. I also, while not a big fan, felt kinda uncomfortable at how RuPaul and Michelle seemed to be trying to humiliate Kimora all of the time.

Farrah's look was so Derrick Barry but I really really like her sad.gif I find her so endearing and cute. Can't bring myself to properly like Trinity purely because I don't like her face, which I know is harsh because she's clearly talented, her look just puts me off.

As for the lip sync, I think Aja killed it?! I'm not a big fan of her and her make-up is indeed a mess but she turned it out when it mattered. My favourites at the moment, I think would be Nina Bonina, Shea Coulee and admittedly Farrah Moan, against my better judgement. I can see Valentina getting on my nerves with this gaping open mouthed smile before long, but I'm still with her for the time being, while Eureka is actually growing on me.

Posted by: RobBob Apr 8 2017, 12:19 PM

Oh and I'm waiting for Peppermint to really wow me too because I think she has huge potential, just not the challenges to properly show it yet.

Posted by: Oliver 🐱 Apr 8 2017, 12:24 PM

I thought Peppermint looked a bit like Lenaysha Sparks in that fire dress.

Posted by: LexC♀ Apr 8 2017, 12:35 PM

This episode was a real step up from the first two I think, a lot of the safe queens really turned it out to the point where I think some of them were actually better than Peppermint. Farrah totally should have been bottom two for that basic fabric wrap dress but I don't mind so much when we got to see Aja kill that lip sync (Holding Out For A Hero is one of the long list of 'can't believe they've not used this as a LSFYL yet' songs so I was pleased to see that there). Yeah she's a mess but rather a mess than polished beige tbh.

Still all about Nina and Valentina for me. Nina's by far the most creative one and I don't usually go for the young, polished and fishy ones but omfg Valentina is so adorable!

Posted by: Davidson Apr 8 2017, 01:56 PM

Weird decisions all round that episode.

Kimora and Farrah should have been the bottom two for sure. Also Nina and Charlie both deserved to be top 3 with Trinity I think, Nina's look was fantastic and Charlie keeps on getting overlooked. Shea also could have been up there.

I am not really sure what I thought of the episode in all honesty. I always love the design challenges but this one was a little strange. I feel like the challenges this series have been really lackluster so far. At least Aja gave us a great lip sync and also some drama on Untucked, so that made it a little more interesting. She isn't my favourite by any means but at least she is offering us something.

Posted by: Lieowstic🐱 Apr 8 2017, 03:40 PM

I feel the exact same about Farrah, Rob laugh.gif Hers was definitely the weakest look but I was lowkey glad she wasn't bottom becasue she's just so sweet and I love her. I'm glad it was Kimora who went, Aja's runway look was a disaster (one of the worst I can remember) and the lipsync was a bit... desperate but Kimora was coming across as budget Gia Gunn and nothing else for the past two weeks and it was wearing really thin. I wasn't really wowed by anyone this week, there were a fair few great looks I could have put in the top 3 (I'd probably have chosen Trinity, Nina and Charlie also though, maybe Peppermint) but not really one wow this should be the challenge winner look.

I agree about the challenge though, it was ok but it felt like something that would have been the runway theme after an acting challenge rather than an actual challenge in its own right. None of the characters (the actual princess or sidekick) were fleshed out or exciting enough to be the entire episode's focus, so it felt a bit limp...

(also Cheyenne Jackson is daddy af)

Posted by: Davidson Apr 8 2017, 04:18 PM

So my queen rate after this episode:

1. Valentina (was so not feeling her up until last week but this week cemented her as my favourite. she didn't deserve high placement but she is so sweet and likable)
2. Charlie Hides (can she get some recognition plz?)
3. Shea Coulee
4. Nina Bo'Nina Brown
5. Trinity Taylor (the pleasant surprise of the season so far for sure)
6. Peppermint
7. Alexis Michelle
8. Sasha Valour (the biggest disappointment so far, was expecting her to kill the runway but she has been massively pedestrian)
9. Aja
10. Farrah Moan
11. Eureka O'Hara
12. Cynthia Lee Fontaine

I would have put Kimora above Cynthia, Eureka and Farrah. I was at least enjoying her bitchy confessionals.

Posted by: A🐱🐱y! Apr 8 2017, 04:44 PM

I was so disappointed with Kimora Blac leaving so soon:(...I know she is not the most talented and she was just rely on her beauty/booty, but I would want her for at least another 2-3 episodes. Oh well.

My rankings after episode 3:

01. Valentina - My new fave, she is gorgeous
02. Shea Coulee - I just can't stop but adore her, I think it's something about her personality that makes me really really really like her wub.gif
03. Nina Bo'Nina Brown - wub.gif
04. Charlie Hides - I agree, she needs some recognition mama Ru please!!!
05. Peppermint
06. Trinity Taylor - I am slowly starting to recognize her!!!
07. Alexis Michelle
08. Sasha Valour
09. Farrah Moan - she is sweet but can't see her going too far unfortunately!!!
10. Eureka O'Hara - I am trying to like her but I just can't.
11. Aja - she killed the lip-sync but she really looks like a mess!!!
12. Cynthia Lee Fontaine

01 Nina Bo'Nina Brown
02 Valentina
03 Sasha Velour
04 Shea Coulee
05 Charlie Hides
06 Aja (that lip sync)
07 Peppermint
08 Eureka O'Hara
09 Trinity Taylor

Yeah, the editing is so off this season.

Nina & Charlie having about 2 words all episode bugged the shit out of me when they have been doing so well, especially on the runway. They really are editing out some potential front-runners for no reason.

Posted by: Tinasha Apr 10 2017, 12:55 PM

People keep saying the episodes are shorter, but other than the super sized episodes, are they actually shorter than usual? I thought they were always 39/40 minutes?

Posted by: Adam Apr 10 2017, 01:38 PM

I enjoyed some of that episode but it feels like we haven't had a very meaty challenge yet. I hope next week will change that. The Pulse talk was really saddening, I feel so bad for Cynthia the weight she must have on her shoulders that someone went there only to see her sad.gif

In terms of the actual challenge, I largely agreed with the winners/losers. Based just on that, Trinity > Valentina > Eureka > Charlie > Peppermint > Sasha > Nina > Cynthia > Shea > Alexis > Kimora > Farrah > Aja. Valentina continues to surprise me with her comedy, her sidekick was hilarious. Trinity the same, I just did not expect this of her pre-season. Charlie and Eureka's also really made me laugh. Farrah by rights should have been bottom two, as all three of the bottom three had woeful sidekicks, but Farrah is just adorbs so I don't mind. Of the three she did give me princess the most and both her and Kimora still looked gorgeous. Aja is just a complete mess to look at, her story made no sense and she makes one weird face constantly for her 'comedy'.

That said, she absolutely destroyed Kimora. Partly because of how poor Kimora was, but she was good. Not Chi Chi, Kennedy, Trinity, Coco level, but good.

Overall now:
01 (04) Valentina - How can you argue, she's slaying.
02 (05) Eureka - I'm sorry, I love her. Helpful friendly queen! And her dog sidekick gave me life.
03 (02) Shea
04 (01) Nina - I still love her but I was a bit put off this week by the killjoy approach in Untucked, and also I thought the voguing as an alien was just a bit of a bizarre choice. It's hard to stan when you hardly see someone too.
05 (03) Peppermint
06 (06) Charlie - I think she was both stunning and funny but I really like my top 5!
07 (09) Trinity - Growing on me every episode.. total unexpected package
08 (11) Farrah - Personality based rise.
09 (10) Sasha
10 (07) Alexis - She gives me polished but she isn't wow-ing me.
11 (08) Cynthia - No beef with her and I loved 'c'mon English lessons' and her story, but she just isn't exciting.
12 (12) Aja

Could all change next week wink.gif

Posted by: Catderella Apr 10 2017, 02:59 PM

Is it me or Untucked would be so much better if they returned to putting them all in that silver/gold lounge type of set? Claustrophobic feeling is always a good catalyst for any type of drama. Untucked has become so boring to watch these past few seasons for that reason probably

Posted by: RobBob Apr 10 2017, 03:17 PM

Yeah, I definitely miss old Untucked sad.gif I feel like, because it's so tame these days, when something happens like Aja this week, all the new fans are up in arms like "OH BITCH", when really it was NOTHING on some of the arguments of past. It used to be essential, for sure.

I'm agreeing with Adam also about Eureka now, I was unsure on the first episode because she was so clearly trying to be the loudest for every entrance but now she's settled in, I'm actually really liking her. Genuinely think she's still getting hate online due to being a larger queen and people seem to be less susceptible to the odd bit of bitchiness when it's from a larger queen but she's done well in every challenge so far and seemed lovely to Farrah this week.

Also, GIVE NINA MORE SCREEN TIME FFS.

Ranking right now:

1. Nina Bonina Brown
2. Shea Coulee
3. Farrah Moan (lower down on talent but 3rd on how much I find myself rooting for her and I love her personality/look)
4. Valentina
5. Charlie Hides
6. Peppermint
7. Eureka O'Hara
8. Sasha Velour
9. Trinity Taylor
10. Alexis Michelle
11. Aja
12. Cynthia Lee Fontaine

There's something I like in all of them now though, I must say. I'm too kind.

I love Detox, but I think she can be too unnecessarily mean sometimes. Her saying on Twitter Valentina doesn't deserve her win is bit far. I know it's a TV show and everyone should have opinions but she is a well respected Drag Race alumni, so should be a bit more respectful of the queens starting out I feel? She also made out that her accent was fake but loads of the Queens have accents/voices as part of their shtick (Katya, Alaska, Alyssa etc).

Also, always been here for Eureka! She's V talented!

Michelle commented on one of Detox's posts in which he was shading Valentina saying: "i will comment on this after the season is over. i am SO entertained". Detox's post which was saying she is not buying Valentina's "bullshit" was also liked by Raja, Pandora Boxx, Delta Work, Sharon Needle's fiance, Phoenix, Shea and Alexis Michelle.

Really wonder what she has done to get all the girls so pressed, and even Michelle involved?

I am absolutely adoring Valentina so far, so I am really not here for some big expose. If it is just that she has been doing drag longer than 12 months, I wouldn't give a shit because that shouldn't matter. Hopefully it can bring some drama (Valentina vs. Shea & Alexis???) but I am not here for this spoiling Valentina's chances as she is clearly a spectacular queen.

Posted by: Lieowstic🐱 Apr 10 2017, 06:20 PM

Yes! I was thinking the same about Untucked watching this episode and then I had the Laganja fiasco on my Tumblr thing randomly laugh.gif It's just so... muted nowadays. As has been said, when you see stuff like that and look back at how things exploded, and then see that now it's just "I think x should've been in the bottom girl that was awful", it's quite disappointing. I used to proper hunt for a link at the first opportunity, but now I get to say Monday or Tuesday and it comes up on recommended on Youtube and I just sort of half watch it.

Ooh at that beef, hopefully that comes up on Untucked and we actually get something from it!

Posted by: LexC♀ Apr 10 2017, 08:44 PM

I think the deal with Untucked is that once Absolut left as a sponsor the show's budget didn't extend to anything beyond what it does now and obviously with that came the new direction. I think people forget that Logo especially is cable TV and it's a channel with very little money to spend on its own. Although now they've bumped up to VH1, who knows?

There are pictures emerging of her online with her in a Boulee Brother's drag competition over 2 years ago. Apparently she did her first ever drag live performance and moved to doing it professionally 10 months before the show started but she had been perfecting her look for a good year and a half before that and entering pageants.

If that is all it is I'm already over it. I want something more juicy kink.gif

I'm all for her hanging on another few episodes, giving us some bitter, stroppy moments and serving us some more amazing lip syncs because I don't care what you say but she absolutely served it this time.

Like, I've been watching Season 8 back a bit recently and I've decided it needed Derrick, which I didn't realise at the time, messes are essential laugh.gif

Very odd. I hope they have a reason and it's not just people being jealous and mean for no reason...? Maybe it turns out she's been doing drag a lot longer than 10 months?

Not sure if Pandora would like something like that for no reason tbh

Yeah, she also said on her podcast thing she is sure to get more airtime this episode.. There is also a clip of Ru having a rant outside the workroom about not being negative (which seemed to aimed a queen) wearing the same suit he is in the preview for this episode and in an interview all the queens claimed Charlie was the most likely to talk back to the judges. So I think there could be a Charlie vs. Ru moment like there was with Pearl in S7 coming as well. Maybe she calls him out for showing her dust so far and then also doesn't slay the challenge (as the clip suggests) and Ru takes the opportunity. I will be gutted if that's the case.

You can see the video here: https://www.facebook.com/RuPaul/videos/1336596333024657/?pnref=story

Eureka also reposted that very video on her timeline this morning, a whole 9 months after it was originally posted, so it is clear that it is to do with this episode tonight.

She served the best looks on the Gaga challenge and last week. Her white runway was also one of the best (although beaten by Valentina). For a queen 50+ to be the most consistent runway queen thus far really is no mean feat.

Posted by: Davidson Apr 15 2017, 01:08 AM

I love Charlie so much but there was no excuse for that lip sync. I know she sings live, but if she was singing would she just stand there and not move at all? She really did just give up before it even started. So sad as she really is one of my absolute favourites of the season and I don't want her to go down in history as one of the worst lip-syncers of all time, but she definitely will, along with Tammie Brown. So sad this week was such a disaster for her because up until now she has been incredible. I really will miss her.

Despite one of my favs going home (and Trinity being unjustly in the bottom two - Peppermint should have been there for that outfit alone) this episode was by far the best so far. The challenge was great fun (and so hilariously messy) and the little bits of drama here and there were just in the perfect amount.

Posted by: Oliver 🐱 Apr 15 2017, 05:39 AM

I felt so f***ing bad during that lip sync. You could tell before it even started that Charlie was like "f*** this shit I'm going home". Even when Cynthia and Shea are shouting to encourage her! cry.gif

She did easily slay every single runway though which is something not many queens have done.

Maybe the cracked rib rumours were true and that's why she didn't move much (to admittedly a very fast paced song)? unsure.gif

Posted by: Adam Apr 15 2017, 08:04 AM

Yeah, unbelievably awkward. Was a real shame.

01 (03) Shea - Consistent queen.
02 (02) Eureka - Not a great episode for her personality, but she worked the challenge tbh.
03 (01) Valentina - Very pedestrian episode for her.
04 (07) Trinity - Every week a jump... she was very disappointing this episode until THAT. LIP. SYNC. yes!
05 (04) Nina - Something is off with her. The crying was just bizarre. And that did not give me nightie at all. But I still want to love her!
06 (05) Peppermint - Still like HER but heavily disappointing this week. That outfit. Very lucky to be saved.
07 (11) Cynthia - My Queen of the week, just so likable with her natural personality, I lived for her this week. PLEASE KEEP IT UP.
08 (09) Sasha
09 (08) Farrah - Was she even in this episode?
10 (10) Alexis - Consistently safe, but consistently boring. I saw a YouTube video of Charlie and Alexis and i LOVED that Alexis, but I haven't seen her on the show.
11 (12) Aja - She looked a BIT better but still not feeling her look. Glad she readjusted her attitude a little.

Posted by: Tinasha Apr 15 2017, 08:45 AM

My three favs are;

1) Shea
2) Valentina
3) Trinity

Cucu's outfit was a f***ing mess. I keep forgetting she's there despite the amount of airplay they're giving her.

Yeah, she said on Instagram that she was in a lot of pain with her broken ribs as well. I think that is fair enough, a 52 year old with a broken rib was never going to outdance Trinity. Especially when she doesn't lip-sync, she probably thought no matter what she tried to do it wouldn't be enough so she should save her energy and make sure her injury didn't get any worse (especially in those heels). I hope that is taken into account instead of people thinking she just threw her toys out of the pram. I feel so bad for her.

Also, Trinity has become my absolute favourite alongwith Valentina. Her screaming at Eureka on Untucked was brilliant. She may have a bitchy exterior but she speaks a lot of sense and is always in the right. Also she absolutely slayed that performance... what a queen.

My rate now:

1. Valentina
2. Trinity Taylor
3. Shea Coulee
4. Nina Bo'Nina Brown
5. Peppermint (despite that awful runway this week)
6. Sasha Valour
7. Aja
8. Farrah Moan
9. Alexis Michelle
10. Cynthia Lee Fontaine
11. Eureka O'Hara (annoyed me so much this episode again)

There's been quite a few times on past seasons where the runway has been edited down you know?

Here it is in full:

Posted by: Meownardo Apr 15 2017, 01:33 PM

The only bit of editing that pissed me off during the episode was the camera keep cutting back to Ross Matthews during the task for his reactions, I don't need Ross to tell me if something's funny or not, especially as he thought that Cynthia was a laugh riot but I was more like 🤷‍♀️.

I think the next episode will be make or break for Alexis, either she needs a win or she'll be lipsyncing, I'm gonna guess at Nina being in the next bottom two as well.

Posted by: Kye Apr 15 2017, 01:56 PM

I know it's been done before but I really don't like when the runways are like 2 second flashes, you can barely see who's on the runway and they're gone!
That said, I don't know what they could have cut because every part of the episode was so important. This show has too much content for a 40 minute slot, it should be a 2 hour block like Celebrity Apprentice.

I have a friend that is like Eureka and they are amazing at first. They're so funny and witty and sharp.. then it starts to wear and they don't know when to switch it off.
And their feelings get hurt when they hurt other peoples feelings by saying something out of order?! I'm going off her for that reason. There's a time and place.

Charlie wasn't just thrown she was SLUNG under the bus, this was totally not her time to go. Peppermint tripped over herself constantly, she was co-anchor and did not end the segment and her runway was trash.
The whole thing with asking Naya a question was taken out of context. Naya didn't let her finish.. Why would we wanna know about her blagging her way into a job at Abercrombie, the biter was if she did it for Glee!

I like Peppermint but she should have been in the bottom over both Charlie and Trinity. I feel like there are so many MOR queens that are gliding by (Cynthia especially) and Trinity (who won last week) got a hard time.

Posted by: Meownardo Apr 15 2017, 02:08 PM

It should have been a Peppermint/Charlie bottom two, but the ene result will have still been the same. I'm annoyed that Charlie was in the bottom but if THAT is how she lipsyncs for her life maybe it's for the best she's gone early on and save the spot for queens who will fight to be there.

Posted by: Oliver 🐱 Apr 15 2017, 02:28 PM

It was just so sad to watch, but I know she was going to be gone early when she was just getting absolutely nothing from the judges any week. Should have been safe rather than bottom three in week 2, and top 3 rather than just safe last week

Absolutely gagging at her runway looks (she looked f***ing gorgeous last night) and the judges seemed to be like "meh".

Blatantly brought onto the show purely to be a filler queen for a few episodes, when it shouldn't have been the case.

Too heartbroken to go watch this episode after reading this sob.gif my person winner GONE

Posted by: RobBob Apr 15 2017, 03:54 PM

THIS was the episode I've been waiting for, I feel like it properly hit its stride this week and will hopefully now continue to be a killer series. Shea really shined for me and while there's still something that's stopping me getting totally on board with Trinity (I still think it's just her frozen face and mug which I don't particularly like), I'm definitely growing to become totally on board with her. I agree with the "jack of all trades" comment someone made and THAT f***ING LIP SYNC. She absolutely turned it, Y E S.

As for Charlie, she did deserve to go last night, sadly. I know there's a lovable warmth to Charlie and she was definitely in my top half, but she's seemed a little cold and mechanical in every challenge and every Untucked, she never really seemed comfortable and her exit on Untucked kinda explained that, she's just not a competitive person and I think the environment was wrong for her.

I really feel like this week was a big turning point for Aja aswell, I'm not convinced she has a lot left in her but especially in Untucked, I really feel like this show has been taught her a lot and she's learning to mature, love herself and grow from what people are telling her. She looked fantastic this week, definitely the best she's looked yet.

My ranking now:

01 (01) Nina Bonina Brown
02 (02) Shea Coulee
03 (09) Trinity Taylor
04 (04) Valentina
05 (03) Farrah Moan
06 (11) Aja
07 (06) Peppermint
08 (08) Sasha Velour
09 (07) Eureka O'Hara
10 (12) Cynthia Lee Fontaine
11 (10) Alexis Michelle

I do really like Sasha and the win was deserved, but I want to stan for her more than I do. She doesn't really give me enough even though she's likeable.

Posted by: Lieowstic🐱 Apr 15 2017, 03:55 PM

It almost feels like the runway barely mattered this week, given they glossed over it in the episode and I think that while Charlie did fluff the challenge, the runway should've made up for it, whereas Peppermint was weak on the challenge and runway so I think she definitely should have been bottom 2. But while I get the cracked ribs thing, of course, if Charlie wasn't going to lipsync at any point then yeah she should have gone now. A lipsync is supposed to be a firey fight and a reason to stay, look at Trinity who could've easily gone home after a weak week but she killed the lipsync and is becoming a fave for a lot of people (myself included, because that was f***ing fab). I think Charlie was happy with where she was in drag, she didn't always give that oomph in challenges when it was something she was perhaps less comfortable with, but either way it must have been so frustrating for her to be paid basically dust when she was clearly in the top few of every runway.

I agree though all in all this episode was the best so far, it was the perfect challenge although apart from Nina and Eureka Not On Today were a total mess laugh.gif But it had a good balance of the strong team and a bit of a hot mess, flecks of drama and some great performances. It could do with being a bit longer but I think this was easily the best use of limited time so far.

Nina's neurosis may come back to haunt her, I am rooting for Aja to step her 🐱 up, Alexis/Peppermint/Farrah are likeable but need to win or they'll be going home quite shortly. Sasha's just not going to be my aesthetic and I think she takes herself a bit too seriously, but she seems nice enough as a person. Eureka's wigs and need for attention are getting on my tits and Cucu's charm is going down the toilet.

i am too - she's like max where her main sell is her fashions / the RESULT of her work, but she's not a lot of fun to watch to GET to that result. She is a solid queen and she seems nice enough and pleasant enough but when you get MASSIVE personalities who are great to watch it doesn't becoming refreshing, it becomes boring

Posted by: Liаm Apr 22 2017, 03:56 AM

WHY DID I NOT SEE THAT COMING !!! Just as I grow to like Eureka sad.gif But I did understand.

Farrah was so lucky this time laugh.gif That was SUCH a fun challenge, easily my favourite so far. The song was hilarious and there were a lot of fab performances from the girls. Alexis definitely totally stole the show as Kris but as soon as she came out on the runway wearing THAT I knew the win had slipped from her fingers. Shea slayed too, overall definitely the right winner.

I am so tired of Nina's drama though, I get the overthinking and paranoia thing but it's boring to see every week, and this week she came across as bratty and sulky rather than struggling or upset or paranoid. How many times is she gonna lift just out of the bottom 2 with a good runway? laugh.gif

Posted by: Kye Apr 22 2017, 10:59 AM

I don't even think Nina's runways are all that. Last week with the face paint, it looked like she'd had it done at a kids birthday party. It was all slipping down her face and her breast plate always shows the edges.. I don't see it with her?
And in the challenge, she was a nightmare. I'm so glad Todrick called her out. She was so dismissive and unwilling to work because she didn't get the part she wanted. Tough shit! Shea slayed the role, happy she won!

I really thought Cynthia was a goner this week. What Alexis was thinking making her Kim I do not know.. Meghan's impression was hilarious!
She did it again in the lip sync.. took her clothes off and mimed badly. She's just not improved since her last shot.. she's had her time now.

Also.. Eureka! ohmy.gif I genuinely thought Ru was going to say she was faking her injured knee and she was getting thrown off the show! laugh.gif
But tbh.. there's no way they could have a queen on crutches every week. She needed time to heal, it was the right choice.

Posted by: Davidson Apr 22 2017, 12:10 PM

Cannot believe Alexis Michelle having a go at all of the girls for her shitty look in Untucked. As if it is there responsibility to sort your questionable taste levels, bye.

Also wish Ru had made history and made it a triple elimination. Horrible lip sync from the two weakest drag queens left.

Rate after Episode 5:

1. Valentina
2. Shea Coulee
3. Trinity Taylor
4. Nina Bo'Nina Brown
5. Peppermint
6. Sasha Valour
7. Aja
8. Alexis Michelle
9. Cynthia Lee Fontaine
10. Farrah Moan

The top 3 are away ahead of the back. 4-6 I enjoy but they all need to step their game up. The bottom 4 need to be gone ASAP, next 4 eliminations please.

Posted by: Cucumbruella Apr 22 2017, 01:53 PM

omg the eureka elimination was camp reality TV at its finest!!!! that lipsync was horrible tho - is cynthia ever going to know the words to any lipsync she ever has to do?!

Posted by: Adam Apr 22 2017, 04:11 PM

Aww Miss Eureka, consistently been one of my favourites and glad to see her getting a really favourable edit in this episode, the laughing and joking with Todrick really got me, she looked so happy. I am so sad we are losing her but you can't really do all the things a Drag Queen should on crutches. Plus, this way we will potentially get more episodes out of her overall. Her video on the Logo website about the exit is the sweetest too. Yas queen!

Miss Cynthia.. I absolutely live for her as boy and in natural drag setting like when Ru asked if her selfie would feature her cucu, and taking the mick out of Aja. But not knowing the words to TWO lipsyncs in ONE episode is inexcusable. She was so so lucky to make it through.

Actually so was Farrah. I have come to realise that lovely as she is, she offers next to nothing. The least of anyone. I loved her absolutely sobbing as Eureka left but you can't win DR by being a lovely human.

I thought this was a great episode, and if Cynthia had known the words than the musical would have rewatch value. Weird as she was on point with her steps. So weird that we got a full runway, some workroom apologies/chats, a mini challenge and the episode didn't feel rushed! Best one yet.

Overall:
01 (01) Shea - Absolutely cemented this this week, I finally have a clear frontrunner, especially with Eureka gone. Killed it in both parts.
(Eureka sad.gif)
02 (03) Valentina - Even when she doesn't have an episode full of moments, she still manages to shine.
03 (06) Peppermint - I've realised she is one of the best talking heads, love the faces she pulls. Great Britney, just no more pink skirts!
04 (04) Trinity - Didn't love much from her this week, middle of the pack. Inconsistent but can be great.
05 (05) Nina - Would be in the top three but for her attitude, so offputting. She is only harming herself, there were 11 people in the room, you had no divine right to be Blac Chyna and then certainly no place to be rude to a choreographer/judge because you were in a mood. Liked her runway look though.
06 (07) Cynthia - Still a soft spot for Cucu even though she disappointed me. Her Kim still made me LOL at points and I liked her runway.
07 (10) Alexis - PROPS for that Kris Jenner, was absolutely superb, even in moments she wasn't front and centre. The Untucked rant wasn't cute, and a big NO to her telling Farrah she couldn't go practice, but she climbs on merit.
08 (08) Sasha - Her Lindsay was at times funny, but her chat in Untucked about she should be registering higher, bitch you won last week! She just doesn't really connect with me.
09 (11) Aja - To be fair, she grew on me massively this week. Not even sure why, but I'm glad as I now like all the queens.
10 (09) Farrah - I've just had to realise she has nothing but a pleasant look to offer.

I like that beyond Shea, who knows who will make the finale!

Posted by: Leonardo Apr 22 2017, 05:10 PM

I can't believe they didn't lipsync to "All About That Bass" it seemed so set up for that, but Cynthia may have had an outside chance of knowing the lyrics and we couldn't have had that. It's snatch game next, so maybe Cynthia/Farrah against a new lipsyncer? Would have said Nina, but I've seen her do characters and she's pretty great at them.

Nina needs to calm down and get it together next week. I still love her but guuuuurrrrl

Yeah Cynthia is NOT going to lipsync next week knowing the challenge theme... It's Farrah's time to go. She's the Laganja/Gia of the season. Except they both were x4000 characters she is at the moment. Beige as f***. Bye bitch bye

Posted by: Liаm Apr 23 2017, 05:52 PM

I can't figure out why I still kind of love Farrah, as a person not a queen laugh.gif I think she's more "be my friend" than "YAS SLAY QUEEN" she just seems really sweet. But that Kylie "performance"... I know Kylie is a harder character to do and make interesting than say Kim or Kris, but as someone who claimed she was obsessed with the Kardashians she should have been able to nail some of her hallmarks.

Posted by: Tinasha Apr 23 2017, 08:41 PM

Valentina's runway I loved this week. It felt so simple but the attention to detail was fantastic and I loved her nails and makeup, she also comes across as the sweetest in Untucked. Shea, even though she's my second fav and I need her in the final three, I felt was slightly overrated this week, though there was nobody that particularly stood out.

Yeah I agree, she'll end up being one of those Snatch Game queens who gets the look and thinks it's then ok to not really bother with fleshing out the character and sort of scrape through laugh.gif I think Leonardo's post at the top of this page might be right, she'll be bottom 2 with one of the queens who hasn't been already and just struggles with Snatch Game.

Also omg called Nina's ffs !!!

She's so unintentionally funny, that I adore her. The wimpering noises when Eureka was being sent home were HILARIOUS and her crying in Untucked aswell. I don't even care that she's kinda crap because she's so loveable laugh.gif

Really hope Nina nails hers they could be amazing. Loving most of the choices but I don't know if Peppermint can pull of Nene she has been a bit forgettable for me so far but I hope I'm proved wrong. Farrah needs to be out next. I think Cynthia could save herself with her choice!

If currently rank them like this, but I fully expect it could change after Snatch Game:
1. Valentina
2. Nina
3. Trinity
4. Shea
5. Sasha
6. Alexis
7. Cynthia
8. Peppermint
9. Aja
10. Farrah

So ready for Nina's Snatch Game and low-key excited to see what Aja and Peppermint's snatch games turn out like.

Posted by: Leonardo Apr 28 2017, 09:36 PM

My new ranking:

Trinity: (1/11)-(1/10)
Still my favourite regardless of her invisi-edit, probably due to her bitch-with-a-heart-of-gold personality, Only popping up in Untucked, to stifle of some of the tension, caused by Alexis' accusation (i'll get to it) with a well-timed turkey joke, so far she's served the most best lipsync so far this season and surpassed everyone's low expectations from her Meet The Queens videos which have proved to be quite misleading. Also that voice is giving me Blanche Deveraux and I LIVE for it.

Shea: (2/11)-(2/10)
A lot of people saying that it's Shea's to lose now, i'm not sure that's the case as she's doing about the same as Max/Dela/Ongina and may be the shock boot of Season 9. I hope not though, as she's building up to be one of the strongest overall queens in the Drag Race pantheon. Serving great looks, top challenge performances and a lovely personality, and she's probably gonna kill a lipsync, should she have to, which is all i'm basically wanting from these queens - especially given the lacklustre lipsyncers so far this season.

Valentina: (3/11)-(3/10)

Yep, she's still stunningly gorgeous and quirkly charming to boot, but so far two performance challenges have flew right past her with her leaving minimal impact outside of runway, she needs a Top 3 for Snatch Game to remain on track for a win, and she could also do with Shea f***ing up soon.

Sasha: (9/11)-(4/11)

I'm now coming round to Sasha, to begin with I found her attitude sort of preachy which it still sort of is, but I sense no malice so I can't stay mad at it. It''s also coming to the fore that she's probably one of the strongest actors left, which usually makes up for about 80% of the challenges. She's still lacking, and probably always will for me, in runway because I just don't like her style and when she tries to do something out of her comfort zone, (like the White Party runway) she looks uncomfortable. Makeup's pretty flawless though.

Nina: (4/11)-(5/10)

There's something so unique about Nina's style of drag which I adore which may sound strange after ragging on Sasha's, but Nina's aesthetic just hits me in my good spot. Her personality on the other hand is more problamatic for me in that half the time she's fun and sassy but her whining isn't doing her any favours. Still was one of the best in the Kardashians's challenge tho, probably better than Shea's obvious scene stealing role. I don't give a f*** how she talked to Todrick in rehearsals. YOU LET TYRA WIN AND SHE WAS AWFUL (Personality-wise, calm down Beyoncé)

Peppermint: (7/11)-(6/10)

The obvious pick for Miss Congeniality, no. Peppermint's saving grace is her natural charm which she has in buckets and propelling her up my rankings, but her piss poor runways are starting getting too much to ignore, and she needs to justify her place with an epic lipsync a la Shangela.

Aja: (5-11)-(7/10)

I do like Aja and relate to her as I would definitely would think I was a Valentina, but I'd definitely be an Aja, a hot mess but still fierce on the dancefloor. There is however no denying she's performing the worst out of all queens on the show, lacking a good show in any challenge so far, and from her choice from Snatch Game, doesn't look set on improving that score. Her runways are also back on track to being poor, with her quite nice Naughty Nighties runway seemingly a blip.

Farrah (8/11)-(8/10)

A big problem for me this season is that so many of the queens seem to be at a lesser level than that of seasons past, like when the Meet The Queens started everyone was saying "Farrah looks like Courtney. Let's hope she's not as dull" forgetting that Courtney had super-polished runways and was a strong performer. The thing that's saving her from the bottom of this ranking is that I do like her and her runways are good, if not great. She still beat CLF in that lipsync tho, knowing the words should always take presidence over being under enthused.

Cynthia: (11/11)-(9/10)

Poor Cynthia, I think she needs to get eliminated fairly soon before she gets utterly savaged by an online backlash. Her runways are always awful and she didn't seem to try one little bit with either lipsync in the episode, probably over playing her wacky Cucu card at this point. However, hearing more of her backstory with Farrah in Untucked and how she mentored her, there is no denying that she is probably the nicest queen in herstory, genuinely never showing proper malicious tendencies. She needs to go though, for her own good.

Alexis: (6/11)-(10/10)

Part of me is still rooting for Alexis to shine, but that part of me is unreliable and only saying that because he's the hottest out of drag. Unfortunately on an episode where she probably could have made her name in the competition, she decided instead to bring out two things that overshadowed her good performance. Firstly, that basic-ass runway where not one single element went with another and then a strop at the other queens for not saying the obvious and telling her it was shit. Bearing in mind this was not an emotional outburst, she had considered this and decided that was the best course of action to take. Not a good look, gurl. OH AT ALL

_______________________________

Eureka: (10/11)-OUT
Ooh, the drama! Yes, just when the edit seemed to be coming around to Eureka she gets a boot from the season and a straight pass to season 10 (along with Porkchop) and the uniqueness of having a full year to prepare, could this be the biggest advantage any queen's ever had? Seems silly crying over it now doesn't it, Farrah? In terms of this season, I'm a bit sad that we're not getting that Eureka/Trinity lipsync that was being lined up, but hopefully she'll come back with some better wigs and a sense of appropiate timing.

Posted by: Davidson Apr 29 2017, 01:57 PM

Yeah, Aja, Peppermint, Cynthia and Farrah all did horribly.

I didn't think it was a good snatch game really. The only one's who particular stood out for me were Alexis, Valentina and Nina Bo'Nina.

Also yaassss at Peppermint's lipsync.

Posted by: Liаm Apr 29 2017, 02:50 PM

Yeah I don't think it was a great one. I feel like Cynthia and Farrah especially just did the Snatch Game no-no of kind of just being themselves, I absolutely hate that. It's so lazy to just do someone who fits into their drag style and don't bother putting any personality in. I'm glad Cynthia finally came acropper, 4 or 5 weeks too late imo. She just isn't that good, 10th last season was about enough for her.

Farrah probably would have been toast if she didn't pull off the best runway look, depending on whether she replaced Cynthia or Peppermint in the bottom 2. Every week I feel like I expect Farrah to go, but I'm glad she's hanging on in there.

Posted by: HausofSZA Apr 29 2017, 02:56 PM

Sasha's Erotica look was my favourite of the ep and Peppermint's lip-sync had me screaming <3

I didn't know who Nina was playing being a newbie to it all but she was hilarious and i'm glad we saw her with a lack of moping around. She's still my fave by far.

Cucu though sad.gif

Jasmine Masters was a contestant on season 7!

I howled at Peppermint during that lipsync. Surely one of the best ever??

Very obvious result there on the top and the bottom. I loved this snatch game. Having just come from watching some of Jasmine's videos Nina KILLED me. Liza and Marlene were also amazing.

This is so hard to predict who is going to be top 3 at this point. Could go either way. The only thing i know is Farrah and Aja going quite soon, unless Aja steps it up.

The edges discussion in Untucked though. Amazing.

Yeah, I've been thinking this too. I'd be surprised if Shea and Valentina didn't make it at this stage. I can't see Farrah, Aja or Peppermint making it. So, that leaves one spot for either Sasha, Nina, Trinity and Alexis (though, I don't really think it'll be Alexis either).

At this stage, I'd plump towards Trinity but it's very difficult to call and obviously I don't know what is to come with future challenges, at this stage, I wouldn't have expected Naomi top 3 and I thought Thorgy was a near certainty.

My rank at this point;

01 Valentina
02 Shea
03 Nina
04 Farrah
05 Sasha
06 Peppermint
07 Trinity
08 Alexis
09 Aja

Love Valentina, so cute and genuine. Love her runway looks and has so much more to give. She's is hilarious and just so watchable. Nina can be a bit miserable but when she brings it, she really brings it. Love Farrah, find her so so sweet and her look was stunning this week. Sasha is growing on me, Peppermint is a bit nothing but had me howling on the lip sync.

Don't know what to make of Trinty, her face annoys me and there's something annoying about her personality. Alexis has good moments but is so abrasive/cocky to me that's off putting.

Aja is untalented, unfunny, ugly as f*** and has the most annoying personality - in untucked she wants to do the most and be the most liked right. Go home bitch and sort out that makeup.

Nina could go up v soon because I think she's leaving the woe is me behind and obviously with the talent she has there isn't much else to pick at. Peppermint is kind of just there for me, I don't particularly dislike Alexis and Sasha as such but I agree Alexis is cocky and it's offputting as she's not THAT talented to back it up. Aja is just awful. Idk what it is about Sasha I just can't take to her at all :/

Aja's make-up.. I seriously can't. Girl does not know how to beat a face. Acne scars aside, she always does her eyes too dark and bitch can't contour for shit.
She also has a terrible attitude, so entitled. I hope she's out next.. when I see some of her choices, I'm like 'Is this not Season 9? How is she here?'.

I think Aja is getting WAY too much stick. She literally changed up her approach to make up over night after Michelle's critique and she is clearly still learning. Not everybody who comes to Drag Race is a ready made star and I think that's what makes it a good mix. Some people need guidance and that's what I see in Aja, who has actually showed she is willing to listen and adapt.

Posted by: Joe. May 3 2017, 08:59 AM

Aja's make up has been noticibly better, as has her attitude - but it terms of her performance on the show, she hasn't really done...anything.

But she's not? She wasn't ready to listen to the critiques until the other Queens spelled it out for her.. specifically Valentina.
It's her attitude that puts me off her.. she doesn't think she is who you're describing. She already thinks she's the best, she thought her Winnie Sanderson in Chaps looks was going to get her to the top?!

But I think she has come to realise that, she thought it'd get her to the top at the time and she's since joked about coming in chaps for a Princess challenge, I believe in Untucked. She's changed quite a lot I think, and I think you can tell that in Untucked in particular.

Sure, she's still probably the least polished queen but I think she's shown she's willing to adapt. It can't be easy to just switch up an entire make-up style in the middle of such an intense competition but she's proven she's willing to try it. But, yeah, her make-up does still leave a lot to be desired and I'm potentially cutting her some slack given that I know she's improved significantly since the competition, given it was filmed last year.

Yaassss. Bye gurl.

Posted by: Liаm May 6 2017, 11:50 AM

It's not she wasn't good, but Trinity winning over Valentina and Shea?! I suppose Shea's runway wasn't as good as the other two but I don't think Trinity's performance was THAT good to win the challenge. It was a brilliant challenge overall though, that was the correct bottom 2 as they were the only two I felt weren't that great in the challenge. Even Farrah did really well for a change laugh.gif

Posted by: Jack May 6 2017, 11:51 AM

Aja did look the best she had done on the runway but her acting was horrendous. Didn't think Sasha deserved the bad critique at all, so strange.

Valentina, Shea and Trinity were my faves this week.

Posted by: Kye May 6 2017, 12:07 PM

Aja & Nina were both terrible on the acting front and Aja did look her best on the runway, whereas Nina got clocked for wearing the same silhouette.
Based on the critiques, and the fact that her lip sync wasn't particularly a standout, Nina Bonina Sadface Excuses Brown should have gone but I'm so glad to see the back of Aja.

Trinity, Valentina & Shea never disappoint.. I think they're my top 3. Shea & Sasha switch places each week.

Posted by: Liаm May 6 2017, 12:26 PM

Yeah, as much as I'm glad Aja is gone I would have definitely made a case to bin Nina. I am personally so done with the defensiveness and attitude every single week over the smallest things like "speak a bit faster" which is perfectly reasonable in an acting challenge... It's a shame because I love her style (even if she does admittedly need to change it up a bit now and then) and she does have talent when she gets it right. The lipsync was a bit eh so maybe Ru just took it that Nina was the one with more potential and saved her, although I agree Aja did look better on the runway. I kind of lowkey thought that maybe we'd have a shock with them both sashaying away but as it went on I saw the lipsync wasn't THAT bad laugh.gif

Posted by: RobBob May 6 2017, 02:56 PM

Oh, my arse was CLENCHED for that result. So happy Nina sneaked through even if it was an average lip sync, I was in near tears at her acting. "Mama does not play... that" realness, so hilariously hammy. Definitely agree with the winner and think it was time for Aja to go, as much as I like her. Her transformation this episode was really fantastic, don't think I've seen someone improve their faults so much on Drag Race in such a short space of time, I mean, look at Derrick Barry when she was told to switch it up. Think Farrah's time needs to be up next week, as much as I like her too.

Got a feeling this week's top 3 isn't the last time we see that top 3 - even though Nina is my favourite, I definitely see and think this would be a really strong final.

My rankings:

01 Nina Bo'Nina Brown
02 Shea Coulee
03 Valentina
04 Trinity Taylor
05 Peppermint
06 Sasha Velour
07 Farrah Moan
08 Alexis Michelle

Nina slayed that lip sync although the beginning was a bit slow and shaky. That ^ moment was soooo good indeed.

Can't have Nina f*** up anymore. My favourite is Shea now. She is the total package.

Trinity winning was okay but I defo thought Shea deserved it. Although tbh all three were INCREDIBLE and it was one of the tightest top 3 in acting challenges ever.

Farrah still here though. Good god. Serving that Kandy Ho/Miss Fame filler realness episode after episode.

01 Shea

02 Nina
03 Valentina
04 Sasha

Also WHY did they decide to do this light on the runway?? It's absolutely HORRIBLE. It makes everything look blue and barely visible. I hope whoever was in charge of that is long gone and fired from the show. Ughhhh

Posted by: Joe. May 7 2017, 03:37 PM

It wasn't an exciting one, but Nina's lip sync was better, I think Ru always goes for preicison over energy/antics. It's why I think Farrah would/should have stayed against Cucu a few weeks back.

I feel like Nina might have her week next week. Rupaul's Roast seems like exactly the kind of challenge she'd do well in.

Posted by: RobBob May 7 2017, 04:37 PM

Yeah, I could definitely see her following the Coco & Trinity comedy challenge win, RuPaul tends to like the more ratchet humour and I think he does really like Nina.

I think it might be her last hurrah though, I'm feeling a bit like Farrah will go next week with Nina the week after at the moment. But, we are due a Thorgy shaped shock soon, whoever that might be. Maybe Valentina?

Nope! My 'friend' made me watch this a while back and it was enjoyable so I've just been binge watching S9 this past week on netflix to catch up

Posted by: Liаm May 8 2017, 01:52 PM

I wouldn't say can't stand but I'm really getting fed up of Nina's attitude as I've said, because it feels like she almost turns a corner and then she takes 20 steps back into misery and defensiveness over one critique in any given challenge. That said I agree that this feels like it will be her challenge, so we'll have to wait at least another week or two laugh.gif

Posted by: RobBob May 8 2017, 03:35 PM

I think I'm too far in with Nina to not love her at this stage, otherwise I'm sure I'd be with you on getting really pissed off with her constant attitude. I just find it hard not to love her and her salty live Instagrams.

I've pretty much decided over night though that I've properly fallen in love with Trinity and I'm promoting her to my new #2 at the very least. I'm starting to feel like there's something very Alyssa about her and just being naturally funny every time she speaks or just looks at someone.

Posted by: Lukuzz May 9 2017, 05:47 PM

I'd now rank them like this -
1. Valentina
2. Trinity
3. Shea
4. Nina
5. Sasha
6. Alexis
7. Peppermint
8. Farrah

Love the top 5. But the top 3 have slayed throughout. I love Nina but she's needs to stop with all this self sabotage and she wil be gone soon. I find Alexis quite unbearable but she does have talent. Peppermint and Farrah are a bit vanilla for me!

Posted by: Joe. May 9 2017, 07:46 PM

I feel like it feels very obvious Shea is going to win at this stage so I'd like Trinity to pull out a shock win. She'd be a refreshing change.

Nina is annoying for sure, but I think she's an interesting, complex and talented Queen who I enjoy watching on screen.

Posted by: Liаm May 13 2017, 04:18 AM

Low key gutted at that, it's disappointing that if Farrah had just committed that little bit more and gave it that push to feel ok to be mean and go for people as is the point of a roast. The foundations were there so if she'd just delivered more of a punchline But I suppose you can say that about any challenge when someone doesn't do well, and she was lucky to get that far. She was just so sweet and I'll miss that, bless her sad.gif Great lipsync from Alexis, you could feel the fight whereas Farrah just gave up and didn't push for it. I think me saying that sums up Farrah's whole run, being likeable wasn't quite enough and she never had the moment to push her forward and make her click. She might have been better off doing this in a couple of years with more confidence and polish, and more of an idea of her drag persona and who she is. However, as I said she's been lucky more weeks than she's got through safely imo so it was the right time really.

On a more general note, great challenge I thought! Peppermint, Sasha (who should've won the challenge imo, the look probably tipped it in favour of Peppermint and I did prefer hers, plus it's nice everyone has won a challenge now) and Shea were great.

Posted by: Cucumberella May 13 2017, 04:34 AM

really enjoyed this one!! valentina in the mini challenge was SPOT ON (her actual roast tho omg??? hahaha... so bizarre!!!). loved peppermint and sasha, really correct top 2. loved shea too!!

actually died at sasha's read to valentina in the roast! and peppermint's book joke ohhh my god

so surprised to see trinity bomb this one sad.gif farrah and alexis were obviously gonna bomb it but we got a GREAT lipsync out of alexis, i love a good goofy and true to the song lipsync <3 farrah's exit when she did the final moan i actually died lmao, she'll definitely be remembered very favourably

Posted by: Lukuzz May 13 2017, 08:12 AM

As much as I thought Farrah got too far in the competition I was actually sad to see her go this week. I still found her funny but I think she needed a little bit extra like others said previously. Alexis absolutely bombed and I would have sent her home but she did do well in th lip sync, she really doesn't have many likeable features for me though hopefully this knock down will give her some much need humility! Sasha and Peppermint definitely slayed this week which was nice to see. I also thought Nina Valentina and Shea were also very good. Don't know what happened to Trinity I thought she was going to kill it, sometimes the having too much confidence thing isn't working for them!

Posted by: Davidson May 13 2017, 10:38 AM

Farrah was so endearing on Untucked.

Easily her time to go but I can't help but find her so sweet.

Posted by: Adam May 13 2017, 03:11 PM

I thought this was one of the weaker episodes but I have a soft spot for Pep so I was very happy for her win. I have a feeling this could see her push on for the final three now.

Farrah.. it was her damn but she is just so damn likeable.. the final thing we see of her being a whine was so apt!

Alexis... today was a no. I DO still think she's there on merit and I think we may get a few more weeks of her, though. She's my least favourite despite the talent as there is so little warmth.

I pretty much really like the final 7 bar Alexis though. Aja and Farrah going was, tbh, the right people. Sasha is doing really well and growing on me.

01. Shea - Surely one of the most consistent queens of all time. Is she bad at anything?
02. Peppermint - Just so lovely and smashed it in every way this week.
03. Valentina - Hard to hate, I loved her little 'HEY!' reaction to being read.
04. Trinity - Disappointing today, the most inconsistent - but last week (I didn't comment) stays in my mind, so good.
05. Nina - I kind of prefer her just reacting to other people's shade rather than taking centre stage?
06. Sasha - but growing on me by the week.
---
07. Alexis

Ross was great. Love that Michelle not knowing she was the roastee seemed genuine. Plus points in a weaker ep!

Posted by: Joe. May 13 2017, 03:18 PM

The show's format wasn't really for Farrah but she gave some flawless looks and has a cute and memorable personality so I think she'll do really well off the back of the show.

Posted by: sticky icky trav May 13 2017, 03:28 PM

Sad to see Farrah go, but it makes sense. She really just wasn't a great fit in this competition as a young queen. I feel like after traveling and getting even more into the Farrah character, Farrah could end up doing well on an All Stars season, but I just don't think she was ready yet.

Judging by how the shows' portrayals are coming off to me, it seems Alexis, Nina, and Trinity will be the next ones to go. Valentina seems like she'll be an easy F4 out at this point in time, unless some major changes come in the following episodes.

Posted by: Regina May 13 2017, 04:43 PM

Valentina continues to slay every hole *.*

Posted by: DNQrella May 14 2017, 10:21 AM

I couldn't stop laughing at Sasha there. She was fabulous. As were Shea and Peppermint. Shea being such a Jinkx at the moment, slaying the challenges but not getting awarded wins.

I feel it's Nina's time to sashay away, I am over her.

I am SHOCKED Alexis didn't tell everyone off for not giving her heads up about the green look and that it wouldn't work in Untucked. I absolutely cannot stand her. There's a very big sense of entitlement and hypocrisy in almost everything she does. Fuera!

Posted by: Kye May 14 2017, 11:00 AM

I love the way that Ru called Alexis out for being butthurt over people going for her weight but she had absolutely no problem going for Shea's teeth? She may feel super conscious about them and had a real tough time but she took it on the chin and got on with it. I think Shea is going to be the Jinkx and ride this mutha home.

Posted by: Liаm May 14 2017, 01:14 PM

Yeah exactly laugh.gif If you say that weight is off limits because Alexis was a bit self conscious, you'd have to just not read anyone just in case they get offended by it. And yes whilst some of the things brought up might cut a bit close, you know when you go on Drag Race you're gonna have to do the reading challenge, if not the full roast then at least as a mini challenge.

Posted by: blacksquare May 15 2017, 10:27 AM

Alexis is just so awful, the sooner the better please. I was expecting so much more from Nina at the beginning of this, but it's all been a bit meh since the first episode.

I do agree she has plateau'd, but something about her defensive personality I find quite endearing.

The reason I can't warm to Sasha...

The thing about her is that she is clearly talented, polished, smart and probably a nice person, but something about her drag is still hard to digest for me. Her overall performance and personality feels too transparently thought out, and there's no spark of spontaneity that I enjoy even from the far less talented queens. It all gives me a 'I'm trying really hard to be overtly humble and aware at all times' vibe.

Posted by: ElectroBoy May 15 2017, 01:54 PM

Didn't know this thread was here... I'm in the can't sand Alexis category and am glad she ended up in the bottom 2 - its a shame she didn't sashay away though. Her getting miffed about the others reading her were stupid and you would end up being able to read or take the mick out of anyone with her attitude.

It probably was Farrah's time to go as she wasn't great... at hardly any of the challenges but unlike Alexis and also Nina she wasn't hardfaced or irritating so it was a shame for her to go. A Trinty vs Alexis bottom 2 would've been hilarious though as both of them have such high options of themselves.

I think it's Shea's to lose at this stage, I'm hoping Valentina or Sasha win though as they're both my faves!

01 Valentina
02 Sasha
03 Shea
04 Peppermint
05 Trinity
06 Nina

I agree somewhat, I like her enough but she's not pushing it up to love for me because of the lack of that spark. It is quite calculated as a persona and also not my type of drag but I can't deny her talent regardless.

YES!!!! would be THE most dramatic thing in RDPR history if so ohmy.gif

Posted by: LexC♀ May 15 2017, 07:16 PM

Not actually done any of these this season so here be a ranking:

01 Shea - She's the biggest "all rounder" of this year who can clearly perform, turn out looks and be funny at the same time.

02 Trinity - I lowkey live for her. A Big moment I lived for in untucked this week was Trinity sipping her drink and doing the left-to-right eyeing up while Shea and Nina were exchanging words. She is seriously growing on me and at this rate I think I could even get behind a win for her.

03 Valentina - She's pretty (she looks like linda evangelista, she a model ect) and all but I don't quite live for her or get that spark of uniqueness in the way I do my favorites, her winning would feel a bit unnecessary since she's probably going to be a superstar anyway so she can do well but pls don't win pls

04 Sasha - Another one who's growing on me but I still find her a little meh most of the time. I mean, her attempt at a Judith Butler impersonation is just such an Academia world type thing that I think that's just the world/sphere of drag she comes from which makes the "too thought out" criticism make sense but I don't have that much of an issue with.

05 Nina Bonina Mary J Brown - It's so frustrating seeing her descend into a paranoid mess since I think she's by far and away the most creative look wise but I think that's more of an effect of how horribly she's been treated by her home drag scene (which is probably also racist af let's be real here). She'll probably get the Alyssa/Katya/Thorgy type late season

06 Peppermint why u so nice "cos I am B!" - Meh. Nothing to gag over.

07 Alexis - I feel like they'll keep Alexis longer than she deserves to stay since she's the closest thing to a "villain" we have this season but even then it's more in line with Shannel and her own self-absorption than a straight up cu[s][/]nt like Phi-Phi.

Posted by: Liаm May 15 2017, 07:35 PM

I can totally see the rumour going round being true and it will be amazing to watch I feel.

Posted by: LexC♀ May 15 2017, 08:01 PM

I think I've seen a rumour of who goes home next week but not anthing toooo dramatic. If somebody want to put something in my box then they can go right ahead!

Posted by: RobBob May 15 2017, 08:22 PM

I haven't done a ranking in ages, I'm now at:

01 Trinity
02 Peppermint
03 Nina
04 Shea
05 Valentina
06 Sasha
07 Alexis

If Alexis went this week (I don't think she will) then I would feel disappointed at whoever went out of that top 6 though.

Posted by: Jack May 16 2017, 01:01 PM

VALENTINA NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Posted by: Joe. May 20 2017, 08:08 AM

That was tragic and uncomfortable to watch. By the time it came to it Valentina was obviously going and with good reason but I think the judges messed it up with their choices.

Firstly, I think Trinity should have won overall. Her part made me laugh the most and her runway look (with Peppermint's) were leagues ahead of the others, Shea in another bathing suit?

And then Alexis should have been bottom two over Nina or Valentina. I don't want anymore goddamn excuses.

RIP Miss Venezuela.

Trinity, come on now. Win this damn thing.

Posted by: Jack May 20 2017, 09:23 AM

I'm not watching this show anymore, so obvious Shea will win which is fine but there's no one to root for anymore.

Michelle Visage is a nasty little c**t too.

ALEXIS IS STILL IN THE COMPETITION.

Posted by: Martyn May 20 2017, 11:44 AM

At least it wasn't Alexis that sent her home.

Posted by: Liаm May 20 2017, 12:22 PM

I'm not as bothered as everyone else seems to be by Valentina leaving laugh.gif It was nowhere near as dramatic as the rumours made it sound though, it was said that when Ru stopped Valentina she was immediately sent home. I did think that was a bit much to happen, how it actually transpired did seem more plausible as I know that Ru believed in Valentina much more than that. But the challenge for those two was a disaster, and Valentina was awful in the lipsync. If she'd had the right attitude and slain the lipsync having owned up to the mistake with her make up not being finished, she'd have stayed I think. But I guess being young and new to drag and getting by so long with putting a foot wrong, this quite significant bump being her first slip up was probably a bit much to handle. Idk why I'm just not that gutted, perhaps because I knew it was happening but I didn't care much when Oliver told me the spoilers the other day laugh.gif

Shea does feel even more of an obvious winner than Bianca at this point imo, like in that season I thought Ru could have maybe upended it and gone for Adore but this time I can't see past Shea at all. Which I'm fine with, she's been fab every week pretty much, but I'd also be fine with Trinity and I'm really growing to love Sasha after this week. Trinity is getting to be quite the reliable queen too, apart from the roast blip her past few weeks have been brill, I agree she probably should have won the challenge, their pilot wasn't as good as Sasha and Shea's overall because of Alexis' muted performance but she definitely the best performance.

Posted by: Adam May 20 2017, 01:15 PM

I think people are doing way too much with Alexis, and I think the show made too big a deal that she could be bottom two, too. She was fifth, but she was a COMFORTABLE fifth. She was perfectly good in the challenge, not standing out doesn't mean she was a disaster, and we had a group of two on our hands that was.

For me it was a really obvious bottom two, with a justified top two, and then a middle group where two could have had an argument for being high and one very clearly safe.

Someone messaged Michelle 'demanding' to know what went on and she just went 'ummm, did you WATCH the episode?'. It spoke for itself on all counts, imo.

01- Shea
02- Sasha
03- Peppermint

04- Nina
05- Trinity

06- Alexis

Alexis needs to go home next week...and I am starving for a Shea lip sync!!!

Posted by: Adam May 20 2017, 06:03 PM

Just rewatching it and props to Alexis for the line of the episode tbh. 'He said Dick AND Dyke!'. I screamed!

(Honourable mention to 'but how will i seem like a strong woman?' '..... vote, bitch'.

Shady of the editors to leave in the bit where Nina said she was the first to ever walk backwards on the runway.. three weeks after Trinity did it.

Posted by: DNQrella May 20 2017, 09:55 PM

This was a very uncomfortable episode to watch and from everyone's reaction I knew it was going to be Valentina. The show is edited in a way it's obvious too. Which is kind of annoying. I want some SHOCKING SURPRISE.

Anyway, glad Nina stayed. She's a real one of a kind character. You don't always agree with her but you still love her <3

Top 6 predix:

1. Shea
2. Sasha
3. Peppermint
4. Trinity
5. Nina
6. Alexis

Alexis probably staying until Top 4 though :///

I don't agree that Alexis was in comfortable 5th place this week. Being filler at this point is not a good thing. At least Nina and Valentina tried to go out there and be OTT and cray cray. Alexis just stayed in her own bubble and continued coasting through the competition which she does best. The only thing she's good at is imitating other existing people. All of the original characters and anything that involves her creativity have been mediocre at best. The rest of them are clearly leagues ahead of her in that. And I value creativity and ability to create something out of nothing over imitation.

Posted by: Kye May 21 2017, 01:34 AM

I'd read the spoilers so I knew what was coming and, as I saw it unfolding, I understand that it was only right that Valentina went home.
You can't lip sync with a mask on.. simple. I did a complete 360 on her watching Untucked. I don't believe for a second she forgot the words in a panic, bitch didn't think she was going to be in the bottom.
When she was sat listening to Greedy with Nina was probably the first time she'd even heard the song. She even said herself that she was so unprepared.
Her little monologue at the end was so disingenuous; "I saw myself in the top 3 too" rolleyes.gif There's being confident & then there's being cocky, she let her own hype screw her over.

The top 3 most consistent queens are Shea, Trinity & Sasha; totally slaying the rest. Peppermint took too long to get going but I must admit she's coming into her own.
Nina.. I can't even think too much about her because she gets on my nerves. Paints a variant of the same look every time, works herself up over nothing every time.. bored.

I agree with the comments about Alexis. Totally believes she's winning and thinks she's a cut above the rest but makes excuses and doesn't put the work in.
VERY glad that Peppermint & Trinity called her out on her BS this week, I think Ru & Michelle can definitely see through her.. Michelle dragged her this week, her look was a mess.

I think it's good to see the front runners lip sync for their life at least once because lip syncing often really shows if they have the stuff. Jinkx and Raja's lip syncs were some of their best moments and probably contributed to their wins. Funnily enough it was not when she won her first challenge but when she was bottom two that I really started to root for Trintiy. Shea's lip sync was...not great. It was fine but Trinity, Peppermint and even Aja or Alexis could have sent her home with their lip syncs.

Posted by: Cucumberella May 27 2017, 02:20 PM

Does anyone else think this season has had a sad undertone (or overtone). Charlie Hides' lip sync, Valentina's, Nina's self sabotage and defeated lip sync, Alexis' bitterness.

Shea was really good I thought! Gutted about Nina but 6th is about where I predicted for her. My favourite since the beginning but Trinity overtook her the other week and it was her time.

Can Alexis go next please then we have an incredible top 4.

1. Trinity
2. Sasha
3. Shea
4. Peppermint
5. Alexis

Posted by: Liаm May 30 2017, 12:06 AM

Josh *.* Bae Coulee indeed.

Good challenge, I love these sort of challenges and I think they actually all did quite well although Nina did seem to just give up. Shea did about all she could but was probably the weakest aside from Nina in the challenge so I agreed with the bottom 2. I lowkey wanted Nina to SLAY the lipsync and Shea be another shock (if only to shut the gays up about Valentina by shaking them with something else kink.gif) but it was Nina's time to go and Shea did slay the lipsync. I'm surprised she seems disappointed by it on Twitter, I thought she was pretty much perfect for the song and really on it with everything from her actual lip syncing to the way she moved around the stage and the whole aura of her performance.

I'm really coming around to both Sasha and Trinity! The latter especially, I am really coming around to a potential Trinity win but it still seems obvious that it will be Shea which I'm also fine with. I love Peppermint too so that will be a fab top 4 but I can't help but think Peppermint and maybe even Sasha or Trinity will fall below Alexis so she makes the final :/

01 Trinity
02 Shea
03 Sasha
04 Peppermint
05 Alexis

for me.

Definitely! Trinity stole it last week imo whereas I think Sasha's whole look for both of them was absolutely fab this time. Agree with the second point too actually, it seems most weeks have something like this and in the case of Valentina and Nina's they really built it up so it was like a shadow over the whole episode. Although I kind of felt like Nina's self doubt was a shadow over a few episodes, it felt for a few weeks that it was obvious her time was going to be up soon. It's a shame that such talent was eclipsed by that storyline.

I'm really finding it hard to watch, it's tedious since Valentina left sad.gif I just feel like there's no one left to properly root for, Sasha & Peppermint just don't QUITE have it. Shea, I feel as good as she is, I've seen it before. Then I just don't really like Trinity or Alexis at all.

Posted by: Addy K!ng Jun 3 2017, 05:14 AM

omg this was the best episode this season...from three runway looks to lip-sync for your life...enjoyed it every bits of it...amazing.

I am glad that the defeated queen finally has been sent home...she lasted two episodes too long for me.

And what a top 4 wub.gif

1 - Shea
2 - Sasha
3 - Trinity
4 - Peppermint

I think Sasha's rainbow look has to be one of my favourites of the season, it was the perfect example of her being intelligent and thinking about a concept without it being too deep so that nobody knows what it's about, it was a lovely touch! I do agree with Michelle she's perhaps more high fashion than drag at times, so I think she's probably the least likely of the top 3 (by that I mean Sasha, Shea and Trinity - let's be real, Peppermint isn't making it lmao) to win. But I'm happy with her winning tbh, it's a different and unique way to express herself using drag and her intelligence and I've really grown to appreciate that. Shea's "rainbow" look was fab too tbh, as were all of hers, I can't disagree with her being the winner with it being a ball in mind if we're getting pedantic kink.gif

I do really like all of the queens left but there is a clear gulf between Peppermint and the other 3. Absolutely killer personality but Trinity is right, her looks just aren't there compared to the others. It is a testament to how she sells them though that she has made top 4!

01 Shea
02 Sasha
03 Trinity
04 Peppermint

for me. I am coming round to Trinity but I don't feel like I get winner from her as things are. It has to be Shea for me really and I can see it being, Sasha I'd be fine with tbf but I just cant see it.

Posted by: DiamondHeart Jun 3 2017, 03:47 PM

That was one of my favourite episodes of not just the season but of all time! Loved Sasha and Shea's runway looks, they both deserved to win! The right person went home, should of left weeks ago.

Posted by: HausofSZA Jun 3 2017, 03:55 PM

Amazing episode. Sasha stole it in every direction for me.

Trinity is the personality (and the cop look omg) so she's still my favourite but every Sasha look was so on point. Really shocked Shea snatched it from her in the end..

1. Trinity
2. Sasha
3. Shea
4. Peppermint

LOVE all the top 4 though. heart.gif

Week by week Trinity has grown on me more and more, really hope she can win wub.gif if not her then Sasha pls.

Posted by: Joe. Jun 3 2017, 04:16 PM

I really liked Trinity's rainbow idea. All three of Sasha's looks were really brilliantly put together but I do agree with the judges that it's just not exciting as drag. My favourite overall looks were Shea and Trinity's rainbow looks, but all in all it wasn't a great ball episode, nothing compared to what Kim Chi brought last year. (Or even Chi Chi or Naomi)

I pretty much echo this entire post, and definitely the order as well as thinking Sasha deserved the win again. Sadly, I think this has handed Shea the win overall when I thought Trinity was just closing in on her.

Sasha's second look is amongst my favourite of the series though, as well as Trinity's last look.

Posted by: Joe. Jun 3 2017, 04:43 PM

Shea has now matched Sharon's record for most wins in a season. Not even Bianca managed that. There's no way she won't take the crown I'd say

Posted by: DNQrella Jun 4 2017, 08:44 AM

Can we talk about that lip sync? Peppermint slayed so f***ing hard omg. I was so living for her. Even without splits and acrobatics she manages to steal the show.

Sasha is so going next week as a surprise eliminee. sad.gif Shea must win the entire thing but i see Trinity snatching the crown now.

I can't see Peppermint not being 4th.

I agree, I think Peppermint will leave. Her runway looks have been far too sloppy for a queen who has been doing drag for so long, especially compared to these younger queens who are far more refined, polished and aware of their brand. I think Shea is the most obvious to win, but would love to see Trinity steal the crown.

Also I really want Nina and Valentina for AS3, they really were the backbone of the show. Not that I don't love it, I do but they were just so endearing.

Posted by: Liаm Jun 10 2017, 02:52 PM

Omg I knew they were going to pull that at the end after they made a point of assessing the journey the queens had been on and there was no bad feedback about anyone's song verse, dancing, overall performance, end lipsync or runway outfit! I think it's deserved though as I'd really struggle to pick who was weaker this week, Peppermint seemed the obvious pick to go and I suppose her runway was weakest but she really brought it and fought for it in the challenge. I still think Peppermint is the weak link though and has no chance of winning whereas I could kind of see any of the others winning. Shea is the obvious one with all the hallmarks and patterns of a winner, but Trinity has been on such a journey and I've made up my mind, I'm on Team Trinity *.*

Is it just me or was Shea really off-putting this week? Everyone was really reflecting on their journey, how they've grown and what the win would mean to them but I felt like she already has the crown on in her head because she's won the most challenges and has only really slipped once. She seemed a bit arrogant and complacent whereas the others really fought, but maybe that's just because Peppermint knows she had more to prove being in the bottom and Sasha and Trinity had to really work for it not being dancers and not doing music before. For nor doing dancing or music before, I think both of those two killed it in the challenge, especially Trinity who made up for a lack of musical background and initial poor rhythm but bringing her unique personality to the performance and making it funny. I'm team Trinity now because she has really been on the best journey, at the start you'd easily write her off but she had a real moment in 9021Ho and always kept adapting to every challenge even if it was out of her comfort zone, becoming much more than a typical paegant queen who relies on her body. I still think Shea will win, but I wouldn't be surprised as her or even Sasha. I'd be happy with Sasha, it took a good while but I've really come to appreciate the unique edge to her drag, it is more high fashion but that could be the next big thing in drag, and it's great to have something truly unique on this show.

Posted by: Cucumberella Jun 10 2017, 03:04 PM

i love high fashion drag so i would be fine with sasha, i hate the opinions that it's not drag enough--- since when?! not too mad at shea during the episode either, she's the shit and knows it - i would only be alienated if she'd gone off on one when she was shite (alexis michelle levels of delusion xxxx), and peppermint is so endearing, is a legend and does proper old school drag that i think would be brilliant to signify as a winner, plus trinity is a pageant queen winner (which i don't think we've had since bebe?!) who has completely shown what it means to break that mould

so basically im team anyone rn x

Posted by: HausofSZA Jun 10 2017, 03:07 PM

WHAT AN EPISODE. Every emotion in abundance.

So happy with the final result, even if Peppermint should've probably gone and left a KILLER top 3.

Posted by: Adam Jun 10 2017, 03:21 PM

I wouldn't have been mad to see Peppermint go based on record before the episode. I WOULD have been mad to see Peppermint go based on record after that episode.. she didn't put a single manicured nail wrong. Great result, great top 4 biggrin.gif

Posted by: Oliver Jun 10 2017, 05:39 PM

Yeah it was fairly obvious during the lip sync that no-one was going to go home.

Posted by: Oricon Jun 10 2017, 08:30 PM

By far Trinity should be one to win, purely because of how much she's progressed as the season went by as others have said. Initially I disliked her purely because of the stereotypical 'bitchy queen' type and nothing more but a pageant queen but the more I watch, the more funny she becomes. Not to mention the effort and extreme she tries to fight for the crown to show that she deserves it.

Shea for me is good, but a bit too 'safe' good (I don't know if I described her correctly here). All of her looks are good and she delivers but it's just...there. Maybe it's because of the consistency and for that reason it seems like she's planted in her head that RuPaul has already given the win to her (a bit like Valentina thinking she would be Top 3 easily) and it's extremely off putting.

Sasha is an interesting one. Being the first season I've watched she got my attention from the early stages for being unique and different to others using a combination of intelligence and high fashion (especially the latter as I LOVE fashion *.*). I don't know whether in previous seasons there were queens like her. That being said I'm starting to grow a bit tired of her looks as it is quite predictable but hey she's sticking to her roots every episode so props to her.

Peppermint just...needs to go. Honestly I do get the hardship she's probably had due to being a transgender queen but outside of that she just doesn't deliver in the runway for me. Should've been Valentina instead!!!

So ranking:

Trinity -> Sasha -> Shea -> Peppermint

Posted by: Cucumberella Jun 10 2017, 09:19 PM

i totally understand the 'safe' win.. it's a complacency about knowing she's amazing and she's doing well but i would like her to be more daring, but she hands down definitely did the best of everyone track record wise

My choice would be -
1. Trinity
2. Sasha
3. Shea
4. Peppermint

But I really don't see that happening. I really think Trinity has been the most deserving.
I think it'll go like this -
1. Shea
2. Sasha
3. Peppermint
4. Trinity

Posted by: DiamondHeart Jun 11 2017, 04:17 PM

I wish Peppermint just left, she's admiring but she's not on the same level as the other girls for me. Ru probably just pulled that to win a second emmy, felt so unnecessary if I'm honest. Happy with whoever wins, but I do think Shea's got it in the bag although I'd equally love the others to knab it too.

Different format for the finale, we still don't know the winner but...

They have to lip sync for the crown. First is Trinity V Sasha, apparently its very close but Sasha manages to take it. Then Shea V Peppermint. Peppermint takes it. The winner is between Sasha and Peppermint, both lip synced and Ru filmed the crowning of both of them. Neither Shea or Trinity are the winners.

Posted by: Oliver Jun 12 2017, 11:54 AM

I thought it was Sasha v Shea and Trinity v Peppermint? I heard Shea just gave up half way through the lip sync, and that Peppermint did a reveal/tearaway that was better than the entire of Trinity's lip sync.

Yeah it's f***ing stupid really. Was saying to Liam yesterday it's almost enough to stop me watching, especially if this is going to be the norm going forward. Yes, they had to lip sync to win in the early seasons but the queen that had done the best was always one of the top two).

Posted by: RobBob Jun 12 2017, 01:14 PM

Can we refrain for making ANY comments that indicate anything outside of spoilers please? If it's possible for me to avoid seeing absolutely anything (which I feel is going to be near on impossible at this rate), then I'd like to. But even "nearly enough to make me stop watching" gives some indication as to what is going on.

Posted by: Kye Jun 12 2017, 01:16 PM

It's just ridiculous?! It makes all the challenges and their journeys irrelevant if it comes down to lip syncing.
Being great at lip syncing isn't the epitome of being an amazing drag queen, I think it's a real miss on Ru's part.
It was one small, enjoyable element which helped Ru decide between the bottom 2 each week, not decide who is the top 2 overall?!
Why have them doing reads, mini challenges, themed looks, major challenges..if it all comes down to 'Which Drag Queen Lip Syncs Best?'.. that's NOT the show.

I know people love Peppermint but there is no way in hell does she and her baggy crotch deserve to be top 2 in this season. So unjust.

Posted by: Liаm Jun 12 2017, 03:28 PM

Tbh I was thinking earlier, with the refused lipsync from Charlie and then the defeated one from Nina, maybe Ru wants to show that you can't avoid lipsyncing and show it's an integral part? But then they all lipsynced last time... I know this sounds like heresy but I barely pay attention to lipsyncs lmaoo, like when it's the show obv I watch and I'll be like "x was better" but I do think it's laughable to make the whole season about lipsyncs, because for example Shea has won 4 challenges but that doesn't matter because she didn't win a lipsync... I do like all 4 but Peppermint top 2 is laughable, I hope she doesn't win just because of the trans arc because that's kind of what it feels like. She just isn't as unique as Sasha, she hasn't been on the journey and improved like Trinity has, and she isn't as polished as Shea. She's absolutely lovely, Miss Congeniality worthy, but she just isn't a winner at all, by any stretch. I think at this point it will be Sasha for something totally different, but I wouldn't be shocked at all at Peppermint :/

Jaymes Mansfield seems so much funnier and more likeable in the countdown to the crown videos on WOW today compared to the muted personality on the actual show!

Posted by: Joe. Jun 17 2017, 08:45 AM

Jaymes was gone too soon she had so much more to give than Kimora did IMO.

That reunion episode was BRUTAL, everyone was bitter, everyone was defensive, no one held back. Shea came across as a totally different person, Sasha came across and superiorly patronising and condescending as usual. Val was borderline robotic. Aja was petty. Farrah was hilarious.

Trintiy throws so much direct shade but comes across so genuine. I LOVE HA.

Posted by: Aaron. Jun 18 2017, 07:53 PM

That reunion was brutal, I think the only one that came across any good was probably Eureka.
I don't know why the girls were going so hard for Charlie. Just let the girl be! God it was like beating a dead horse.
Out of the 4 Finalists.. I thought perhaps Trinity came off the best. Shea the worst.
Thank god Cynthia was pretty much invisible.

Posted by: Joe. Jun 24 2017, 10:34 AM

Shea did NOTHING. What the f*** Shea? You slay the entire competition and then let yourself get torn apart so easily by cute gimmicks in an ugly dress?

Agree with Chris Trintity should have had that first lip sync but Pepper's reveal was really well timed and nicely done. It's a shame both of her outfits were ugly.

The last lip sync was the most tame of them both but Peppermint was kind of swallowed up by yet another ugly outfit with too much going on.

Keep it.

Posted by: Kye Jun 24 2017, 11:21 AM

I didn't realise that it was bring your best gimmick and lip sync to win the crown.

Trinity was robbed of that first lip sync. Worst finale.

Posted by: Joe. Jun 24 2017, 11:36 AM

I mean, gimmicks or not, Sasha won that fair and square. But did she win the show fair and Square? That is my question.

Posted by: RobBob Jun 24 2017, 01:02 PM

I didn't get the winner I wanted (Trinity), I didn't get the runner up I wanted (Shea). That aside - I disagree with you guys and think it was the best finale I've EVER watched. I remember watching the final live as it aired in the USA last year and me & my ex just spent most of it playing with another because it was so boring. This was such an event of the final - so what if we didn't get the winner we wanted?! That was a FINAL. Every lip sync had a gasp moment and Sasha deserved it on the night.

I feel for Shea though, disposed of so easily when she would've walked any other series. But, seriously, wow @ the format and I'd welcome its return next year. That said, if there's any way that can possibly help try and keep leaks from coming out, it'd be great because it was near on impossible to avoid spoilers.

Posted by: Oliver Jun 24 2017, 02:18 PM

I'd rather it went back to he traditional way, I didn't really feel it with someone coasting through to 2nd place after only winning one challenge and LSFYL twice. Yes Peppermint was good at a lip sync and stand up but she proved to be pretty mediocre at everything else, and it kinda makes all the challenges meaningless. Might as well just have a lip sync knockout competition. Even Raven won two challenges and I think she was the least deserving out of everyone who finished second before this season.

Sasha deserved to win based on the lip syncs, even though she was VERY reliant on gimmicks. Whether she deserved to win it based on the entire competition is another story.

Posted by: RobBob Jun 24 2017, 02:25 PM

I'd say any of Shea, Trinity or Sasha did enough in the competition to deserve it though. Maybe they isn't necessarily the best way to judge a winner, but it sure showed up for the second time this series that Shea doesn't have the wow factor when it comes to lip syncs. And, ultimately, when you see one of these queens live, the likelihood is that you'll be seeing them lip sync so I would argue it is kinda the most important part.

If Peppermint had won it though, yes, I agree it would've made a bit of a mockery of everything leading up to it.

Posted by: Oliver Jun 24 2017, 02:33 PM

Oh yeah I completely agree with you regarding Shea's lip syncing. And yes the lip sync is important, but then I just get flashbacks of Alyssa Edwards saying she would "lip sync her way to the crown" and that's a defeatest attitude when they should be good or at least competent at everything.

I guess every queen is bad at something though (apart from Bianca laugh.gif).

Posted by: Liаm Jun 24 2017, 02:38 PM

I think Sasha deserved both of those lipsyncs, Shea for one was totally defeated, perhaps she knew being friends with Sasha she was liekly to lose, but this is the point where you have to fight for it. Peppermint put up more of a fight, I could have made a case for Trinity winning that lipsync but I think it was the correct top 2 based on the lipsyncs, but not on the season. I think Sasha was fab all season and isn't an undeserving winner, but it's just that neither Trinity nor Shea made the top 2, when the former went on a real journey and the latter slayed basically every challenge. I came around to Sasha a lot after not liking her much to start with, so I am happy with her winning especially as she was the one who REALLY fought for it and knocked it out the park. I could have made a case for any of Shea/Sasha/Trinity winning so I'm not mad.

So all in all I'm mixed. I agree with Rob it was my fave final, it just made it more exciting and tense than before (even though I'd seen the spoilers, it was just more exciting to watch), I think if they do it again I'll try haarder to avoid spoilers because it would be such a moment with the shocks and different format. It did undermine the challenges, but I'm more eh at Peppermint being top 2 than Sasha winning. Sasha did have two wins with Shea, but I think I'd have given her both of them on her own if there was only one winner, so her and Shea would both have 2. Plus she was high for a good number of weeks and is something different. Peppermint top 2 was a bit stupid though, as said above she only really excelled at lipsyncing and stand up and then coasted a lot of the series. For her to beat Trinity and Shea on one lipsync was a bit shit. But I suppose coming 2nd or 4th hardly matters and I expet one or both of Shea and Trinity will be on All Stars 3 (Trixie to win tho sill soz).

Posted by: RobBob Jun 24 2017, 02:42 PM

Shea AND Trinity on All Stars 3 sets up for a fantastic season. I know Trixie is hugely popular but Shea has to be one of the most successful non-winners EVER which sets her in good stead.

AHH, I can't stop watching all three lip syncs, each one of them absolutely ESSENTIAL.

SHOOK.

Posted by: Liаm Jun 24 2017, 02:43 PM

I suppose it's better this way, as they are apparently doing All Stars 3 soon rather than in a couple of years I thought there'd be too few big contenders, but this has added 2 alongside Trixie.

Trinity was f***ing robbed in that first lip sync though, she should have been in the top 2 for sure.

Anyway, predictions for AS3??

Valentina
Shea Coulee
Trinity Taylor
Peppermint
Chi Chi De'Vayne
Trixie Mattell
Shangela
Naomi Smalls
Morgan McMichaels
Kim Chi

Maybe they wouldn't put all Naomi, Kim & Trixie on one season to stop it being best friends race; perhaps they would put on Pearl instead although I hope not. I would love to see Milk, Trinity K Bonet, Mariah Balenciaga and Acid Betty be outside shots too. Obviously if Adore, Courtney or Willam would agree, they would be front-runners but I can never see it happening.

Obviously they might still wait another season and then we also have a new batch of queens to add.

no sexing during the RPDR finale. that's like the #1 gay rule!!!

agree tho. I LOVED this format. it didn't feel TOO rushed despite the time constraints as well. so glad they moved the congeniality part and the interviews to the reunion. this now focuses on the top 4 queens which is good!

my bf got spoiled about the winner on some completely unrelated website after it aired and before we were able to watch the episode. Sasha was his favourite from day one. after the past couple of weeks i also joined #teamsasha because Shea just became a bit predictable and boring. she slayed the first challenges and the acting/comedy ones are my favourites so it seemed like an easy pick. couldn't let myself root for Peppermint to win and Trinity, although occasionally hilarious, has never grown on me that much. sasha was never boring and always consistent and this is why she is the clear winner to me out of that Top 4.

that peppermint reveal in the first lip sync had me GAGGING. SO well-timed. If Trinity did hers at the same time she could've snatched it because she was leading all the way until that last 30 seconds.

can i just defend Sasha and her 'cute gimmicks'? she clearly put emotion into her performances and I'm sure the rose petals had some deeper meaning and not just 'oh look let me pour roses out of my wig lol' (i'm not good at deciphering them so won't even try oops). this is the thing. you gotta have people remember you, gotta make that impact. various acrobatic stunts and splits etc. are also basically 'gimmicks' if you think about it but nobody criticises queens who do it (apart from the time it's overdone and inappropriate for the song *cough* milan). so if you can't or choose to not rely on your sex appeal, aren't flexible then ideas and 'gimmicks' like that are just as powerful and VALID as anything else.

exactly - props in a performance??? what's wrong with that? it's almost as if anything impressive in a lipsync that isn't just standing and lipsyncing the words is a gimmick lmao

it wasn't even inappropriately used in sasha's case - so emotional with a beauty and the beast / he loves me, he loves me not rose petal theme works

The roses were a lovely addition and it upsets me that people see it as a gimmick. She does her drag bald as a homage to her mother who died of cancer, so that wig coming off and "bleeding" beautiful roses showed that there is beauty to be found in her mother's illness and passing.

I found the finale so high-octane and gripping. I've only seen the finales of S4 and S5 previously and they're so TAME with the contestants not having to give one last final push so I welcomed the lip syncs. I don't think so much weight should be put on them and more should be put on the series as a whole but either with that I think Sasha was a worthy winner. Was rooting for Trinity but Sasha did good.

I love the Beauty and the Beast connotations too!

That's the thing, it's not a performance, it's a lip sync (what part of that do you not understand laugh.gif ) It's not 'perform for the crown'.
I know over the years, the format has extended to allow for the wig snatching and the likes but the main focus is to lip sync the song.

I'm not even mad about Sasha, I made my comment when I'd seen Peppermint win over Trinity which was b u l l.
Peppermint won because of her dress, not the actual lip sync and it was a shock because Peppermint's 'Music' lip sync is one of my all-time favourites.
Despite the acrobatics and the reveal, Trinity's lip sync was better. Peppermint was all arms and you could see she was nervously just waiting for the 'reveal'.

I don't begrudge Sasha the crown, I can really get behind her as a winner. I think she's interesting and she stands out amongst the other winners.
It's not as if she hadn't performed well throughout the season, she was clean, polished, well thought out and acted her ass off.

i hope valentina isn't in the next all stars. or if she is i want a villaintina extravaganza where she gets eliminated episode 2 and kicks rupaul in the teeth

my comment was by no means directed at you, it's more the response to everyone in the reddit / RPDR world saying that they don't like 'gimmicks' in a performance in general - back to alaska in all stars as well etc.

although i'll be honest i don't really understand your first statement, lip sync and performance are not really exclusive of each other, it is a lip sync performance (i think ru's even used that phrase before), lip sync would fall under the category of performance as a blanket term just like a dancing performance etc, and plus if we were to focus on just a lip sync itself then we'd need to strip dancing out too etc

i do think sasha won the lipsync for so emotional even without gimmicks tbh but shea didn't get a lot of airtime in that performance (sad.gif) which might make me think that

Posted by: Cucumberella Jun 25 2017, 11:51 AM

i do absolutely agree that trinity won that first lipsync hands down but i think ru didn't go for it because trinity vs. sasha may have lead to trinity outshining, i think ru rly wanted a sasha win

I loved Sasha's helmet and outfit in the final lipsync and how it came apart. MONEY. So good. I preferred that to the roses tbh.

omg can we also talk about how *.*.*.* using the thunderpuss remix of it's not right but it's okay was????? easily my fave choice of lipsync song yet (beating faith evans 'mesmerised')!

Oh, I know! I'm sorry, I didn't mean it to look like a rant at you. I was just elaborating further on my points because I didn't yesterday.

I think lip sync and performance are exclusive in this sense, though. If you were allowed to just 'perform' then Ru wouldn't have had an issue with Valentina just dancing.
Ru wants to see you lip sync the song and how you style it out (and most queens don't use 'props').
My point was that if Peppermint didn't have the dress reveal, she'd have lost the lip sync.. and yet, the dress has nothing to do with lip syncing. I'm just super bitter that Peppermint got top 2 laugh.gif

I do understand your point. Overall, lip sync could fall under the blanket term of performance but, to me, this is a specific type of performance.

I completely agree that Sasha won her lip sync before the 'gimmick' too. I've seen Shea lip sync videos outside of Drag Race and I wouldn't say she was particularly good at it.

Posted by: Joe. Jun 25 2017, 12:14 PM

Yeah, I know only Rob agreed with me but I really still do stand by that Shea wasn't particularly good on Cool For The Summer either.

at the end of the day lip sync (within RPDR at least) absolutely needs to have elements of show. one may argue that chi chi won that 'and i am telling you' lip sync without any props (and she certainly did!) but the performance is also remembered by the jewelry malfunction which could count as a prop, even if none of that was planned. it's just part of the deal. if they put each queen in a 4 square meter circle which they are not allowed to step out of or use any props throughout, the show would probably end in season 3. and peppermint's reveal while not exactly super in line with the song and the lyrics was so effective visually and did the job.

I'm not saying that they have to stand still, I even said that Peppermints dancing and how she acted in the 'Music' lip sync is amongst my favourite EVER. That's because she used the music and werked the lip sync. Had she done something like that on the finale along with the dress then I would have had absolutely nothing to say. It's when they rely on gimmicks to make it memorable.

For me, the reason it was the correct decision is two fold: 1) Trinity was good.. but she looked really similar to how she did in her LAST Britney lip sync, she dropped to her knees in the same way, she did the same forward roll. It was strong, and she was beating Pep, but it was a repeat. Coupled with 2) the absolute GAG of Pep's reveal - surely the strongest of all time, I literally screamed - which was strong enough to shoot her into the lead and take it. It wasn't even a question for me, she stole the scene in that there moment even if she wasn't the most consistent all song.

Sasha.. not my preferred winner, and in fact my fourth preference, but she killed it on the night and her track record, especially that outside of her wins when she was nearly always high - made her deserving. I do think Shea was being really on point in her response to the music but Sasha was superb during So Emotional.

The final lip sync was closer, both were really strong throughout, but I can see why it went to Sasha. It might be flawed but what is exciting about it is it means the winner can't be predicted based on stats - weren't we all saying 'oh we know Shea will win, she has four wins' as if it'd be boring? Well, they didn't serve you that.. a really exciting finale!

I've just watched the final now and for me I think this was my preferred top 2 and my preferred winner. I absolutely love Sasha during the final, both her performances gave me LIFE. I actually think Peppermint's fit with Stronger and the theme of the song in a way. It felt like a real moment for the climax of the song and I thought that her performance after the reveal became more powerful, or 'Stronger' if you will. So she was literally 'stronger than yesterday'

This is the first season I've actually watched in full, I've seen bits and pieces from others, and I really really enjoyed it.
