It really is a banger of a song!!! How it did not reach number 1 is beyond me.

1- LADY (HEAR ME TONIGHT)- Modjo (78,000)
2- ON A NIGHT LIKE THIS- Kylie Minogue (51,000) 3- NATURAL- S Club 7 (39,500) 4- SKY- Sonique (36,000) 5- ORDINARY WORLD- Aurora Ft Naimee Coleman (34,000) 6- OVERLOAD- Sugababes (33,000) 7- ABSOLUTELY EVERYBODY- Vanessa Amorosi (32,000) 8- IT DOESN’T MATTER- Wyclef Jean (32,000) 9- BIG BROTHER THEME- Element 4 (30,000) 10- WITH MY OWN EYES- Sash! (28,000) #2/#3/#5/#6/#7/#10 were all new entries, and as we can see from the sales, Sugababes were very close to the Top 5. Judging by the chart runs, Sugababes were robbed of a Top 5 peak considering it held up better in the charts than Aurora (in fact, initially better than Kylie and S Club 7 too): 02-11-18-25-40-49-59-00-00-00-00-86-82-91-00-00-75-86-90. Kylie 03-10-14-26-37-33-37-49-57-70-72-75-73-00-00-73-56-71-78. S Club 7 05-13-24-37-50-62-70. Aurora 06-09-09-15-21-28-35-53. Sugababes I'd make a case that Overload is better remembered than everything above it, bar Lady (Hear Me Tonight). But at the time it didn't seem surprising that Sugababes charted lower than Kylie and S Club 7. Edit: Then again, On a Night Like This went silver more quickly than Overload did! Sales at the end of 2000: Overload - 138k, On a Night Like This - 122k, but Overload went Silver on 29th March 2019, after On a Night Like This (18th May 2018). |

I think Overload was held back a bit because Mutya was still 15 at that point so they were restricted in how much they could promote / work. But yeah, it had a good chart run and is definitively more well-remembered than most #6 hits.

That’s right! Since they were under 18 there were only a set amount of hours they were allowed to promote. Whereas they said when they hit 18 they were given more opportunity to promote, which allowed Angels to be successful and pushed out there.

It’s one of their worst singles for me. I like it live but definitely not a song I’d miss.

Mutya wasn’t 18 until the release of Hole In The Head & Three! They achieved a really remarkable amount of things at an extremely young age. They have three albums aged 20 years by the end of this year and none of them are yet 40! |

Great to see One Touch tracks getting their time in the sun in a huge arena. Justice served
