QUOTE
"Well, girls are often just flip-floppy. They say something and they mean something else. So … what do you mean? I don’t really know, that’s why I’m asking."

The song is described as fun and pretty summery and he added:

"Definitely the first single is amazing. I worked really hard on it with a guy named Poo Bear. It’s really uplifting, clear, poppy, but cool. The sounds are super expensive. Skrillex is a genius. He’s super futuristic and I just love his sound. So to be able to incorporate that sound with what I’m doing has been super cool because it’s new and fresh. I feel like no one has done it before. I’m very excited."

There is a very short snippet featuring the title line http://www.josepvinaixa.com/blog/justin-bieber-what-do-you-mean/ ohmy.gif

It sounds cool, I am ready heart.gif

That snippet

It's been way too long and I am SO excited for this!!!

Posted by: Liаm Jul 29 2015, 04:47 PM

Where R U Now was great, I hope this continues that standard because when Justin brings it (eg As Long As You Love Me *.*), he brings it.

Posted by: barbaric_dan Jul 29 2015, 04:51 PM

I'm very excited that he's finally embracing the dancing. We don't have enough dancing popstars wub.gif

(All an assumption, haven't heard the clip... I just assumed with Skrillex involved).

Posted by: Rooney Jul 29 2015, 08:02 PM

Cannot wait for this.

The clip sounds really good.

Posted by: Cody Slayberry Jul 30 2015, 03:03 AM

I love his pseudo-EDM music ("Beauty And A Beat" will always remain my fave by him), so I'm really excited for this.

Plus, SKRILLEX wub.gif wub.gif Biebs needs to collaborate with Madeon and my life will be complete

30 second snippet here: http://www.josepvinaixa.com/blog/justin-bieber-what-do-you-mean/

This is sounding very very good ohmy.gif

Posted by: KWEEN_DEE Aug 26 2015, 02:33 PM

Sounds really good.

Posted by: 'SPADZ' tho :/ Aug 26 2015, 02:39 PM

Produced by SKRILLEX you say? thinking.gif now I'm interested! Beauty and a Beat is his best ever (produced by Zedd no doubt helped that tongue.gif ) and WAUN is great too so look forward to hearing this!

Posted by: jark Aug 26 2015, 07:32 PM

That clip is pretty sensational.

Posted by: Robot Aug 27 2015, 01:18 PM

I'm not particularly a Bieber fan, always unsurprisingly found him a bit of a knob with music that was pretty good but very often fantastic, but I have high expectations for this and I'm still loving 'Where Are U Now' which I feel like I won't tire of at all. Really hoping he can deliver with this, I'm actually behind him to get good success with hopefully a great track to boot.

Posted by: Ryan. Aug 27 2015, 02:10 PM

Well I'm a bit more interested in this now it has tropical house influences!

You can listen here! On first listen, it's decent, follows the popularity of songs like Are You With Me, but I'm a bit disappointed, had hoped for a bit more oomph than that from Justin.

Posted by: J▲hq Aug 27 2015, 11:07 PM

I really like it. Love the chilled vibe. Wouldn't have minded something with more oomph but this is very different for him and sounds like a huge smash.

Posted by: Ryan. Aug 27 2015, 11:08 PM

Well I haven't liked any of his songs, so this is immediately his best as I really like it! If it continues to grow on me it could be the first Justin single I ever buy, but we'll see. Great song though, I'd like to see it be successful.

Posted by: JosephStyles Aug 27 2015, 11:10 PM

This is his most instant single for me easily, so so good (I wasn't sold on first listen with Boyfriend, still not massively sold on Heartbreaker lol, wasn't a fan at the time of One Time/Baby). A tad repetitive but not in a grating way like it is in songs like Route 94 - My Love. Very solid effort.

Posted by: Cremey Aug 27 2015, 11:10 PM

YES JB 🙌🏻
Unsurprisingly love this.

Posted by: jase. Aug 27 2015, 11:11 PM

It's a bit of a non-event really

Posted by: Kuki Sanban Aug 27 2015, 11:18 PM

It doesn't really ever get going does it. It might grow on me but I'm very underwhelmed here. The instrumental is cute though I guess.

Posted by: mr_pmt Aug 27 2015, 11:23 PM

It's pretty brilliant, possibly his best ever!

One of my friends the other day commented that 'Where Are U Now' is his revival song and that seems like a fair comment, it sets this up pretty nicely. I wish him all the best with it!

Posted by: 100% ~spadam~ 😎 Aug 28 2015, 12:30 AM

Produced by Skrillex but far from WAUN for me.

Posted by: Danvicii Aug 28 2015, 12:11 PM

I didn't think I'd like this cos Justin Bieber, but yeah this is actually good.

Posted by: Jaÿ Aug 28 2015, 12:18 PM

I could easily see this becoming my favourite Bieber song yet, it's great!

Posted by: HausEveryWeekend Aug 28 2015, 12:21 PM

This is adorable <3 proper beauty of a song.

Posted by: *Tim Aug 28 2015, 01:15 PM

This is rly good. Not as good as Boyfriend or his other Believe singles right now, but I really like it. Biebs 4 #1

Posted by: Chez Wombat Aug 28 2015, 01:25 PM

I thought Where Are U Now would be a one-off for him, but no I'll admit it, this is rather good! (Which automatically makes it the best thing he's ever done as a lead artist). This Diplo kind of sound is definitely something he should stick with.

Posted by: Maurice Horan Aug 28 2015, 02:37 PM

Gave it a listen after the good comments on here but i find it quite boring tbh.

Posted by: Cody Slayberry Aug 28 2015, 03:33 PM

This is the Bieber I want to listen to, not the generic urban crap from two years ago. Certainly an evolution for him.

I like how it's subtle, yet it just hits you in some way.

Short video preview at 1:40

Sounds like it's coming next week (not having another month long countdown)!! biggrin.gif

Posted by: Qassändra Aug 28 2015, 05:55 PM

It's NICE but doesn't really go anywhere - you've pretty much heard it all in the first thirty seconds. Which isn't necessarily a killer for a track, but I feel like the hook isn't really strong enough to carry over for three and a half minutes.

Also half the lyrics being 'WHAT DO YOU MEAN' makes it feel like a repetitive conversation with someone ESPECIALLY DIM

Give me Boyfriend and PASS THE FONDUE BUCKET

Posted by: KWEEN_DEE Aug 28 2015, 11:17 PM

I just wish it had a dancier beat... more AATW plz beebs.

Posted by: 100% ~spadam~ 😎 Aug 28 2015, 11:46 PM

I'm quite liking this now! cheer.gif

Posted by: Rooney Aug 29 2015, 10:03 AM

Think this could be fav song of the year so far, only problem is that it would have been better released in June because it's so summery.

Posted by: JimmyT Aug 29 2015, 11:00 AM

Nah. Pretty disappointing on first listen.
A combination of boring and wetness. (Where are U now-is much better).

Posted by: Jonjo Aug 29 2015, 11:25 AM

Have to agree with Qassandra on this. It's nice but it really doesn't go anywhere for me! I love some tropical house, but the tracks I do love, go somewhere! This just plods along in a "it's pleasant enough" sort of way.

Posted by: Liаm Aug 29 2015, 11:29 AM

Eh I agree as well that this is just nice really. Maybe it will grow because I like tropical house (a lot more of much of the other chilled dance we've had to suffer) but it's too repetitive, a bit like Where R U Now but I think I prefer that. In theory I like it, it's just how repetitive it is that's quite a big drawback for me, it prevents the song from doing anything other than just coasting along.

Posted by: ┌ ╫ ┘ Aug 29 2015, 01:06 PM

that beat sounds like an adhd grandfather clock in places, too loud in the mix

it's pretty dreadful in all honesty, it's an allegorical tale of justin's brain process.

Posted by: Henderella Aug 29 2015, 01:25 PM

Yeah, not a fan of this too. The hook is not catchy enough and the thing is really repetitive.

Music Video:

Posted by: JosephBieber Aug 31 2015, 03:22 AM

Excellent video there I think, a lot of fun to watch and boy does he look good heart.gif

The VMA performance with Where Are U Now was mostly good too, some ropey vocal moments but I'd put that down to the heavy dance routine. Big boost on UK iTunes please to secure that #1!

Posted by: Hayzayy Aug 31 2015, 10:10 AM

He's such a terrible actor it's funny laugh.gif
And while watching the video I couldn't not stop seeing that new girl from Orange is the new black, they kind of look alike laugh.gif

Posted by: J▲hq Aug 31 2015, 11:04 AM

I feel it's stronger in the final minute and that the first half is there to showcase his body and promote Calvin Klein. The song has a really summery vibe and I don't get that from the video at all. laugh.gif

Posted by: Dobbo Aug 31 2015, 11:38 AM

This is a really strong track from him. Carrying on the Skrillex sound was a very good move & I hope this is the direction his new material is heading towards!

This is more OMI thank Skrillex/Jack Ü though...

Posted by: *Tim Aug 31 2015, 09:12 PM

It's not OMI in the slightest tho

Posted by: Calum Hood Aug 31 2015, 10:01 PM

The video *.*

The song keeps growing as well, yeah it doesn't really go anywhere, but it's just nice and chill.

Posted by: Rooney Sep 4 2015, 06:26 PM

Amazing this is #1. So many people that usually hate him like this song - honestly such stigma attached in music it's unreal.

Posted by: JosephBieber Sep 4 2015, 06:41 PM

I'm so happy he's finally got a UK #1 to his name, and this is a great song to get there too. I think it's gonna hang around very well also!

Posted by: KWEEN_DEE Sep 4 2015, 06:59 PM

Surprised it's #1 TBH.

Posted by: Jonjo Sep 6 2015, 01:51 PM

Ok. I'm completely in love with this now. wub.gif

Posted by: Ethan Sep 6 2015, 03:22 PM

not usually a fan, but i love this~ heart.gif

Posted by: gooddelta Sep 6 2015, 03:27 PM

Definitely his best in a good while for me too, since Fall in 2012 (?). Singles wise it's my favourite of his to date easily.

Posted by: JosephBieber Sep 6 2015, 03:36 PM

It's easily his best since the Believe era for me, I'm quite happy to pretend most of Journals didn't happen ph34r.gif This is a great direction for him anyway and I'm delighted it's paid off so well!

Posted by: Atonement Sep 6 2015, 04:04 PM

'Beauty and a Beat' is still my favorite thing he has done but this takes second place (excluding 'Where Are U Now?').

Posted by: Red. Sep 6 2015, 11:30 PM

Not a Justin Bieber fan haha but when I heard this the day it got it's first play on Radio 1 I was surprised how good this is! Really good beat on it and super catchy!

Posted by: Luciano Sep 8 2015, 03:06 PM

I've never liked Justin's music but this song is really good, so I'm glad this is so successful.
