Never should have gone off air. BBC Three produces some great content and taking it away when it was well watched by the younger age groups was just some absolute snobbish bullshit

Russian-backed news channel RT has disappeared from all broadcast platforms in the UK.

UK access to the TV network, formerly called Russia Today, has been affected by a ban imposed by the European Union.

Although the UK is no longer in the EU, the bloc applied sanctions to satellite companies in Luxembourg and France, which provided the RT feed to Sky, Freesat and Freeview.

RT said "the facade of free press in Europe has finally crumbled".

UK Culture Secretary Nadine Dorries, who has described the channel as "Putin's polluting propaganda machine", said she hoped it would not return to UK screens.

"As part of a concerted effort and discussions, Russia Today is no longer streamed into British homes, either by TV, Sky, Freesat or Freeview," she told the House of Commons on Thursday.

"And we have contacted both [Facebook owner] Meta and TikTok to implore them to stop streaming Russia Today via their own online platforms.

"It is my absolute position that we will not stop until we have persuaded every organisation, based in the UK or not, that is the wrong thing to do to stream Russian propaganda into British homes."

BBC have made changes to Saturday's evening schedule with Casualty now airing just one episode from 9:20pm rather than a double bill which was scheduled 8:40-10pm, due to the dropping of one episode as a result of the recent school shooting in America due to the main story in that dropped episode centring on a school shooting.

C4 Edinburgh news

QUOTE
Ian Katz described the glut of reboots as "TV's microwave moment" as he unveiled plans to earmark an extra £100m over the next three years for comedy, drama and reality formats on Channel 4.

The £100m investment marks a "significant dialling up" of the reality, drama and comedy genres, Katz said, adding that the latter, in particular, is "more central" than it ever has been to C4's programming, noting the recent recommissions of Big Boys, Hullraisers and The Curse.

Katz denied having any interest in bringing back Big Brother, following ITV's decision to reboot the show and took the opportunity to criticse the number of old formats being revived by broadcasters. He acknowledged that C4 has contributed to the trend, with its own revivals of Changing Room and The Big Breakfast.

"If C4 is about anything, it had to be about looking for that new dish or recipe," he said, hailing upcoming reality formats Make Me a PM and Rise & Fall as examples of the "big, difficult ideas" that C4 is known for.
