Just finished watching this series, a Disney+ adaptation of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, starring Walker Scobell as the titular character. I didn't know anything about Percy Jackson before watching this but I'd seen a clip or two and it looked really promising, and I'm so happy I did. The character moments, the storyline, the pacing, and the world-building! All perfect. A strong contender for my favourite show of 2024 already. Really hoping a season 2 renewal is confirmed soon - with lots of social media buzz, high ratings and very strong critic reviews, it's hard to see it not being renewed.

Has anyone else watched?

I've just finished the season and I can't help feeling a little underwhelmed by how it all ended, oop sad.gif The first half of the season was excellent - I think they struck gold and introduced the whole world and concept perfectly. Percy as a main character is very likeable, and the cast on the whole they pretty much nailed (Luke, Annabeth and Grover are all brilliant) . All of the characters were well fleshed out and the storyline was interesting and mysterious, but then come episodes 7 and 8 it just... all rushed to resolve x, y and z in very low-stakes ways, before moving onto foreshadowing what's coming next. Percy works out Luke actually stole the bolt and Luke just... runs off to Kronos? k. They'd better be a major part of season 2 lol.

Definitely going to stick with it and hope it manages to find its feet with delivering more high-stakes drama and conflict to go alongside the great character moments, because there were glimmers of it in the first few episodes then it just kind of fizzled out sadly.
