As much as I love them, I hope Ant & Dec don't do a James Cordon and return for a further two years afterwards. It's nice to get a bit of variety in!
Pam Hogg as been revealed as the designer for the awards statues that will be given out during the ceremony. Each category has its own design to make it unique for the winner.
I really hope Years & Years and Little Mix get best group nominations, Lana for international female. And that Adele takes all the awards Jess Glynne would have potentially won (other than breakout).
The BRITs Critics' Choice Award 2016 nominees have been announced.
Up for the prize:
Jack Garratt
Frances
Izzy Bizu
On Wednesday 25/11/15, all three artists will be recording a Critics' Choice Award session at Abbey Road.
The winner will be announced on Friday 27/11/15.
Other News:
- MasterCard will be teaming up with The BRIT Awards as its sponsorship partner for the 18th year running.
- There will be a BRIT Awards 2016 album which will be released through Warner Music.
- BBC Worldwide will distribute the programme internationally, whilst obviously ITV will be the awards ceremony's home here in the UK.
- Eventim will handle the awards ceremony's ticketing with those attending the show being given a 'collectable FanTicket'.
- The BRIT Awards are now on Snapchat. By adding 'brits', users can receive access to the latest news and behind the scenes action.
Jack Garratt will easily be the Critic's Choice Award winner, never even heard of the other two!
BRIT Awards 2015 was their only compilation which failed to top the compilation chart
Would love Frances or Izzy Bizu to get it as Jack Garratt would be predictable
Frances or Izzy Bizu please for the win, really like both of them
Jack Garratt has been announced as the winner of the Critics' Choice Award.
Oh I really like Izzy, she was Foxes support act last month and really enjoyed her set!
Adele to sweep best album and all that pls.
Adele has been confirmed as the first artist to perform at The BRITs. Here's hoping for another iconic spectacle.
Coldplay and Justin Bieber have also been added to the bill over night
Pretty good line-up so far!
Years and Years performing please
Hoping Little Mix could perform Secret Love Song
For those of you that can afford want to go, general tickets go on sale on Friday 15th Jan.
'The BRITS are Coming' launch party (along with the nominations) is this Thursday night on ITV2 at 10.30, hosted by Laura Whitmore. I should think Years & Years and Jess Glynne will be nominated for quite a bit, likewise Little Mix should be up for Best Single with 'Black Magic'.
I think Black Magic could be up for Best Video. But I am not an expert.
Best video is normally based on the amount of views so with 130m, I think it has a good chance!
Is best video not voted for on twitter though? so 1D will win
Also, what random award will be made up for One Direction this year?
I wouldn't be surprised if David Bowie is nominated and possibly wins best male and best album, now. He managed to get a nomination for his last album didn't he?
He was nominated for Album of the Year and he won Best British Male. That was the year after 'The Next Day' was released though so I'm not sure what will happen for this year.
No doubt there will be a special feature on him this year though.
Bowie tribute confirmed.
Who do we think is going to sweep the nominations tomorrow ?
Think Adele will be nominated for a few , along with Florence , years and years , Jamie Lawson !! Really hope Leanne la havas gets some recognition too !!
Adele will presumably sweep the floor, and Jess Glynne will do well too.
Think Jess will get a few but don't think she will win on the night !!
Justin and Taylor for International Artists
Adele will win nearly everything she is eligible for.
Jess Glynne will win Best Newcomer.
Justin Bieber will win Best International Male.
James Bay will win Best Male.
An award will be made up and One Direction will win it.
Florence will win something.
Not sure on International Female as there haven't been any major releases in the past year from those unless I forgot someone?
Surely Adele will win the global success award this year.

Oh oops, I didn't realise. I thought it was an interesting, but rational, choice!

hope Lana wins best international female, the album is kinda dead so could do with some promo like winning this

Amy Winehouse for British Female, are they being serious?
Oops at the Little Mix snub for Group, I think they might have got in there instead of One Direction if it hadn't been their last year.
I don't know how Video is being decided this year but Runnin HAS HAS HAS to win, the others really cannot compare to it.
Nominations for British Video will be open to voting from tonight during the Launch Show.
Omg Flashlight being a BRIT award nominated track *.* *.*
Shame Little Mix aren't in Best Group and really nice but shocking to see Amy Winehouse there
I'm shocked Little Mix were snubbed for British Group :/
I mean they've sold more than almost everyone in that category! I hope Years & Years win.
One Direction over Little Mix is so frustrating. 2015 was huge for them, they really should've got a nom beyond the automatic qualifiers for best single and video.
Yeah the snubbage for Little Mix in the groups is ridic but was to be expected. Apparently you have yo be male to be in the best group category!
Has Amy Winehouse released anything this year?! Like ... are they for real? I don't get it. They could have had Ellie Goulding nominated in her place.
Quite a solid set of nominations! Very nice to see acts like Aphex Twin, Courtney Barnett, Foals & Tame Impala get a look in. Amy Winehouse's nom is...questionable, even posthumously, there was nothing released outside of the film soundtrack. Strange that Years & Years aren't up for breakthrough yet James Bay is as well.
International Female & Group looks the most interesting to me, can't call who will win out of either! (If Meghan Trainor wins the former, I will silently die. Also I had no idea Major Lazer were a group lol).
I'm not too surprised at the snubbage for Little Mix, they're not really the sort of act the Brits traditionally go for, they're the sort of act that would need to prove themselves a lot to be up for that.
There was only the soundtrack to the film: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amy_(soundtrack).
I think it's a ridiculous nomination and quite insulting to other females who have released stuff over the past year.
I feel like Laura Marling must be very well connected or something ! This is her fourth nomination for British Female since 2011 (having won that year).
Interestingly, Florence (with 'Ceremonials') and Coldplay (with 'Mylo Xyloto') lost out to Adele in Album of the Year back in 2012, and it's almost certain that history will repeat itself. Florence should really get off her release schedule if she knows what's good for her!
if there was a shortage of female singers, I would understand but that's not the case, Ellie Goulding should have taken the place
the female international is the most interesting one, hope Lana or Bjork get it
I can't predict who will win until i know the voting process for each category. Obviously social media friendly/younger acts like 1d and Little Mix benefit from fan voting categories...
I'm assuming album of the year is decided by a panel. That's surely the most obvious category with Adele walking it. Jamie XX got critical acclaim but I just can't see him beating Adele. I think album of the year and best female for Adele are in the bag for her and her name currently being engraved on the trophy.
Always makes me chuckle when I see BRIT nominations and only 10 categories when you look at the GRAMMYs and it's like hundreds.
These nominations are quite embarrassing and very laughable.
Olly Murs snubbed for Best British Male once again
The nominations are such shambles.... I think Amy Winehouse being up for best female is utterly ridiculous, I mean yes there is a bit of a shortage but Marina, Ellie and Ella Eyre for example are all right there - I'm especially baffled at Ellie not being nominated. British music hasn't been the absolute best this year but they're really scraping with some of these, I've literally never even remotely heard of Father John Mistry.
Of course Adele will win best female and best album, apart from that (which are deserved within her categories) I'm pleased to see Courtney Barnett nominated. I honestly hope Black Magic (or Hello/King) has a chance at best single, best video will be 1D I imagine, again.
The 'International Male' category always has to provide that WHO?! moment with one of their nominees. Absolutely no idea who Father John Misty is either
Eagles of Death Metal probably have International Band wrapped up. Always amuses me when people say that certain acts should be nominated over others caused they've sold more, since when has it been the best selling acts, in that cause Bob the Builder would have won Best British Male in 2000!
Father John Misty's (used to be in Fleet Foxes to give a bit more background~) album got a ton of acclaim so him getting a spot is understandable imo. Unlike the Amy Winehouse & U2 nominations- wtf?
Yeah Father John Misty had a pretty big year, his album was released to pretty much universal acclaim.
Major Lazer for international group plz 🙌🏼
Even without my Stan boots on, Little Mix not being nominated for best group comes across as very snobby and slightly sexist. I know the sexist card is used very often, but they outsold all but one in that category on singles AND albums. They had much better performances (I know that's subjective, but come on) and their album was more well received critically than One Direction, Coldplay or Years & Years (don't get me wrong, I LOVE Y&Y and want them to win). They were the second highest selling group of 2015 in the UK and there's no reason they should have not been nominated.
I'm really pleased Lana Del Rey and Years & Years got nominations.
What's Ariana getting nominated? Her last album or Focus?
Amy Winehouse has been dead for almost five years. Her getting a nomination purely because of her documentary film is basically a giant middle finger in the faces of Ella Eyre and Ellie Goulding
The Brit nominations as ludicrous and irrelevant as ever. Fully understand, appreciate & support nominations not being based on sales/popularity but some of these are ridiculously obscure.
Shame Ella Eyre didn't get any nominations but she did well at the MOBOs at least.
Wish You Were Mine getting a nom Although don't like how 5 songs are nominated for both single & video. Like they just made the first list then got bored and couldn't be bothered to think of any more for the second.
The Best Single noms are based on the highest selling singles and Best Video on highest views so there's obviously going to be overlap.
I'd be pleased for 9 of the 10 Best Single Nominees to win (but I'm hoping King wins). Pleasantly surprised Wish You Were Mine was nominated.
Courtney Barnett <3 And Wolf Alice! Not that they're going to win but PLEASE.
Anyone but One Direction to win British Group. Alabama Shakes seem to be in it all the time just like Laura Marling, interesting. I guess the only complaint I have is that CHVRCHES deserved a nomination somewhere but I can understand them not being there. It looks like a good lot on the whole.
The Weeknd to win Best International PLEASE
BRITs won me for giving Amy nomination over Ellie, but lost me at One Direction over Little Mix. Scandalous.
Personally I think both 1D & Little Mix should have been nominated. Foals could take the cut.
Personally I think Everything Everything should have been the sole nomination, all other groups last year were irrelevant in comparison *.*
Taylor Swift to win best international female. Oh...
Great that Adele has swept the board not a surprise she should pick up best female and album easily !
Amy wine house ? Odd choice really , she only had the one OST can't remember it doing that well, Ellie Goulding or Leanne la Havas I would of chosen there.
Little mix , shame they weren't nominated for best group , but they may steal best single !
All in all , some really boring choices! Yawn at Jess glynne: overrated !
British video voting is now live and is a Twitter vote again.
Yep, absolutely bizarre that Amy is up for British Female - I'm pretty sure this is the second posthumous nomination for this award having been nominated back in 2012/13.
As usual, there's a great chunk of obvious choices and of random choices, but there's some good acts in the Best Breakthrough (even if Jess will easily get that) and, even though I don't listen to his music really, nice to see Jamie xx get in there twice (I recall his album being very critically acclaimed).
Lol at the continued love for Laura Marling and Bjork!
Surely Adele will win best album, female and single. I'm not sure she'll win Best Video though - they have to give One Direction something after all.
No global success award this year?
YAY FOR LANA AND YEARS AND YEARS
Let's face it, there is something seriously wrong with the world if we get to the point where we allow Meghan Trainor to get a nomination for best international female but not Carly Rae Jepsen. We have all big time screwed up as a human race.
*edit - not only that, but Ariana barely even released anything in 2015 so what is she doing there?
Adele will win 3 as they will give 1D an auto-award to appease Cowell as.always.
16 shocking snubs according to Digital Spy: http://www.digitalspy.com/music/feature/a780099/brit-awards-2016-the-16-most-shocking-snubs-at-this-years-show/
Maybe I'm biased here but I do agree Madonna should have been up for Best International Female. The majority of critics agree that her album is the best in a decade and her tour has also been highly praised which I think puts her in a better position than some others in that category. Carly Rae Jepsen too - again, her album has been praised to the highest high and she's proven herself capable of being so much more than a bubblegum pop one-hit-wonder; that's surely what the BRITs should be about: celebrating acts who manage to develop and grow.
Not so fussed on the snubs for Muse and Mumford & Sons - both acts have been nominated many a time before and it's fair to say their latest outputs don't quite compare to ones before. You could stick Disclosure in that group too.
I agree about both Liam. I think Madonna's album and tour sold enough to consider her a success. And she's as iconic as ever. She had more people talking about the Brits than ever last year. Carly Rae had probably the most critically acclaimed album of the last few years, too.
I find it amusing (in a good way, based on quality obviously) how global pop star Ellie Goulding was blocked from nomination from half-decade dead with no recent material Amy Winehouse.
Such a let-down that UK rap and grime has been ignored again, especially after the massive year of success we had!
Skepta or Stormzy could have nominated for Best Male, Know Me From or Queens Speech 4 nominated for Best Video and any one of Shutdown, Man Don't Care, Shut Up or Freak Of The Week nominated for Best Single. Kendrick Lamar got a nomination in the International category so why can't we recognise our own talent?
The list of nominations is, as ever, very beige and barely represents our musical culture right now.
Because Best Single & Best Video are based on highest sellers/videos, they're automatic nominations.
Oh right.
Can't deny the International nominations make ours look... beige in comparison!
Stormzy has expressed his disappointment that grime hasn't been supported by the BRITs: http://www.digitalspy.com/music/brit-awards/news/a780949/stormzy-isnt-happy-with-the-brit-awards-for-snubbing-grime-music/
I agree that it's been a good year for grime/hip-hop but it's hard when they only have one standout song per artist and the Best Single nominations are decided on sales. I'd say someone like Fetty Wap would be deserving of a Best International Male nomination though given the cross-over appeal of 'Trap Queen' and '679' and his features on other songs.
Calvin Harris is out of the running for Best British Video and therefore wins the prize for least amount of dedicated fans.

Disc three in being best disc shocker!!
Why are so many old performances included?
Disc 3 is the superior disc though.
Rihanna is performing
Ooh. Yay! Looking forward to seeing performances of 'Work'!
Bjork getting a nom year after year when it is clear she isn't going to win is just pointless, why bother including her.
Rihanna? Oh ffs, nobody wants a performance of that shitfest of a song
Work is awesome, such a laid back fun song but with actually pretty deep lyrics.
I can't wait for Work
Both Ellie Goulding and Sam Smith are out of the running for British Video.
Rihanna & Justin Bieber are by far the two artists I'm looking forward to most. The rest are entirely bland, unexciting picks.
I think the Brits will be horrific this year. Could be a year to not tune in just like that Emile Sande year...
I think it looks like a pretty decent line-up of performers and Ant & Dec hosting means it should be very watchable too.
The line up is much more interesting for me this year.
Adele is performing for the second time. Little Mix, Justin and Rihanna will bring big performances. Kanye, Taylor and Madonna were the only ones I were looking forward to last year and one of them got dragged off the stage and the other had their whole song censored.
I think it's a great line-up as they've mainly been the biggest artists of the last year. Then Rihanna is of course one of the biggest music artists of the last decade.
Maybe it would have been nice to see a couple of smaller acts to perform to help boost their profile but it depends on how you view the awards.
It is certainly the best line up for a long time. The Brits usually get 1 or 2 absolute A-listers, this year they have 4 in Adele, Rihanna, Coldplay and Justin, plus a good supporting cast to go with it.
I guess the reason I'm the weirdo here is because as much as these are A listers, I don't actually like any of them.
I'm so excited this year. The performers are really well thought out! Obviously I'm excited mostly for Little Mix to hopefully show people who wouldn't usually take notice of them, that they are more than "just a group who came from X Factor" and hopefully branch out to a wider audience a bit. For me I find it a much bigger deal, because I feel like they've worked their way to this moment and worked so hard and valiantly for it. Whereas in the past, it's felt like most mainstream acts & artists have been given the slot by default?
But on the whole, they've got the performers spot on for me. I still think it's a waste that whoever wins the "Critics Choice" award doesn't get to perform, as I truly believe just one performance on the show could really help their career!
people saying it's a shit lineup, it's probably the best lineup in a long time ~
Isn't winning the Critics's choice a boost in their career anyway? I've never liked that award.
I wonder what Justin will perform? Probably that horrific Love Yourself but I'm hoping for something different
I'll Show You is just screaming to be a single so I hope it's that or at least something different from the album.
Naughty Boy is the next casualty in the British Video vote
Voting for British Breakthrough will open online on Monday 15th at 7am.
Ideally, Naughty Boy should've been top 2 at LEAST with the 'Runnin'' video. But in a fan voted award against the likes of 1D, Little Mix, Ed, Adele & even Jessie, he was never gonna get to the final round
I cannot wait for Rihanna's & Little Mix's performance.
Jessie to go out next for sure in British Video.
Voting for British Breakthrough Act is now live until Friday evening.
As the award is championed by Radio 1, each of the acts will be appearing on Clara Amfo's show (10am - 1pm) this week: Catfish And The Bottlemen (Mon), James Bay (Tue), Jess Glynne (Wed), Wolf Alice (Thur), Years & Years (Fri).
I wonder if Rihanna will perform seeing as though she pulled out of the Grammys?
Years & Years out of British Artist Video.
Voting will re-open on night of the show with different hashtags
That's such a shame, King was easily the best video remaining. I can't comment on Jessie J's as I've not seen it but Adele's and One Directions are nice but pretty uneventful. Little Mix's is good because at least it has a strong concept and the same goes for Ed's. But we all know that this is actually the Brit Award for most dedicated fans.
So annoying, Drag Me Down is going to win when its video is terrible.
King was the second best video of 2015, behind Black Magic, so I'm rooting for that.
Jessie J has dedicated fans????? *.*
I still can't believe Runnin left so soon. One of the best videos of recent years.
Haven't Ant & Dec only presented last year and this year? Why would it be emotional for them to stop?
Too bad they don't buy her albums then...
It's good her fans don't buy her albums!
Oops. I've just seen the Brits ad on ITV and Rihanna's been removed from the performers. She was in the ad only yesterday
Can't take the BRITs seriously this year after the complete snub of our black talent. Genre and racial representation are a big issue, its a joke that none of Skepta, Stormzy, Krept & Konan etc. have been nominated.
I realise it's all down to sales and views but the BRITs hardly represent our culture in 2016.
Why would they get nominated? Bar one hit each, what else have they achieved in the last year? I can't help but feel this whole charade against the Brits for not including Grime artists is just a poor attempt at trying to recreate the whole Oscars so black drama... None of the black British artists have done anything of note this year and not really "stood out", critically or commercially.
EDIT: And only 2 awards are based on either sales or views (British Single/Best Video).
Not critically acclaimed?? The Guardian chose 'Shutdown' as their song of the year. Krept & Konan got a No. 2 album and a hugely popular Top 10 single - surely that could translate to a Best Newcomer nomination? As for Stormzy, getting a grime freestyle into the Christmas Top 10 is a huge achievement.
Can't shake the feeling the nominations are chosen by suits in the boardroom rather than reflecting the people. Yes, the charts are there for that but not everybody has an iTunes or Spotify account!
http://m.noisey.vice.com/en_uk/blog/the-brit-awards-have-admitted-they-need-to-improve-diversity
Shutdown didn't sell enough, and best single is based entirely on that. None of these artists have made much of a mark other than one hit each at most. Maybe in the future, but there really wasn't enough to warrant nominations this time around, unfortunately. If Grime grows more though, who knows what could happen next year.
The real issue is BritsSoMale. A female group has never been respected by Brits enough to win 'Best British Group' in the history of the Brit awards and Little Mix excelled in every area this era, yet still weren't recognised, which is very snobby. It's a shame that they only got nominated for the default awards.
I actually agree that the BRITs need to be more diverse and it will be a start for them to not just look at the big pop names in the charts. It's not like the Oscars where actors were snubbed because they were just not good enough, it's a case of certain music not being the most commercial sounding which leads to them not being as successful chart-wise and therefore not nominated, opposed to them not being good enough. For instance, if a hip-hop artist wanted to be nominated, they would have to have more pop hooks and probably a featured female artist for their song to be big, which isn't necessarily the same as being better.
It would also help if the singles/video categories were not based on sales/views for the point I've already raised: it means only the big acts get a look in and it doesn't really reflect what makes a good song or video. I mean, who watches the 'Flashlight' video and think it's one of the best videos of the year?
The BRITs should bring back the Best *insert genre* Act categories so that the less commercial but still critically acclaimed acts can get a look in. I usually dislike this sort of positive discrimination but, like I say, it's because acts are getting ignored because they're not commercial enough to get huge sales rather than they're just not good enough.
I agree with all your points. Especially about the genre awards thing. Why did they scrap them in the first place?
I also don't think the "they need to stop looking at the big pop names" is a valid argument when they have the likes of Catfish & The Bottlemen, Wolf Alice, Aphex Twin, Laura Marling, Father John Misty etc.. all nominated for some of the main awards. None of which are particularly big pop names. In fact K&K and Stormzy are more popular, imo. I just don't see the work they've done as being anything ground breaking or anything particularly worthy of being nominated (I say this as a HUGE fan of 'Freak Of the Week', one of my favourites of last year!) I believe K&K will get a nomination or two one year. But I guess that falls into your point of them being snubbed due to music being more subjective.
But the Brits have been favourable of grime/hip hop artists in the past. Dizzee Rascal being the main name. Getting nominations even before his "real" commercial success and boost in 2008, wasn't he?
There does need to be a return of the genre-specific awards but I guess they just don't have time to fit them in. It's hard for it to cater for all genres currently due there not being much space available. Plus, even with the small amount of nominations available, there will be overlaps between these (e.g. Jess Glynne nominated for Female and Breakthrough).
Grime has had a massive rise in popularity and it is kind of becoming the new House (with a lot of people liking it purely because it is cool to do so) but I don't think there's a specific problem yet due to the limited nominations model. I think one of the problems with grime being recognised more widely is that it is VERY marmite, you either love it or absolutely hate it.
I don't think many of the nominated artists have made groundbreaking music this year, that's a subjective opinion. Although I agree Skepta, Stormzy & Krept & Konan didn't make especially groundbreaking material either, it was more the scale of critical and commercial success. Shutdown even impacted America with a co-sign from Drake and Kanye! This without 'selling out' and making dance-pop songs like Dizzee Rascal from 2008 onwards.
I agree they need more genre specific awards. Totally agree that need to represent artists whose music is limited commercially despite it's quality (not just Grime).
I feel like, beyond a couple of songs, grime is still quite a niche genre that just has a small number of very vocal fans. I don't really think someone like Stormzy is particularly deserving of a nomination for British Male for example over anyone else on the list, especially as he's not even released an album. Shut Up and Freak of the Week are the only two to cross over, the former was through a campaign which I must admit, was very well executed, and the latter was DJ Mustard produced and with a Jeremih feature. I don't think it's anything to do with commercial artists etc. I think someone like Fetty Wap should perhaps have been up for International Male based on his success last year but beyond that, I don't see any notable snubs.
Little Mix are most definitely a big snub from British Group I think, they've had their biggest album so far and it's a shame it's not been reflected in the noms. 1D's album was actually more critically acclaimed than their previous albums that I noticed, it got some very good reviews, so it's a fair nomination especially this year I think (LM's album has outsold it but Made In the A.M. is not miles behind). The noms this year seem pretty fair to me beyond maybe 3 or so fairly big names missing.
I was very surprised to see Little Mix snubbed for Best Group - I'm not a fan but they deserve it based on their success in the past year.
I'm pretty sure a lot of the categories in the BRITS have the criteria of a full length album being released within the calendar year to be up for a nomination anyway, did any of these grime acts mentioned release an album at all in the last year? If they did , they'd still have quite a lot of competition, mainly as has been mentioned that the genre just isn't as commercial or widespread yet, even if it's made strides this year. I hate to talk like Michael Caine for the Oscars, but I do believe if the genre continues to grow and has a much more notable influence on the charts, then they will/or should start to recognise grime more, but as it stands I don't really think that any of the acts mentioned did quite enough to warrant a place over who has already been nominated (Amy Winehouse aside).
Also, Kendrick Lamar's up for International Male, and his genre is of a similar sound, so they don't ignore all black music.
When does it start?
And do people generally talk about it regularly on here at the level of activity that there would be for a chart show or Eurovision?
The show starts at 8pm
I think last years thread was 23 pages (don't remember how many are on the actual night but think like 20!)
Anyone watching the red carpet? Hope the play the Ellie Army Brit sponsors advert a lot on the show tonight, would love for that to get a big boost
EDIT: No clue where I got 23 from!
I'm watching the red carpet! Always love this show (and Laura Whitmore's accent ). Very much hyped for the main show too!
I'm watching on Live stream, it says 15 minutes left till it starts.
I'm watching the Red Carpet too!
Jesy seems to do all the talking for Little Mix nowadays, I don't know if it annoys the others or not.
https://rabb.it/princess_lotti Some of us are watching here
I hope The Weeknd performs "Often" or "In The Night" but they seem unlikely. I don't mind if he performs "The Hills" but I do mind if he performs "Can't Feel My Face". So glad Coldplay are performing "Hymn For The Weekend" but why on earth are Little Mix performing "Black Magic"? They should be performing "Secret Love Song"

Set your location to the USA or France
Someone had better let the Weeknd and Little Mix know what Hadji's thoughts are or else
hope I don't miss anyone good considering I'll be away for the first 15 minutes.
The opening is very Gaga.
Whatever that was, it was shit.
What happened to opening with an actual performance?
some great performers on this lineup, should be a great show!!
why does Chris Martin always look so happy when he's performing
Hymn For The Weekend
This should help Hymn For The Weekend go top 10.
I don't want to drag the debate on or detract from people's enjoyment of the ceremony but I'd recommend a read of the following article.
http://www.theguardian.com/music/2016/feb/24/brits-so-white-why-this-years-nominees-need-to-take-a-stand
Articulated very well.
That was a bit of a pointless opening but Coldplay are great!
haven't listened to this very much since the album came out and completely forgot how great it actually is
Youtube stream blocked for me and I live in the UK Managed to find another - excited for Adele's performance!
Coldplay kicking us off very well. Hopefully this pushes Hymn For The Weekend to a higher peak than Adventure Of A Lifetime.
Hymn for the Weekend is really good but that was a poor performance imo Very weak vocals from Chris Martin sadly!
Global success is still a thing???? What an actual waste of anything.
Hoping Jess Glynne manages to get it, but will likely be Adele.
Adele will boringly win.
Liam
Of course, Adele is the winner!
Oo love Adele's look.
Adele supporting Kesha, yes!
OMG at Adele supporting KESHA!!
godele *_*
That was a really good speech, I have to say.
love the shout out to ke$ha, lovely touch from the ever wonderful adele
That was a shock, thought Laura Marling might have got it!
I'm not surprised. But she definitely deserved it, although I wanted it to be Jess Glynne. I won't ever understand why Amy Winehouse was up though.
G'won Adele An obvious winner but a well deserved one too!
Adele
Justin sounds pretty decent.
Love Yourself is such a bad song. He sounds dreadful in this chorus.
Is it James Bay playing the guitar to Justin?
As soon as I say that. Good staging though.
Coldplay as dull as ever
Yay for Adrle winning and this Bieber performance is pretty good
justin sounds good live but i just feel like there is a real lack of energy/excitement in his performances.
Kylie looks great.
James Bay winning Best Male, meh.
Great to see James Bay win!
Aw I missed Justin
So predictable to see James Bay winning brit Male
Adele starting as she means to go on!
Justin Bieber's staging is pretty good.
Poor Kylie having to enter to that thing
James Bay definitely deserved the award, well done to him!
MOR with a hat winning
Who the hell is Aphex Twin? They couldn't even find a pic of him.
kylie <3
EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW james bay
Justin and James Bay together!!!!! I died and went to heaven.
What a well deserved win for James there too
For believing in me
I can't stand Ellie Goulding at all.
Horrendous performances so far :/ Chris Martin barely sang a note in tune!
Adele though <3 And the Ke$ha mention, this is why I love her, and she's always so grouned and humble.
what an absolute mess of a show so far
Well, this is all a bit lifeless so far, Coldplay felt a bit on autopilot and Justin just looked like he was a bit bored and had been dragged to perform there. Two shocking winners to make up for it tho
its not that bad
International Group goes to Tame Impala!
Good win there!
Tame Impala - 6/10
Major Lazer - 8/10
Eagles oDM - 6/10
Alabama Shakes - 8/10
U2 - 6/10
...for me.
not too fussed about Tame Impala winning though.
Showing my age, I don't know who these are! Are they any good?
Didn't care about this award, just wanted U2 not to win!
wanted Major Lazer to win but Tame Impala is welcome too, a very inspired choice!
Yay Tame Impala are great winners.
Omg Tame Impala actually won! 😱
I was expecting Major Lazer, but Tame Impala are good, so I'm happy.
Who are Tame Impala?
On another note, looking forward to Rihanna's performance, hope she does 'Same Ol' Mistakes'
ewwwwwwwwwwwww
demon demon
horrible horrible
who the f*** is that?!?!
Hyped for Jess Glynne though
OMG was that Jessie J who was half naked???
Yesss, glad she's performing Ain't Got Far To Go, hope it gets an iTunes boost now
Ain't got far to go
Yesss, actually a really good and quite unexpected winner with Tame Impala there (mainly cos I didn't know who was there but still )
(oh my lord at that stage invasion just then!!)
Quite like "Ain't Got Far To Go".
Crazy hair though.
Jess Glynne has been s***
ok she's a bit better now
Don't Be So Hard On Yourself getting performed.
queen jess
Jess Glynne sounds a bit like a sheep sometimes.
Ain't Got Far To Go is sounding really good!
Don't Be So Hard On Yourself What an amazing song, still doesn't feel old.
Hold My Hand is also great, great to hear it!
Jess ;wub: Bit rough at times though!
Now Hold My Hand: it really is a Jess Glynne Greatest Hits special.
Nice medley of her hits!
sometimes jess can sound really awful live but she is nailing it tonight vocally
Jess Glynne, Queen of Music
great performance as always even if as always she can't do the high notes too well.
(omg we're getting 3 songs from her!!!)
Oh and I agree Coldplay were ropey. So is Jess Glynne tbh.
i want her assassinated
Jess Glynne is great but her voice sounds as if she's put her phone on vibrate and shoved it down her throat
Still can't get enough of Hold My Hand tbh
Tame Impala winning? awesome!
Jess Glynne is amazing
I think that's the best I've heard Jess's vocals not on record! Excellent performance
Foxes' Amazing getting played
She should have sang AGFTG only
John Newman getting that immense support tho *.*
Best British Single: HELLO - ADELE
King - 7/10
Black Magic - 5/10
Hello - 2/10
HDIYL - 7/10
HBTR - 6/10
Up - 8/10
Hold My Hand - 8/10
Bloodstream - 9/10
Wish You Were Mine - 10/10
Predictable winner. leave.
The breast British single????
Would have loved black magic or love me like you do to win but hello is incredible as well, such an epic track
Adele's gonna run out of things to say by the end of the night.
Hmm, as much as I love Adele, wish Y&Y would've won
I wanted it to be King so badly
Hello is a great song though, so no complaints there.
adele slaying~
god she is irritating
Sad for Years & Years, they deserved a Brit especially for "King"
I would so love Adele to win Best British Video too, but 1D are locking that down (again, sadly).
I don't think Hello was the best of that bunch. I'd have ranked it about 5th personally. Predictable win there.
I love Dan and Phil
Yes Adele! Should be three awards for her tonight - there's no way I can see her winning the British Video one.
awkward
omg @ no-one laughing at this Ant & Dec toilet joke.
Ant & Dec's jokes are a bit flat today
Best British Group: Coldplay
Y&Y - 10/10
Foals - 10/10
Blur - 8/10
1D - 3/10
Coldplay - 9/10
Glad to see Coldplay win it though.
That speech
Ant & Dec are absolutely embarrassing, moreso than usual. I honestly do not understand how they're considered funny :/
Y&Y robbed 😕
Ew at dullplay winning and can that dreadful lead singer stop talking ugh
Little Mix should have been nominated and won
Yes! Coldplay are great winners. Still nothing for Y&Y though grr.
ffs dullplay ~ years & years were robbed
Why the f*** doesn't anyone know where to look?
Yeh, the Ant & Dec bits are a bit rubbish this year.
I'm happy with that. Although it does mean that at least one of Years & Years and Jess Glynne won't win an award.
Hold Back The River will get another push up the charts after this.
Would've preferred Years & Years but Coldplay are decent winners too.
That acceptance speech
The Years & Years shade, though
Poor Years & Years
MOR with a hat
Hold Back the River
Well, I'd have been just as happy with Years & Years but slay Coldplay etc.
oh dear at calling them 'the other one', ultimate shade :')
Hope The Weeknd wins!
major lazer <3
International Male: Justin Bieber
Well, the UK does adore him now so...
I was hoping The Weeknd might've clinched a surprise win there
i was hoping for a surprise kendrick win but oh well
Well, that was utterly predictable.
Justin Bieber is a deserving winner really, good for him.
What a cringeworthy speech this is.
it had to be ~ what a turn around!
Yay Bieber winning *.* wouldn't have minded any of him, Kendrick or the Weeknd winning!
Justin winning truly deserved, especially after all the records he's broken!
Diplo 🙌🏼
With him performing, there was no doubt Justin would win. Would be good to see one surprise tonight!
Never thought I would think that Bieber deserved an award, but he did and glad he won.
This is a bit of a borefest atm.
consideration yaaassss
Consideration
oo Rihanna doing a mashup
Rihanna sounds so nasal.
OMG SZA IS THERE
THIS IS FAB
Consideration The song choices have been so good this year!
Wish she performed Kiss It Better though, obsessed on that!
BLADDY SZA.
What a boring performance.
"Work" isn't that bad, much better than the 3 standalone singles from last year.
I've never rated Rihanna but this is shit even for her.
awesome <333
drakeDRAKEDRAKE OMG
Why is Drake the best bit on Rihanna's song?
That bump and grind bit though...
Rihanna was great, very good performance !
Edit : until Drake came in and ruined the end of the performance :/
that was perfect tbqh
Drake
Cheryl looks so thin. I hope she's ok.
Are we sure that was Rihanna? Lighting didn't show her face clearly until the end.
Cheryl
rihanna saved the whole show
on another note, could cheryl not be bothered doing her hair so just stuck it in a top bun ?
British Breakthrough Act: Catfish & The Bottlemen
Over Years & Years & Jess Glynne? No.
what a great win for C&TB! Great to see someone like themselves win.
Cheryl stole the night
Rihanna OWNED the stage, what a seriously good performance!!!
{[ @ Catfish & The Bottlemen winning, really wanted Jess Glynne Queen of Music to do it though ]}
CATFISH
Rihanna great as expected 😍 Great to see Consideration performed too
Catfish the biggest shock of the night for me!
Shame Jess Glynne and Years & Years probably won't win anything but pretty much all of those nominees were deserving.
UGH NO NO NO. They are absolutely dreadful, the worst of the five
Was hoping Wolf Alice would win, my favourite breakout act of last year and they are so incredible live
Well, at least it was a surprise, I guess.
Great performance from Rihanna - so glad Drake was there too!
Surprise winner! I thought it was a dead cert to be James Bay winning.
Was NOT expecting that! I thought it'd be Jess or James ;o Woo *.*
That speech was so short!
Mediocre performance from Rihanna at best
Global Success Award: ADELE
Obviously.
Lol Rihanna going to attract all thise OFCOM complaints again.
Yey, a surprise win! I didn't think Catfish would win a public vote!
This award is such a farce.
Another award for Adele, what a shock But once again well deserved
Catfish That was unexpected but excellent to see an actual surprise winner (should've seen it coming with how much Radio 1 spam them )
Yay, the made up award is back.
Adele winning. Fair enough.
Adele finally winning the global success award! 3rd Award tonight as well! Woop!
'you're probably getting fackin bored of me'
Adele let out an F bomb! Love her!
YASSS @ adele blocking 1d from the global success award~
Lol at that mute failing!
Slaydele.
What an amazing speech!
Little Mix now So excited!
Yay at Little Mix performing "Black Magic".
Grr at this Adele obsession.
What's this satanic ritual thing for
Adele's speech. I just love how real she is!
We didn't hear the f**k, it got muted
*waits for Hadji to say they should be performing their latest song*
Love this performance so far! They've really stepped up their performance abilities!
Why not Secret Love Song?
**** **** facking hell ****
Whoever is in charge of the beeps needs to be sacked
The chorus sounds mimed though.
They are good live, I'll give them that. They sound identical to what they sound like on the song.
I wonder if they still think of Tulisa?
Is it just me or the whole chorus is fully mimed? :/
Shame the chorus is mimed.
Wow at this breakdown! Easily the best performance of the night so far.
Absolutely incredible, best performance of the night
(Still wish they did SLS though )
okay
so i take back what i said about rihanna, little mix just showed everyone else how its done
Well, that was one hell of a performance!
it's ridiculous how many times Little Mix have performed Black Magic on these shows though, when they could have done Secret Love Song.
Catfish & The Bottleman wining breakthrough.. wtf
LITTLE MIX THO <3<3 <3 <3 Queens. Absolutely slayed, that is exactly why they deserved best group so it's such a shame they didn't even get nominated. It's a shame 1D will beat them to best video too, Black Magic genuinely is the best video of the lot.
Little Mix always bring it with their performances, that was definitely one for best though! Can you imagine Girls Aloud or e Saturday's ever doing something like that?! Haha.
Jessie J to win Best Brit Vid
Fantastic performance! Really are one of the best performers in the music industry!
That was the first performance of the night that actually kept my attention, mimed it may be but it's amazing how professional they look as performers now (though how dare they have the audacity to not perform their current single).
( at Adele's unashamed swearing then)
God I hate Black Magic, I wish they performed Secret Love Song. It was a pretty good performance from them though.
What a f***ing INCREDIBLE performance from Little Mix!! Well and truly stole the show.
Little Mix to somehow win Best Video please! Or Adele.
Legend Mix
Lana to win this hopefully
Craig David at the Brits!
Fleur East rockin the Jess Glynne weave.
International Female Solo Artist: Bjork!
Super random win but I love her!
Best of a bad bunch tbh
Bjork winning Love her but would have preferred any of the others to win bar Ariana!
Björk!
LOL, Bjork's speech would make a perfect gif.
Go Bjork!
Bjork really
Little Mix...um, the mimed chorus/live verses thing was a tad awkward
Honestly, this has gotta be one of the dullest, most uneventful Brits I've ever watched.
I'm really surprised at that!
Lol Bjork won??????????? I swear I gave her no hope of winning and wondered why she had been nominated! So so so random, but a few have been very random winners tonight.
Bjork seems a bit random but at least they didn't give it to Meghan Trainor.
I love Bjork but how random
I wanted Courtney Barnett to win that one but it was never going to happen.
bjork?! another left-field winner
Well, Meghan Trainor didn't win, that's all that matters (and Bjork is fab anyway <3).
Bjork...what! Was hoping for a Lana win there.
What was Bjork wearing on her head?
laying it on a bit thick~
So much more dignified than that Grammys 'tribute'.
Great tribute.
Interesting tribute.
Does ANN just do mawkish celebrity tributes now? She's like the undertaker of pop. I was disappointed that she didn't come out in her HIV shirt.
Love how Laura Marling is ALWAYS nominated for British female lol.
Bit sad people saying James Bay is MOR with a hat! You could say Calvin Harris for instance is Dance musics version of MOR!
Lorde doing the musical tribute.
I'm glad Lorde still looks not a day over 47.
Oh gosh.....Lorde.....
Lorde 💜💜
Lorde is fantastic. Absolutely amazing.
I hate Lorde, but she's being fantastic here.
great tribute performance from Lorde. And I liked the guy's speech as well. RIP Bowie
Lovely tribute, as much as I despise Lorde.
Lorde smashing it!
Lorde was absolutely incredible, what a tribute
Lorde killed it. That may be the best performance of the night, with Little Mix a close second.
Oh my gosh that was outstanding. Stole the show for me.
That easily stole the show, never would've thought Lorde would be a good choice for that but she did that excellently.
That was so emotional, absolutely no self service, just a straight tribute to an absolute legend.
Fantastic tribute!
Nearly crying at the end too, fair play to her!
That was a great tribute from both Annie and Gary, and Lorde absolutely did Life On Mars? justice.
Unexpected highlight with all the big names here, I hope that gives her a deserved profile boost, she's such a talent and deserves a long career.
That was an excellent tribute, I do think it worked better performing just one song. I was surprised at the choice of Lorde but she was fantastic!
Performance of the night by a country mile!
Fantastic, tasteful tribute, great stuff, well done Lorde!
I really hate Lorde, but that was a great tribute! So much better than the self-indulgent Grammys tribute.
Chaka Khan to get the biggest Brit Awards effect.
Seriously, that Lorde version should go straight to the top 10 now.
Yeh sounded great - Life on Mars really is one of the best songs of all time!
Has Adele performed yet??
Annie Lennox/Gary Oldman/Lorde- people who actually knew/were endorsed by Bowie. Not just some karaoke self indulgent wannabe.
Adele probs going to make it four awards
please anyone but 1D to win this.
who am i kidding, of course they win.
Best British Artist Video Of The Year: One Direction - Drag Me Down
Congrats to One Direction, but did they have to win
Ugh really hating the winners tonight
Little Mix so deserved that, Black Magic is such an incredible video!
Who will win this award next year?
OMG Sinitta
At least next year One Direction won't be able to win anything.
1D
And obviously Drag Me Down was going to win despite the video being terrible.
Did anyone really expect any other outcome for that award tho? :')
*sigh* these viewer voted awards are just so pointless~
YASSSSSS The Hills *.*
The Weeknd still performing "The Hills"...
yay for Tame Impala & Adele, Little Mix and Gary/Lorde have best performances of the night so far... although I did prefer the Nile/Gaga Grammy tribute
YES! The Weeknd's performing The Hills!
Really he should be performing In The Night, but it's good to hear The Hills aswell.
Would have preferred can't feel my face but this is still quite good.
The Weeknd sounding amazing
Why was that muted?
I will eat my hat if Adele doesn't win this.
Best British Album Of The Year: 25 - ADELE
Well, it wasn't going to go to anyone else was it?
Adele definitely deserved that, glad she won
Really hope she does When We Were Young now!
