BuzzJack Music Forum _ Robbie Williams and Take That _ Gary Barlow - Since I Saw You Last

Posted by: jay727 27th August 2013, 07:52 PM

It's happening! Gary is filming the music video to his new single 'Let Me Go' in Manhattan right now.

Word is the album is due early November. Details are all very scarce at the moment, the info has come from people taking part in the video.

Hopefully confirmation will follow shortly, but looks like we are finally going to have a proper follow up to 12 months, 11 days!

Posted by: ThePensmith 27th August 2013, 09:27 PM

Yay! This is exciting smile.gif Can't wait to hear it!

Posted by: pippa 28th August 2013, 11:18 AM

This is nothing but amazing news. I really wanted a another solo album from him. What may slightly worry me is some fans may blame him recording a solo album the sole reason for the delay in receiving a new Take That album.

Now, his solo performance will be very interesting to watch, from a single point of view he probably wont have much success outside the lead single as even Take That dont do as well in the singles chart with follow up singles as they once did. The album will be worth watching and watching its sales closely. I wouldnt say i am certain it would go to number 1, that will greatly depend on the competition he is up against. How the album sells overall and its chart run will be interesting. With a November release a platinum selling album and more is very very possible and a strong lead single would cement that. Either way a top 5 or top 10 peak for the album will greatly improve his solo chart history even further, the performances of shame, sing and the sing album version greatly improved it but another top 10 single and album would make his career look more solid for those reading through it in years to come.

An X Factor solo performance would plug a new single nicely and certainly would do no harm.

I couldn't believe it either when I heard what was happening!
I just hope that he doesn't do what Mark did and release the single and album on the same day rather than the album a week apart.

Think October is the best time to release it, that way avoiding Eminem's new LP whilst also getting a slot maybe week 3 or 4 of the XF live shows.

Word is he will also announce a tour as well! I'd love him to do at least one night at the O2

Posted by: ThePensmith 28th August 2013, 06:47 PM

One of the nice things about Olly Murs not touring until 2015 means I can go to the Captain's tour this year. Bring it on!

Posted by: Aphrodite 28th August 2013, 10:15 PM

delighted with this news and i cant wait to hear it, really looking forward to this and i hope it does well for him.

Posted by: pippa 29th August 2013, 09:09 AM

He kept the news quiet, usually we hear Gary has announced he will release a solo album this year bla bla bla so to just hear its getting released so near is a lovely surprise.

Posted by: pippa 2nd September 2013, 11:43 AM

I find it strange how low key this news is to date, i expect it to increase much more in the near weeks.

Posted by: jay727 2nd September 2013, 05:35 PM

This news isn't supposed to be known..but he's been hinting on an official reveal soon via twitter. Really looking forward to it!!

Why keep it so hush hush though, they need to build up momentum.

Posted by: jay727 4th September 2013, 05:17 PM

Well the album release date being spoken about on social media is the 18 November. Are there any competitors releasing that week? Or the week before? When are 1D releasing?

Posted by: ThePensmith 4th September 2013, 08:16 PM

JLS' greatest hits is out that same day if I'm not mistaken...I think there's something else major out that week too but I can't think what...

Posted by: Aphrodite 4th September 2013, 09:35 PM

jls wont be a big threar i can see them low top 5 at the highest

Posted by: jay727 4th September 2013, 10:16 PM

All depends on getting the release date and promo in line together. Gary has replied on twitter to a question from a fan asking when will we hear any new music, to which he said 'v.soon'

Posted by: pippa 5th September 2013, 08:14 AM

He will need to promote as much as possible, the more high profile the better the chance of greater success. I think a Strictly Come Dancing slot wont be happening though!!

Posted by: jay727 12th September 2013, 11:28 AM

If it is the 18th then it'll be up against Robbie's new album: Swing Both Ways...

The Sun will love that!

Posted by: pippa 13th September 2013, 01:42 PM

I hope that doesnt happen, i really hope they dont go head to head as it will drag up all the rivalry again.

Posted by: ThePensmith 14th September 2013, 12:28 PM

History however has taught us that it probably will. 'Any press is good press' etc. I'll be getting both anyway smile.gif Also...I wonder given the proximity in time whether or not 'Let Me Go' will be the Children in Need single?

Posted by: jay727 16th September 2013, 07:02 PM

Looks like Gary will make an announcement this week...

Posted by: ThePensmith 17th September 2013, 04:10 PM

Release date confirmed by the man himself on Twitter this afternoon:

Posted by: jay727 17th September 2013, 04:19 PM

It is actually quite a touching message. He clearly wants to right the wrongs of his solo career, and now has the opportunity to do it

Posted by: jay727 17th September 2013, 05:24 PM

Same day as 1D release though...

I was about to say. I think everyone knew he wasn't entirely happy with the way his solo career went first time round what with Clive Davis forcing him to do covers and the like. I'm confident he'll have an album that really is completely him this time.

As for 1D...he'll beat them by a country mile smile.gif

Posted by: jay727 20th September 2013, 07:01 AM

Can we make this topic the main one Pete? The other one has the wrong single title on it and is full of nonsense

Posted by: jay727 22nd September 2013, 05:48 PM

We'll be able to hear the new single in the next 2 weeks apparently.

Posted by: jay727 24th September 2013, 07:04 AM

His album will reportedly feature a duet with Elton!!

http://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/gary-barlow-duets-elton-john-2296411

Posted by: pippa 24th September 2013, 08:25 AM

That will stir up the old "next Elton John" tag that was thrown at Gary years ago.

Posted by: jay727 24th September 2013, 09:54 AM

They might draw a link but apart from playing the piano and writing great songs, they don't live mirrored lives or such.
I think the next George Michael label was the one he wanted to get away from in the end.

I'm looking forward to hearing it, could be a possible single. It'll be the second time he has sing on record with Elton (He sung the backing vocals to Can you feel the love tonight)

Posted by: Aphrodite 25th September 2013, 01:02 AM

i never knew gary did backing vocals for can feel the love tonight.

I don't think so. There's usually more advanced notice of a cin single. Besides I think even Gary is aware that he's going to be accused of only managing a hit single if its for charity.

Posted by: jay727 25th September 2013, 01:30 PM

There's an announcement on Radio 2 tomorrow at 8.15
Probably be the confirmation of the single name and the album title.
We might find out tomorrow Kath. He said he's got plans for CIN this year so who knows.

Posted by: ThePensmith 26th September 2013, 07:44 AM

I have just posted said plans on another topic smile.gif

Posted by: ThePensmith 26th September 2013, 02:52 PM

I have just heard 'Let Me Go' due to an accidental early leak from Polydor on Vimeo. They've hidden it now but I can say you're in for a treat. Sounds a bit like Wings and Mumford and Sons with a banjo thrown in for good measure. It's brilliant!

Posted by: jay727 26th September 2013, 06:20 PM

It's really catchy!! Really can hear that Mumford influence! Totally different to his other solo records

Posted by: jay727 28th September 2013, 09:16 PM

Gary is revealing the album title and artwork on Friday! Have a look on Gary's website for info

Posted by: jay727 29th September 2013, 05:34 PM

He's also on Radio 2 on Friday so expect more announcements!

Posted by: pippa 30th September 2013, 11:00 AM

I am starting to feel this will be a good era for Gary. Not sure about Number 1 but he will achieve platinum sales at a worse case result. It is likely outside the lead single he wont really have another hit single but that appears standard with many artists these days. If he promotes well and plugs the albus left right and centre he will without doubt make yet more improvements to his solo chart record.

Posted by: jay727 30th September 2013, 12:45 PM

Hope so!
The album cover is being revealed day by day at 10am. Looks like we are getting his album name a word a day as well.
The first word of the album title is 'Since'
Any ideas what the rest of it could be? Maybe Since You Asked?

According to those who have heard the Elton duet (being played on Radio 2 by Chris Evans this Friday btw, with Gary in the studio) it's a massive track, so perhaps single No.2 and another hit, after Let Me Go?

Gary Barlow has announced details for his upcoming new album.

Since I Saw You Last will serve as the Take That singer's first full studio album since 1999's Twelve Months, Eleven Days, and will be released on November 25.

'Let Me Go' will be the first single lifted from the album, to be released the week before on November 17 through Polydor Records.

The single is described as an acoustic guitar-driven song with a catchy chorus. The video was directed by his 'Sing' collaborator Ben Winston in New York City.

Sir Elton John will feature on the track 'Face To Face' on the LP, which was recorded at his own Future Studios and producer Steve Power's TOP Studios, with string arrangements recorded at Abbey Road Studios.

Gary Barlow will support the album with a UK tour taking place in April 2014.

The tracklisting is as follows:

1. Requiem
2. Let Me Go
3. Jump
4. Face To Face (with Elton John)
5. God
6. Small Town Girls
7. 6th Avenue
8. We Like To Love
9. Since I Saw you Last
10. This House
11. Dying Inside
12. More Than Life
13. Mr Everything
14. Actress
15. The Song I'll Never Write

Posted by: ThePensmith 4th October 2013, 07:24 AM

Here's the album cover! He's just announced a 2014 tour for next April as well smile.gif

Fantastic news!! He's playing the O2!

Preorder his album via Universal to get access to presale

Posted by: ThePensmith 4th October 2013, 08:51 AM

Requiem is apparently the song he wrote with Rob for this album he said on Chris Evans this morning. And 'Let Me Go' is according to him his song about those moments with Dawn where he thinks 'Why am I married to you? Why are we still together?'

He said he wondered why she put up with him, said she was too good for him, rather than wondering why he was married to her, I think. There's also a writing collaboration between Gary and Robbie called Wedding Bells, on Robbie's swing album.

Single artwork:

Posted by: jay727 4th October 2013, 09:40 AM

And he also filmed a video for the song with Elton, so could potentially be the 2nd single

Posted by: ThePensmith 4th October 2013, 10:24 AM

He confirmed that it'll be the 2nd single on Chris Evans. I imagine that'll get a January or February release a la 'Up All Night'/'Kidz'...

Posted by: jay727 4th October 2013, 10:38 AM

I loved how they played Open Road this morning as well! It sounds even better with age

Posted by: ThePensmith 4th October 2013, 10:40 AM

I agree! That's been my favourite since the tour last year...speaking of which do you reckon they'll announce more dates? I've pre-ordered for the pre-sale but I'm unsure whether or not to go for the only O2 date yet.

Posted by: jay727 4th October 2013, 11:18 AM

I'd be surprised if he didn't add more dates. He's probably holding some back like TT do

Posted by: ThePensmith 4th October 2013, 01:01 PM

You see that's what I'm thinking...but then again how quickly did last year's tour sell out? I can't remember if they all went in minutes or not?

Posted by: jay727 4th October 2013, 01:23 PM

It sold out in minutes. Apparently they could of sold all of the dates out 6 times over

Posted by: ThePensmith 4th October 2013, 02:14 PM

Posted by: Aphrodite 4th October 2013, 03:42 PM

Everything is looking well for this album to do well, i can see it selling quiet well and achieve a top 5 position at worst. If the Elton duet is second single Gary stands a chance f having 2 hit singles of this album which would be great. I know i always rabbit on about this, but i really think Lie to me should be added as a bonus or hidden track, i think its a song that many many more people need to know about as i regard it among the best songs he has ever recorded including Take That material.

Yeah I wish more people had exposure to it, but it was great hearing Open Road getting a dusting off this morning; I wonder if it picked up a handful of sales on the back of that play.

Silly question, but have you heard it yet? Response seems to be very positive!

Big piece on Gary in the Evening Standard tonight so if anyone has the chance to pick up a copy defo go do it!

Here's the video, complete with pigeons and a groovy tramp!

Also no sound on it yet (an error but I assume it'll be fixed) but when you Shazam the single it takes you to this little video behind the scenes on the album photoshoot:

radio 2 will easily pick this up,,i dont see any reason why this wont gi top 10 at the least.

Posted by: pippa 9th October 2013, 08:02 AM

It is very different to what i expected but good different, i sense success and lots of it for this solo era.

Posted by: jay727 9th October 2013, 08:28 AM

I think it's definitely up there with the best of his solo material!
Can't wait to hear Face to Face

Posted by: pippa 9th October 2013, 11:23 AM

It is starting to seem we will get a cracking solo album. I have loved both his solo albums so far so this should make it 3 in a row. I have such a fondness though for 12 months 11 days i really found it a very solid enjoyable album, and i find it sometimes disheartening when Gary doesnt stand by it too much.

Posted by: jay727 9th October 2013, 04:57 PM

Yeah, I think he does rate some of it however. I mean he played Lie To Me on his tour, and he did Wondering at GB40...Id like if he did Before You Turn Away and All That I've Given Away on this tour but I doubt either will feature unless he goes a medley of albums

I got tickets today to see him at the O2 so really looking forward to April!

Posted by: Cat62 9th October 2013, 08:30 PM

My personal view of Let Me Go is that it's an OK song, not bad but not great either, but it's very catchy and radio friendly, easy to sing a long to, so I'm sure it's going to do very well. But the video is so cheesy! laugh.gif

Posted by: Aphrodite 10th October 2013, 01:43 AM

the video has a very jason donovan late eighties feel to it.

Posted by: pippa 10th October 2013, 08:32 AM

Lie to Me getting played on the tour at the least shows he still likes that song which is good, but i think he likes to forget about the album too. In a way it is understandable as at that point he was at a career low in every single aspect and maybe today 12 months 11 days material reminds him of that. That said, i still say that album holds quiet a few excellent tracks that Gary should be more than proud of.

Posted by: jay727 10th October 2013, 10:50 AM

Yeah that's why he said that he had to go back and make a new solo album to try and right the wrongs of the previous experience. His whole solo career was tarnished by too many people trying to force him down different sounds and directions. But in TT both times he calls the shots on what he/they wants to write, without management getting involved in the process.

He said he wants to feel good about going solo and hopes this record will allow him to feel that way

Posted by: pippa 10th October 2013, 02:21 PM

He openly says Take That is his main job, once he keeps that in his head and sticks to it there should be no problems. If he starts to think he is bigger than Take That it could go belly up again.

Posted by: jay727 10th October 2013, 06:14 PM

He will

He's said it's TT, GB solo, XF in that order

Will Howard bight the bullet this time and push himself, an official solo single release or feature would be lovely. I can never see Jason making a solo attempt in music. I am sure the boys will support Garys solo album, they supported Mark so i cant see why they wont here.

I just don't know why he said in interviews in intervening time (and there are many) that he'd never try solo again - one of them may even have been the 'Q' magazine interview (anyway - he definitely said it). I think he has a hell of a lot to thank Simon Cowell for with the X-Factor gig as I doubt he'd have the 3 million twitter followers that he has now (even despite Take That's phenomenal return) without the exposure the show gives him.

I do think Gary Barlow's story would make a fabulous TV drama in its own right (the ups, the downs, the ups) but I can't help get the feeling that as much as he says he puts TT first (and I've no doubt he does) he gets some satisfaction knowing that despite all the 'joint writing' claims - to the casual observer - Gary is the 'talented' one and the other three (or four whenever Robbie's not doing anything else) are just there for decoration.

Posted by: jay727 11th October 2013, 09:48 AM

The O2 date sold out in 5 minutes apparently!
He's added a second O2 date

Posted by: pippa 11th October 2013, 11:53 AM

No surprise about the gig, i knew it would sell well which is a great start to this solo era of Garys career.

I would in part have to agree with you Kath, X Factor has done a lot for Gary and has provided him with huge exposure which would aid his huge twitter following, it also provided Gary with an opportunity to be seen as Gary Barlow and not Gary from Take That.

I totally agree Gary's story would make a fabulous tv drama as in many ways both good and bad he has a remarkable career and i am sure he still has many untold stories to be revealed. I am sure like any of us would he does like that acclaim that falls to him on writing credits regardless of how high or low the input is and there is probably a sense that has fueled this solo project. I believe that Gary may see it from a point of view that he is seen as great songwriter and also seen as part of a massively successful boyband yet as a solo artist none of this acclaim falls to his name and i would believe he wants that perception to be changed. I believe Gary wants to be remembered as successful Gary Barlow and successful member of Take That rather than just been the guy in successful band who writes all the songs.

Posted by: jay727 11th October 2013, 01:46 PM

Absolutely hit the nail on the head Pippa, very good points

Posted by: pippa 14th October 2013, 08:07 AM

It is confirmed Gary is leaving X Factor this year so i believe its a drive to solo promotion in early 2013 with work commencing on Take That also. I personally believe a new Take That album will be on its way this time next year and by then Gary will have achieved a platinum selling top 5 album and 2 top 40 singles.

Posted by: jay727 14th October 2013, 10:53 AM

If he could get a top 5 with Let Me Go and maybe a top 20 with the Elton duet then that'll be great - a top 2 album would be even better!

Do we know who he's competing against the week of the single release yet?

I'm glad that it is getting a single release. Strange though that their duet isn't being released in the UK or Germany

Posted by: kira lee 17th October 2013, 06:49 PM

can't wait for the new album!! XXX laugh.gif

Posted by: jay727 17th October 2013, 09:50 PM

Gary's been 'A' playlisted on radio 2

Posted by: pippa 18th October 2013, 08:33 AM

Great that it is A listed, as i said in an earlier post, this campaign is off to a strong start.

Posted by: jay727 18th October 2013, 05:06 PM

So we have a schedule of potential promo yet?

Posted by: Aphrodite 20th October 2013, 09:17 PM

I have seen nothing yet so all going well he has loads lined up.

Posted by: pippa 24th October 2013, 12:56 PM

I notice there is no special edition or deluxe its a straight forward release which makes me think i re-release may also come early next year.

Posted by: jay727 25th October 2013, 02:32 PM

There's a standard 12 track edition and a deluxe 15 track edition

Posted by: Aphrodite 26th October 2013, 10:02 AM

i will definitely be buying the deluxe version.

Posted by: jay727 26th October 2013, 09:35 PM

Same! I got the deluxe version preordered

Posted by: jay727 29th October 2013, 07:56 AM

Apparently Elton will perform on the final of the XF! So hopefully that means they'll do Face to Face

Posted by: Aphrodite 29th October 2013, 10:54 AM

it would be great if that happens...also even better if gary gets his own solo slot as well.

Posted by: jay727 29th October 2013, 12:51 PM

I think Gary's 99.9% confirmed to appear to sing Let Me Go.
I mean if they let Cheryl and Tulisa perform then I'm sure they'll find space to have the first solo material performance in 14 years from the frontman of the UK's biggest manband!

Posted by: Aphrodite 29th October 2013, 10:09 PM

yes i would think the same but i wont get my hopes up until its confirmed.

Posted by: jay727 29th October 2013, 11:03 PM

Looks like it's just been confirmed. Gary and Miley Cyrus on 17 November

Posted by: Aphrodite 29th October 2013, 11:56 PM

Great news and something to look forward to.

Posted by: pippa 30th October 2013, 10:09 AM

Wonderful brilliant news, i am looking forward to seeing Gary take that X Factor stage for a solo number. All in all which i have said before i have a really good feeling about this era in terms of success.

I absolutely love the song Since I Saw You Last. The lyrics are absolutely amazing.
Dying Inside is the song about Poppy's death. Very emotional, sounds as if he's fighting back tears just singing it.

Face to Face with Elton is fantastic! It is so so good, great second single and can't wait for the XF performance of it now

Posted by: Aphrodite 9th November 2013, 06:23 PM

Thank you for the preview link, i shall listen later.

Posted by: jay727 10th November 2013, 02:32 PM

Looks like Gary will be challenging Lily Allen, Animals and Eminem for number 1 next week. I hope this does well for him

Posted by: Aphrodite 10th November 2013, 10:35 PM

A number 1 single of album would be great but i dont see it happening, i think let me go and since i saw you last will sell in decent quantites though and hang around for a bit.

Posted by: pippa 11th November 2013, 09:04 AM

I am excited for next weeks X Factor performance. Id be so happy if Let Me Go manages top 10 or anything above it.

Posted by: jay727 16th November 2013, 12:13 PM

#36 on the Irish iTunes - hope it gets a boost with XF tomorrow

Posted by: jay727 19th November 2013, 09:01 AM

Realistically 1D will storm to number 1 next week on the album chart so #2 will be the best we can hope for.

Do we know what albums are out on the 16th Dec? I think our best hope of a number 1 album will be on the back of the performance of Face To Face

Posted by: pippa 19th November 2013, 04:15 PM

I never really expected a number 1 album to be honest, and when i knew One Direction were releasing the same week i knew number 1 was completely out. Number 2 is way better than number 35 (12 months 11 days peak). What i do expect from this album is to reach platinum sales and i am confident it will.

Posted by: jay727 19th November 2013, 06:51 PM

Oh definitely! He has faith in what he is releasing and promoting now compared to last time when he had massive pressure to deliver something he wasn't completely happy with.

A top 5 album and single would be great! Just hope as you say he sells as much as possible and promotes it as much as he can.

I really feel that his second single could replicate the success of Let Me Go. It won't go number 1 as it'll be competing against the usual XF single and the random songs that will try and challenge for Xmas number 1 - but if Gary and Elton deliver a great performance in front of 10 million people, it could propel album sales for Christmas (tapping into the TT market) and maybe help him reach the top!

Both Let Me Go and Face To Face are getting lots of play on radio at the moment, especially on radio 2.

Posted by: Aphrodite 20th November 2013, 01:32 AM

Performing the 2nd single with Elton on X Factor provides a great opportunity to have 2 decent sized hits off this album and that performance should boost album sales. If he can open on decent sales and then get a boost in the x factor final it would build up sales nicely, this mixed with the high christmas sales it should manage platinum easily enough.

Posted by: jay727 20th November 2013, 10:59 AM

The Elton duet has been confirmed as the 2nd single today (no release date yet)

The album is getting a release in the US as well on December 3rd! http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FMGZQK6/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_RIbJsb0CH20AZ

Although I don't think it'll do anything at all, it's nice that the Gary, TT fans over there will have a chance to pick up a copy.

It will sell very little in America but for the fans he has there it will be a nice treat. Great that the 2nd single is confirmed already, either way the album version will be available after they perform on x factor so it will chart.

Face to Face is due for release on January 20th. The video premier's on Vevo on Monday.

Posted by: jay727 20th November 2013, 07:52 PM

Really? Why January I wonder?

The single will get it's major exposure on the XF on the 14th of Dec so a bit strange that.

Saying that, it'll be available to buy separately I hope anyways

There does seem an exceptionally big gap between major promotion and release. The date was from his official facebook, so it would appear accurate. Jan 20th is his Birthday, which I'd assume is a coincidence, rather than a relevant fact. huh.gif

Is the Sat 14th Dec XF perfomance confirmed?

Posted by: jay727 20th November 2013, 10:23 PM

Yeh it's been confirmed http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/5274204/x-factors-gary-barlow-to-release-elton-john-duet-as-a-single.html

Posted by: pippa 21st November 2013, 12:16 PM

The album version will chart from X Factor so it will still get the sales which is the important thing, it will affect the peak position which is the disadvantage,

Posted by: jay727 21st November 2013, 12:38 PM

Saying that, it should hopefully be playlisted by radio 2 next week now that it's confirmed as a single, and I'm not sure there's a physical version on sale from the 20th do I don't think it'll be too much of a disadvantage

Posted by: pippa 21st November 2013, 01:47 PM

A physical would be great to see released, i would like to be able to purchase cd singles as i have all his other singles.

Posted by: Aphrodite 25th November 2013, 02:21 AM

My hopes are top 2 for the album, i really cant see him beating One Direction but number 2 with good sales would be great.

Posted by: pippa 25th November 2013, 09:04 AM

I too cant see him beating One Direction so number 2 is good with decent sales and decent sales right through the christmas period would be ace.

Posted by: jay727 25th November 2013, 11:57 AM

Yeah! I don't think there's any other albums out that will challenge Gary or 1D

Posted by: Aphrodite 25th November 2013, 07:08 PM

Thats what i hope, but sometimes an out of the blue surprise comes, id like it to be gary going number 1 but i know that wont be the case.

Posted by: jay727 25th November 2013, 07:33 PM

Not this week at least. I'm still hoping that he'll get a boost after New Year's Eve and sneak in at number 1 with sales being low historically that week.

Posted by: Aphrodite 26th November 2013, 12:53 AM

Yes that would be great if he could sneak to number 1 at a later stage, low sales be it if need be as by then it would built up some decent sales.

Posted by: gooddelta 26th November 2013, 11:23 AM

Face to Face is brilliant, didn't expect it to be so uptempo. The duet itself suggested a piano ballad but it's great to hear a jaunty proper British pop song, like something from the 90s, love it!

Posted by: jay727 26th November 2013, 01:08 PM

Yeah it's a fantastic song and great vocals from both!

Posted by: jay727 26th November 2013, 04:03 PM

Apparently SISYL sold 44,000 copies on the first day of release

Posted by: pippa 27th November 2013, 09:32 AM

44,000 for first day sales is a wonderful start, it may manage 100,000 in total maybe this week?

Posted by: jay727 27th November 2013, 10:45 AM

It would be amazing if he could! As we expected though 1D sold 115000 as of yesterday

Posted by: pippa 27th November 2013, 06:00 PM

Gary number 2 as we expected but sales of 58,000 which is more than impressive, he may just make 100,000 by the end of the week. One Direction have a massive lead which isnt a surprise. Platinum status for Since I Saw You Last is the worst possible outcome now. Part of me thinks he is in with a chance of achieving half a million sales by the time the campaign is totally finished.

Posted by: jay727 27th November 2013, 06:10 PM

Is that 58,000 up to the end of yesterday?

Posted by: Aphrodite 27th November 2013, 11:14 PM

From reading the midweeks it appears that way. Some interesting info in the midweeks write up, it said 58,000 means it has sold over double of 12 months 11 days which means 12 months complete total is around 25,000 which is awful as in my opinion its a great album and still is to this day even though Gary himself even disagrees, it also says 12 months opened on 1st week sales of 5,000. What a turnaround for this album and it still has loads of sales left in it yet.

Posted by: pippa 28th November 2013, 09:18 AM

Gary and Elton are number 91 on itunes, i hope it can make the top 100 on Sunday, it appears the only cherry pick from the album that i can see.

Posted by: pippa 29th November 2013, 01:55 PM

Number 2 on Fridays update with 87,000 sales, he will easily manage 100,000 now and probably sell similar to what Robbie managed last week. One Direction are 100,000 ahead of him, their sales are just phenomenal.

The album has made a number 5 debut in Ireland which is also some good news.

Posted by: Aphrodite 29th November 2013, 10:09 PM

Opening on 100,000 will be brilliant and its looks certain to do it, hopefully he will now manage at least 4 weeks of very decent sales.

Posted by: jay727 29th November 2013, 11:02 PM

If he can get 100k that'll be amazing! Just a shame that 1D released on the same week

P.S - the BPI have updated SISYL to Silver with sales of 60,000. Hopefully they'll update him again on Sunday to Gold with 100,000 sold

Posted by: Aphrodite 30th November 2013, 11:12 PM

Getting certifications in week 1 is a good start. I think he will manage around 105,000 for this week, thats only 9,000 sales per day over friday and saturday.

Posted by: jay727 1st December 2013, 06:38 PM

Number 2 debut with 116,000 copies sold outselling Robbie's first week sales in the process!

Posted by: Aphrodite 1st December 2013, 07:35 PM

I am so impressed with his sales and i was also thinking the same about him outselling Robbie. Since saw you last looks likely to end up Garys best selling solo album now based on those opening sales. Lets hope it holds up strong especially over Chritsmas, the X Factor performance with Elton John should give it a nice boost.

Posted by: gooddelta 1st December 2013, 09:39 PM

I hope Face To Face is a big hit, it deserves to be! Let Me Go is also a massive grower, absolutely loving it now. The album is ten times better than I thought it would be and I say that as a big fan of Gary and his previous solo stuff. Good for him ending up at #2 on both charts!

Posted by: jay727 1st December 2013, 10:04 PM

It's great great news! Very very happy for him. The icing on the cake now would be to have a top 10 with Face To Face and for Gary to climb to number 1 on the back of it

Posted by: Aphrodite 1st December 2013, 11:13 PM

Hopefully he will sell at least 60,000 this coming week and sales should increase again in the third week, the album really should hit platinum by end of the year, after that hopefully it can build up a decent chart run and sell even in low quantities for a while.

I wonder how much 1D will drop by this week

Posted by: pippa 3rd December 2013, 07:17 PM

Posted by: pippa 9th December 2013, 07:00 PM

Decent sales yet again and i do hope an increase occurs next week and the week after. X Factor performance will increase sales. Should come close to 400,000 sales by end of year.

Yeah he has promotion this week with the bbc show, RVP tonight and obviously XF exposure

Posted by: Aphrodite 10th December 2013, 01:44 AM

Im hoping he will climb in Ireland this week after the late late show appearance, in the past the Take That release never debuted at number 1 but climbed to the top spot when they appeared on the late late show.

Look up the interview if you can, it was really good he spoke about the wilder years when he was unheard of and he also talks about how he likes to matter.

As for the albums the top 4 is no change from last week One D on sales of 28,4k Robbie is just 250 copies behind One D, Gary Barlow is on 22k, #5 Michael Buble (Xmas album), Leona is #6 with sales of 10,3k,

The album sold 33.7k by the mid-week point last week, so it's slightly up on that at 37k in this weeks mids.

1D are still at 1, with Robbie just 1k behind them. Gary is trailing by almost 10k behind Robbie, sadly, but comfortably ahead of Olly and Buble at #4 and #5.

Gary is a safe number 3 now. Sales this week and next week should potentially add 200,000 sales, 400,000 is possible by the end of this year alone. That in itself is successful, a double platinum would be excellent but i would predict its final tally will result with sales of around 500,000.

That said i am a little tinged with disappointment that Open Road only sold 287,000 as i had thought it sold more. Since I Saw You Last will be his first ever solo platinum selling album.

I'm puzzled by that figure. Open Road is widely reported to have sold over 2 million worldwide, to date.

Open Road is platinum on the BPI website, so guessing that's down to shipping and not sales. It was massive worldwide on the back of TT so it wouldn't surprise me if totals add to 2 million

Needless to say selling over 100k again is fantastic! To go platinum in 3 weeks is superb!

Posted by: Aphrodite 16th December 2013, 11:33 PM

I too am disappointed with Open Road UK sales as i thought it had sold over 400,000 but obviously i was wrong. 12 months 11 days sold around 15-20k in total and sing album version has sold around 200,000 so Since I Saw You Last will easily be his biggest solo seller currently on sales of 298, 853 and i think with this coming weeks sales it will pass 400,000. It should also do ok the week after but after that we return to low sales climates as January sales kick in so he will probably drop down the chart.

A Brit Awards performance would do no harm in February if he can get a slot preferably singing with Elton agin to boost the album and face to face.

Posted by: jay727 17th December 2013, 08:02 AM

Yeah definitely! I think he's probably got another couple of weeks selling 100k each and then we'll see what happens! Double Platinum isn't out of reach either!

Posted by: pippa 17th December 2013, 02:06 PM

This week and possible next are is only 2 chances of achieving 200,000 after that the slow and low sales kick in but has promotion coming up in January which will help, i would agree, double platinum is not out of the question.

28.7k in todays mids, still at 3 behind Robbie, who is 4.3k ahead and 1D leading him by 700 copies.

Surprised at how well Robbie has done tbh. I don't really like his new swing album, his 2001 album is much better bit fair play to him

Posted by: pippa 18th December 2013, 05:36 PM

From the Chart Thread:Wednesdays Midweeks:

1 One Direction (50,7k)
2 Robbie Williams (48,9k)
3 Gary Barlow (43,9k)
4 Olly Murs (36,5k)
5 Beyonce (31,3k)

Gary will stay number 3, sales are higher than last week at this point so 100,000 and over looks certain which means the album will pass combined UK sales of 400,000.

Posted by: Aphrodite 19th December 2013, 10:24 PM

Could sell 120,000 this week which be be brill.

If he does that this week and gets another solid Sunday Monday and Tuesday worth of sales combined with hopefully long period in the top 40 he could actually reach double Platinum

while the album has done fantastically as it is double platinum would be brill.

And officially certified by the BPI as a platinum selling album!

I love the song. He edited it slightly so that the lyric fitted perfectly to the theme of the evening and the videos they showed during part of his performance. He sang it beautifully and it was pretty moving tbh.

i really like it too plus it shows a different side to the album.

Another 116,000 copies sold this week! Absolutely tremendous!

Posted by: Aphrodite 22nd December 2013, 07:08 PM

delighted with the position and even more delighted with those excellent sales, i would have prefered one direction to be number 1 instead of robbie.

Posted by: jay727 22nd December 2013, 08:45 PM

I don't like 1D at all so glad another member of TT is showing them how to do it! Quite amazing really how nearly 25 years on 2 boyband members are selling over 100k a week of their 3rd and 13th albums!

So if my maths is correct, we are up to 414k at the moment! So if he can get another 100k this week due to last minute shopping and voucher purchases, double platinum could be on the cards!!

So Gary Barlow is only 10k behind One Direction and Robbie Williams. He's got his Afghanistan show on TV tomorrow and then his New Year's Eve show - do you think he will go up to number one in the new year? I think so. By the way, sorry I have been lurking so long. I've been regularly reading this forum to see all the latest developments and discussions.

Hi! Welcome to the forum! Great to have you here smile.gif

I'm not sure how much of an effect his Afghanistan documentary will have on his album as from what I've heard, he sings covers like: he's not heavy, he's my brother and buble's home

Saying that I've heard great things about it from the early reviews! Here's one from Ross King: http://www.sundaypost.com/tv-showbiz/showbiz/ross-king-s-hollywood/gary-s-army-film-had-me-in-tears-1.168693

New Year's Eve might help but I suppose it depends on how much of his new material he plays. I'd hope he does least let me go, face to face and maybe since I saw you last at least. But I hear he will have guests so expect JLS, Cheryl and Nicole (maybe TT for NF?)

I would absolutely love him to get #1 but to have already sold over 600,000 copies of new material in 1 month I think is amazing!
Record labels will be wanting him to release another solo record in the future so I'm sure we'll have that to look forward to in the next 3 years or so

Posted by: JG1 22nd December 2013, 10:01 PM

Thanks for the link to Ross King's piece. Lovely read.

I'm thrilled at the sales so far, it's wonderful and just what was needed. I hope he does another solo project within the next 3 years. If TT have an album in 2014 and a tour in 2015, then I'll be looking for another album from Gary in 2016. I'm an eternal optimist.

Posted by: Aphrodite 22nd December 2013, 11:32 PM

All the promo will help keep the album stable which is great and he probably is in with a shout of number 1 but i think he may end up number 3 again. When i originally saw he was up against One Direction i knew he wouldnt make number 1 so i originaly hoped platinum solo album would be great, he has thrashed that now so i just want to to make double platinum.

And i hadnt thought of him recording another solo album, thank you for that jay727, his will no doubt be in demand to record a solo album now that this album has being so succssful, i think we could have Take That album next year and Garys other solo the following, id love that.

Thank you for your warm welcome upon my entrance. Yes, that is a great review. I understand he is also performing some new material. With it being so close among the top three albums. I hope a little bit of extra publicity gives him a number one.

Thank you so much. He really had to release an album this year, as he knew he may not have another chance to use X-factor as a platform to relaunch his solo career as a recording artist. I think the royal wedding tie-in project gave him the confidence. He's really learned the importance of capitalizing on media opportunities this time around. Personally, I hope he focuses on Take That, rather than the solo career. Take That provides the high-profile, the fan base and in the main, backing vocals to his talent.

Posted by: jay727 23rd December 2013, 10:17 PM

Very nice documentary, very moving as well.

Not sure how much of an effect it will have on the album though with only Shine sung from his back catalogue..but a fantastic piece of work there, really insightful.

Beautiful performance of Home as well. Shame he didn't release it for charity.

Posted by: Aphrodite 24th December 2013, 01:54 AM

Whether it will benefit sales we dont know but we do know it definitely wont harm sales.
On a different note, the more i listen to the album the more and more i want since i saw you last to be the third single, really love it.

Up to number 2 this week, just missing out on number 1 but with a strong 79,000 sales. Puts the album on the brink of half a million in just 5 weeks!

I hope so! 105,000 copies from double platinum. How many weeks do you think it'll take to reach that?

Quick note - the album has risen to #1 in Scotland this week for the first time

I'm very happy to see the album back at No.2 with strong sales. I'm sure it'll reach double platinum during January. smile.gif

Posted by: Aphrodite 30th December 2013, 01:31 AM

78,729 sales this week which brings him to 494, 312 so next week will easily see him sail past half a million sales. Sadly next week album sales will return to abysmal sales, so hopefully he can stay top 10 for a few weeks although with big sales on and albums selling cheap (Garys aint one of them) it could see him drop a nice bit. I so want this album to make double platinum now as i really think it has a great chance of doing so.

Posted by: Bond Bug 30th December 2013, 02:00 AM

I'm not giving up on it being number one in UK in the new year with his New Year's eve show to help out.

Posted by: Aphrodite 30th December 2013, 03:05 AM

the show can do nothing but help and for him to go number 1 would be great....fingers crossed it happens.

Especially as it was so close last week! Robbie's album isn't very good at all imo, not a patch on his first swing album. Just hope SISYL gets the boost needed to pinch #1 🙏🙏

its in the chart forum under estimated yearly sales. at worst next week he should manage another 25,000 i hope.

Number 28 on Itunes albums - he was on 70 at the New Year - goes to show how strong supermarket sales are.

Also, it's the first time I've seen him on Amazon number 1.

Looks like he's going to number one on Sunday! Who knows? He might even be there for several weeks!

The midweek could only have two days' impact since his New Year gig, plus Face to Face has gone straight into the A list on Radio 2 playlist, so it could be tight.

Doesn't make sense to me that she can be 5k ahead. She's hardly lighting up the iTunes or amazon charts

I suppose next week will be his last chance really before new albums start to be released. Either way, he could of had a #1 album with 100,000 sales or a number 2 with over half a million sales. I know what the label will prefer!!

The TV special next week should help: Face to Face with Elton and Gary. Gary Barlow's dream of recording a song with superstar, Elton John, is documented with exclusive interviews and behind the scenes footage - only kidding!

Posted by: pippa 7th January 2014, 10:47 AM

I think the album has done enough to keep the label happy, from here on everything is a bonus. It is guaranteed double platinum status now, its just a question of how much more it can sell.

Posted by: jay727 7th January 2014, 11:14 AM

It's been a complete success! It's shown how relevant he still is and that he can sell just as much as Robbie as a solo artist. He's outsold TTC and he would be about level with Robbie had he released a week earlier (and would of also stopped Robbie debuting at #1)

Hope we see another studio album the year after the TT tour

Posted by: pippa 7th January 2014, 05:41 PM

What is great is he has manged his most successful album of his career over 15 years later which is a great achievement and it will result in us getting another solo album at some stage. 10 years ago if anyone said that they would be laughed at.

Posted by: jay727 7th January 2014, 07:04 PM

Yeah Gary has had his best selling solo album yet, Robbie is back on form and has his most successful solo record since (arguably) Intensive Care, and Mark has had his highest peaking solo album. Sets a good platform for the new TT record.

Gary is back at number 1 on amazon!

Looks like The Metro might be jumping the gun? http://metro.co.uk/2014/01/07/gary-barlow-goes-double-platinum-with-first-solo-album-in-14-years-4253558/

But saying that, his PR company just tweeted that Gary has gone Double Platinum (probably based on shipments) either way, great news!!

Posted by: Aphrodite 9th January 2014, 02:43 AM

number 3 in the midweeks today so its holding on well considering its price is much higher than many others in the top 10.

Posted by: jay727 9th January 2014, 06:24 PM

I read on CeleBritain earlier (sorry I couldn't find the link) that Gary has agreed to release another solo collection in Nov 2015 as the label are keen to plug the gap in the usual 2 year TT album cycle now he's gone double platinum.

That information is available here :http://celebritain.com/ but I would take anything they say with a pinch of salt. They make it up as they go along. The sales they quote for Gary on their site are, in fact, Robbie's total sales. They're not the brightest.

Posted by: pippa 10th January 2014, 02:57 PM

I could not see how he would manage a new Take That album and solo album in the one year.

Posted by: jay727 10th January 2014, 06:47 PM

It would be the year after Pippa, so say 6 months after the stadium tour.

Posted by: Aphrodite 12th January 2014, 03:46 PM

would that mean a new solo album in 2015?

Posted by: jay727 12th January 2014, 09:48 PM

Yeah I think that's what has been suggested, so watch this space!

Another week in the top 3! About 20k this week so 550,000 sales so far.

Let Me Go down to 22 but has passed 300k now

Posted by: pippa 13th January 2014, 09:09 AM

Extremely steady top 3 run so far in the album chart, i hope that trend remains within the top 10 for a while.

Posted by: pippa 29th January 2014, 09:10 AM

Sales overall are back to the low climate again, based on that the best we can hope for is remain top 10 this week and sales of 7,000.

Posted by: pippa 29th January 2014, 04:02 PM

Apparently the album has dropped 11 places to number 17 in the midweeks. Gutted with that as he wont get those 10 weeks top 10. Sales will probably be nearer to 5,000 now instead of 7,000.

I am trying to find out what the album position is for today, hopefully someone at the Chart forum will have some information. I just clicked onto the Irish charts and Gary has bounced back a little from last weeks big falls, he climbs 9 positions to number 22 there this week.

There's still a possibility he could climb back into the top 10, sales are very close right now. This should bring him to 570k now

It will be 570,000 or there abouts, last weeks number 13 was Haim and just sold over 7,000 copies so hopefully Gary has the same which will bring him very near 570,000.

So yeah 570k so after 10 weeks! Only a few hundred separating Gary from most of the top 10

Posted by: Aphrodite 3rd February 2014, 08:09 PM

gary has narrowed the gap on robbies album by 20,000 this year.

Posted by: pippa 5th February 2014, 01:38 PM

I really do not know what to expect in relation to Garys position for this week, i would like to think top 15 is very possible.

Posted by: pippa 5th February 2014, 04:49 PM

Number 21 in todays midweeks. Previous midweek positions were always lower than the Sunday position,if that occurs this week we can hope the album stays top 20.

Posted by: Aphrodite 5th February 2014, 08:16 PM

i hope it can grab a top 20 place by sunday.

Posted by: pippa 6th February 2014, 09:10 AM

As the album is dropping now and no promotion on the way i am thinking it will take at least 5-6 weeks before it officially reaches double platinum status.

Posted by: Aphrodite 9th February 2014, 07:14 PM

Number 15 today which is great, it improved 7 places from its initial midweeks position, hopefully it can stay top 20 next week too.

Happy with that! Should be another 5/6k or so this week! So roughly 575k now

Posted by: Aphrodite 10th February 2014, 12:53 AM

Ya im happy with that too as i was initially disappointed with the midweek position and was hoping for top 20 today so top 15 was a nice surprise.

Posted by: pippa 10th February 2014, 12:00 PM

A Brit performance (highly unlikely as i have heard no rumours) would have been great promotion for him. Gary needs to get the project moving again, face to face looks like it is not really happening so another single should be lined up otherwise the album will fall away down the chart fast from here on in. A new single with promotion will give the album a nice boost to see it sail way over the double platinum mark officially.

Top 15 is a good finish for last week considering where it was early week, but it will most likely slide out of the top 20 this week, and with the Brits coming the Brit effect will more than likely push Gary out of the top 40.

Posted by: jay727 10th February 2014, 12:25 PM

It's silly really how he didn't get a nomination (or Robbie for that manner) especially as he has one of the biggest selling albums of 2013, sold out his tour and had a hit single with LMG

Would've been great to have him and Elton perform F2F

Posted by: pippa 10th February 2014, 02:38 PM

Gary would be eligible for next year, i am almost certain that albums have to be released before the end of October to qualify for the Brit nomination, therefore making him and the album eligible for next year, Robbie would be the same.

Progress was nominated for a Brit in feb and was released in November though Pippa?

Looks like a solid 5k this week in sales as no.12 sold 6,300

Posted by: pippa 10th February 2014, 06:54 PM

I must be raving mad, i was sure i had read that somewhere before, well if thats the case sod the Brits, that album deserved a nomination.

Posted by: Aphrodite 11th February 2014, 01:07 AM

A Brit nomination and or performance would have been great and a nice opportunity to boost sales. As face to face though seems to over with i too want another single. I think Gary needs another single with promotional slots to give the album a nice push. I know Gary is probably working with Take That now doing the new album so maybe time is limited, it will be interesting to see when the new Take That album is released will since i saw you last gain some sales too as if people like the new take that stuff it may give them that push to buy Garys album.

Posted by: jay727 11th February 2014, 07:56 AM

I think the album will get a few thousand boost just before the tour kicks off as is usually the case so that'll keep things ticking over

He's promoting SISYL in Europe and Australia towards the end of feb and start of march so he could have time to perform on maybe a BGT live show or something similar over here before the tour...

Posted by: pippa 11th February 2014, 12:46 PM

BGT would be a great performance slot, the tour should also lift sales, i do hope it has a long chart run overall.

15 in the mids

Posted by: Aphrodite 12th February 2014, 10:33 PM

going previous weeks gary has ended up higher on the official chart than midweek position so top 15 looks safe, valentines should benefit him aswell.

Posted by: jay727 12th February 2014, 10:55 PM

I didn't think of that! Excellent shout! Hopefully top 10 then. Should have another 5/6k this week then at a minimum so 580k

Posted by: pippa 13th February 2014, 12:50 PM

A climb to top 12 could then be possible or a very late surge could see a top 10 return which would be the ideal result.

Fantastic news Pippa! So he'll have spent 10 weeks in the top 10!
Sales wise he'll be hopefully closer to 10k than 5k. Would be great if he could draw close to 585 this week!

Posted by: pippa 14th February 2014, 02:36 PM

Sales in general should be up this week due to valentines so 10k or near it could be possible now he is back in the top 10.

Really pleased its back in the top 10, hopefully sales are decent enough for this week, i do hope the Brits effect doesnt completely push him way down the chart next week.

I'm hoping there might be a surprise Gary Elton performance...probably in vain unfortunately

Posted by: Aphrodite 17th February 2014, 01:00 AM

a surprise performance would be great but i cant see it happening unfortunatly.

Posted by: pippa 17th February 2014, 09:05 AM

Ideally it would be performed at the Brits, the best we can possibly look forward to is Gary presenting award. I do hope he can hold a top 20 position, everything is against him for this coming week, Brits which he isnt really part of and his album is still selling at full price so this could be a bad week for the album. It would be great if it could recover again though should it drop significantly.

6,820 sales for this week, really thought they would be higher but sales all round in both the singles and album chart were terrible for last week.

Posted by: jay727 17th February 2014, 02:03 PM

So we are probably looking at sales to date being just over 580k

Hopefully it'll keep generating 5k a week for the next month. Almost certain it'll be double platinum now though. Especially with another 10k or so probably being purchased before the tour, Mother's Day etc

Posted by: Aphrodite 17th February 2014, 09:57 PM

Mothers day should benefit him whether it will be a good sales climate or not, after the disappointing sales all round from valentines effect it may not be huge but the chart position should improve if nothing else. It will 100% make double platinum but it will more likely happen around Paddys Day going by currrent sales.

Posted by: Aphrodite 17th February 2014, 10:12 PM

Since I Saw You Last remains number 3 on the years best sellers to date on 87,000 with Avicii and Bastille very close. Avicii will most likely pull ahead of Gary in the next week or 2 but he may be able to fend of Bastille for a little while longer.

I agree, probably about 4 weeks and we should see it reach the magic 600,000

87,000 is great, very good to see Gary number 3, this album has done wonders for him!

Posted by: pippa 18th February 2014, 09:05 AM

100,000 when it reaches there will be the same time as is it reaches platinum overall, gold certification for 2014 alone and double platinum in total.

Ouch ouch ouch at he horrible midweek position of number 25. I expected a big drop after the Brits aired but certainly not before it. We can but hope he follows the trends of recent weeks and once again improves on the midweek position. Id settle for number 20.

20.02.2014 / 16:30 – Deutsche Welle / euromaxx
24.02.2014 / 17:45 – ZDF / Leute Heute
24.02.2014 / 17:15 – ARD / Brisant

Sales should be that, well i am hoping so. Hopefully the Brits effect wears off this week and Gary starts to climb, my slight worry is he dropped significantly early last week before the Brits were aired, but, on saying that all the nominees had promotion out been shortlisted which would not have helped Garys sales.

Posted by: pippa 24th February 2014, 01:38 PM

In all the media coverage about the single and on his website itself it says that the album has gone double platinum already.

Guess that means it's shipped that many, similar to how they certified in the past. Either way, great to see it called a double platinum album on his official website. He must already have the big 2x platinum disc

Only about 14k away!

On a slight separate note, looks like Gary is in LA right now:

Gary Barlow was locked away yesterday getting ready to perform some gleeful harmony in front of some of Hollywood’s biggest hitters at Saturday night’s premier Oscar party.

The singer-songwriter and Laura Michelle Kelly were rehearsing numbers he has written for the musical Finding Neverland.

The audience in the Montage hotel’s Marchesa ballroom listening to his efforts will include the evening’s hosts Bob and Harvey Weinstein, Judi Dench (if she makes it in time from India, where she has been filming), Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep, Steve Coogan and Leonardo DiCaprio.

I heard some of Barlow’s songs at a workshop last September and they were melodic and exciting.

I would hazard a guess that he's about 7k away from 600,000 now

The tour should boost him and the single

Posted by: pippa 24th March 2014, 12:10 PM

Englebert Humperdink is number 31 at sales of just over 3,100, that would mean Gary would be 3,000 or sales more up as well. All going to plan, he should be passing double platinum next week.

Climbs to Number 20 in today's midweek update. The thing is, as we have discussed, Gary has proven to end up higher on the official Sunday chart than the first midweek update, following that trend, top 20 should be secure and there is potential for a top 15 return. If we say he is certain to a make a top 20 return the sales should be enough to finally certify the album double platinum in actual sales. heart.gif cheer.gif heart.gif cheer.gif

Posted by: Bond Bug 27th March 2014, 01:52 AM

Well, he's got the tour starting Saturday, Mother's Day - including special offers and airplay for the new single, so maybe back in top 10 is possible.

Posted by: pippa 27th March 2014, 09:11 AM

A Top 10 return would be ideal and much welcomed, in its life time i think the album has possible potential to have 700,000 sales to its credit.

Posted by: pippa 28th March 2014, 11:32 AM

In the latest set of midweek information Gary has now moved up to number 15. Is top 10 in sight? Saturday will see many people making their last minute mothers day present purchases so at a guess i believe top 10 is achievable. Should it not happen, to be top 15 on the week it is officially certified double platinum is wonderful news.

With his tour kicking off at the weekend, it could potentially be enough to help stabilise the albums sales for next week and we have the single following shortly, the album looks like it could build up a couple of more weeks within the top 40 chart.

it will probably drop a nice but this week but from here its a bonus, we all originally wanted a platinum selling akbum and its doubled that, i do think it will in time make 700,000 sales which is fantastic.

I was secretly hoping re-entering the top 10 would happen but was cautious that it may be unrealistic so i am so happy Gary managed it. I hope sales in the top 10 are high this week, over the last couple of weeks the number 10 album has sold 7,500 or there abouts, those figures will be certifying it double platinum so we need around 97,000 more sales to make tit to 700,000 Aphrodite which i do agree with is possible.

To be certified double platinum, and to have been in the top 40 since November is remarkable. And now he is playing the biggest solo arenas he has ever done, so pleased for him!

P.s - he has the 8th biggest selling album of the year so far http://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/the-official-top-40-biggest-selling-artist-albums-of-2014-so-far-2874/#.UzsSznsyyhY.twitter

The album i certainly agree has done much more than what we could have hoped for. A top 20 position for this week would add a further 5,000 sales and with the tour and single it should keep the album within the top 40 for another couple of weeks. His tour has sold out so this solo era for Gary is exceptional and by far his most successful solo era to date.

Posted by: jay727 3rd April 2014, 07:52 PM

Yes Pippa, and now people looking at Gary's solo career will see a gold and two platinum albums, one being double platinum!

Let me go and SISYL together will sell a million when added together sooner rather than later!

Posted by: pippa 4th April 2014, 11:43 AM

Easily a million combined, both must together be around 940,000, i am sure face to face has sod at the least 20,000.

Posted by: pippa 4th April 2014, 01:20 PM

Now up to number 14 in today's midweeks update. The album has also climbed back into the top 15 in Ireland. All we need now is Let Me Go to climb this week to round off a fairly good week for King Barlow!

Posted by: jay727 6th April 2014, 10:09 AM

Saw him at the O2 last night and he was absolutely fantastic! His vocal range on some of the songs he performed was outstanding!

Great variety of songs, something for everyone and 20,000 people in a sold out O2 loved every minute!

Posted by: Aphrodite 6th April 2014, 11:30 AM

im so envious as id have loved to go to his irish dates but couldnt get tickets, glad you had a good time, did ge play much of his older solo material?

Posted by: Aphrodite 6th April 2014, 05:49 PM

Officially number 15 this week. Hopefully top 20 again this coming week. dance.gif

It was great! He did Let me go, face to face, SISYL, dying inside, jump and requiem from the new album, and Lie to Me, So Help me girl, shame, sing and forever love from previous solo albums.

Really good mix, he did the swing section again with some TT classics, a really lovely acoustic of how deep is your love and The Garden.

I saw robbie at wembley last year which was really really good...but Gary's show last night was head and shoulders above it. Really was a show that had something for everyone.

Posted by: Aphrodite 6th April 2014, 08:47 PM

the only disappointment is no this house as i adore that song.

Posted by: jay727 7th April 2014, 01:43 PM

I too like that song

Another 6,000 to the tally, taking it to just under 620,000

Posted by: pippa 7th April 2014, 01:44 PM

Sales just 102 copies short of 6,000 for last week leaving the album standing on the ever impressive sales of 615,000 now. With the tour now is full swing and some promotion on the way of the new single, could a firm retention in the top 20 occur yet again this week.

Posted by: Aphrodite 7th April 2014, 06:46 PM

so impressed with sales and also the chart run, anything from here on is a bonus, i would think all the targets have been achieved. Its still selling at full pruce so when the tour etc ends it will probably get a price reduction that will again boost it.

Posted by: pippa 8th April 2014, 08:31 AM

I would believe all targets have been exceeded, I think the target was either platinum or 500,000 for the album, that is only my own opinion.

I was just hoping that he would have a platinum album like Open Road, but to then sell over half a million and then go on to be certified double platinum was just fantastic.

Hoping let me go will go Gold sooner rather than later

Posted by: Aphrodite 8th April 2014, 08:37 PM

My hopes was also platinum so im super thrilled by how well its done and whats even better is it still has some steam left in it yet.

Posted by: pippa 9th April 2014, 10:34 AM

It most certainly has much life in it yet, the low sales climate in general will help the album extend it chart run, 1,500 sales and sometimes 1,300 sales can keep an album in the top 75 region. The comeback of Take That will only benefit Since I Saw You Last, i do believe the album could achieve 40 plus week in the top 75 end of the chart and possibly 50 in the top 100.

Posted by: pippa 9th April 2014, 04:54 PM

Number 15 in the Wednesday Midweek update, top 20 is safe now and remaining top 15 is highly possible. Another possible 5,000 sales this week dance.gif

A tour re-release is something the record company and Gary should consider as i think it has potential to perform well.

The album is £5.99 for a limited time right now! It's up to 17 on iTunes

Posted by: pippa 10th April 2014, 01:02 PM

Extremely clever marketing move to coincide with the tour, top 15 is the likely outcome which is fantastic for this week.

Posted by: Bond Bug 10th April 2014, 04:03 PM

The album is now 15 on Itunes - or on the Artists' chart (without compilations of various artists) number 8!

Last time I checked it was at 79

brilliant climb, i know digital sales arent anything huge but it all helps, hopfully he stays top 15 or sneaks into the top 10.

Posted by: pippa 11th April 2014, 08:04 AM

Another return into the top 10 would be a lovely surprise and i am starting to think that he wont be far off either way when we see the chart on Sunday.

Number 12 in the update

Coming nearer and nearer to the top 10, keep going Gary dance.gif

Posted by: Aphrodite 12th April 2014, 06:52 PM

Hopefully it can make the top 10 but top 15 is still great, the album drops 7 places to number 22 here in Ireland this week on its 20th week in the chart.

Posted by: Aphrodite 13th April 2014, 06:01 PM

Number 12 offically today, not a bad result at all, hopefully sales of around 7-8 thousand for that position.

Posted by: pippa 14th April 2014, 08:09 AM

Number 12 is impressive, the chart run to date is great, a top 20 position for this coming week would be great.

Posted by: pippa 14th April 2014, 10:25 AM

Sales for Since I Saw you Last appear to be around 6,500.

So he's on about 621,000 now

Posted by: Aphrodite 15th April 2014, 12:02 AM

ya roughly and here is hoping for anther 4,000 minimum this week, since i saw you last is edging nearer and nearer to the sales of swings both ways by robbie.

Posted by: pippa 15th April 2014, 08:09 AM

The gap must be only around 80,000 or less now. Outside the Christmas market Gary has well outperformed Robbie.

Posted by: Aphrodite 17th April 2014, 01:16 AM

down 10 to 22 this week so top 20 is possible.

Posted by: pippa 17th April 2014, 09:16 AM

The first midweek is always the lowest position for him, i would more than agree with the possibility of a top 20 return.

So 625,000 to date

Posted by: Aphrodite 22nd April 2014, 12:28 AM

Ya in or around, hopefully the last remaining promotion and single (if it happens) can get the album to 700,000. With the current sales climate it takes less than 1,000 sales to remain top 100, roughly 1,200 to get a top 75 entry so hopefully the low sales further down the chart will help Gary build up a good few weeks on the chart.

Posted by: pippa 22nd April 2014, 09:59 AM

700,000 will happen, the Take That return can do nothing but add sales to his solo album, combine with price reductions 700,000 is a cert by the end of 2014 i believe.

Posted by: Aphrodite 24th April 2014, 12:50 AM

Number 31 in the midweeks down 14 places. Should manage top 30 in time for Sunday which is fine considering there is no promotion etc.

Posted by: pippa 24th April 2014, 08:10 AM

Gary will no doubt recover for the remainder of the week and re-claim a top 30 position (between 26 and 28) on the official chart.

Posted by: jay727 24th April 2014, 01:00 PM

He's just received an award for selling out 17 arena dates and selling 165,000 tickets in the process. Have a lool on his twitter page for the picture!

Posted by: pippa 24th April 2014, 01:27 PM

Excellent achievement. It sounds a bit corny but i am so proud of him and how he has turned his career around. I know the solo success is on the back of the Take That success but it did not fully translate last time, it has truly worked this time. The success of the Since I Saw You Last era guarantees us at least 1 more solo album from Gary. After the whole disaster of what what happened with 12 months 11 days i never thought I would ever get more Gary solo material. Sing and Shame were wonderful but Since I Saw You Last has been the icing on the cake.

I really enjoyed his first 2 solo albums and additionally i enjoy Since I Saw You Last, the success of SISUL has made the era that little bit more special. How do you rank his three solo albums to date?

01 Since I Saw You Last - Strongest Tracks> Let Me Go, This House, Face to Face and Since I Saw You last
02 12 Months 11 Days - Strongest Tracks > Lie to Me, Yesterdays Girl and For all That You Want
03 Open Road - Strongest Tracks > Forever Love, Open Road and So Help Me Girl.

Lie to me is still my favourite solo recording from Gary. Cancelling it as a single was a big mistake and an even bigger mistake was not launching 12 Months 11 Days with that single. I do believe that era would have turned out extremely different if Lie to Me launched the campaign.

Could not agree more, Pippa.

Posted by: pippa 25th April 2014, 08:08 AM

Thank you Bond Bug. I do believe many many fans think the same as we do. I sometimes wonder does Gary realise the love for Lie to Me by the fans.

Posted by: pippa 25th April 2014, 01:51 PM

The album has climbed to number 28 in todays Midweek placings.

Posted by: Aphrodite 25th April 2014, 08:04 PM

a bit of a recovery in ireland this week, the album climbs 6 places to number 86.

Posted by: Aphrodite 27th April 2014, 06:45 PM

Number 29 this week, hopefully it can stay top 40 next week now.

Posted by: pippa 28th April 2014, 08:02 AM

It should manage 1 more week, from here on i would predict the slope to exiting the chart begins.

Posted by: pippa 28th April 2014, 01:28 PM

Looks like the albums tally of units for last week were 2,500. Album sales for last week outside of Paolo Nutini are desperate.

Posted by: Aphrodite 30th April 2014, 01:16 AM

not top 40 so far this week, hopefully he can creep back in by the end of the week.

Posted by: pippa 1st May 2014, 08:18 AM

The album has not showed up in the Tuesday or Wednesday midweek top 40.

Posted by: Aphrodite 1st May 2014, 11:48 PM

Hopefully he can creep back in! As we said before he usually improves on midweek indications. Still its done well as it is, anything from here on is a bonus.

Nice to see it still top 40 even if its possibly the last for the time been.

Posted by: pippa 6th May 2014, 03:13 PM

Wonderful it managed to retain another week within the top 40. The James Cordon interview chat on BBC last night surely can only benefit the album so a slight climb could happen this week.

Posted by: pippa 6th May 2014, 03:20 PM

Oh my sweet lord, Since I Saw You Last is number 6 in the mid week chart update. I really really did not see this coming, the album will certainly be a climber this week if though the impact of the BBC show will trail off as the week continues. It be be wonderful if the album could manage to stay top 10 and obtain sales of 8,000.

Take That - The Ultimate Collection is number 37 with various singles making a return to the iTunes chart.

Posted by: jay727 6th May 2014, 04:27 PM

It's fantastic news! I'm very intrigued to see where he will be on tomorrow's update.

Just hope F2F and SISYL (#129) can re-peak

Posted by: Aphrodite 7th May 2014, 12:03 AM

the follow up singles esoecially deserve far more success, its brill to see the album so high and even if it plummets for the rest if the week its probably done eniugh already to stay top 40 at the very worst.

Posted by: pippa 7th May 2014, 10:40 AM

Face to Face achieving a top 75 placement would be just excellent, ideally both face to face and since i saw you last will make the top 75 positions on Sunday.

The surge in sales for the album will help greatly in getting the album to 700,000 sales. Hopefully, the album can mange 5,000 sales during this week.

He's already sold 9.7k this week, but he's a long way behind lily allen unfortunately.

Posted by: pippa 7th May 2014, 03:19 PM

Number 3 and 9,700 sales is wonderful. Even if the album does not sell another copy it will take a top 8 position on Sunday. However, it is more likely he will at least manage 1,300 sales for the remainder of the week and stay top 5 and add 11,000 and over sales to the combined total. He really is closing the gap on the sales of Robbie's Swing when you winning collection.

Posted by: jay727 7th May 2014, 03:48 PM

I think he'll end up with nearly 20k. Just a shame that lily allen released this week or he could have got #1

Any news on F2F and SISYL?

Posted by: Aphrodite 7th May 2014, 11:55 PM

I dont think it will manage 20,000 but would be more than happy to be proved wrong, i think 15,000 is where it will end up which is still excellent.

Since I Saw You Last is number 87 and 98 on itunes
Face To Face is number 89
Patience number 96.

I think since i saw you last has done enough now to officially make the top 100 for the first time, i am not sure if face to face has done enough to return to the top 100. I would love him to be top 3 albums (ideally number 1 which wont happen) and have 3 solo singles and a take that single in the top 100 at the same on Sunday.

F2F is at #129 as well so it should return to the top 100, not sure if it will re-peak though.

Shame that Lily allen released this week as Gary would of had a great chance of being #1

Posted by: pippa 8th May 2014, 12:50 PM

The Number 1 position would be just ideal but i gave up on that a very long time ago and now, i am just so happy to see the album charting so high 6 months later. I can hand on my heart say i never thought the album would do so well. I think including this weeks sales the album can eventually add another 100,000 sales with a cumulative sales result of 750,000.

Top 3 in the album chart is a cert now, Paolo Nutini may possibly overtake again and claim number 2 as Gary is just 500 copies ahead. The number 4 album has sales of just under 8,900 so Gary will not be caught. For the album to be top 3 again is just amazing.

Just a shame he couldn't have had the documentary on last week.

If it was aired last week it might have got him the number 1 album but we have no certs and maybe less viewers or more would have tuned, who knows. That said, i dont think we as fans, Gary himself or the record company can be disappointed by the impact of the show.

I am just happy it is selling the whole time and getting a great boost in sales this week will give the overall tally of the album a lovely boost.

Wow! Just saw that, So saved from falling out of the top 40, and almost getting number one! All we need is for the England to do well in the World Cup, so Greatest Day helps keep it in the charts longer, maybe a new Take That documentary and then we'll be into promotion for the new Take That album, and Since I Saw You Last COULD remain in the charts until next year! A lot of Ifs there!

Posted by: jay727 11th May 2014, 06:28 PM

Maybe they will subtract the money he owes to the UK to his album sales, which would lead to a pretty massive drop for sure. laugh.gif

Good to have you back Pippa! Have a good time?

5k this week, so 669,500 sales now! 700,000 is guaranteed now

Posted by: Aphrodite 26th May 2014, 08:25 PM

ya certainly 700,000 now,i think it will start to fall away down now as nothing left to hold it up until take that return,750,000 iverall is a possibility for the album now.

Robbie's album swings both ways is has only an overall lead of 40,000. Gary really managed to close the sales gap very well. I believe 750,000 is certainly manageable now. It will spend a few weeks to come in the top 100 region of the chart and the odd sales here and there after it departs the chart will all add up. The hype around the Take That return will also get the album sales which makes me believe 750,000 as a total sale this time next year is more than achievable.

In time and maybe this year on the back of the big success of this album a best of could be released that would bring awareness to his back catalogue.

First set of mid week chart information is showing Gary at number 23. This is a decent position at this stage and with some luck the album will remain in the top 25 region and achieve a possible 3,000 sales which would increase over all sales to almost 673,000.

pleased with that position, the album has had a great chart and strong sales to go with it.

The chart run is his best yet and has achieved as many weeks as Open Road achieved, he will now clearly beat that now.

He's at #24 this week! Hoping he can hang on for another week in the top 40 this week

Posted by: Aphrodite 2nd June 2014, 12:56 PM

i think he could manage 2 more weeks top 40.

Posted by: pippa 3rd June 2014, 08:59 AM

Unless the trend of the album to date completely changes i do not think it will leave the top 40 this coming week.

Posted by: Aphrodite 3rd June 2014, 09:24 PM

Now is the time to reduce the price as it hasnt much else to hold it up.

Posted by: pippa 4th June 2014, 08:00 AM

That could work to help maintain sales for the coming weeks while there is still some interest surrounding the album.

Your weariness has proved right, Gary is not showing in the top 40 mid week chart up date.

Posted by: jay727 4th June 2014, 05:20 PM

That's a shame, but 7 continuous months in the top 40, 9 weeks in the top 5 and 12 weeks in the top 10 and nearly 700,000 sales is a fantastic result for the album

Posted by: pippa 5th June 2014, 11:37 AM

There is no doubting the achievements of the album to date are incredible, another week top 40 would be nice if he can manage it.

Posted by: Aphrodite 5th June 2014, 09:07 PM

a late top 40 return for sunday would be nice.

Posted by: pippa 6th June 2014, 08:40 AM

I am secretly hoping that will be happen, as mentioned he does seem to improve his position towards the end of the week.

Posted by: jay727 8th June 2014, 06:10 PM

Very pleased to see the album at #33 this week!

Posted by: Aphrodite 8th June 2014, 06:15 PM

me too, with it not top 40 all week uts a great result.

Posted by: pippa 9th June 2014, 08:08 AM

Wonderful result, i had a slight inkling he might show up with a top 40 place but had number 39 or number 40 in my head. Number 33 is so much higher than expected, Gary might have a very small chance of having a 29th week in the top 40 this week.

Posted by: Aphrodite 10th June 2014, 01:59 AM

not far off 3,000 more sales fir last week, less than 30,000 away from 700,000 now.

Posted by: pippa 10th June 2014, 08:11 AM

It most likely wont reach 700,000 until down near the end of this year.

Posted by: Aphrodite 15th June 2014, 06:42 PM

number 51 this week, kind of expected but should add another 1,500 -2,000 sales.
