With reference to Lukas Graham entering the chart this week, I have produced a list of Danish (and part-Danish) acts to have made the UK charts. My data currently consists of Top 100 since April 2009 and Top 75 before that (so it is a little bit of a compromise but I don't think that makes a whole lot of important differnence here)

Key - $ = US Number One (1959-date), ✮ UK Million Seller, ➜ Still in Top 100 at this time. A line in red indicates a Number 1, a line in blue indicate a Top 10 hit.

Thanks for compiling, I didn't realise there were so many! A few of these I've heard without realising they were by Danish artists (I even have that Marly song on CD single somewhere!)

wow impressive work!!!

that's quite the list, although mostly are minor hits... had forgotten some of them like Saffri Duo or Alphabeat

from the list, probably the most popular in Denmark is Medina, which I never realised had a top 40 hit, Mø is of course very popular too, some girls even wear the Mø haircut smile.gif

Good job! I loved the Toy-Box one. The single was actually called Best Friend, but was listed incorrectly as Best Friends on the chart. I remember being gutted it only made #41

Did Aqua not release 'Lollipop' in the UK? blink.gif It was a massive hit in Australia and one of their absolute best.
Also shocked to see Cut 'N' Move's 'Give It Up' was not massive in the UK too as well as S.O.A.P.
I just assumed these were as big in the UK as Australia.

Nope we didn't get Lollipop. They should've made it a double-A-side for Christmas '98 with Good Morning Sunshine I reckon.

My brother used to play 'Lollipop (Candyman)' a lot. I thought it was one of their worst ever songs.

Some great underrated acts and songs, in particular Lucas and "Lucas with the lid off", quirky rap, DJ Duke "Blow your whistle" a toon, Medina "You and I" should have been major hit, Emmelie De Forest with two fab songs and Raveonettes "That great love sound", a hidden gem.

I will never understand why they never pushed Aisha here, it was massive in Europe in 2003 and would have done well here too i'm sure. One of those weird cases that a huge hit in Europe never crosses over here.

S.O.A.P "This Is How We Party" was an unexpected flop, considering how well it did everywhere else. I absolutely loved them, especially the songs "Not Like Other Girls" and "Soap Is In The Air".

I also loved Toy Box's "Best Friend", shame it made the ungrateful position of #41. Surprised they didnt release "Tarzan & Jane", that was a bigger hit in Europe.

No hits for Daze? "Superhero" and "Together Forever" got regular play on MTV Europe.

Just looked up Daze - both the above had one week in the 76-100 range back in 1998 (@ 76 & 95 respectively). Therefore they will appear in my data when I backtrack that far with the "added" portion of the charts.

Smash Hits campaigned for Tarzan & Jane to get a UK release but the UK label decided to hold it back until the Disney Tarzan film would come out later in the year... but then Best Friend flopped and they didn't bother. cry.gif

Just looked up Daze - both the above had one week in the 76-100 range back in 1998 (@ 76 & 95 respectively). Therefore they will appear in my data when I backtrack that far with the "added" portion of the charts.

#76, another ungrateful position. "Superhero" was awesome.

Smash Hits campaigned for Tarzan & Jane to get a UK release but the UK label decided to hold it back until the Disney Tarzan film would come out later in the year... but then Best Friend flopped and they didn't bother. cry.gif

Yeah I remember hearing about that story. It's not like Best Friend had any big chance of becoming a huge hit, I dont recall it having any big promo or radio support.
