BuzzJack Music Forum _ Spice Girls _ Emma Bunton General Discussion

Posted by: Pipa Jun 7 2006, 07:28 PM

Well, this isn't really news, nor is it that important, but seeing that there is a lack of information about Rachel at the moment, we decided to post this little bit for you.

Emma Bunton, former Spice Girls star who plans to record a third UK album and release it sometime in 2007, has posted a message on her official website stating that she met Rachel Stevens during her tile in LA. The two, who have previously met and been photographed together, supposedly 'hung out' as well. The message is as follows:

Just wanted to drop you a quick line as I've been having a busy time of it - honest! I've recently been in LA for work which was a total blast, I have to say. I was there just to have a few preliminary work meetings but the best thing was that I was able to have a bit of time off - I went to see American Idol which I'm a big fan of - and I also caught up with a lot of mates while I was there: I hung out with Rachel Stevens but I also got to see Geri and Melanie B too.

Nah, more lucky Emma. tongue.gif

Thanks for posting,

It's a shame we never saw Emma in the AI audience. If she was there the same night as Rachel, she must have been close to her if they've been hanging out together...unless they went on different nights.

I'd Be Shocked If I Won!
It had been a quiet couple of years for Emma Bunton, but now suddenly she’s everywhere. As well as being one of the favourites to win Strictly Come Dancing, Emma released this year’s Children In Need single and she’s just moved in with her boyfriend of eight years, Jade Jones. We caught up with her to discuss her Strictly schedule and the chemistry between her and partner Darren Bennett.

"People said to me at the beginning, 'If you do Strictly Come Dancing, it's going to be hard work', but I didn't think it would be this hard," Emma admitted. "But the main thing is, I am loving it. It's been quite hard work but it's really weird because I love it. Even Jade knows I'm usually terrible in the mornings and can't get up, but these days, I'm jumping out of bed. "I think it's because I'm loving every second of it. And when I love something, it's easy to get to it."

She acknowledges though that the dancing has been more difficult than she expected. "The training is very hard work. Bless Darren, he's very patient with me,” she said of her dance partner. “The thing is, I pick something up but tend to forget it very quickly, and he has to keep going over it with me.

"He's become a little bit harder with me over the last couple of weeks, because I haven't had the time to give him, so I think he's getting a bit frustrated with me. But I'm trying my best and we do work well together. There is a chemistry between us - he's just so easy to get on with. We're also the same star sign so we're quite similar people as well."

Emma, one of the favourites to win the show, decided to take part in the dancing competition because she fancied a challenge. "At the beginning of the year, I turned 30 and said to myself, 'I'm going to give myself challenges this year'. I'm not a trained dancer by any means," she said.
"I've done little bits of dancing with the [Spice] girls, which is very simple stuff, but this is completely different from anything else that I've done. There's something so special about dancing with a partner and being taught a new skill.

"I'd be quite shocked if I won," Emma added. "I'm just taking each day as it comes. We've got to learn a new dance every week, sometimes two dances, so I'm not thinking that far ahead - even though Darren probably is!"

While the dance training means working closely with Darren on those sexy moves, she says that Jade isn't fazed by her spending so much time with another man. "Oh no, he's not jealous at all. Darren is married to Lilia on the show, and Jade's come down to a few practices, along with Lilia. We both wanted to take up the tango after watching Strictly last year, and I tried to find a tango teacher to teach us. So before I even got asked to do the show, we were already really keen to take up some sort of dancing - we just didn't get round to it.

"Now whenever I get home, Jade's always asking me what I've learnt today. I always say that I'm too tired but he wants me to show him. So I've been teaching him little bits and he loves it."

She needs to win if she wants to release another song me thinks

Posted by: thisispop Dec 8 2006, 02:42 PM

She stands no chance of winning.

In the last four weeks the judges have voted her Top out of all the dancers in 3 out of the 4 weeks, but the public have voted her bottom four weeks on the trot.

When it gets to the final three contestants it will be a straightforward public vote, so there is no way she will win.

The same thing happened last year with Zoe Ball. Remember teenage girls will not vote for another pretty female. Especially a successful one worth c. £10 million.

They would much rather vote for the "fit" England Rugby player Matt Dawson; the "swoonsome" England Test cricketer Mark Rampakash or the 17 year-old Eastenders actress (who's contract is not going to be renewed = the sympathy vote) Louise Lytton.

Mark and Karen have it going ON! They deserve it

Posted by: val4jadan Dec 8 2006, 03:07 PM

She's a good dancer, but I think the winner will either be Mark or Louisa.

That is your opinion.

But why have the "expert panel of judges" have given her the top marks in the 3 out of the last 4 weeks? rolleyes.gif

Let's face it, the British public like underdog losers, we don't like winners.

It's true ... but I've been ballroom and latin dancing for the last 2 years and, although I don't claim to be anywhere near as good or qualified, I do know SOMETHING (especially how beginners dance and improve) it's totally clear to me that (in my opinion wink.gif) emma is the worst dancer. IMO, the judges couldn't be more wrong in their marks. smile.gif

Don't get me wrong ... as a person and musician, I adore Emma. But as a dancer, she's not the best

well louisa went out last night so she outa the running. emma is one of the best dancers on there but the public just dont give her the votes. and the whole point of the show is for the lowest combined score of judges and public vote, goes out. and if she gets the lowest overral then she deserves to go out. i am a fan btw, but thats just the way it is.

Posted by: Feel_the_Fever Dec 10 2006, 02:36 PM

i was sure louisa and emma would be the final 2

Apparantly she is re-releasing her album after the next single, "You're all I need to know".

Quite strange, but maybe the record company will re-promote it because its got lost in the christmas market. I wonder if there will be any new tracks on it? I've bought the album and it contains 2 b sides from the single.

I'm not sure about new songs though I expect there will be. Also, I don't think 'Something Tells Me Somethings Gonna Happen Tonight' will be on it as I think that fact that there will 2 or 3 covers on the album put people off a bit as well as it getting lost in the christmas market.

Emma Bunton announces pregnancy
BBC Entertainment News

Former Spice Girl Emma Bunton has announced she is expecting a baby with her partner, Jade Jones, a former member of boy band Damage.
The 31-year-old, who came third in BBC One show Strictly Come Dancing, has been dating Jones, 27, for eight years.

Bunton, commonly known as Baby Spice, said: "I guess I will be handing over the 'Baby' tag now to a deserving little new owner."

It is thought the baby is due sometime in the summer.

In a statement, the couple said: "We are so happy, it's unbelievable news. What a great start to the New Year."

Bunton recently revealed she been had diagnosed with endometriosis, a condition which can make it difficult to conceive.

In a magazine interview last month, she said: "I went back to my doctors recently, and they seemed to think it was easing off, which would make it hopeful for me to have children."

Bunton recently reached number three in the charts with her own version of the '60s classic Downtown, for Children in Need.

Bunton is not the only pregnant Spice Girl, as Mel B is expecting her second child in the spring.
She says the father is actor Eddie Murphy - but he has demanded paternity tests.

Geri Halliwell gave birth to her first child, Bluebell Madonna, eight months ago and Victoria Beckham has three children, Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz.

Please pass your thoughts on Baby Spice becoming a mum?

EMMA BUNTON JOINS HEART
Feb 02, 2009 - Spice Girl Emma Bunton is to co-host Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston whilst regular co-presenter Harriet Scott gets married.

Emma will join Jamie for almost three weeks from Monday 16th February to Wednesday 4th March on the London station, between 6am and 9am.

Emma Bunton said: Anyone that knows me will realize that it would take something very special to get me out of bed at 4am! I just never thought it would be Jamie Theakston!

Jamie Theakston said: "We're all so surprised that Harriet has found a fella and the shock that we've also been able to get someone as talented, fun and gorgeous as Emma has nearly finished me off.

And finally, whilst we are publishing quotes, here's one from Heart 106.2s Programme Director Adrian Stewart: We were looking for the perfect partnership while Harriet took time off to get married and Emma fits the bill. Shes great fun, lives life to the full and is a hard-working mum someone our typical Heart listener can relate to..plus, she knows how to keep Jamie Theakston in check!

Nice to see her doing something!

Daily Star:

Spice girls to release NEW MUSIC as part of their comeback but it won't be as a group
GOOD news Spice Girls fans - the pop superstars WILL release new music as part of their surprise comeback.

The bad news, however, is that it won't be as a group.

I'm told Emma Bunton has secretly been working on solo material in the hope of making a pop comeback.

It's 11 years since the Heart Radio DJ released All I Need To Know, which was her last solo single.

But my source claimed: "Emma has been secretly working on new music.

"She really enjoyed being back in the studio with Geri and Mel B when they were originally planning the Spice Girls comeback, under the alias of GEM. Although that project never saw the light of day it made her realise how much she misses singing.

"Seeing former Eternal singer Louise Redknapp performing again has also been a motivating factor.

"It's very early days but a solo project is under way."

Emma enjoyed seven top 10 singles as a solo star, including 2001's No.1 What Took You So Long.

I couldn't find any of Emma Bunton's albums available for digital/mp3 download, on any amazon websites/Amazon Music (android) app, nor Apple Music's (android) app, or websites.
Can such websites only be accessed with a desktop or notebook computer running Windows 10 or Mac OS?

Urgh no Cilla-stuff pls! The result of that was all them covers at the end of LiM which were just lame. The rest of the album is amazing though.

I am just happy she is back at it again. I honestly thought she never would make music again outside of the Spice Girls. This is a DREAM come through! yahoo.gif cheer.gif

By "Cilla-esque", I meant "in the vein of". I don't want covers either.

'All That You'll Be' is an Emma original, as far as I'm aware. And it's beautiful, in my humble opinion.

I really hope this happens (and she doesn't "do a Geri" and get stuck in a cycle of recording albums and never releasing them). It'd be a dream to have another Emma album after all this time. wub.gif

I'm not hankering for huge chart success but I think she'll equal Melanie C's recent successes. Her sound has always been less polarising, so if the material is strong... who knows what might happen.

If this comes out before Christmas, it will make my year.

She posted on Instagram yesterday that she's working on something that's her dream job (whilst looking flawless as ever, I may add!): https://www.instagram.com/p/BmTPvUgA4yp

Also, Beau turned 11 yesterday, I can't believe that. I remember going to see JLS at the O2 about 2011/2012, and Emma, Jade and Beau were sat in the block opposite mine. She's tiny in real life!

Downtown and All I Need to Know are now unavailable to watch on Vevo :/ I wonder why?

These were the links:

Downtown: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NhD4rXkV0yo
All I Need to Know: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=paHyQ897fFI

So her only videos remaining on Vevo are What I Am, What Took You So Long? and Take My Breath Away. Every video beyond that is only available via unofficial accounts. She has such a terrible online presence for her music videos!

That might be the best direction from a business perspective (if she wants the album to pay for itself).

If she can get that market and also satisfy her gay fanbase, she might be on to a winner.

I'm not talking chart smash. Just breaking even and maybe justifying a few nights in a small London venue.

My thoughts exactly as I would have thought Emma is a bigger name, only thing louises divorce and strictly really boosted her profile.

Posted by: Spiceboy Oct 6 2018, 05:05 PM

Louise had a more successful solo career than Emma did tbf 2 platinum, 1 gold and 1 silver albums (3 going top 10) and 12 top 20 singles as apposed to Emma's 2 gold and 1 silver albums (2 going top 10) and 9 top 20 singles.

Although Emma did get a #1 which Louise never managed on her own wub.gif and what a song it is wub.gif

I don't know what the venue size is of the one stated above, Emma could probably sell similar venues to Melanie C, albeit she hasn't built up a touring fandom... I'd go anyway biggrin.gif

Posted by: Jay ☆ Oct 12 2018, 01:02 AM

Touring was definitely a missed opportunity. sad.gif I can't actually remember what she was up to during the second half of 2004... was it just further European promotion of the album? Then 2005 saw her attempt to breakthrough in the US, which sadly was essentially a waste of time.

At any point in 2004 or 2005 she should have tried to do a little tour of the UK and maybe the odd few dates in the Europe, all in small venues - surely they would have done ok for her, and surely that would have been a better use of her time, raising her profile in markets that were somewhat there for her.

I'm rather excited at this album but yes more Free Me or A Girl Like Me than Life in Mono please.

Posted by: Mr.X Dec 31 2018, 09:29 AM

I think somewhere between Free Me and Life in Mono would be perfect, but I also hope she has developed her sound further and into new hights. She had a very strong sound with Free Me, quite unique amongst the pop landscape of the time. Then she furthered it into Life in Mono which became almost like a concept album - or as close to one as a solo spice got - but her solo career seemed to stop then, which was a massive shame.

Now that is bakc on track, I just hope she surprises us. Judging from her outputs, I am sure she will. I just want it to be good and a development from before. It's been 12 years since her last album, so only makes sense that she has also grown with that time.

Posted by: dannjohn Dec 31 2018, 10:52 AM

we didn't discuss new music as i had no idea she was working on it

it was the twelve year anniversiary of 'life in mono' and i congratulated her about it, which she was thrilled about as "most people only ever want to talk to me about the spice girls, which is amazing, but no-one ever talks to me about 'life in mono'" which made me gasp as i explained "it's such a great record, the title track has to be one of the best post-spice songs and then there's 'take me to another town' which deserved to be a single" and she agreed. She said she was pregnant at the end of the era and the label felt like it was a good way to end it as there didn't seem like much interest in the record, which saddened me. She said she hadn't thought about that time in her life for so long and wish she'd done a tour "or something" for it. She also mentioned how the title track was actually a cover and i didn't realise... i said i'd check it out but i didn't. We then sang a bit of 'crickets sing for anamaria' and that was about it... we took a cute pic tho

Posted by: Mr.X Dec 31 2018, 02:35 PM

aaawww that's so nice! Thanks for sharing the story and for your enthusiasm about that record. It is, in my opinion, one of the best albums in the solo spice cannon just behind Free Me.

I am saddned that the record didnt get the attention it deserved, as shown here. It was a clear misfire but I think it was more a marketing/PR issue than anything else, as the record got good reviews and people like her.

Let's hope for the best in the new year with new music!

To be fair the record sold ok wasn't it certified silver? Or was it just short of silver? Either way for #65 and only 2 singles selling it I don't think it did that bad at all. Would have been interested to see what a couple more singles might have done for it.

Posted by: Mr.X Jan 4 2019, 04:55 PM

Agree. I think ultimately it was the marketing/PR that f***ed it up for her. releasing the album on the back of Downtown was such a misfire. The track brought nothing new to the scene and they clearly rushed the promotion to coincide with Children in Need.

Then, with All I Need To Know, the video was cute but where was the promo? A couple of half-arsed mimed performances for such a gem of a song, and nothing else. I think the record company and Simon really f***ed it up on that one.

I wish she hadnt done Strictly. For me, thats where it all started to go down. She had a good name after Free Me and people were intrigued. But her going on that show was pointless and took away from her music completely.

Posted by: Jay ☆ Jan 5 2019, 05:50 AM

A few thousands sales off silver for Life in Mono! Life in Mono sold 53,510 sold as of 2016. I think it sold a bit under 40,000 of those in 2006. Although that seems fantastic for a #65 peaking album, it's reflective of the state of the market at the time - sales were humongous across the board! So the definition of what would have been considered as "ok" back then probably couldn't be said of Life in Mono, even though with the benefit of hindsight and comparing it to today's market, it seems good. I mean its chart run of 65-75-79-128-156-out-188-out shows how it performed amongst other albums of the time - not very well. kink.gif It's all relative.

It took 92,000 copies to be the 200th best seller of 2006 (so clearly Emma would have been far off with her <40k sales). 92k would be enough to be the 63rd best seller of 2018, but of course today's album market is inflated by streaming units, so it's not a very direct comparison.

~

I think Emma's problem with her solo career was not striking while the iron was somewhat hot. The gap between Crickets Sing for Anamaria (i.e. the end of the Free Me era in the UK) to Downtown was 2 and a half years! She was out of sight and out of mind.

I always thought that they could have squeezed one more single out of Free Me in the UK. Also, surely she was in a position, on the strength of that era, for a small academies tour to have been viable in 2004? That really was the point in time to try and carve a path as a live act. Following that, I think she should have been back in the studio with the intention of getting her third solo album out in 2005 (preferably early in the year to have got in there first before Melanie C, Geri & Mel B angel.gif ). Her attempt at making Free Me happen in the US was a mistake, that effort and focus would have been better spent on maintaining her presence in the European charts and building a reputation as a live performer. Instead she waited too long, made a decent album, but then tried to sell it via a cover version & a reality TV competition.

Zoe said Emma would be on Radio 2 on 27th February, but I didnt hear a release date of 22nd mentioned? Does that info come from elsewhere?

Excited for her to begin this era!

They know she's unlikely to have hit singles, so they'll likely focus on getting it as high as possible in the first week then hope that the tour and further singles released to garner Radio 2 airplay will sell it.

I think for the new album a bonus greatest hits CD could help, bit like what olly murs done with his latest album.

Posted by: sammy01 Jan 29 2019, 02:45 AM

This release will be genuinely interesting in how it fairs. Of the 4 Spice Girls likely to release music I feel Emma is best placed to have success. Her post music career has been based around being very likeable and appealing to your 40 or 50 year old mum type figure, they are one if the few people who still buy albums. She is a spice girl though and a certain gay following will always be there too.

I think the single and album should be aimed at the the 2 different demographs, the single should have a vinyl release with a b-sides and a CD single with remixes sold through a website and the download be 59p. She should definitely go the Kylie route of appealing to collectors and try to make some impact that way. Also do G.A.Y, attitude mag etc.

The album should be aimed at Asda mums, go chat on Loose Women about feeling how at 40 something she thought I'm not doomed or dead and still want to follow my passion of music etc.

As for the music it needs to bridge those 2 demographs though which is the tough thing. I think keeping a retro 60s feel is the best bet tbh. The younger gays love that 60s aesthetic whilst it makes the Asda mums nostalgic.

This is also her chance to do some solo gigs !!

Is the February 22 release date only for certain countries and only in digital form?

Does anyone know if her fourth album will be available to buy on mp3million.com?

I'm not holding my breath for physical formats for the single, unfortunately. Even Kylie didn't release a CD single here, only the 7" for Dancing and that was it. I don't think any other BMG artists even got a 7" single. It still surprises me that BMG doesn't concentrate on physicals for singles.

Hopefully there'll be a lot of album formats at least! Standard CD / Deluxe CD / 12" Vinyl / 12" Picture Disc / Cassette were released for Rick Astley and Kylie... but then Gabrielle only had a CD and Vinyl. Hopefully BMG realise that Emma has loyal Spice fans who'd be happy to buy a range of physical products.

February 22nd isn't confirmed (as far as I'm aware), but whenever it is released it should be a worldwide release - downloads/streaming platforms everywhere, and fans should be able to order physicals from her (not yet launched) online store.

Not sure about mp3million.com, I hadn't heard of it before... time will tell!

IMHO, it wouldn't surprise me if they release this on the 27/28th to avoid her getting lost in the new Friday releases. They must know that she'll be dead as a singles artist in the streaming era, so I assume all focus will go on getting the album as high as possible.

Lol yep, 31 incoming 😱 The same age Emma was when she released All I Need to Know 👀👀👀

Definitely seems like itll be out on Wednesday 27th. Like Tommi says, shes very unlikely to do well in the singles chart anyway, so it probably doesnt matter what day its released. She may have more chance of not being overshadowed by other artists by releasing in advance of them - maybe she can achieve a decent iTunes position.

Looking forward to finding out more details. I think well be getting the album in April, after a few weeks of preorders.

Love the new logo! Bit retro chic which gives me confidence she'll still be on her throwback groove with this album biggrin.gif

Posted by: Piers Feb 24 2019, 04:46 PM

I'm not especially concerned with chart positions at this point. They've all hit that unfortunate age ceiling where an artist is no longer allowed to have a hit. I'm also not sure a looming Spice Girls reunion has any sway over how well their solo careers will do. If it couldn't help Mel C in 2007, I'm not sure how it can help now...

I only hope the girls can continue to do their solo work with distributors who have a reasonable set of expectations.

In the past ten years (the "charts-are-done-with-you" era), Mel C's managed one of her obvious best singles (Think About It) and two really solid albums of original stuff...Mel B's released a very likable song...and it's fairly criminal that Geri's Man on the Mountain material never got its proper due (Love and Light is way too good for its fate).

If Emma can even get to that level of expectation, I'm good.

Side note. I'm really quite happy none of them ever truly devolved into the type of artist who just sings about all the stuff they bought and how rich they are. Not. Naming. Names.

I'm so excited about hearing new music, seeing new performances, watching/reading interviews and being able to buy a new Emma album again. When it comes to the charts, I'll just consider it as a bonus if she does well - I'd certainly be very happy and satisfied if she managed a Top 10 album!

I'm just happy she's decided to give it another go, after all these years in which we'd resigned ourselves to thinking she'd never return to solo music. I'll certainly savour this, just in case this ends up being a one-time thing.

I'm liking the logo - can't wait to see the first official photos + single/album covers!

This to all of the above Jay. As I said on Twitter the other day, I can scarcely believe we'll be getting new albums from her and Louise this year. I'm half expecting Holly Valance and/or Samantha Mumba to low key drop a new album between now and the end of the year. Definitely as you say something to savour and enjoy whilst it's there and happening, regardless of the outcome!

Posted by: Spiceboy Feb 24 2019, 11:12 PM

I've learnt to keep expectations low when it comes to success for the girls. Even back in the day the only really successful albums were Northern Star and Schizophonic, the rest all underperformed. I'm just happy to get new music and anything else is a bonus at the end of the day.

Although, to be fair, "Free Me" did better than anyone expected for a solo Spice Girls album at that point. Maybe not a huge success, but at least not an underperformance either.

I don't think it really did tbh....

Free Me sold 140,000 copies in 2004 going Gold, in 2003 Melanie C sold 101,000 copies of Reason also going Gold, Geri and Emma also sold about 140,000 (SIYWF) and 125,000 (AGLM) in 2001 going Gold. Before that only Victoria and Melanie B had failed to have Gold selling albums, I kinda thought Gold was kinda average sales for a solo album from Melanie, Geri or Emma. Obviously the releases in 2005 (and onwards) showed what a success Free Me was in comparison, however compared to previous releases it was kinda average tbh.

Posted by: Jay ☆ Mar 13 2019, 08:25 AM

Emma's strangely ditzy when it comes to the Spice Girls music.

Many years ago (and I don't know how this conversation came to happen lol) but for some reason she was insistent that Stop was a single from the 'Spice' album and was apparently very annoyed at a fan who told her that wasn't true...!

By the way has anyone else noticed that Emma's official website has been inaccessible for quite a few days now? http://www.officialemmabunton.com/ Her team is really dropping the ball on this. unsure.gif

Posted by: tommie Mar 13 2019, 09:16 AM

You'd think she'd remember filming a video for Let Love Lead The Way... it's not like the Spice Girls have such a wast singles discography either.

Posted by: Spice Girls Net Mar 13 2019, 07:53 PM

Even though EmmaBuntonVevo still exists I see the videos are now under 'Emma Bunton' along with the PITP Live performances, Too Many Teardrops audio and the 'Baby Please Don't Stop' music video which bumps up the channels viewing total to nearly 7 million views biggrin.gif

All they need to do now is get the tintinout video shared on Emma's page and to add the Free Me era videos too.

Posted by: sammy01 Mar 13 2019, 08:05 PM

All still seems a bit random and messy, they are adding uploads of singles that don't have their videos on her vevo under 'Emma Bunton' too.

Posted by: Jay ☆ Mar 13 2019, 08:18 PM

Virgin, Universal & 19 really need to get a grip and get Emma's videos/music available worldwide. sad.gif

It's pretty pathetic that only three of her original 10 singles have official uploads right now. It used to be five but Downtown & All I Need to Know were taken down for no apparent reason ugh. It's pretty crazy that 19 have never been bothered to upload the Free Me era videos, and I'm not sure why Virgin overlooked uploading We're Not Gonna Sleep Tonight.

Most people worldwide looking at her "Best of Emma Bunton" play list are not going to be able to play the Free Me & Life in Mono era songs.

In this day and age too the charts mean so little to people it is all about having an artists body of work at a click whether it be Spotify or YouTube.

Quite a few Bunton tracks have leaked today wub.gif

The stuff that is unheard before includes:

Everybody Wants To Be (demo, A Girl Like Me era)
All I Need To Know (demo)

What does everyone think of them?

Personally I hate EWTB and I am glad it was taken off the album (an internal promo cdr exists with it as the final track, with the date being 8/3/2001, just a month before the album release....).

The demo version of All I Need To Know is gorgeous too, although I am glad she went with a different (better) mix for the album and single wub.gif But it is super nice to have it in demo form and check how it could have sounded differently.

But recently when I went back to look on her page wall, my name wasn't included among the 105 fans who had been given a Top Fan badge during mid March to mid April. (In the lead up to the release of My Happy Place.) And that particular comment no longer had a thumbs up (like) symbol next to it. I think those badges are in words only, not an actual on screen badge image.

She was dropped by Virgin. Her deal with Universal was a different one - a 3 way partnership between the label, her and 19 Records at the time, for a period of time, rather than a series of albums. Technically she wasnt 'dropped' and she was not part of Universal's roarster of artists. So she was still independent working in partnership with a record label tongue.gif teresa.gif

Now she is fully again with a record label and still hasnt been dropped regardless of how *coff* successfull *coff* her releases have been ah.

No other spice girl has 3 top 20 albums, end of.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever Nov 27 2019, 01:06 PM

For any of them to be still releasing is great, none of them nowadays are big players in the industry so getting any material from them is a bonus. They have all had some success as solo artists so let's just enjoy it for what it is, we all have our faves but I don't think there is a need to pit them against each other, especially when they are friends themselves outside the whole crazy world of pop.

If Emma has a contract with BMG she will soon be dropped because of poor sales x

Posted by: sammy01 Nov 28 2019, 08:08 AM

Actually my friend who works in the industry told me BMG are happy with Emma and have plans for her next year.

Posted by: Mr.X Nov 28 2019, 11:31 AM

Yeah TBH I don't think she has done as bad as people say she has.
Of course, she hasnt sold bucket loads of records, but for a vintage artist of her size, I do think it could have been worse.

Clearly BMG are playing the long game with her, which is nice! I just hope the next phase isn't this covers and Disney crap they've done this year. And she needs to be working with better producers!

Posted by: Mr.X Dec 23 2019, 09:46 PM

It has happened. After much annoyance, I have stopped getting twitter alerts from La Bunton.

Most of the stuff is so saccharine and boring. I coudnt care less about another tweet from the baking show, the disney stuff or any more Christmas shite. I will give a damn again if she does more music stuff.

UNTIL THEN.... talktothehand.gif

I honestly dont care about any of their stuff. I only follow Emma and Mel C solo as they are the only ones doing music in some capacity. But I agree with you: they waste their time with such bullshit stuff...

Emma announced she was leaving her radio show to become a full time pop star but she is back at hosting middle of the road TV again and hasnt started on a new album at all, after a pretty lame attempt at a 4th one.

Mel C at least seems to be gathering some sort of momentum AND music is coming. At least that.

Mel B's TV career is sooooo cringe, honestly. She deserved so much better as a popstar...

Posted by: sammy01 Dec 23 2019, 10:33 PM

Mel C said her album isn't coming till the end of next year, so expect lots more shitty DJ slots in random countries.

Even solo wise it is always low rent, Mel C will tour in some dingy places to the same 500 people whilst the show is a drab affair.

As solo artists or celebs they really aren't much above Love Island 'stars'.

I'm just being honest, all the solo stuff is low rent and boring as f***. Emma doing the Royal Albert Hall is about as exciting as it has got solo wise for over a decade.

I mean My happy place was the first vinyl album we got solo wise since Free me #sigh

They are lazy, even mel c when solo artists, they go for quick cash jobs with little effort.

Someone has mentioned that she does have a 360degress deal with BMG, so that would include the live gigs she did with Disney and Albert Hall, both of which probably came with a hefty price as usually those companies/venues pay the artist directly rather than it being reliant on ticket sales income.

Back in Life in Mono times, it was stated that she would get 3000 for each radio short promo performance (say, for instance, her acoustic gigs on BBC Radio 2 last year, stuff like that). So that gives you an idea of what type of money she would get for something much bigger like Disney.

So I would say she probably made it up for the cost of it with other endorsements such as that and it would signal as to how she got those gigs, both of which were probably a bit too high for her as a solo artist: the power of a record lable, ah!

Ah I see, that actually makes a lot of sense. I mean she would pull in more money than the likes of Louise, Martine McCutcheon etc who had similar success with their albums just because of her Spice Girls tag alone. I enquired as to booking Melanie C for my wedding (just out of interest rather than thinking Id be able to afford it haha) and it was 60,000 an hour rate and depending on where it was taking place a fee for transportation so I guess that gives an idea of fee for longer appearances...

As much as it pains me to say this, I would be more confident in a Bunton new album than a Spice one, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't want both! And I would think that both would be great actually.

The Spice Girls have never released a bad album. Like, literally all 3 of their albums are excellent albums, great quality and well thought out. The only that makes me a bit worried is the time that has passed since they released music and the last time they did it wasnt very good. But I think if they make it more modern sounding, they could do really well!

IMAGINE 2021 we would get:

New Bunton music with an 80s style
New Spice Girls music with a modern take on pop and disco (like imagine somewhere between Never Give Up On The Good Times and Little Mix's Break Up Song)

That would be SO perfect w00t.gif

Hey hun, let's just call a truce and agree that Emma Bunton is an amazing and versatile singer

No photo from Mel B then ? Well public one anyways

Posted by: Jay❄ Jan 21 2021, 04:59 PM

Sadly she's quite inactive on social media these days! Mel B didn't do a birthday post for Melanie C either.

Posted by: sammy01 Jan 21 2021, 06:51 PM

Yeah it's a real shame Mel B seems to have decided her social media is basically work only and that seems to be only if absolutely necessary. She hasn't posted in 6 weeks and her last post was about the show she is hosting which she is probably contracted to promote.

Posted by: Mr.X Feb 27 2021, 05:16 PM

Do we know if Emma is at all still with BMG or was that just a one-album thing?

I remember that Chris from Spice Circle mentioned they had plans for her in 2020 but nothing since at all...

Posted by: sammy01 Feb 27 2021, 05:50 PM

I'm pretty sure she still is but I think like everything 2020 was a write off. I wouldn't be surprised if something comes out before or around Wannabe's anniversary.

BMG released My happy place in Brazil 2nd half of last year and it was new prints for Brazil as like all Brazil cds they had the Brazil shipment code on them.

Posted by: spiceboy Feb 27 2021, 06:25 PM

I had a feeling she was going to do a Christmas album and tie it in with another Royal Albert Hall gig, maybe that will happen this year instead? I'd be up for it but mainly just for the gig as I'd go see her again, I only rate 2 of the covers on MHP the rest can do one. I do think she sounded good on the Christmas covers she did though, Winter Wonderland and Baby it's cold outside especially.

Posted by: Mr.X Feb 27 2021, 07:12 PM

I seriously doubt she will be asked to do another Albert Hall gig. It didnt even get close to sold out, so Im not sure on that one unless she did in fact have a Christmas album attached to it.

Coming Home For Christmas was supposed to be her 'Christmas classic' and it did bugger all. Like, so bad that it didnt even crack the 1000 sales or 100,000 streams across Spotify and Youtube sleep.gif

Posted by: Mr.X Feb 27 2021, 07:13 PM

I'd hope she does have some plans FOR NEXT YEAR!

This year they need to focus on Spice Girls FOR ONCE

Side note: To my ears That's Why It Hurts doesn't sound like A Girl Like Me era, but apparently it is?

Posted by: spiceboy Mar 7 2021, 09:56 AM

Can't get over her having so many 1CD releases!? ohmy.gif

Posted by: Mr.X Mar 7 2021, 10:22 AM

Yes, specially when those DVDs functioned as CD2. It was frustrating as hell to have songs exclusively there... What am I supposed to do when I want to play the song and dance to it in my room Bunton, Plug my DVD player to my stereo?!

Anyway... those sound gorgeous Jay, though some of those bsides were Not It blush.gif

the A Girl Like Me era was quite poor when it came to music overall.... To Have and To Have To Let Go and Everybody Wants To Be were quite shite, hey...

Lyrically, Everybody Wants To Be is particularly cringe, so kind of surprised it was even considered to be in the album in the first place...

Posted by: Jay❄ Mar 7 2021, 06:29 PM

I suppose Emma could have gotten away with including a few "B Sides are B Sides for a reason" quality tracks laugh.gif For the most part I think the ones she actually did release were at least okay, and of course there's a few gems along the way such as So Long. wub.gif The reason I included those titles in those fantasy track lists is essentially because they're the only tracks we know exist.

I wonder why Virgin didn't commission more remixes? Particularly having none at all for What Took You So Long seems a bit remiss for an era launching single! ohmy.gif Not even a nice acoustic unsure.gif Lazy! The fact they included a 1999 released song as a B Side to be able to pad out its CD track listing... unsure.gif

Posted by: Mr.X Mar 7 2021, 06:44 PM

Yeah she totally has some nice bsides, for sure, though I never cared much for the too-bubblegum-pop of the AGLM era bsides.

The Free Me ones were just STUNNING! Even Don't Tell Me You Love Me Anymore would have been a great track had it been paired with any single from AGLM era, instead of Maybe, ah!

But the run of Tomorrow + Who The Hell Are You + So Long + Taking It Easy + Eso Beso + Summer Samba + Midnight & Martinis is just wub.gif

Totally forgot about the lack of remixes for her first solo single! It does seem quite mad that this was the move. She totally could have put a nice remix in there, or even spread it over a 2-CD with one of the bsides moving to CD2 and slap a remix on both CDs + an accoustic version!

Lazy Bunton or silly Virgin? Maybe both?! Imagine if What Took You So Long? had a CD2! It probably would have gone over 300k sales!!

Posted by: sammy01 Mar 7 2021, 07:17 PM

WTYSL for me is crying out for a dance remix, I just have this feeling it would sound really good with a great dance beat behind it too.

I'm always a little shocked at how much I like the AINTK dance remix, it really shouldn't work but does.

Posted by: Mr.X Mar 7 2021, 10:12 PM

Bimbo Jones smashed it with that mix, actually. It was quite jarring at first but as soon as the vocals came in, I was sold!

She did quite a good mix of WTYSL at the Albert Hall. Would be amazing if she can put out a new mix or two for its anniversary cheer.gif (it wont happen nocheer.gif )

@Jay we should have a Emma Bunton Remix Rate! funky.gif

I think that Maybe (Latino mix), and the Crickets Sing For Anamaria (Element's Crickets Dance On Tequila Booty Mix) where just glorious wub.gif Some of the best remixes in Spiceworld, in my opinion, as they kind of reinvent the original songs and give them a whole new life - and funnily enough, both of them could be singles too (with shortned versions obvs!)

All I Need To Know (Bimbo Jones Mix) was great too, as was the We're Not Gonna Sleep Tonight 3AM mix banana.gif

And obviously both Free Me (Full Intention's Freed Up Mix) and Maybe's excellent Bini & Martini Club Mix too!

Bunton's Remix Discography is BOP CENTRAL!

Virgin would only control the Girl Like Me tracks though.

With that said, apparently her team is "working on it" (although not very hard I guess).

Posted by: sammy01 Mar 10 2021, 11:25 AM

Yeah her team know her back catalogue is not complete on streaming but it's really complicated in terms of who has the distribution rights to what in what area. Some parts of the world the companies or labels who distributed her music might not exist anymore.

A girl like me was easier as it was all Virgin.

Virgin already did that with A Girl Like Me, as it was announced last year that the album was now available on streaming world wide. Now we need the other three albums to get the same treatment, but that will take ages as the rights issue is quite intricate. They were not released traditionally like A Girl Like Me but in a more intricate collaboration between Universal, Polidor and 19 Records, with different distributers in each country it was released. So it will take quite a while to sort everything!

Which different distributors? Both FM & LIM were marketed & distributed internationally by Universal. There were no other record labels involved.

Sorry, I didnt write that very clearly lol

What I meant is that in some countries, different divisions of either of those 3 labels operated, some countries didnt have Universal distributing it, and some didnt have 19 Records, and some didnt have Polidor. So it is almost a case by case scenario, and then it also means that teams have changed/priorities and methods have changed.

It is not a standard procedure where the UK division of the Universal label can simply action it to other countries too, and distribution and rights laws in each country are different. Hence why it takes time - and money - to sort it out.

For instance, in early 2020, Dua Lipa released this video on YouTube with a new mix from her hit Physical which included elements of another hit, New Rules. Due to the issues with rights in different countries around the world over the New Rules rights, she ended up not putting that mix on streaming services at all. And Dua has a huge team and record lable around her, but also has a similar deal like Emma did back in the Free Me/Life in Mono era where it is a 3-way partnership between the artist team and the record label rather than a traditional 360degrees deal (which I assume Emma now had with BMG)

Posted by: Mr.X Mar 10 2021, 07:16 PM

On another point.... I had a couple of messages with a insider who knows quite a lot of Spice-related stuff and has direct links with the girls, and he wasnt too confident with Emma working on music right now, but he did say that he wasnt 'sure' about it but 'hopes so'....

Oh well..

Posted by: sammy01 Mar 10 2021, 07:38 PM

If you look on kworb even now it has all Spice girls videos as blocked in Serbia, so even a massive band with Universal sorting their catalogue just can't sort the rights for certain things.

As for Emma if she was going to release music I think she has left it too late to do anything before the Spice Girls anniversary now. I'm assuming the girls will have filming commitment dates booked in already for the documentary/goggle box type thing and whatever they might do.

I think all 4 will be pretty quiet this next 2 or 3 months, Melanie wraps up The Voice Kids on Saturday (when the final is being recorded).

Unfortunately, this sounds like totally the kind of thing that celebrities like what Emma has become would do in lockdown for a year.

Boring as hell, no-one really needs it either, but it is minimum effort for her so she will do it... dry.gif

The girls test us at every turn

Posted by: Alberto! Apr 19 2021, 01:33 PM

Well I guess work doesn't grow on trees, so good for her.

Obviously I find it personally very reductive to see her release a cover album and flog baby parenting books/products, but not unexpected at this point.

Posted by: sammy01 Apr 19 2021, 08:52 PM

Books are always such easy money and minimal effort, so few books by celebrities do they actually have much involvement in the actual process of being put together. Emma will have jotted down a few anecdotes and the rest will have been done for her.

I get it but I'm not interested.

Yeah these types of releases are nothing but a quick cash in with little involvement from the actual celebrity. It's why I'm not interested at all. If it was a biog or a novel, or something she really invested her time and talent in, I would be all in. This, however, is just meh...

No shade to mum-focused publications by the way, I think they can be amazing and both my sisters benefited a lot from books on how to be a mother, I see the value in that.

Posted by: McAndrew Apr 20 2021, 11:20 AM

Sadly, I agree with most of the sentiment here. I don't think this publication is going to appeal to Emma's fanbase.

But maybe she's got an informative new angle that will bring something different to her book. I could see her having a great point-of-view on a modern gender-neutral approach. That could garner her some success, with the right publicity.

Posted by: tommie Apr 20 2021, 01:33 PM

I guess it depends on how you define Emma's "fanbase" - I'm sure there's a lot of women in their late 20s and early/mid-30s who grew up listening to the Spice Girls and now have kids...

Posted by: sammy01 Apr 20 2021, 07:17 PM

Yeah I mean from a business sense this will appeal to her Kit and King and Heart radio listeners I'm sure.

Posted by: dannjohn Apr 21 2021, 10:18 AM

Sadly it mums and gays that she appeals to and really the gays are only interested in a short, Mighty Hoopla setlist of about 5 songs.

Pride isn't the only gay context for artists to play at and she has consistently supported the gay community. I think during the Free Me era she played also in LGBTQ+ contexts, she always played GAY for each era - even the Life in Mono era was launched at GAY at the Astoria, so I am not sure what you mean about that?!

As a queer person, I never go to pride as it is really exclusionary nowadays, and there are many many more non-Pride focused ways that Emma has consistently supported and played with.

Posted by: Alberto! Apr 21 2021, 09:50 PM

I don't think he's attacking neither Emma nor the LGBTQ+ community, I probably agree that the average gay is more interested in a 5-hit performance at an LGBTQ+ extravaganza festival than in a parenting book or a cover album (I'm saying this as I include myself in that, mainly cause I love Mighty Hoopla and would probably enjoy that more than her latest offering mentioned above, that's it). Not taking anything away from Emma's potential, her support of gays nor from the whole LGBTQ+ community smile.gif

Set List (Main Stage)

1. What Took You So Long
2. Dont Call Me Baby
3. Ill Be There / TMBA
4. Downtown
5. 2 Become 1
6. Maybe

Posted by: dannjohn Apr 22 2021, 09:05 AM

yeah i'm not attacking the LGBT+ community... i'm talking about someone who actively supports and love the community and is part of it...

Watching Mel C perform at Prides and Mighty Hoopla shows that besides the hits (besides a handful of people), no-ones too interested in the album cuts.

In an ideal world, I'd love Emma to do a small gig somewhere and do some rare cuts but I just don't think she's too invested...when you've had such success as the Spice Girls or even her solo career at points, everything else is going to seem a bit... of a letdown.

Posted by: Mr.X Apr 22 2021, 09:29 PM

I would absolutely love her to tour in the future, but she will never do it. She proved she is at home performing her own solo songs and Spice songs in 2019 (lets not talk about the excessive karaoke for a min lol) and hearing her sing Free Me, Take My Breath Away and Viva Forever live showed she is totally ready for a solo gig of her own!!

But I seriously doubt she ever will, realistically. In her own words, she is 'lazy' and even around the release of My Happy Place she said she would 'do it if it is not too much work' lol I mean touring is a lot of work so...

I think it is a pitty she never did many concerts or even that many festivals specially in the Free Me era. Not talking about festivals like those summer ones where pop acts play one or two tracks only, but proper ones. If there was ever a Bunton era that totally screamed TOUR it was that one. She even mentioned she was planning one with a live orchestra but then, nada...

Anyway, you can now pre-order the book if that is up your street. It is actually called 'Mama You Got This' and it seems to be much more focused on her, with stories about her own mothering experience, so it seems like it is a bit more interesting than before... STILL Im pressed if I am going to spend money on that...

I love Bunton but Im not sure I care enough about this one in particular lol

Posted by: Jay❄ Apr 23 2021, 12:37 AM

Hmmmmm I'm feeling conflicted lol. I kind of want to show support for my fave Spice Girl's first book, but obviously it's not aimed at me and fans like myself... and I clearly wouldn't be able to relate to the contents of the book / I would likely find it quite boring.

Oh, how I wish this was an autobiography instead! Oh well, I'm sure this'll be a successful venture for Emma and I'm happy that she's clearly passionate about this.

To be fair in the past I haven't always bought everything the Spice Girls have come out with... I snubbed That Extra Half an Inch and the Ugenia Lavender books.

Anyway here's more of a description about Emma's book:

QUOTE
You have a baby! Isn't it amazing - and also pretty terrifying?!

I love being a Spice Girl, but what I am proudest of is being a mum. Even though I had all the real-life girl power of the actual Spice Girls on speed-dial, my incredible partner and my mum, I had so many worries and questions I couldn't always ask out loud. What I really, really wanted was one, easy-to-read, honest book that would give me support without judgement - that might even make me chuckle occasionally.

So, I've written it for you! I've included all my stories about what that precious, exhausting first year was like for me, and I've also asked some brilliant experts for their help too, including a paediatric sleep consultant, a trusted NCT counsellor, a mindfulness coach, and no-less than five amazing midwives and doulas.

I want you to feel like you've got this. Because guess what mama? You have!

Baby Spice Emma Bunton can be found on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, where she celebrates being a mum to her children Beau and Tate with partner Jade. Her multi-award-winning baby range, Kit and Kin, launched in 2017, and can be found at kitandkin.com, and in Boots, Tesco and Ocado in the UK. Emma is also the presenter of The Great American Baking Show. @emmabunton

Again, good for her, but whatever... I am mostly happy for her as clearly it is an area she liked to dwell on, from starting Kit & Kin to this, and seems to be working nicely for her...

Its certainly a project with a very target audience.

That's my point completely. Mel C and Mel B kept doing solo stuff around the Return, which in the case of Mel B seriously impacted rehearsals and promo for the GH and Headlines.

Then Emma did her album launch literally the week before the rehearsals started for the 2019 tour, and there was NO promo AT ALL around that time as Baby was focusing on her own stuff..

It's just tedious, boring and pointless. Bloody hope they focus on the group and this is just a one-day thing this time, urgh!

Posted by: sammy01 Apr 23 2021, 09:25 PM

I dont think this will be much of a big commitment, a few tv interviews, Sunday paper magazine interviews and some podcast interviews is what I'm expecting.

Also Wannabe isn't the main focus for this year it's Spice.

Posted by: sammy01 Apr 27 2021, 06:20 PM

Some disappointing news about Emma, so BMG are happy to do a distribution deal with her again but she needs to come to them with a project or music.

As much as I love Emma I just don't see her going into the studio and crafting an album of original music for a few months off her own back. It's pretty frustrating to think the solo spice with that kind of opportunity is the one I have least faith in making the most of it.

It's the sort of deal Geri has probably been fishing for for years now to get her music out and would help Melanie C not incur so many costs and make her releases a bit more professional. Sigh.

To be expected actually. Emma did say that BMG got on board after they heard the album - or at least some recordings - as she was already in the studio. Furthermore, it wouldnt be out of the ordinary for Emma, as both Free Me and Life in Mono were on a similar deal. The main issue here is that she doesnt have the backing of 19 Records anymore, so she is more alone than in those two albums.

And it is not like she sold shit tons of copies of her album anyway, so it is still a risky endeavour. If Emma really puts her mind to it and creates another record with the freedom and creative vision she had back then, it could work. It is my understanding that Blondie and Garbage are on similar deals with BMG, and they got quite a lot of touring and recording success from that. Before their deal with BMG, they were selling mainly small theatres and hardly any chart success. BMG gave them a good push on both areas and now they are touring arenas again and their latest music has been more successful!

Dua Lipa is on a similar deal. Her team does everything and then the record company distributes it, and this gives the artist and their team more space for creative freedom.

So it is down to Emma. I wish she would really put her mind to it, she has proven she can really do well when given more freedom. What she does need is a team around her that will get her to tour and work with producers she wants to, and many good producers will jump at the chance (well, you know, not massive producers but at least some greater ones than those guys she worked with for MHP)...

I just don't have faith Emma would commit to the time and effort crafting a proper album with original songs would take. She earns good money through her radio gig, kit and kin and now a book.

Of the girls (excluding Victoria) I'm sure Emma is the most profitable solo spice these days.

For sure she is bankable. Well, more so than any of the rest at the moment. She should totally go for it and do a small tour. It's pretty clear she is a bit lazy and doesnt have the same fire she did during the AGLM and FM eras. But she could pull off a cute release and do ok if she really got in the right frame of mind.

Mel C should totally do a distribution deal like that with a bigger label, never quite understood why she didnt get one in the UK at least... I do wish her releases where better managed and with a bit more cash thrown at it. She obviously invested her Spiceworld2019 earnings into her career for this last era and did pretty well (finally) and seems to be in a better place now. Probably a distribution deal at least could happen and would uplift her a bit more. It would be great for her to get more recognition and some more promo.

Plus the quality of the actual albums and vinyls were a mess. And also not release the other delux tracks online? Why not?! blink.gif

It was pretty silly of Emma not to tour in the summer of 2004. She left a lot of money on the table by not touring that summer.

I think you need to remember that both Blondie and Garbage mostly release new music as a vehicle to be able to tour, which is where they recoup their own costs. Just releasing music these days doesn't really earn you much these days (if anything at all) and since Emma doesn't do solo tours then I don't really see her been too eager to release music unless it's a cheap personal project that's "important" to her. Just doing music releases is, at best, a zero cost operation and at worst an expense she doesn't need.

I am a huge blondie fan ad their latest tour is struggling to sell , ticket prices are ridiculous. Not even close to selling out the arenas.

Oh for sure. Emma should have totally done some touring - it is perhaps the biggest fault on her career beyond taking 12years to release more and abandoning Life in Mono like she did.

Not touring Free Me was a BAD idea, never quite understood it. Like, she could have easily done it at the time, do some theatres, some festivals, etc. Unfortunately, she just doesnt have the confidence that she can do it, in my opinion, unless it is special one offs (the MCM cafe, or the Albert Hall) or with the Spice Girls which are arranged for her...

Damn it, this discussion really is making me wanting more Bunton music and a live show cry.gif I really hoped she had been planning some music during lockdown but alas it doesnt seem like she will do anytime soon as she is too busy with nappies and her Mama book... sad times.

Posted by: dannjohn Apr 28 2021, 10:29 AM

its weird because the 'my happy place' era was so disjointed... she seemed so happy to record the 2 originals and seemed to fall in love with making music again but then... it was a covers album. I dunno.

I hope she gets that love back that she had?

Posted by: Mr.X Apr 28 2021, 11:07 AM

Same. That's all she needs really. The rest will follow through if she gets her mind into it!

Melanie C should absolutely try and get a distribution deal with say BMG. The packaging, release and delivery of her last album was the biggest problem. It was so cheap, the vinyl is in such thin card it's almost impossible not to damage it.

BMG would no doubt help open up more avenues for her too. I know she loves the 'doing on my own label' tag but at this point it probably hurting her than helping especially with how the record industry is these days.

This 100%. There's no reason to release new music without touring. Touring is where the money is at.

Emma really is building her own little empire if she can keep her finger in the music pie too. A Christmas album seems am easy obvious sell if she can sort some Xmas gigs too. Her deal with BMG is distribution, they will make and distribute an album if she takes it done to them. Her recording 10 Xmas covers and a couple of Xmas originals in a fortnight very little expense sounds doable.

In my experience a lot of women will suddenly want a baby in their mid-40s - I'm guessing it's more psychological that this is their last chance to have another child blah blah blah. Most I know drop the thought when they remember that having a baby is hard work.

The BBC has confirmed Steps will appear as guests on series three of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.

The group, minus Lisa who was in Dubai when the episode was filmed, appear as celebrity “mentors” to give advice to the competing queens as part of the girl band challenge. Lisa’s absence is acknowledged but she does not appear via video link.

Rather than a member of Steps, it is a Spice Girl who appears on the judging panel and the lip sync for the episode is also to a Spice Girls song.

It's that time of year again, Santa Baby is on 3 playlists and up to #4 on her most popular list behind the 3 A girl like me singles.

She could negotiate performance as part of her hosting duties surely. I mean if Melanie can get get royal variety and Emma can sell out the Royal Albert hall I dont understand why they dont get an invite to perform especially if they are already there!?
