New single from UK 2000 entrant Nicki French (who also had a US Billboard #2 in 1995 with her cover of Total Eclipse Of The Heart - when will your faves etc?)

I have to post this as I saw Nicki perform it at the Eurovision London party in May (which she always co-hosts) and thought it was her best song for many many years, way better than her Eurovision entry too imo. A bit like a lower budget of Steps' Scared Of The Dark - but an absolutely fantastic schlager/disco chorus and a brilliant melody in general.

I think it's just a coincidence that the title is so similar to Steps' Tears On The Dancefloor, I get the feeling this song has been knocking around for a while, long before Nicki found out about the Steps album title.

Anyway, this is out tomorrow!

This woman baffles me. Her Eurovision entry was beyond awful even at the time and yet she's managed to yield enough fans to sustain a career in the Euro bubble, of sorts.

I haven't really followed her music career - though I always liked her version of Total Eclipse - but I think a lot of her continued love in the Euro bubble is because she hosts and presents a lot of Eurovision parties and events across the country so loyal followers of the contest remain aware of her. I think fans repsect her continued love for the contest, rather than just dismissing it as a blot on her career and quickly sweeping it under the carpet like so many of our entrants do. She also seems really lovely and very charismatic.

Having said all that, under ordinary circumstances I wouldn't be posting about her new music as it doesn't usually grab me as hard as this song has, but I absolutely adore this track <3

I loved her single 'This Love' from a few years ago where she teamed up with Mike Stock.

And this new song is a guilty pleasure - the video clearly had a budget of £2.67 but the fact she is still releasing music and the EP version of this went Top 60 on iTunes is a feat for someone like Nicki tbh.

Very good...this kind of rather cheesy but fun eurodance/nu disco mix was big in the 00s with the likes of Alcazar, Uniting Nations and Star Pilots having hits in this sort of style, albeit with more of a dance beat to it, which I wish this song had. Not so big now though so I don't think this will become a hit unfortunately.

She’s just released another new single today ‘On Your Marks, Get Set, Go Away’ - gloriously camp and it has no place in 2018 but I love it! She has an album coming in a few weeks too - love that acts like Nicki still bother to release!
