 Sorry these took so long to actually come but they are here now and we have a winner! Thank you very much to the 18 of you that voted, if you still want to, you'd better be quick x How this is going to work is I'm gonna reveal the also-rans tonight, I'm going to do a top 90 because beyond that, there are shows that only one person voted for which I can't split so it looks a bit of a mess oops. 51-90 will be done in groups of 10 so I don't wear myself out and don't finish these for a year and then the top 50 with a post each. I've got a holiday booked in August so this will probably pause for around ten days, but I'm hoping to keep it updated daily providing there's enough interest besides that so I'll aim to get it done before September for sure, so this will take us through the quiet summer months! Please do also use this thread to discuss the shows, even if you didn't vote, any ones you have watched or are watching as I liked that we had that conversation in the voting thread. Also you can feel free to make predictions - Who's won? Who's too low down? Will modern shows win out or those nostalgic goodies? Has Iz lost all of his votes before the top 100? Speculate ;o |

I can actually see the progression of my votes heading downwards! I also think I see some of Brett's votes
 Indicating that his votes are a bit less recent oriented than mine, I know of things like Inuyasha and Eden Of The East but haven't watched them.At least my very top got into the commentary then. Shame The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya was so close, I know things like Fullmetal Alchemist are highly rated and certainly well worth of a top 100 spot here (I hoped other people might vote for that if nothing else) but Haruhi is one of the most weird and genre-defining series in existence, as well as being slightly special to me as the show that got me into anime. One of those landmark series that was created to mock some tropes but ended up becoming far more popular than anything it mocked. It might seem a bit dated now (but certainly much less so than most of the shows voted here  ) but a fun wild multi-genre ride that does something different each week is still exactly that.plus Fate/Zero and Re:Zero are dramatic gold but that's probably enough shilling for one post. Nice to see Aggretsuko clearly got a few scores, that's certainly an easy and fun watch. |

Camp Lazlo (2005) 57 (Same votes, highest: 35) Produced by Cartoon Network by the same producer of Rocko's Modern Life, Camp Lazlo focused on a nostalgic camp full of anthropomorphic animals, lead by Lazlo, the adventurous spider monkey who often gets into surreal adventures with his friends Raj, the Indian Elephant and Clam, the albino rhinoceros, with the setting and colours of a summer camp deliberately chosen to evoke a nostalgic place to visit. It wasn't quite as successful as the cartoons like Rocko that inspired it, but ran for five seasons and had three emmys in it's time. I vaguely recall it but I think this was the point I started to move away from cartoons, shame.  92. Aqua Teen Hunger Force (2000) 57 (Same votes, highest: 34) An adult animated series made for Cartoon Network's late night viewing block, Adult Swim. It focused on the adventures of an anthropomorphic milkshake. a meatball and a pack of fries. It ran for an impressive eleven series, only finishing in 2015. A movie was released in 2007, a sequel was also in the works but was never produced. It caused some significant controversy when a marketing campaign for the new series in 2007 placed various LED displays of the Mooninities (characters from the series) across the country, leading some governments to believe they are suspicious activity and related to bombs and for police to remove them before the creator admitted and was even threatened with prison for causing a panic. Still it got the show out there and they even produced a response episode 'Boston' which was never aired due to fear of being pulled...Seems an interesting show indeed, I feel a bit stupid that I've never heard of it :x I guess I was a bit young when it premiered, but throughout I'm not sure I've heard a mention of it!  93. Rugrats: All Grown Up! (2003) 57 (Same votes, highest: 28) As it's name suggests, Rugrats: All Grown Up follows the lives of the famed babies ten years later when they are now pre-teens and eventually teenagers. It started after a 10th anniversary special All Growed Up to celebrate the original series which showed the babies ten years later was so popular, Nickelodeon decided to make a full series of it. It ran for five seasons. I saw bits of this, and honestly, I feel like there was a reason it was only a special in the first place, it's just...it's turned quite a unique show into just a stereotypical cartoon about teenagers. But then, it has been ages since I watched it so maybe I'm forgetting the better bits, the theme song still gets in my head sometimes haha  94. Clifford the Big Red Dog (2000) 55 (More votes) Based on the children's book series of the same name, Clifford the Big Red Dog was an educational series about the adventures of both Clifford, an abnormally large red dog as his name suggests, and his dog friends and his human owners, with often a moral message for children coming out at the end of each one. A reboot of the series has recently been announced for 2019. I was too old for this one unfortunately so don't have much to say, I might have read the books at some point though.  95. Hong Kong Phooey (1974) 55 Produced by Hanna Barbera, Hong Kong Phooey was a parody of kung-fu shows of the time featuring an anthropomorphic dog who works as a janitor at a police office and lives a secret life of a Kung fu fighter hero who saves the day from crime, or so he thinks, he is actually comically inept at almost all aspects and his quiet assistant, Spot, often saves the day for him and helps him along without getting any of the credit. The classic scene being him jumping into a file cabinet to suit up and Spot helping him to get out of the cabinet as the draw gets stuck. Almost every episode revolved around the same structure, not the most innovative of cartoons, but I have at least seen this one and it was always a fun watch.  96. Total Drama Island (2007) 51 A sort of reality show parody that's animated. Canadian made, The program first aired on Cartoon Network and was a parody of the show, Survivor, where 22 teens are put on an island and given various and intensifying challenges as the show goes on before gradually being 'eliminated' each week until a winner is declared. Apparently still aired for children despite some rather inappropriate content that had to be edited out. It ran for one season, it looks quite cool, certainly have never seen that concept done before, but not one I know much about sorry~  97. Steins; Gate (2011) 50 So well done Iz, your top pointer makes it in on just your votes. Based on the 2009 visual novel video game of the same name, Steins;Gate is a Sci-fi anime that follows the adventures of Rintaro Okabe who discovers time travel and must work with his colleagues to keep it safe from the secret organisation, SERN, who plan to use it for evil purposes. It ran for four seasons and received particular acclaim for it's story, writing and character design (I'm remembering some of these from your old avatars). I know absolutely nothing about this as that would probably tell you, Iz, tell us why it's great~  = King Rollo (1980) 50 And Rollo, your top pointer makes it on just your votes as well. Penned by famed author David McKee who we all might know a bit better for the Elmer stories, a short series of just thirteen episodes was made based on the books on the childlike king that always needed a bit of a hand. I'm pretty sure I remember the books but I definitely don't recognise the show, please tell us why it's great ;o  99. The Clangers (2015) 49 And it's your lucky day Rollo, as your second pointer makes it also on just your votes. I am obvs familiar with this one, but I don't think I ever watched the reboot. The original unfortunately didn't make the top 100 for whatever reason. The original was a stop motion animated series which ran from 1969-72 which focused on a family of mouse like creatures living in space who eat only green soup and communicate only in whistles, 43 years later, it was rebooted with Michael Palin from Monty Python taking over a narrator and was still extremely successful and didn't change it's formula much and even won a BAFTA for pre-school animation. Kinda wished I'd watched more of this as I only know it by name and occasionally seeing them on a show, it looks so cute <3 |

Yeah so Steins;Gate is a classic among animes, partly for being such a good adaptation of the VN, and partly for being a great story in its own right.
Much of my love for it comes from my love of time travel and what Steins;Gate in particular does with it, as it actually creates an almost believable mechanic (as in, perhaps this one really is the way time travel could work in reality) by which the time travel in the series is possible (and uses a famous real-world internet hoax, John Titor, as a plot launching point), and uses its runtime effectively to explore exactly what ramifications that time-travel has on its world, and that is very addictive, especially once the series ramps up its action, it takes things a little slowly at first. The cast is this charismatic group of college students who have great chemistry with each other, Okabe in particular, he has plenty of (quite insane but entertaining) mannerisms that instantly put him into my list of favourite characters. Watching it is also a bit like getting 'the anime experience'-lite. You'd recognise it as anime but it's not too heavy that it would turn people off. If you like the idea of time travel in your shows at all, I wager you'd like it. Also it only has one season, although a pseudo-sequel (pseudo only because it follows one possible timeline in particular), Steins;Gate 0, is airing this year. I haven't really watched any of the others in that section, aside from The Clangers, which is cute and all but just that really. I remember seeing things like Clifford and Rugrats around but they never interested me. |

Good to see King Rollo make the top 100. It was made by the same people who made the more well known Mr Benn and had the same narrator. I don't remember much about it but watched a couple of episodes on youtube after I took on the name for this forum. I still find it quite funny.

Samurai Jack (2001) 67 Produced by Genndy Tartakovsky, Samurai Jack follows an actually unnamed samurai referred to only as 'Jack' sent to a dystopian future ruled by a shapeshifting demon named Aku, Jack attempts to go back in time to defeat Aku before he takes over the world. Originally running for four series with no clear conclusion, in 2017, a fifth season was produced that moved to the Adult Swim channel that concluded the franchise. The show was very critically acclaimed for it's dark tone (the fifth series would see the jokes get a lot more lewd) and striking visual style and won eight Emmy awards. Really feels too low here as this is generally seen as one of the best! It was a very intense and dark show as I remember it, perhaps a bit too dark for me at the time as I recall not being as into it, it definitely suited being on the adult channel.  82. Kill La Kill (2013) 66 Iz and Brett managed to get this anime into the top 100, and not the first one either. Kill la Kill follows Ryuko Matoi who arrives at a school of superhumans to find out the truth about her father's murder, she soon comes into conflict with the student council president, Satsuki Kiryuin. It ran for 24 episodes and has apparently been called 'magical girl anime on speed' by IGN. Intrigued~  83. Taz-Mania (1991) 64 Ooh beware that theme song will become very stuck in you head. A spin-off of Looney Tunes based on the homelife of Taz, the popular Tasmanian Devil character from the Looney Tunes franchise, I believe this is the highest a spin-off of that has charted as well. You'd think a program about a character that can only speak gibberish wouldn't have much to work with, but Taz-Mania was wonderful in it's eclectic overstuffed weirdness - with various characters including Taz's family, colleagues, outback animals with a wide array of personalities, they were never short of material. Inspired by Animaniacs and Tiny Toon Adventures, it often broke the fourth wall and even had sections where Taz goes very philosophical. It was weird, but endearing, I'd recommend it.  84. Rocko's Modern Life (1993) 63 (Same voters, highest: 43) Speaking of Australia, another early 90s show focusing on the adventures of an immigrant wallaby's life in O-Town. Similar in style to Ren & Stimpy, it contained quite a lot of adult humour as well as slapstick and even some social commentary which probably went over a lot of kids' heads and some of it even had to be censored, it received very good reviews nonetheless and was popular with all ages and has picked up a following even if it only ran for four seasons and a special will apparently be airing this year. It was known for launching the careers of many animation greats, including director Stephen Hillenberg and majority of the cast who went on to produce a certain show about a talking sponge, and also Tom Kenny & Carlos Alazraqui. I may have seen bits of this but again it was probably one I was too young for at the time!  85. The Secret Show (2006) 63 (Same voters, highest: 32) A British spy animation about two secret agents from the organisation U.Z.Z headed by Professor Professor who work to stop threats from the evil organisation T.H.E.M headed by the evil Doctor Doctor, some brainstorming that went on there. It aired for two seasons and had some notable guest stars like Tom Baker & Stephen Fry. 'Fraid I'm not aware of this at all, sorry!  86. Jackie Chan Adventures (2000) 62 (4 voters) An animated, fictionalised version of the Jackie Chan adventures essentially, this aired from 2000-2005 on Cartoon Network and Fox Kids. Throughout the shows, there was many mythologies and magic brought in which used the actual animals of the chinese Zodiac although it always tied it back with many references to Jackie Chan's actual career. This was another one I didn't really recall alas, I was more of a Dragonball guy x  87. Wander Over Yonder (2013) 62 (3 voters) From the creator of the Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Wander Over Yonder was a Disney XD series focusing on Wander, who is the title character, and his steed travelling across the Galaxy helping people to live free and saving them from the evil Lord Hater (these names srsly). I'd almost completely forgotten the Disney Channel's existence by this point so this is another one I have nothing else to say about sorry (I will get better at these I swear)  88. Alvin & The Chipmunks (1983) 62 (2 voters) A series that followed the antics of a real life music group...of chipmunks that is. A follow up to the 1960s show, The Alvin Show, Alvin and the Chipmunks ran until 1990 and there were many movies and cross over specials since and it has also formed a, rather terrible looking, CGI movie franchise to this day. A new revived series aired in 2015 and carries on to this day so the legacy of the Chipmunks never dies. I've heard of their music and/or their various pitched covers of songs, but never rlly watched this show.  89. Animaniacs (1993) 58 Another one from the late 80s-early 90s 'animation renaissance' as it was called by many and one of the defining shows of that era. Spielberg-produced Animaniacs largely took the style of Looney Tunes in that it was a variety show featuring a large cast of characters, most prominently being squirrel like characters Yakko, Wakko and Dot in varying situations that relied on a mix of slapstick and meta and satirical humour that parodied other shows and events and social commentary as well as a lot of fourth wall breaking, it was a strange package won it a wide audience amongst adults and children and vast critical acclaim, it is still regarded as one of the best animated shows of all time and a reboot has been announced for 2020. This certainly seems far too low, I did really like what I saw of this, it's just again it was a little bit before my time to appreciate it fully.  90. Mr Bean: The Animated series (2002) 57 (More votes) Ooh yay, here's one I know. Based on the classic bumbling character, Mr Bean, played by Rowan Atkinson who was one of the most iconic features of the early 90s. This animated series was produced and initially aimed also at adults and broadcast on ITV, but the content clearly became a lot more kid friendly over time and CITV picked it up for the third series. It was revived in 2014 and continues to this day, still with the voice of Rowan Atkinson. It is largely true to the show with little dialogue apart from mumbling and grunting and focus on Mr Bean's various escapades with a few added characters, though apparently that's changed now. I did like this show as I love the original, but it was far from essential if mainly cos it was fun watching Mr Bean interacting with various aspects of real life in the live action series, we were familiar with the situations, putting it in an animated world instantly loosens it from us and makes it a penchant to just turn it into any old slapstick cartoon. |

I did not expect Avatar: The Last Airbender and Archer to peak this low in the countdown
Robotboy: I've recently seen the first eight episodes after the voting closed and I really liked what I saw. I have some fond memories of Camp Lazlo and The Secret Show from my childhood. Wander Over Yonder is one of those shows that does random, fast-paced humor very well. Samurai Jack: Most of what I saw was the Adult Swim season, but I loved watching it nonetheless I like the Mr. Bean cartoon, though I prefer the original live-action version. |

The whistling of the Clangers just is annoying, made worse by the fact I can't whistle
 Clifford is better as a puppy. I agree that All Grown Up missed the point of why Rugrats is so good - I'm sure it spun off from an episode of the original series where they were all grown up which I thought was such a great idea, seeing what they looked like as they were older, didn't really warrent a full series though. But YES, the theme song always just randomly pops up in my head! Jackie Chan adventurs - what an iconic intro, deserves the points just for that! The Secret Show is actually a real hidden gem! I remember it being quite clever for what it was and also very funny too! Also, another iconic segment with the fluffy bunny song |
