Andy Murray has announced his retirement from tennis by saying the Australian Open could be his final event although he hopes to retire at Wimbledon is because of his hip problems, it's a shame to him retire, the best British male tennis player that we've had. 3-time Grand Slam champion, twice a winner at Wimbledon, won the ATP Tour World Final to reach #1 in the rankings, won the Davis Cup with Great Britain, twice a Olympic champion. The press conference sad to see with him obviously emotional.

Really sad about Murray, without a doubt he's one of the best ever. I suspect the practice match against Djokovic made him think it's time to call quits. I'd have loved to have seen him win another few Grand Slams as he deserves it.

A shame to see Murray go although his achievements so far are still amazing. Hopefully we've got another GB star in Edmunds.

Andy Murray comes from 2 sets down to 2-2 but loses the final set 6-2 against Roberto Bautista Agut in a match lasting more than four hours. A heroic effort put in by him in what might be his last match.

In terms of British interest at the Australian Open-

Mens: Drugs cheat Dan Evans through to the second round, Kyle Edmund out lost in straight sets to Berdych.

Women's:

Harriet Dart losing 6-0 6-0 to drugs cheat Maria Sharapova, Heather Watson out 6-1 6-2 to 32nd seed Petra Martic. But Katie Boulter through against 2015 semi-finalist Ekaterina Makarova 6-0 4-6 7-6 (10-6)

Shame to see Murray lose in that epic.

Konta didn’t play great but just manages to get the job done. Let’s hope this gives her the confidence to play better in the 2nd round.

They finished at 3.12am with Muguruza winning the final set 7-5. A shame there were only a few spectators left in the stadium by the end,it was a very good match.
