I enjoy it, but I think Suburgatory, The Goldbergs, Don't Trust The Bitch In Apartment 23 and Veep are all much better in terms of sitcoms from this decade, but yes, it's very good.
(the theme there probably being female leads) |

I'd imagine it'll all be back to normal within a few episodes.

I watched the first season last year (or year before?). I did enjoy it but I didn’t fall in love with it (yet!) and I kept forgetting to return back to it. I feel part of the problem was that I watched it fairly soon after finishing Parks and Rec and some of the characters are just variations of the more superior ones in Parks and Recs which I was missing too much!
Definitely need to get round eventually to watching more! |

I've been binging this over the past few days and i am completely hooked, why did i not watch this sooner

double posting soz but I just caught up fully and I cant not comment on Rosa's coming out story.
They handled it so well, flawlessly actually imo, which very rarely happens with bisexual characters. The fact they went out of their way to make sure it was clear that that's how Rosa identifies, actually used the word bi/bisexual repeatedly and it wasn't passed off as not wanting to use labels or anything like that is so important. They addressed so many issues surrounding bisexuality just within one 20 minute episode, the scenes with her parents in particular really struck a nerve with me as that's almost exactly how I can see my own parents reacting. I loved how they showed her parents, well her dad more so, come around to the idea as that's the reality for a lot of LGBTQ+ people, like they weren't really supportive at first but they didn't shut Rosa out, they tried to gloss over it which is the easiest thing for a lot of people to do when they don't fully understand but Rosa was sure of herself and explained to them etc. The whole pictionary scene was great and probably my favourite, where her dad said she'd end up with a man, that it was a phase and bisexuality doesn't exist - that's such a real and common opinion so many people have, especially parents so to see it actually be shown in a TV series, idk it just meant a lot. The scene with her dad on the roof was amazing too, it just shows that some people do need time but they will be accepting. It's a strong message to put out to people in similar situations who have been rejected initially by family or friends because of coming out that it does get better and people can change their minds. I feel like this is the storyline I've looked for in so many characters and I honestly couldn't be happier at how it's been done. I saw so much of my own worries or issues through it. I also loved how she said to Charles that the reason she didn't say sooner was because it wasn't anyone else's business but also she didn't want things to change- again, an important point because it sometimes feels like coming out is something people need to do, that it's owed to others and it's not and it shouldn't be that kind of pressured situation and it is very much a choice to tell people or not, and only when you're ready. Plus, worrying that things will change or people will treat you differently is always a concern with coming out I think, so to see this strong, fearless character have the same fears as so many people, it just speaks volumes. Sorry I'm ranting and gushing but I have so many feelings rn Also the Charles bi-bye part had me laughing so much, I'm glad it wasn't made to be this overly heavy storyline and still kept the humour of the show, also that it wasn't even the sole focus of the episode and wasn't used as a plot device as a lot of times it is used as a plot twist or a cliffhanger note etc but it was just a further revelation about a character that we didn't know before, which is exactly how it should be shown imo. I'm so glad Rosa also had Jake there for her too, their friendship is one of my favourites of the show and these past few episodes have been incredible for them. Gina as a mum tho, baby Enigma :'))) |

(the theme there probably being female leads) Yeah NOBODY thinks Don't Trust The Bitch... is anything even verging on good, it's pretty awful , as are Veep and Suburgatory |
