Could Ariana take the top spot? The eagerly anticipated third album is finally released this week, but after Megahn Trainor's under-performance last week, it's a tough one to call. Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan and Richard Ashcroft also release this week and Drake's streaming figures could also prove to be competition.

In the singles chart we have an unlikely collaboration between Sigma and Take That as they both return with 'Cry', which could go straight into the 20. Craig David, Lethal Bizzle and Martin Solveig also release new singles...But it looks like another close battle between Drake and Justin Timberlake for #1.

Breakdown of the week
- Saturday and Sunday: Information on Twitter from MintRoyale only. Please do not make requests, we do not have any information other than what's posted.
- Monday: OCC Top 100 + Radio 1 Chart Update 5:30pm to 5:45pm.
- Tuesday: Top 40 update as and when we receive them with requests, this is NOT 100% guaranteed however. The OCC may publish sales flashes of their own accord but likewise, this is not guaranteed. Twitter and social media is your friend for today. Please post any information you find with a source. Do not nag for updates, we will post a top 40 update if we receive one.
- Wednesday: Top 40 update from Music Week from 5:45, and potential top 5 sales but this is not guaranteed.
- Thursday: See Tuesday.

Other notes (please read)
- You may make requests Tuesday to Thursday but outside the top 40, specific positions will not be revealed (unless deemed necessary by a mod).
- Please do not demand a midweek update, one will be posted as and when we receive the information. Patience is a virtue.
- Sales information will be given out as deemed necessary by a moderator, please bear this in mind when making requests. Most requests for sales will be ignored.
- To keep everyone in the loop of all chart action, please refer to the iTunes and Spotify threads.

Loving Cry, Take That still have fantastic voices. Of course as a song it's 3 years behind the trends but that's exactly why it's very suitable for TT

I imagine Ariana will out sell Meghan Trainor but will probably be less than the 24k that My Everything sold on its first week. Eric Clapton (#1), Richard Ashcroft (#3) and Bob Dylan (#5) are ahead on Amazon and I reckon the same will happen officially. Would like Drake to stay at #1 though, just so there's an album spending at least two consecutive weeks at #1 after the several one-weekers we've had.

Catfish and the Bottlemen should easily take the #1 the following week, then Paul Simon, then Tom Odell, then Red Hot Chili Peppers who may spend a second week there.

from Minty:

Unless Ariana does something fast we are faced with the prospect of Richard Ashcroft monotoning himself to the number 1 spot next week.

when someone asks about how far behind is Drake, Minty answers "13", guess he means Drake is 13K behind?

@MintRoyale How far behind is Drake? Streaming seems to be helping him a lot.

@Atkins_Sam 13!

I can see Sigma missing the top 10 myself. Streams will be almost non-existent compared with the songs around them.

The Dylan album isn't going to do as well as his last one which is a bit of a surprise

I wouldn't be too sure about Catfish and the Bottlemen, their previous album peaked at number 10 and don't underestimate "Lexicon Of Love II' - ABC

I have a feeling Justin, Drake and Calvin will occupy the top 3 in that order, but it would be close between Justin and Drake, 13k between #1 and #2 can decrease between now and the end of the week, plus once the missing data is added in.

I would say Sigma and TT to enter at #4, with a possibility Ariana Grande having a nice climb inside the top 10 with her single on the back of her album release. I wonder if she manages to reach #5, but that's debatable, I think Sia will probably occupy #5 in the end.

As for the albums, I think its a battle between the 3 male solo artists, mainly between Eric Clapton and Richard Ashcroft, should imagine Eric Clapton will get there.

The last one didn't exactly do brilliantly. Sure, it went to number one, but it hasn't even gone Silver yet - whereas all of his studio albums from the last 20 years have a certification of some sort.

'The Balcony' was a pretty consistent seller throughout 2015 though - never higher than #16 for the whole year yet outsold quite a lot of number one albums too (Iron Maiden, Imagine Dragons, Stereophonics... - the list goes on to more than 15 of them interestingly.)

The peak of their previous album means very little - it was their debut album and their fanbase has increased significantly and it's happened so many times where an act of their ilk has gone to #1 with their follow up. They've had strong support from Radio 1, with Radio 2 having a special for them with Jo Wiley. I suppose ABC could get there too but Catfish will have more life in them.

Maybe but as I said don't underestimate ABC, there is a lot of love out there for the original Album, the new one has been performing better than Catfish on pre-order and I suspect ABC will nail the promotion better ( all ready a slot at the Palladium and I wouldn't be surprised if they bag a slot during one of the Live BGT's next week).
