I'm absolutely *obsessed* with a duo I discovered recently called 100 gecs. It feels like a massive throwback to the days of 3OH!3 and I'm absolutely here for it!
 Their debut album '1000 gecs' released this year and I highly reccomend giving it a listen - and it's only 20 minutes of your time! |

1000 gecs is an unironically very good album
I want to say it feels like the embodiment of multiple-levels-of-irony gen z music but whatever it is, I've been enjoying it quite a bit. |

A remix album will be releasing next year titled '1000 gecs & th3 phant0m m3nac3' - and so far remixes of 'money machine' from A. G. Cook and '745 sticky' from Injury Reserve have been released.

'Discovered recently' eh. I sent 'gec 2 Ü' by them to the second BJSC Pride spinoff back in June, you even gave it 8 points!!1
Seriously though this is an absolutely mad and great little album, particularly like that song and 'money machine' / 'hand crushed by a mallet'. Excited for whenever they release more new stuff (I'm not really that crazy about either of the releases so far from the remix album though oop). They were one of BROCKHAMPTON's support acts at some of their North American tour dates (along with slowthai) as well - sadly doesn't look like they're coming along to the European tour, that's a stacked lineup of my faves. x |

Cool to finally have this out there now (feels like it's been being teased for years xx), it is definitely quite a mixed bag though, as I was kind of expecting considering I only really liked 2 of the 5 singles. The 'ringtone' and 'stupid horse' remixes are both great and definitely have become the definitive versions of those songs for me but as for the rest of the remixes I'd say the only other one that might be better than the original song is 'xXXi_wud_nvrstop_ÜXXx' with Tommy Cash and Hannah Diamond. The 'hand crushed by a mallet' remix with Fall Out Boy et al. is a good one too but doesn't quite match up to the original which was one of the best songs on '1000 gecs'. The 'gecgecgec' remix and the other 'xXXi_wud_nvrstop_ÜXXx' remix are also decent. I can do without the rest to be honest - only 6/14 isn't too great of a hit rate oops!
However it is nice that there are a couple of new original songs as well as the remixes, really enjoying both of those ('came to my show' is the better of the two but they're both head and shoulders above nearly all of the remixes), I guess 100 gecs' style is kind of particular and unique so it's mostly best when they are left to their own devices  looking forward to their next proper album ~(aside: '745 sticky' seems to be a cursed song, since the remixes were recorded Black Dresses ended up splitting up in a pretty dramatic fashion and one of the members of Injury Reserve passed away :x) |

While most of these remixes are inessential, the 99jakes remix of xXXi_wud_nvrstop_ÜXXx is art itself.
The Fall Out Boy one is pretty good too, but yeah, I need more original 100 gecs craziness ('came to my show' sates me well for now though). |

Dropping this in here as it probably doesn't warrant its own thread but laura les from 100 gecs has dropped a new solo single (seems to have existed in live form since November last year but only released properly this month) and it is a banger, serving some Crystal Castles vibes ~
