So I’m guessing this will reference anything BUT what happens on a Thursday night?

Posted by: danG 15th July 2018, 05:32 PM

Not an Ed Sheeran co write drama.gif hope it is good anyhow.

Posted by: Bré 15th July 2018, 05:38 PM

Hmmmmm. I get a bad feeling about this. The last time we had an Ed Sheeran co-write it gave us probably the worst hit single of the year.

Posted by: Queef of Skreech 15th July 2018, 05:49 PM

Ed Sheeran is a corporate hack so not looking forward to this. Going by the past rip offs this shrill came up with, lyrics will probably be something like

It's Thursday, Thursday, gotta get down on Thursday night cos I like thr way you moooove, pretty babyyy

Posted by: Liаm 15th July 2018, 05:50 PM

On paper this fills me dread but i did kinda like 2002 despite it all oops, it'll probably be about like doing mundane things in a relationship on a Thursday evening when not a lot exciting happens but you love them anyway or something equally tedious laugh.gif

Posted by: Andrew. 15th July 2018, 06:12 PM

‘I’ll Be There’ and ‘2002’ are both basic af but still boos so I’m lowkey hyped for this laugh.gif

Posted by: Cqmerqn 15th July 2018, 06:16 PM

Could this be her 8th number one? :’)

Yeah, for this reason that automatically sets off alarm bells and renders this a grim prospect. I'll keep an open mind...

Please, with her Clean Bandit collab to be her 9th! And before we know it, Jess Glynne will get more #1s than Madonna!

The label will probably do everything in their power to ensure this goes to #1 lol.

Has anyone got 10 UK #1s?

Elvis (21), The Beatles (17), Cliff Richard and Westlife (14), Madonna (13) plus The Shadows and Take That (12) all have more than 10. 8 would match Oasis and The Rolling Stones!

People don't know Cliff Richard is British?? I know he's well before our time but still!!

I don’t get how people can criticise a song they haven’t even heard based just on the name of the track. It might be a really good song! I’m looking forward to hearing this!!

Posted by: King Rollo 15th July 2018, 11:28 PM

There have been no.1 singles with Friday,Saturday,Sunday and Monday in the title so if this gets to number 1,we can cross another day off the list.

It's just that Thursday is an incredibly Ed Sheeran-esque title for a song, especially considering we just had 2002

Really??

Posted by: Dexton 16th July 2018, 01:20 AM

Most of Buzzjack just has an irrational hatred for Ed Sheeran because he’s a successful male tongue.gif

I’m excited for this, 2002 wasn’t amazing but it was a cute little bop that exceeded everyone’s expectations and has given Anne-Marie her biggest hit to date. I’ll Be There took a while to grow on me and I’m still not a huge fan but likewise that became another huge hit for Jess which I’m glad about. Your Song, Cold Water, Parallel Line, Night Changes, and more are also great Ed songs. Fingers crossed this will be more Your Song than 2002, but that will depend on who else is working on the song

Posted by: JSG 16th July 2018, 07:09 AM

Hmm not really keen on Ed Sheerans Music and never have been but Jess om the other Hand 😍

I'd hope this is another Hit for her!

Posted by: Hexton 11th October 2018, 12:18 PM

thursday is dull but the club going up on a tuesday

Posted by: Klumpkin 11th October 2018, 02:28 PM

'Thursday' is just a bit meh really. Is it just me who's a bit tired of these self-empowerment songs we're getting nowadays - obviously the intentions are good but more often they're such wet songs. 'Born This Way' smashed that topic out the park and nothing else since has been 'necessary'.

I think people prefer more upbeat Jess Glynne so I don't think it'll be contending for #1 seeing as 'All I Am' hasn't been.

Agreed, it's a lovely little track! I prefer her softer moments anyway, Take Me Home is my personal favourite of her tracks.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 11th October 2018, 08:32 PM

I prefer this as a ballad to 'Take Me Home', on there she sounded like she was straining to hit notes she couldn't quite reach and it made for quite an awkward listen.

Now I understand Ketaline fave's username!

Her last song was her worst yet.

Posted by: ZaraRuinMyLife 11th October 2018, 09:05 PM

I can actually see this missing the top 10. It’s a nice enough track but its a nice album track imo, not strong enough to be a lead single!

Posted by: Dob Geldof 11th October 2018, 09:21 PM

Very dull.

Posted by: Jack 11th October 2018, 09:21 PM

Imagine having to work for Jet2 though and hearing people complain all the time :')

Posted by: slowdown73 11th October 2018, 11:37 PM

One of the better tracks on her new album for sure!

Posted by: ___∆___ 12th October 2018, 07:21 AM

Definitely the right song to push the album - sounds like a song that radio will hammer too.

I'm gonna use one of your favourite terms here (assuming you're talking about 'All I Am'), that song is the absolute PRIME definition of what you'd call "McDonald's music".

It's one of those songs I grow to hate even more every time I hear it.

Posted by: Rooney 12th October 2018, 09:23 AM

It's boring but it's safe and something Heart FM will be playing until 2028. Can't understand why people don't think this will be a big hit, if it's given the right push and the streamers take to it, it sounds like a number 1 single to me.

Posted by: Voodoo 12th October 2018, 05:19 PM

What a gorgeous, beautiful song. She sounds like an angel. The lyrics are so touching. cry.gif

I hope it smashes BIG TIME so the haters will finally shut the f*** up. cool.gif

Posted by: slowdown73 13th October 2018, 09:30 AM

One of the better tracks from the album. What were the HMV bonus tracks?

Posted by: Jei-boy 19th October 2018, 04:00 PM

#24 on the Official charts

think it's the best she's done this year, and Im no fan, at least she's not yodelling like in I'll be there and it has more oomph than All I Am

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 26th October 2018, 11:58 PM

She's released several which I'd say are worse than this.

Posted by: Jordan Lee 27th October 2018, 12:55 AM

This is the best solo single she’s released from Always Inbetween so far.

Deserves to outpeak All I am at least.

Posted by: Bjork 1st November 2018, 12:16 PM

All I Am was far worst than this, not bad, just mediocre, a 5/10
I'll be There was slightly better but ruined by her yodelling so ended up being a 2/10 song

this is a 7/10 smile.gif

Posted by: Dob Geldof 1st November 2018, 01:12 PM

Also think it's her worst, in terms of ballads Take Me Home was very good but this is just bland as anything.

Posted by: Buttered Muffin 1st November 2018, 01:14 PM

This is atrocious. The yodelling MADE I'll Be There. It was unique. This is bland. Really bland.

Agreed, Take Me Home on paper probably should be worse as it's "screech" and her voice sounds strange at the best of times let alone on a big ballad but it just works with a bit more soul and feeling. This is just lowest common denominator faux-inspiring shite, totally plodding with absolutely nothing to it.

Well it's OK this collaboration, but I don't think we needed Ed Sheeran in this.

Posted by: danVember 7th November 2018, 08:11 PM

This will be her 12th top 10 single this Friday continuing her streak of hitting the top 10 or missing the top 40! Good to see this top 10 already, looks like it'll be bigger than All I Am.

Probably her weakest song to reach the Top10 in my view. Just can't get into this.

Posted by: jark 15th November 2018, 01:02 PM

Thursday is really great. That last minute is huge. I'll Be There and in particular All I Am were excellent too. She's on a roll.

I like Jess a lot - she's not a personality artiste, and her music doesn't push the boundaries, but the songwriting is strong and she delivers time after time. Sometimes pop needs a reliable soldier like her.

Posted by: BigMixer 21st November 2018, 06:46 PM

It was my first time listening to the song and I thought it was really good tbh. I have listened to it a few times now.
